- basicben, on 10/11/2008, -138/+16The author is obviously a liar or an idiot. Obama announced his candidacy from Ayer's home. So much for the casual, barely knew Ayers line of crap in the obvious propaganda piece.
- cmootoo, on 10/11/2008, -3/+82Ayers had a meet and greet for him one time back in 95. After that became a bid deal in the media a number of senators from both sides of the aisle came on CNN to say that the practice is not uncommon. A lot of times functions are set up in influential people's homes and they attend, especially during campaigning and they may or may not know the host beforehand.
You're obviously trying to hold on to the one thing that the GOP has left. - coltrane68, on 10/11/2008, -3/+54A friend of mine (who is not a particularly prominent citizen, just a good guy) had a similar meet-and-greet for a politician running for higher office in my home state. I am quite sure that the candidate and my friend had no relationship at all prior to that event, and I don't think that they have any relationship now (other than occasional solicitations for donations when the candidate is running for reelection - which I receive as well).

All this stuff is doing is encouraging flaming, especially with these articles being always so biased.

- justguessing, on 10/11/2008, -4/+130When FactCheck exposes the Ayers smear, then the McCain campaign attacks FactCheck. This article is thorough - in a perfect world, those that need to read it will.
- consonance, on 10/12/2008, -34/+5McCain has criticized FactCheck? Link, please? Because that would be highly hypocritical of McCain, considering that he's cited FactCheck in some of his campaign commercials attacking Obama.
- geneusutwerk, on 10/12/2008, -0/+22Steve Inskeep: Have you come back to your advisers at any point and said — for example, the ad that ran with your name on it saying that Barack Obama supported comprehensive sex education for primary school students, something that factcheck.org said was wrong. Have you ever gone to your staff and said, "Take that ad off. It's not right"?
McCain: It's factually correct. It's absolutely factually correct, and you can go on my Web site and you can see the exact language of the bill that Senator Obama sponsored. But the point is that if he had agreed to the town hall meetings that I asked him to do all around the country, like Jack Kennedy and Barry Goldwater had once agreed to do, the tenor of this campaign would be dramatically different. If we'd have gone around the country, and stood side-by-side before the American people and listened to their hopes and dreams and aspirations, the whole tenor of this campaign would be dramatically different. I'm proud of the campaign we are running, the ads are factually correct. And if someone named factcheck.org or anybody else doesn't agree with it, I respectfully disagree with their conclusions.

In short, this was a mainstream foundation funded by a mainstream, Republican business leader and led by an overwhelmingly mainstream, civic-minded group of individuals. Ayers' involvement in its inception and on an advisory committee do not make it radical – nor does the funding of programs involving the United Nations and African-American studies.
This attack is false, but it's more than that – it's malicious. It unfairly tars not just Obama, but all the other prominent, well-respected Chicagoans who also volunteered their time to the foundation. They came from all walks of life and all political backgrounds, and there's ample evidence their mission was nothing more than improving ailing public schools in Chicago. Yet in the heat of a political campaign they have been accused of financing radicalism. That's Pants on Fire wrong.- smith288, on 10/12/2008, -2/+1Ignoring how this civic-minded group was manipulated to have the moneys redirected to Ayers supported "globalist" politically motivated educational programs?
- iguana99, on 10/11/2008, -3/+87The problem is these McCain/Palin ads & statements are directed towards people who want to believe these sorts of things, because they're already "uncomfortable" with Obama - whether it's because of his race or supposed islamic faith or some other factor. This line of attack provides a seemingly rational basis on which to cast conscious judgement on his character by those who already have an unconscious bias.
Such people are unlikely to be swayed by facts. Even if they read and accept this particular rebuttal, they will probably go on to find other explicit reasons to justify their emotions.
Those making the attacks, of course, know this. So, basically, these attacks represent the McCain/Palin campaign's attempt to manipulate its own voters, to fire them up. Really, they treat a certain segment of their voters as suckers. Too bad so many of them are.
Perhaps there are people in the middle, who might have raised an eyebrow at this accusation, that are comforted to read that Obama's association with Ayers was not nearly as insidious as the GOP attacks would suggest...- oldgal, on 10/12/2008, -0/+8I rather suspect that the folks who buy into these claims are folks who made up their minds early-on based on the muslim emails. The polls are showing that these attacks are not helping McCain's numbers. So why are they continuing? The only acceptable reason I can think of is to make sure these supporters get out and actually vote. Not the type of behavior I want in my president.
