- dn11, on 10/10/2008, -0/+34I don't believe this man even knows what socialism means. Which "socialist" is he so angry at? George Bush? Bernanke? John McCain? Because they're looking about as "socialist" as anyone these days. I guess this guy didn't hear about McCain's $300 billion mortgage buyout proposal.
Years of talk radio has absolutely rotted out the brains of these people. Unchecked capitalist greed sinks the economy, ring wing military adventurism gets us into impossible, costly wars.... so clearly it is time to to yell in red faced rage at the "socialists".- mikbunn, on 10/10/2008, -1/+5I don't believe the questioner knows what 'question' means.
- theutopian, on 10/10/2008, -0/+8Because of our ***** education system, most people don't understand basic political theories and unfortunately, they're allowed to vote anyway.
- dinot, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4What is ironic is that he's asking a member of government (and potential leader of siad government) to save him from "socialism".
- mostlysunny1, on 10/10/2008, -0/+27There's every reason to be worried that McCain and Palin not only aren't stopping this, they're *encouraging* it. They're stoking the fires of hatred, division, and racism all in a shameful attempt to win with disgraceful tactics. On NPR yesterday, I heard a commentator actually say "we don't actually know that Palin heard the comment" when someone asked why she doesn't stop when people yell comments like "KILL HIM!". I guess technically we don't know that for sure, but we know that she is aware of it now and has not condemned it. That speaks volumes. Obama continues to take the high road and talk about what matters, as he should. He remains calm, cool, and collected in the face of panic. The choices have never been clearer than they are in this election.
- Runkus, on 10/10/2008, -0/+26These McCain/Palin rally's are starting to be really scary...they are starting to take on the feeling of a the "Two Minute Hate" from Orwells '1984', or a lynch mob to be less literary about it.
- suz123nj, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4Or nazi rallies.?
- dirtmonkey, on 10/10/2008, -0/+1I love big brother!!
- rbrinega, on 10/10/2008, -0/+17The crazed guy who was ranting about "socialism" is going to have a fit when the government has to purchase assets (ie, "nationalize", even temporarily). And McCain did not help by allowing this anger to go unchallenged or unsalved. He's making it harder to govern by running those rabble-rousing rallies.
- mshensley, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Plus the fact that comrade McCain is proposing that the government buy everyone's mortgage which would effectively have everyone living in government housing. Oh, the irony....
- JumpingJack79, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4These people, many of whom can't pay their mortgage, should be explicitly asked: "Do you want the government to buy your mortgage and keep you in the house, or is that *too socialist* for you?"
I bet many people are so brainwashed into thinking that any form of government help means "evil socialism", that they would rather lose their home than accept help from the government.
- jarjarwang, on 10/10/2008, -0/+14The angry mob is all you hear from any more... when was the last time you read a pro-McCain internet post that wasn't full of anti-liberal hate? Obama supporters here in Chicago have conducted themselves so well-- optimistic, respectful, caring-- the two campaigns have become total opposites.
- mcarrel, on 10/10/2008, -0/+8Where's the leadership McCain keeps talking about? A true leader leads, not just follow the mob he incites. A true leader encourages progress in a positive, useful direction -- not just spew hatred for those who don't share his views. Think of all the worst dictators in the past. Most if not all of them used hatred in their rise to power.
- Olon97, on 10/10/2008, -0/+9If these people hate socialism so much, let's just strike them from the Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare rolls, and ban them from all public libraries. A very patriotic way to keep those systems solvent for those who prefer sensible pragmatism over rigid ideology.
- cattletracks, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3Add to that the "socialized" fire and police services...
- lukegravitt, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3Former Former? So he is back as a McCain strategist?
- Craftsworld, on 10/10/2008, -8/+0
- curtisblow, on 10/10/2008, -1/+0I see it. Lot's of diggers w/ no profile pics.
- Coffae, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4I truly believe some of these people (in the McCain/Palin rallies) go home at night, scared and alone, suppressing deep anger and vitriol towards anybody and everybody who looks/thinks differently than them. What are these people really saying, "I'm angry, don't know why and so therefore the blame will go towards something I don't really understand. Let me follow the angriest, most emotional folks because I understand them."
This is precisely the kind of person who would buy a gun/bomb to protect themselves and use it someday against a supposed enemy. For anybody to encourage this sort of thing is pure evil.
McCain--please wake up, be a man and put an end to this kind of disgusting campaigning! If you were the real John McCain, the one who was a hero and cared for his country, you would not want to win an election this way.
