- KLBP, on 06/03/2008, -18/+56Wrong, King George W. Bush has been the worst and most dangerous President ever. Carter was simply ineffective because he was too honest and wasn't willing to compromise his principles. Arguably Carter has been the most effective ex-President in history, the thing is most Americans don't hear about all the good things he is doing around the world.

Sorry but Abbas and Israel were up for peace talks, Carter just facilitated them. He was simply there to take credit.
He let IRAN get out of hand with "NICE TALK" - The same Obama wants to do. Because of weak international policy, we had the oil embargo. BTW - same leaders behind the scenes today as there were back then. Do we need another Carter? NO !- ChristmasPoo, on 06/04/2008, -2/+1• "No, but the Soviet Union might have taken over most of the middle east by then. Thanks for playing - YOU FAIL!"
Good let them have it. You think the Islamist nut jobs would of stood by to allow the infidels to stay in their lands? Besides, how do you know this would of occurred? The Iran Contra Affair was not implemented to keep the Russians in check rather it was to get even over Vietnam. "You Fail!"
• "Sorry but Abbas and Israel were up for peace talks, Carter just facilitated them. He was simply there to take credit."
Just like Reagan received credit for the release of the hostages.
• He let IRAN get out of hand with "NICE TALK" And just what did the other administrations do to get even?
The Iran mess is of our own making. Propping up an unpopular monarchy was not a lasting solution. - VinceNoir, on 06/04/2008, -2/+2Do we need another Clinton or Bush? Hell no. McCain is a lame duck before he even enters office should he get elected. He will do absolutely nothing to repair the damage that Bush has done to America. He will simply let greedy pro-corrupt business assholes run the show like Bush did. I'm no fan of Obama's, but I'll still vote for him before I'll vote for McCain.

Many progressives here on Digg have a knee-jerk reaction to your stupidity, and take the time to reply in anger to your troll droppings.
But ... some of us just love you for making your team look bad, and we feel like you (and other neocon anti-american dolts on Digg like "amightywind" ) deserve to be put on paid retainer by the progressive party. You leave lots and lots (and LOTS) of comments, and most of them are perfect, mobilizing reminders of just how wrong your side is.
We know it's hard work, and you are under-appreciated. So I would like to say ... Thanks for all you do! Keep up the good work.- bobfrancis, on 06/04/2008, -3/+2I concur - Thank you Stevenoski for all the good work you do!

- skrowl, on 06/04/2008, -4/+2I wonder if conservatives will start using "Another Carter Term" against Barack Hussein like the liberals use "Another Bush Term" against McCain.

- VinceNoir, on 06/04/2008, -3/+3That has to be about the most unpatriotic thing I've ever seen a Digg idiot post on here. You are a pathetic waste of resources. I love America. The America I was born in. The one where we encouraged people to better themselves and GAVE them help to do it. The one that didn't espouse the "I've got mine, you go get yours" mentality. The one that didn't hang selfishness behind the mantra of "personal responsibility, thereby ruining the meaning of that concept. That was my America. And I'll kill anyone who is going to stand in my way to bring it back. I AM a REAL patriot! Not a paper one who hides behind gigantic American flags and pathetic "Never forget" posters. When the time comes, I will fight to destroy the people who have ruined America. Not for this fake notion of freedom that people like you support, but for real freedom. Freedom from oppressive corporate interests. Freedom from corrupt politicians who have a symbiotic relationship with those corporations. Freedom from people like you who wouldn't lift a finger to save anyone unless it was profitable. You are a disease. You are despicable. But most of all you're un-American. And we all hate you. So shut the hell up.

But the American uber right wing does.
Sure.- knumbknuts, on 06/04/2008, -7/+6Neither does a Chicken Wing understand Iran... and I'd be more interested in what a chicken wing has to say than the uber right wing.
Not only is the uber right wing as bad as the knee jerk liberals, they are closer to each other than either is to me or McCain.
I defy you to find a senator with more bipartisan legislation sponsored and passed than McCain.
/uh oh, Happy Gilmore brought up voting records- chicofaraby, on 06/04/2008, -4/+6http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/member ...
"John McCain has voted with a majority of his Republican colleagues 88.3% of the time during the current Congress."
The ultra right wing Republican ideology is a gross failure. McCain and Bush are the problem. - knumbknuts, on 06/04/2008, -5/+7You are obfuscating... and by the way, that stat you gave means that McCain has voted bipartisan 11.7% of the time, which is better than Obama's 0%.
There's a string on your back and when you pull it, out spews Bush-McCain-Right-Wing-blah-blah-blah.
The problem is, McCain is not right wing. He's right on the war, but he's also correct on it at this point, even if Obama was correct (and smarter than Colin Powell) five years go. McCain is fiscally conservative, but that's hardly all that is required to be right wing. The right wing hates him.
Given Bush's failures, McCain should be 20% behind now. Why is he not? Because the average American voter has greater analytical capabilities than you is is going to choose the president based on policy. I'd rather have either candidate win based on policy than have McCain, my choice, win based on mud or attacks or something the press does.
Use your brain, Chico. You are just spewing rhetoric. - chicofaraby, on 06/04/2008, -4/+7No one blames McCain for running away from the disastrous record of the Republican government of the last decade. It's completely understandable that he recognizes the danger of being held accountable for his support of George Bush's war of aggression and crimes against humanity. McCain voted to let Bush order the illegal invasion. McCain votes to continue the illegal invasion. So does Obama. That's why they are both too far right for me. The difference is that Obama is center-right and McCain is ***** insane right.
For you to act like the fact that I'm anti-Republican somehow makes my positions less credible than your pro-Republican positions only shows that you are a hypocrite. Your post is full of the same rhetoric that you are acting offended about in mine. The plaintive cry of the right wing for civility in politics rings pretty hollow at this point. You know, since you nuts have spent six years calling those of us who were correct about the illegal invasion terror supporters and traitors. You are the pot calling the kettle black.
I am happy to be a socialist and I oppose the right wing's agenda of illegal war, corporate greed and class warfare. I have never pretended to be anything less. I will continue to attack the right using rhetoric. I don't care if you don't like it. - pintomp3, on 06/04/2008, -2/+1mccain voted with bush 98% in 2007, 100% so far in 2008. that's some real change there.