- Inkorrekt, on 10/12/2008, -4/+2Well,anyone who loves country must be scared of what Ayers did to this country. After knowing what Ayers did, Barak Hussein Obama was mentored by Ayers. Obama's political career was built by him. If someone gives me lots of money, I would be scared. If 50 to 100 million dollars were exchanged, this must raise a Refd Flag.Educatiton was a front cover for evil intent. We are under serious threat of attack from our enemies. If only our enemies can get one of their friends elected as President, it is a silent surrender of this great country. Election of Barak "Hussein" Obama is death to America as is shouted by our enemies in the middle east.America is a free society built upon free enterprise. Obama's policies are Antiamerican. Every communist Leader talked about CHANGE. Communism failed all over the world. Election of Obama will be the resurrection of Communism in the USA. If Europpe loves Obama, he should migrate to Europe and become the Leader of the Socialistic Union of Europe. America was built on Capitalism. Socialism will destroy America. Every Freedom loving American must be scared of Obama.
Please vote NOBAMA in November and SAVE AMERICA- iguana99, on 10/12/2008, -1/+1Exactly. Thank you for demonstrating my point so clearly.
Get an education. Learn to spell and use proper English grammar. And don't be such a sucker. - smith288, on 10/12/2008, -2/+1Obamas "change" is another word for revolution. - newrebel, on 10/13/2008, -1/+0if you knew me
For the record I'm a 40ish single parent. I have 2 sons that live with me for the last 14 years. I make about 30,000 a year and live from pay check to pay check. I've got great parents who have been married longer than I've been alive. I was raised by my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. My great grandmother was Cherokee Indian and she babysat me and my sister most of our younger years. I can still remember her making buttermilk biscuits from scratch and loading them down with hoop cheese and fig or grape preserves from vines in the back yard. How many of you can say you've seen an Indian let alone been partically raised by one. I graduated in a senior class of 30 and although I haven't seen any of them if they called I'd be there for any one of them and they would do the same. Can you say the same.
I've been to a Jimmy V celebrity golf tourney and crashed the celebrity banquette. There I was between Terry Gannon (former NC state basketball player/ESPN announcer) and Vinnie Del negro (also former state basketball player at this time a San Antonio spur) in the buffet line to blind to find a phone to call someone to come pick me up. Everybody was cool they just took my drink and let me stay. Me in by Panther hat and Harley Davidson shades. Later I wondered to the tennis courts where I passed out. Nobody was offeneded or called the law I wasn't arrested. They just left me there to sleep it off. I live in a great area in NC. Wish you could experience this place.
I've pissed Michael Jordan off so bad instead of renting the top floor of the Hilton in Greenville NC as he did every year, he bought the whole hotel for the weekend just to keep me out of the lobby. Jordan's not the same person you see on TV take it from me he's a dick. Sort of the way I feel obama is.
Now Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish and Richard Roundtree, the real Shaft. They will match you drink for drink and sit and talk all night. I've even talked for about 30 minutes with Mr. and Mrs. Lou Holtz. They are great people Lou even asked me to wait with his wife while he went to get the car.
Last Saturday I went to the laundry mat. Here I was a white guy being taught how to use the dryer from a couple of guys of the mexican persuasion, they barely new english but we communicated. I was 30 cents short when this black dude walked in and gave me change. Nobody was talking politics and even if we were where I'm from the situation I think would have worked out the same and we got along and I hope we do so after this election. No matter whose elected their still gonna be my president and I hope they keep their word and fix things. To all you Obama/Biden supporters I think your all idiots but your hearts are in the right place and that's what counts.
In closing I have one thing left to say...
yyeeeeeeehhhhaaaaaaaaa wildcard bitches :)

- modernjazz, on 10/15/2008, -2/+1"idiots" being those who are familiar with communism, and don't want it here? America - where no one will make more than $250,000, where the largest transfer of wealth from the rich to the poor in world history, is poised and ready to happen? Idiots are the ones who are championing in this wave of communism and are completely unaware. The left wing media takes a story about Obama's political history with Ayers, about which he has been less than truthful (in Dem speak that's called lying), and the headlines portray McCain as the liar. Palin is too, of course, and Bush. Idiots might be those that bitch about everything related to our country for 8 straight years (beginning with Gore losing with less class than previously thought possible), many of whom live here at this pathetic excuse for a web site, and then become shocked when investors lose confidence in Wall Street!
