- Kautylia, on 04/17/2008, -2/+4I wonder how many of these endorsement changes are motivated just by the changing public opinion. As in, the delegate thinks "Oh *****, I don't want to have endorsed the losing candidate, even if I still think she's better." Always hard to tell with politicians.
- Gabberwok, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Does it matter? I care much less about a politician's intentions than about his/her actions.

- wild, on 04/17/2008, -2/+14Yep, agreed.
- IAmTheGuy, on 04/17/2008, -2/+6Which is what plenty of Superdelegates have decided upon. If they all voted for whoever they wanted, they would simply alienate the voters and no one wants that.
- dan.stryker, on 04/17/2008, -0/+4Then why have superdelegates?
- wphj, on 04/17/2008, -0/+8Exactly.
- dan.stryker, on 04/17/2008, -0/+4Then why have superdelegates?
- ElectricKetchup, on 04/17/2008, -1/+11If the superdelegates really respected democracy, they wouldn't vote at all, and instead let the election be decided by the people like in a real democracy.
- maynardrayne, on 04/17/2008, -7/+5America isn't a democracy. Our founding fathers set it up as a democratic republic, where representatives of the public vote in the publics stead. Thus we have super-delegates and the electoral college. Whether they belong there or not is an entirely different matter...I'm just trying to explain that they exist because we are a republic not a democracy.
- fantasticFlan, on 04/17/2008, -3/+11We have superdelegates because the Democratic party decided they wanted that to be a part of how they choose their candidates. It has ***** to do with the definition of a democracy/republic.
- siszam, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

- dan.stryker, on 04/17/2008, -0/+6Why have superdelegates to begin with, if they can't vote for whoever they want?
- jaxcs, on 04/17/2008, -0/+7yeah, I think this election shows that superdelagates as a concept doesn't work.
- RogerVeritas, on 04/18/2008, -0/+0The will of the people can be scary thing.
Take for example -I don't Know -The US. We all know, that as an expression of the will of the people who signed the original constitution, slave ownership was legal in Washington. Even George Washington Owned slaves. Jefferson the author of the Declaration not only owned them but enjoyed them.
Our slave owning founder luckily contrived a hybrid that harnessed both the wisdom of the mob with wisdom to a hybrid called a republic. The Super delegates are an offshoot, a reflection of this hybrid. Most folks in any election unless they really know a candidate choose their candidates like they choose their favorite TV shows. Its part of the same game with all of the rules, same demographics known by all sides, same known history of rights and wrongs on all sides. Choosing a Democrat has never been both easier and harder.
If Mr Thomas, a recently chosen super delegate from DC wants to side with Obama and feels he is making the most wise decision verses the most opportune decision so be it.
Personally I think Obama should be a gentleman and step aside and let the more qualified Lady Go first. To do so would truly secure his place in History. It would also secure the destiny of the Progressive orientation of the Democratic party. - jaxcs, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1The idea of super delegates is to provide party discipline. If the people vote in a fit of crazy someone patently unelectable, then the super delegates are supposed to step in and prevent a party disaster. the trouble is, if the people vote for someone, are they truly unelectable? And, in a close race like this one, how does the party escape the charge of elitism if super delegates stepping in decide the candidate? What will it do to the party? This is a real problem for the dems.

No civil liberties, no vote. I want to hear a plan to reduce the prison system and shrink government. Obama is the only candidate favorable to civil liberties at the moment. BTW I am a recovering Republican. No more deceit and lies and corruption for me. I am voting for Obama.

- rottencod, on 04/17/2008, -0/+8Sure, the Democratic Party is full of liars and cheats but that's politics for you. I'm voting for Obama, but not because he's a Democrat. I'm voting for him because he represents a clean break from the partisan nonsense that's plagued our government for 100 years. He is even open to putting Republicans in his Cabinet -- something that I don't think has been done since Lincoln (could be wrong though). Like Obama, I don't think either party has a monopoly on good ideas. I think there are good people on both sides of the isle, but that partisan politics gets in the way of getting anything done far too often.
- kreneskyp, on 04/17/2008, -0/+6actually more cops can reduce crime. Bostons crime rates dropped dramatically in the 90s because they added so many new police.
The important question is what will the new police be doing. If its 100,000 more cops writing parking/speeding tickets then its a waste. If its 100,000 cops patrolling crime ridden areas then i say its a good idea.- Musicmonkey34, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2i concur. I live in an area where there has been a surge of crime against the disabled during daylight hours.
Seriously. these people are beating up people in wheel chairs and then stealing their chairs.
i have more problems with police than i do hairs on my head, but we could sure use some more police standing on street corners by me. but at the same time, more instruments doesnt always make the band better. Sometimes u just need a better director. - Mercedes383, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2I dunno about the states, but I'm guessing it's similar to here in Australia, the police here get paid a pathetic salary. I think it's kind of unreasonable to expect our police to be the sort of people we idealy want them to be yet insult them by making them the lowest paid civil servants in the country.