QUOTES FROM MCCAIN:

- “We’re not going to get into house-to-house fighting in Baghdad. We may have to take out buildings, but we’re not going to have a bloodletting of trading American bodies for Iraqi bodies.” [CNN, 9/29/02]
- “But the point is that, one, we will win this conflict. We will win it easily.” [MSNBC, 1/22/03]
- McCain’s April 9, 2003 claim on ABC that “the end is very much in sight.”
Oh yeah there's some real predictions there for you.

- jabberwolf, on 06/04/2008, -2/+4Actually YES this time the right wing does have it right about IRAN and anyone who has dealt with Iran or remebers it's past, knows that being reasonable and peaceful means WEAKNESS to them.
That's all.
You think that everyone is like us in the USA or west and can be reasoned with. That is being UBER NAIVE!
Learn from history and stop making the same retarded mistakes.- chicofaraby, on 06/04/2008, -1/+3"You think that everyone is like us in the USA or west and can be reasoned with."
The USA wasn't reasonable when we decided to start murdering Iraqi civilians over non-existent WMD. Iran hasn't attacked any other nations in the last two decades. The US has attacked at least half dozen. You should probably take your own advice about history. - floorman56, on 06/04/2008, -1/+1For 444 days Carter ASKED the Iranians to let the hostages go ...they said NO!!!

- stormkrow, on 06/04/2008, -1/+3We had a party when Reagan died. That piece of *****. He is probably most to blame for this Neo-Con cabal that America is now experiencing and the corporate corruption that still runs through DC can all thank the Gipper for their deep roots.
Let's see Ronald Reagan implemented the following:
Goldwater cronyism that allows the corporate mafia to run this country.
Slash and burn for all of South America setting up "friendly" US regimes; in Guatemala, Rios Montt plunged into his darkest butcheries. David Rockefeller made haste to Buenos Aires to tell the generals that with Reagan's election a new era of understanding had been launched. A CIA-inspired torture manual surfaced from El Salvador. He hailed the contra murderers attacking Nicaragua as the "moral equivalent of the founding fathers". Not to mention Africa.
Star Wars?? Yeah that all worked out didn't it? $1 trillion dollars for...nothing, well except the enrichment of the military industrial complex.
Mandatory Minimums (if you smoke crack 15 years but snort cocaine 1 year---blacks vs whites)
http://www.counterpunch.org/cockburn06112004.html
Do some research for yourself Ronald Reagan was by far and away one of the worst presidents in modern times. The fact is George Bush Sr. and Nancy ran the country for the last 3 years as his brain was completely gone. Sorry I don't sing his praises as he has none, but I'd ***** on his grave if given the chance. - BeardDob, on 06/04/2008, -1/+1LOL

- skiboy352001, on 06/04/2008, -4/+1No, as someone who champions fair elections around the world, he understands what can sometimes cause undue influence on peoples choices, and wished to remain neutral until the democratic party gave everyone an opportunity to vote.
He made his decision based on whom he believed to be the best candidate for the Democratic party. And would have made the same choice regardless of who had won the popular vote.
The system is not set up so the person with the popular vote wins. It is set up to allow party leaders to correct the candidate of choice if they believe the popular vote candidate may not be in the best interest of the Democratic Party.- jerrycurley, on 06/04/2008, -0/+0The point is, if he believed what you said, then why did he wait until the primaries were over to endorse?