Communism sucks, as you'll all learn soon enough.

Lenore Annenberg supports/endorses and donates to McCain, her and her husband, funded the board that Obama and Ayers sat on.

- DEIx15x8, on 10/12/2008, -13/+3Do you realize that McCains campaign is fully funded by the people, while Obama's campaign is paid for by the corporations and lobbyists?
- VogonPoet, on 10/12/2008, -3/+9We can tell you're a McCain fan because you lie just like his campaign. Both campaigns have corporation funding. Obama's doesn't accept lobbyist dollars and has set a record for the number of small-donor donations over the internet. You know, that thing McCain is still trying to figure out.
- DEIx15x8, on 10/12/2008, -3/+4McCain continues to follow public financing while Obama does not. In case you have yet to figure out why it's a big deal here is the definition from commoncause.org:
"What is public financing?
Public financing is a voluntary system that gives a limited amount of public funding to qualified candidates for office.
Public financing of elections means that our elected officials work for the voters, and not for the special interests. It allows lawmakers to focus on the issues that concern their constituents, like jobs and education, and not on doling out pork to campaign contributors. It also levels the political playing field, giving all citizens a fair shot at getting elected.
In full public financing systems - also known as "clean elections" or "voter-owned elections" - a candidate must demonstrate public support by collecting a certain number of small (usually $5 or $10) donations from voters, and must agree to not accept any further money from private sources. The amount of public funding received is usually determined by the average cost of a race for that office over the last few election cycles. There is also a possibility of receiving extra "fair fight" funds if the candidate's opponent opts out of public financing or if the race is targeted by independent expenditures.
Some states and cities also have partial public financing systems. Under these systems, candidates still raise private money, but they are eligible for matching public funds. The presidential public financing system is an example of this. Partial public financing systems offer candidates some freedom from fundraising, but not to the degree of full public financing."
Now why does it sound like public financing is the unwashington way of doing things. Does that mean that McCain is going to be the candidate of change since he is already doing things different than Washington while Obama continues to bow down to Washington lobbyists. - cheezintern, on 10/12/2008, -3/+5I gave money to Obama, I must be a powerful corporate lobbyist?

- newrebel, on 10/12/2008, -48/+7SON OF A BITCH FISH
The parish priest went on a fishing trip.
On the last day of his trip he hooked a monster fish and proceeded to reel it in.
The guide, holding a net, yelled, "Look at the size of that Son of a Bitch!"
"Son, I'm a priest. Your language is uncalled for!"
"No, Father, that's what kind of fish it is - a Son of a Bitch fish!"
"Really? Well then, help me land this Son of a Bitch!"
Once in the boat, they marveled at the size of the monster.
"Father, that's the biggest Son of a Bitch I've ever seen"
"Yes, it is a big Son of a Bitch. What should I do with it?"
"Why, eat it! Of course. You've never tasted anything as good as Son of a Bitch!"
Elated, the priest headed home to the rectory.
While unloading his gear and his prize catch, Sister Mary inquired about his trip.
"Take a look at this big Son of a Bitch I caught!"
Sister Mary gasped and clutched her rosary, "Father!"
"It's OK, Sister. That's what kind of fish it is, a Son of a Bitch fish!"
"Oh, well then, what are you going to do with that big Son of a Bitch?"
Sister Mary informed the priest that the new Bishop was scheduled to visit in a few days and that they should fix the Son of a Bitch for his dinner.
"I'll even clean the Son of a Bitch", she said.
As she was cleaning the huge fish, the Friar walked in.
"What are you doing Sister?"
"Father wants me to clean this big Son of a Bitch for the new Bishop's Dinner"
"Sister! I'll clean it if you're so upset! Please watch your language!"
"No, no, no, it's called a Son of a Bitch Fish."
"Really? Well, in that case, I'll fix up a great meal to go with it, and that Son of a Bitch can be the main course!
Let me know when you've finished cleaning that Son of a Bitch."
