For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides
"The legislature reaffirms that each officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust." - niradg, on 10/11/2008, -0/+15Buhbye Sarah. We hardly knew ye
- isaaciaggard, on 10/11/2008, -0/+12Does anyone know the penalties, if any, for violating Statute 39.52.110(a)? I mean, besides pointing out that Palin isn't just a moron, but ethically kind of *****.
- peticsu, on 10/11/2008, -0/+15McCain is such a maverick he secured the win for Obama
- rescu911, on 10/11/2008, -0/+9She didn't like this officer because he was a bully to a family member, so she pressured people to take his livelihood. But she has no problem riling a veritable mob to scream murderous, racist, and ignorant epithets at a presidential candidate. This woman is not only stupid, she is without conscience.
- paintgrl, on 10/11/2008, -0/+7FTA: The nearly 300-page report does not recommend sanctions or a criminal investigation.
Which means they will do nothing. All this for nothing.
Now the people of Alaska, who strike me as very independent people who do not like to be screwed with, seem to pick some really corrupt people for office. I am glad Stevens is getting the ole heave ho, but what are they going to do about Gov. Palin?- AngelaQ, on 10/11/2008, -0/+4My guess is that this is just scratching the surface. It's how she routinely operates. Right now they're looking into why she paid herself a per diem to live in her own home in Wasilla instead of the governor's mansion in Juneau, even though it meant she wasn't actually able to do any state business in the capital where she was expected to show up for work. She also didn't declare that per diem as income.
Why not? Probably she forgot to mention it to the folks at H&R Block she had do her taxes. Excuse me? H&R Block?

IF she had just said (--in her aw shucks voice), "You know, that Trooper Wooten was a real jerk to my sister and nephew. I did what I felt I needed to do to protect my family. If I stepped over the line, I apologize and I'll take my lumps. But if you asked me whether I would do it again to protect my family, I'd say YOU BETCHA!!!"
--and the crowd goes wild, right? But, no. She denied. She lied. She got on her egomanical soapbox and started spouting about how THAT ONE was sooooooo untrustworthy.
In the end it looks like she was just another Cheney, but unfortunately for her, without the brains to be any good at being truly evil.- SeeingtheLight, on 10/11/2008, -0/+1But her followers, more than who support John McCain I need to add, have fewer brains.
- liberaluser, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3Palin is history!!
- SeeingtheLight, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3I'm just up to page 21; this reads like a screenplay. And boy oh boy, poor Monegan has only been officially on the job a couple days and he's really being harrassed. I believe Palin believed that by appointing him to the position of Commissioner he'd do her bidding.