One thing, I am tired of the so called 'Fair and Balanced' Hannity and Colmes cover the crap out of his 'Bitter' remarks. I mean does Colmes get a say in topics he'd like to cover or is Hannity head host in charge? I mean the Bitter remarks dominate the show much like the Reverend Wirght story does. - rotten777, on 04/17/2008, -1/+4My take on the article:
Wonderful! I think most of the people who voted didn't exactly enjoy the idea of some silverspooner trumping their vote. It can only be the best thing for the party to do what the people want. The likely outcome of overturning the vote of the people is the almost certain win of the opposing party. And with this election year, it is incredibly critical to fix the country that we get the status-quo out (obviously my opinion being that John McCain is the status-quo).
My take on the comments:
If you don't like Obama articles, bury them. Nobody wants to hear anyone complain about the numerous articles of "insert topic here". Also, there is no need to reply to the trolls and people expressing their discontent about the number of Obama articles. Just bury them and move on.- Jackson0909, on 04/17/2008, -2/+0It is NOT your right to NOT be offended by an alternative point of view that disrupts enjoyment of your Obama whack off party. Do yourself a favor and branch out every so often for some new information.
- rotten777, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Where in my comment did I say I was for Obama?
FYI I'm a registered Republican who voted for Ron Paul in my primary (FL).

- FecalHurler, on 04/17/2008, -7/+3Okay I get it-- Clinton sucks and Obama will win the nomination. We knew this weeks ago... Can we not submit over 9,000 articles about how Obama rules/Hillary sucks a day? Shouldn't we be focusing our attention on slandering McCain?
- bjornski, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3Unsubscribe from "Election 2008" and shut up about it already.
- BECoole, on 04/17/2008, -19/+3It doesn't matter. Obama can not win the Nov election anyway.
- sqwirl, on 04/17/2008, -2/+8... and you base this on absolutely nothing.
- SaperKain, on 04/17/2008, -3/+5As I life long republican I will say that yes he can win. His chances are very slim, but maybe if there will be a huge turnout of young and middle-aged people he got fighting chance.
- siszam, on 04/18/2008, -2/+1Slim? LOL Your entire party has done nothing but support and cheer the mass murder of our troops for profit. You must be truly insane if you think another Republican has a snowballs chance in hell of winning this election.
- trademork, on 04/17/2008, -0/+8"Yes, yes, yes he can!" - Hillary Clinton
- darkciti2, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1That was awesome.
- Domi0r, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2The right decision.
- Landlocked, on 04/17/2008, -1/+5I'm a die-hard Republican (probably the only one here!) but give kudos to this guy for making the right decision if his voters are indeed Obama supporters. This is suppose to be a representative government -- and Clinton's trying to swing votes of superdelegates is about as kosher as a BLT. I would love to see Dems adopt a one person/one popular vote policy in their primaries.
- ulsterwrod, on 04/17/2008, -1/+3Actually, Obama has paid more money to try and influence the superdelegates than Clinton has.
- Dibou, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1The Democrats in all their wisdom thought it best to have the elite have the final say over the people. Clinton is totally within her rights to get all the super delegates she can.
- Musicmonkey34, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2Dugg for "is about as kosher as a BLT"
- ulsterwrod, on 04/17/2008, -5/+4If this article was about an Obama superdelegate switching to Clinton, there would be far, far fewer diggs. This site is extremely biased for Obama.
- emalen, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2It's not the site that is biased but the visitors of the site, and there is nothing wrong with having an opinion and choosing a side - in fact, it is necessary in an election to review the candidates and choose whom to support.
- Drax0n, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1The fact remains there are more Obama supporters who know how to use the internet tjhan clinton supporters. Probably because when you know how to use the internet you are capable of fact checking yourself and not rellying on places like Fox or ABC for your (dis)information.
- RogerVeritas, on 04/18/2008, -1/+0Yes this is true lots of inexperienced youthful voters surf the net like crazy and swamp Hillary supporters like me. The majority can still be wrong. You should look at Oprah's site though and see what the Internet still has in store for Obama.

- SwordofKahless, on 04/17/2008, -7/+1As we saw with Ron Paul some of this rabid supporters hurt more than helped his campaign. The rabid Obama zealots have them beat by a factor of 10. Obviously this only plays a small part but it is cumulative on top of all the other factors that make an Obama presidency unlikely.
The good thing is it looks like my money is likely safe since an Obama presidency is becoming more and more unlikely.- Qness, on 04/18/2008, -1/+0You must be listening to the false controversy pandering fox news and not checking things out for yourself. It must look like we are zealots because we are checking things out for ourselves, realizing that we don't need or want the old type of politics and media garbage anymore. And this is why many, many people are getting extremely excited about a candidate who is different, who supports THE PEOPLE and relies on the people. And we are here, there and everywhere.