On the night of the new Bishop's visit, everything was perfect. The Friar had prepared an excellent meal.
The wine was fine, and the fish was excellent.
The new Bishop said, "This is great fish, where did you get it?"
"I caught that Son of a Bitch!" proclaimed the proud priest.
"And I cleaned the Son of a Bitch!" exclaimed the Sister.
The Friar added, "And I prepared the Son of a Bitch, using a special recipe!
The new Bishop looked around at each of them.
A big smile crept across his face as he said,

“We must be alert to the CIA agents who would promote the polarization of our society. We
must examine the evidence which indicates that fake revolutionaries, who are inciting
insurrection in our cities, have had their pockets and minds stuffed by the CIA.” – Vincent
Salandria, 1971.
“How could we have done the FBI’s work better for them?” –Mark Rudd, Weatherman leader.
“You don’t have to be a cop to do a cop’s work.” – Ward Churchill, ex-Weatherman
“God, what a great country. It makes me want to puke.” – Bill Ayers, Weather Underground
Public opinion is now broadly aware of the close personal relationship and friendly affinity
which has existed for two decades between the candidate Obama and the rehabilitated but
unrepentant and defiant Weatherman terrorist bombers, William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. As
David Axelrod told the Politico, “Bill Ayers lives in his neighborhood. Their kids attend the same
school … They’re certainly friendly, they know each other, as anyone whose kids go to school
together.”32 Ayers has written about his involvement with the group’s bombings of the New York
City Police headquarters in 1970, the U.S. Capitol in 1971 and the Pentagon in 1972. Obama’s
quest for elective office started in 1995 with a fund-raising meeting held at the home of Ayers and
Dohrn. A $200 campaign contribution from Ayers is listed on April 2, 2001 by the “Friends of
Barack Obama” campaign fund. The two appeared speaking together at several public events,
including a 1997 University of Chicago panel entitled, “Should a child ever be called a ‘super
predator?’” and another panel for the University of Illinois in April 2002, entitled, “Intellectuals:
Who Needs Them?” Ayers and Obama are friends. Ayers was the key man in giving Obama his
first big visible and public break in the foundation world, his job as the chairman of the board of the
Annenberg Chicago Challenge.
The basic facts of the meeting at the Ayers-Dohrn abode are these: ‘In 1995, State Senator Alice
Palmer introduced her chosen successor, Barack Obama, to a few of the district’s influential liberals
at the home of two well-known figures on the local left: William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.
While Ayers and Dohrn may be thought of in Hyde Park as local activists, they’re better known
nationally as two of the most notorious — and unrepentant — figures from the violent fringe of the
1960s anti-war movement. Now, as Obama runs for president, what two guests recall as an
unremarkable gathering on the road to a minor elected office stands as a symbol of how swiftly he
has risen from a man in the Hyde Park left to one closing in fast on the Democratic nomination for
president. “I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to
learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,” said Dr.
Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the
informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. “[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her
successor.” Obama and Palmer “were both there,” he said. Obama’s connections to Ayers and
Dohrn have been noted in some fleeting news coverage in the past. But the visit by Obama to their
home — part of a campaign courtship — reflects more extensive interaction than has been
previously reported.’33
The period between 1991 and 1995 is the time when Obama assembles his network with its
various components – the politically connected lawyer Allison Davis, the mafioso slumlord Tony
Rezko, and the terrorists turned education operatives in the service of the foundations, Bill Ayers
IV. Apprenticeship with Foundation-Funded Terrorists: Ayers and Dohrn 135
and Bernardine Dohrn. It is a group redolent of the foundations and thus of the left wing of the
intelligence community, and it will remain in place around Obama until the present day. Obama
was now preparing for his first run at elective political office. To do this, he needed a base of
activists, supporters, and donors. Obama’s pedigree will be clearly exhibited by the method by
which he chose to go about addressing this task. As we have already seen, Obama can be
considered as a product of the Ford Foundation and its associated satellite foundations. Obama’s
mother worked directly for the Ford Foundation. Obama himself worked for the Gamaliel
Foundation, a satellite of the Ford mother ship. This is his time as a “community organizer.”