- NelsonR, on 06/04/2008, -6/+4Maybe Obama will be a new kind of politician but there are many doubts.
Carter had reservations of America's role within the M.E. and I agree. Yes, Israel should survive but not at the biased expense of American foreign policy.
Why do I bring this up, just today Obama met with AIPAC and said many disturbing impractical and idiotic agenda's.
1. Jerusalem should remain in the Israeli sphere of absolute influence. Excuse me but many religions and many nationalities have a rightful claim to that land. An international city would enhance peace not that biased rhetoric.
2. The Israeli's should leave all occupied lands and all settlements eliminated. In turn all Arabs nations would recognize Israel and enforceable peace pacts by the U.N. in place.
3. Israel should stop condemning Arab nations from seeking nuclear weapons when they themselves have them. A little bit hypocritical if you ask me.
Obama seems to be toeing the Israeli agenda to the detriment of America as has most administrations so I see no Change and Hope he speaks about. Want to bet he is just another politician that services special interest groups?
The Arabs have every right to despise America and it's policies, Obama by his comments will continue this course. Nothing changes. AIPAC satiates the Jewish agenda as does Lieberman so expect future hatred and attacks to continue, we earned it.- gttim, on 06/04/2008, -1/+3"In turn all Arabs nations would recognize Israel and enforceable peace pacts by the U.N. in place."

It is the history of this world that one tribe, group, nation whatever, fights and wins another groups land that group leaves, the new tribe takes over. Sure there are always some sour grapes, but acting like the previous tribe has some historic claim to that land is silly. Its war, land was won, now get over it and stufu.

Every small business will raise there prices to cover the tax increase
And tax increases ALWAYS work there way down to the middle class where the big money is - stix213, on 06/04/2008, -1/+3Here is a quick quiz for you, to see how you understand complex tax issues like this:
1) When your boss or the company you work for gets a large tax increase (like what Obama will do) will that:
A) INCREASE the likelihood that you will be given a raise, because less money in the company accounts means they have more to throw your way!
B) Change nothing.... tax money is made of paper, so that means it just grows on trees
C) DECREASE the likelihood that you will be given a raise, while increasing the likelihood you will get laid off.
If you picked C you are correct!!!! When your boss or company has less money, that generally doesn't translate into them giving more to you..... Generally in reality the company wants the same amount of money as before the tax increase.... So they keep the money they were going to give you instead. Kinda neat how the Democrats have this whole economy thing figured out right?
2) Here is another tough one.... In the same scenario (Obama being elected and taxes for all those "wealthy" businesses and business owners goes up) which of the following is true:
A) Your personal buying power will INCREASE because prices will magically drop for most products you buy, and inflation will slow, because businesses won't need to make up for the losses due to the additional taxes.
B) Businesses don't care about taxes, they probably don't pay them anyway, so your personal buying power will remain the same
C) Your personal buying power will DECREASE because businesses across the board will need to increase prices to cover the increase in taxes, overall inflation will increase as a result.
Ohhhh you are good if you chose C again! I can't slip anything past you people!
Yes ohhh yes.... If Obama gets his way and all those evil wealthy people & businesses have to pay more of their fair share (those same wealthy people that provide nearly all the products and services you purchase, and the same people you probably work for) Your own personal income will likely not increase as fast as a result (assuming you keep your job), and the buying power of the income you still get will be reduced.
Utopia here we come!!! Obama 2008!!!!!
Here is an extra credit question for you.... Lets see if you are catching on....
If taxes on Oil companies are increased (because they have more money than oil now a days) which is true:
A) Gas prices will drop, because the Oil companies will learn their lesson about trying to keep all that money. Inflation will decrease, because nearly all products and services utilize oil in some form. Your personal buying power will increase, because will lower gas and oil prices all other products and services available can reduce their prices.
B) Nothing will change to gas prices, because what does money have to do with gasoline?
C) Gas prices will increase even more! Oil companies will increase gas prices to the consumer at an even greater rate to offset their additional tax losses. This will result in increased inflation as nearly all products and services have to increase their prices to pay for additional gas costs and costs of raw oil products (such as plastics, and other stuff made from oil). Your personal buying power will decrease as a result of increased taxes on oil companies
Ohhh my god.... You picked C again didn't you? I can't believe you got that one too!!!
Yeah, if you increase taxes on oil companies, the money doesn't actually come from the oil.... it comes from the people who pay at the gas pump and the companies that buy oil based products like plastics and jet fuel..... which still gets paid for by consumers in the end. So a tax increase on the evil oil companies really just increases your own taxes.
Obama 2008 FTW!!!!
- supermanly, on 06/04/2008, -3/+2You seem to be forgetting that money does not grow on trees. A president cannot just lower taxes because people want that; there are debts which must be paid. What a good president should do is not have an enormous military so that the citizens back home do not have to pay as much. So what if McCain keeps the Bush tax cuts. It just means that we'll be passing down the tab to my generation, the younger ones who are still in school or college.
- davewashere, on 06/04/2008, -0/+1So you're saying it's bad for the country if we "debt and spend" on unprecedented levels for 8 years while a Republican is in the White House and then let a Democrat come in and take the blame for the economic mess that is the inevitable result?
