- cindywren, on 10/07/2008, -0/+14And Colin Powell? When will he endorse?
- paintgrl, on 10/07/2008, -1/+3No way. I bet the odds are real high on that one.
- Olon97, on 10/07/2008, -1/+4After the last debate. Although apparently bush has been pleading with Powell to stay silent. If he cowtows to Bush's request though, any respect I have for the man will be gone.
- oldhick, on 10/07/2008, -2/+1And you know this how? You were in the room?
- Olon97, on 10/07/2008, -4/+1Just hearsay from the liberal rumor mill. You know, the mirror image of where you get 100% of your information from.
- oldhick, on 10/07/2008, -1/+3I don't really run with the rumors and I assume you're attempting to imply that I listen to the Republican rumor mill. Trust me, I do not listen to such vile filth.
- Olon97, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2My apologies. I'm happy to admit that the Powell rumors are likely pure speculation. He does have statements on the record, however, that are very complimentary towards Obama's foreign policy approach.

- webwatch, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1I hope Powell endorses too. It certainly is a trend among Republicans who care about this country - here is another one from the wife of a former GOP governor and chair of McCain's primary committee -

- paintgrl, on 10/07/2008, -0/+11I wonder if this will change anyones mind who is a McCain supporter or undecided? I doubt it, but more the merrier.
- wherearemymeds, on 10/07/2008, -0/+11I am a Nebraska native and today is my birthday.
THANK YOU LILIBET!!!!
And Chuck, I hope you follow her lead.
Although Nebraska is classed as a Republican state, in practice, in been far more moderate and generally tries to go by common sense instead of empty rhetoric.
And I understand it's only for one electoral vote, but hey, it's my birthday!!
GO HUSKERS!!!
GO LILIBET!!!
VOTE OBAMA!!!!!!- jodimcmullen, on 10/07/2008, -0/+6Happy Birthday, may your wishes come true.
- wherearemymeds, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1thanks!!
And I have one simple birthday rule; your birthday isn't over until you get what you want.
So, technically, my birthday won't be finished til Nov 4.
Hope you celebrate it with me!!
- wherearemymeds, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1thanks!!
- jodimcmullen, on 10/07/2008, -0/+6Happy Birthday, may your wishes come true.
- saddlehorse, on 10/07/2008, -0/+7Good for Lilibet...she's exhibiting good Midwestern values like the folks in Iowa and Indiana. The Republican Party has become unrecognizable to most of us who are "of a certain age." Surely our government should be more than a lobbying vehicle for corporate concerns and big business. Pandering to multi-national insurance companies, the health care/pharmaceutical industry and Wall Street investment banks has gotten us into this fix. Here's one Republican who's voting a straight Democratic ticket this year.
- FazS, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4This is what democracy is about. Supporting the right candidate for the challenges of the time, not blindly following a party candidate no matter what (supporters on both sides guilty of this). Mrs Hagel has probably lost her some friends over this announcement - a brave and selfless move.
- fishbeef33, on 10/07/2008, -1/+5I can't wait for the "women shouldn't be allowed to vote" people to rear their heads here, to coin a now popular phrase. There are people out there (including Rush Limbaugh, who I listen to for a good laugh occasionally) who think that ALL of their perceived problems with government today, i.e. liberalism, are due to the 19th Amendment. I am ready with my "bury" button for all of you.
Good for Lilibet Hagel for voting her conscience and not her party. - algaeturd, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Hear, hear! Love to see republicans come around and make a stand for truth and honesty.
- cnguyen, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2oh Lilibet!! cutest name ever
- SpenderH, on 10/07/2008, -5/+1How do these news.yahoo.com stories get duplicated so much on digg?
Isn't this proof that McCain isn't just another GOP conservative? And I don't care what Hagel's wife thinks. I do care what Hagel thinks, and he hasn't endorsed McCain which is a slap in the face, but it shows that McCain isn't a Bush clone. McCain is a better person, and will be a better leader than Bush.
McCain is also a better person than Obama. Search YouTube for "khalid al mansour" and watch the top 3 videos to learn the truth about Obama's past connections to middle-east radicals. How about you don't digg me down until you've watched at least one of the videos, okay?- TruthinessHurts, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Nope, it's actually proof that even Republicans can't keep choking down the failure and corruption any more.
It shows that McCain IS a Bush clone, and that loyal Republicans can't allow more of the same disastrous policies to harm America any further.
McCain cheated on his crippled wife. How does that make him a better person?
He lies in his campaign ads. That could only make him a "better" person if morals, ethics, honor, and integrity are NOT factors in your decision making.
LOL
Judging from the total lack of honor or ethics in your defense of McCain, you are the last person who can judge who is a better person. Trying to deceive other Americans and trick them into believing GOP lies doesn't make you a "better" person either.
These stories are popular on digg because most of us can smell the ***** a mile away. Oddly enough people are disgusted by those of low character like the GOP and hope that by bringing their behavior into the light that the right wing would have the honor to be shamed by their behavior and would stop.
Uh, I did watch McCain's sad little video that attempts to make the argument that because Obama knows a guy who was a criminal in the past, that Obama is a criminal now.
All this while rightard cheerleaders pretend that they don't know about slimeballs McCain pals around with like Haggard and Ifshin and G. Gordon Liddy and Olly North and of course Phil Gramm, author of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley act and architect of the financial "crisis".
It's disgusting to pretend you don't know about those guys.
It demonstrates a lack of honor. Don't you respect America enough to be honest?
Oh, and I wasn't going to digg this, because who cares what Hagle's wife thinks, but I dugg it for you. - SpenderH, on 10/07/2008, -2/+0So you actually watched the video of Sutton talking about al-Mansour before you dugg me down? There really is honor among diggers. And that's not a McCain video, it's a news video from a cable station in New York.
And to call Phil Gramm "architect of the financial "crisis" gives him too much of the credit which belongs to Chris Dodd and Barney Frank.
I'm not trying to "trick" anyone into believing "GOP lies". I'm trying to get to the truth, which is why I want to see Obama's records. - cmootoo, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Sure. Have McCain release his medical and military records.
Your attempts to 'get to the truth' start out on youtube with propaganda slanted against Obama. Do you really expect to be taken seriously?
- TruthinessHurts, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Nope, it's actually proof that even Republicans can't keep choking down the failure and corruption any more.
- whatthefu, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Who cares what a politician's wife thinks?
- webwatch, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1 I hope Chuck Hagel endorses too.... he has said nice things about Obama.
- wherearemymeds, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1ask bill clinton, bob dole, or half a dozen other reps/senators who have had their spouse run for their political position and win.
Or, you could ask cindy---the point is, this is something that is generally kept private--for a politico of any kind to willingly announce it, IS, in and of itself, a pretty large statement.
- brainboy77, on 10/07/2008, -2/+1im sorry but lilibet? when did digg turn into a giant pussy?