Obama’s church was fully stocked with theologians whose careers had been promoted by the Ford
Foundation. Thus, we may say that Obama’s hardware configuration was largely due to the efforts
of the Ford Foundation and its satellites.
The software, as we have stressed, came largely from Zbigniew Brzezinski and his associates in
the Trilateral Commission-Bilderberger-New York Council on Foreign Relations orbit, who had
been training and indoctrinating Obama for almost one and a half decades at this point. Since many
traditional functions of the US intelligence community had been privatized into the world of front
companies and especially the foundations and nongovernmental organizations, we can for purposes
of brevity and clarity label the matrix of Obama’s software as the left wing of the intelligence
community, or the left CIA. This is the network to which Obama quite naturally and indeed
inevitably turned when the time came for him to run for the Illinois State Senate. Over time,
intelligence networks cannot be hidden, since the same persons often appear in radically different
roles. This means that their momentarily announced loyalties and purposes were spurious and
fictitious: what counted all along was their loyalty to the intelligence network to which they belong.
Obama wanted to represent that part of Southside Chicago which is called Hyde Park, a
neighborhood which is split between the comfortable homes of professors at the University of
Chicago on the one hand, and a brutal and impoverished black inner-city ghetto on the other. Hyde
Park is a neighborhood split by fault lines of racial tension. The political importance of the
University of Chicago for the US intelligence community can hardly be overestimated. The
University of Chicago’s troubled frontier with the black ghetto has been something of a concern to
the US ruling financier oligarchy for some time, since relations there have been so bad that the
university might have to move away, a colossally expensive project. A whole cottage industry of
academic-grade poverty pimps and foundation operatives has grown up to provide border guards for
the line of demarcation between the university and the ghetto. Those who succeed as border guards
and gatekeepers along this line are marked for preferment; the striving Obama power couple are one
example.
Another is Danielle Allen, who (like Bernardine Dohrn) has been the recipient of the largesse of
the MacArthur Foundation – in Allen’s case via a coveted genius grant, which is a program used to
promote philistine mediocrities to help dumb down the academic world, according to the general
program of the foundations. Allen has just become UPS Foundation Professor in the School of
Social Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey – she is the first black
fellow of that elite think tank, where the arch-oligarchical operative Bernard Lewis (a key apostle of
the Iraq war) also resides. Lately, Allen has been going on the radio, voicing shrill indignation over
internet attacks on the Redeemer. A recent puff piece on the postmodern Allen stresses her role as a
gatekeeper active in ‘the University of Chicago’s surrounding Hyde Park neighborhood, where
town and gown have a long history of … “interracial distrust.”’ Allen, the article goes on to say,
learned in Hyde Park that ‘it was impossible to ignore the poor and often violent world not far from
campus. Hyde Park today is a racially mixed, mostly middle-class neighborhood, but you don’t
136 Barack H. Obama: The Unauthorized Biography
have to walk far to find real urban blight. In the ‘50s and ‘60s, as the South Side of Chicago was
getting poorer and blacker, the university administration grew increasingly concerned that parents
would refuse to send their children to such a place. There were rumors that the university was
considering moving its campus out of Hyde Park. Instead, it launched an aggressive policy of urban
renewal, relying heavily on draconian eminent domain laws that said that if a private developer
owned 60 percent of a block, it could claim the remaining 40 percent through eminent domain.
Those losing their houses were mostly black, while the university was mostly white. One
consequence of this was a feeling of bitterness and suspicion toward the university that has lingered
for decades. All of this was troubling….’ (Merrell Noden, “At home in two worlds,” Princeton
Alumni Weekly, March 5, 2008) So this is the area where Obama decided to pursue his political
career, obviously as a black-faced gatekeeper and protector of the University of Chicago’s interest
against the black poor.
As the veteran public servant Larry Johnson showed on his noquarterusa.net blog, the truth was
that Obama WAS an employee of a Bill Ayers enterprise for about eight years. In reality, the
terrorist Ayers had been Obama’s boss: “Barack also was essentially an employee of Bill Ayers for
eight years. In 1995, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge was created to raise funds to help reform
the Chicago public schools. One of the architects of the Challenge was none other than Professor
Bill Ayers. Ayers co-wrote the initial grant proposal and proudly lists himself on his own website as
the co-founder of the Challenge. And who did William Ayers, co-creator of the Challenge, help
select as the new director of the board for this program? Barack Obama. Barack Obama was the
first Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. This appointment came at a
crucial time in Barack’s life. He was on the verge of challenging longtime state Senator Alice
Palmer for her job. When Barack decided to run, it is no surprise that he turned to William Ayers
and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, for help in organizing the campaign and in hosting his first
fundraiser in the district. Obama served on the board for eight years until the Challenge ended in
2003. Bill Ayers was intimately involved in the Challenge over this same time period.”
(Noquarterusa.net, April 26, 2008) This was in addition to Ayers’ well-documented role in
organizing the fundraiser that kicked off Obama’s first run for elective office in 1995. The old
provocateurs of the left CIA were now serving as a support network for the next generation of
domestic counterinsurgency operatives.
THE WEATHERMEN’S LONG MARCH THROUGH THE INSTITUTIONS HAS PRODUCED OBAMA
The University of Chicago is of course the home of the Milton Friedman Chicago boys, the archreactionary
or quasi-fascist economists who dictated the fascist austerity program imposed by the
Pinochet dictatorship in Chile in the middle 1970s, and who have helped destroy or impoverish
many other countries around the world from Bolivia to Poland to Russia. One of them is the
infamous Skull and Bones member Austan Goolsbee, a top economic controller of the Obama
campaign. But the intelligence community also has a left wing face. Here we find the Black
liberation theologian and Ford Foundation operative Dwight Hopkins, who shuttles back and forth
to Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ. Here also we find the residue of many intelligence
community operations of previous decades, and in this context one group stands out above all
others: the veterans of the more extreme factions of Students for a Democratic Society, the most
important left wing organization of the 1960s and indeed the largest left-wing political formation in
all of American history. Here we find, in other words, a group of left-wing radicals who are well

advanced in the long march through the institutions, working within the system and achieving
remarkable positions of institutional authority in the process:
‘Today one of the approaches used by these types is the “long march” through the (presumably
“bourgeois”) institutions. (See [a] discussion of it by “Progressives for Obama” supporter, Fidelista
and former SDS leader Carl Davidson.) Of course, the “long march” referred to is that taken by
Mao and the People’s Liberation Army in 1934. Now, Davidson et al. apply the concept to the
tactics of the “left” inside various “reform movements” such as the anti-war movement. Davidson
was one of the organizers of the 2002 anti war rally at which Obama first spoke out against the
war.’ (Steve Diamond, ‘Who “sent” Obama?’ globallabor.blogspot.com, April 22, 2008)
Diamond also notes: ‘Bill Ayers appears to be attempting to lead a similar “long march” in the
education world. Ayers is a vigorous advocate of local control along with a related concept called
“small schools,” most likely because he believes it gives him the potential to build a political base
from which to operate. He has discussed these ideas in speeches and writings on his blog. As he
said in a speech he gave in front of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela in late 2006: “Teaching invites
transformations, it urges revolutions small and large. La educación es revolución- ironhide, on 10/12/2008, -1/+15nice to see that you provided no sourcing for that at all.

” (Steve Diamond,
‘Who “sent” Obama?’ globallabor.blogspot.com, April 22, 2008)
Some of Obama’s friends were openly terrorists and bombers from the incendiary Weatherman
faction, like Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. Others did not join the Weathermen in their long
years of underground urban guerrilla struggle: here we find such figures as Carl Davidson and
Marilyn Katz. Assorted leaders of various successor organizations to the Black Panthers and/or the
Black Liberation Army will also appear. The common denominator of many of these figures is that
they were seldom the spontaneous radicalized student militants that they pretended to be, but were
generally elements of pollution: police agents, provocateurs, wreckers, sent in to the radical student
left to do a job of sabotage, discrediting, and crippling.
If Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn had been the authentic left-wing proto-fascist anarchists and
bombers they have always claimed to be, they might well have faced an appointment with the gas
chamber or the electric chair, given their implication in criminal conspiracies which led to the
deaths of a significant number of persons, including police officers. Instead, Ayers and Dohrn have
been rewarded and taken care of by some mysterious force through their receipt of prestigious
endowed professorships in which they now have tenure. Was the hand that rewarded Ayers and
Dohrn the same hand which has promoted and fostered the career of Obama? All indications are
that it was, and that it was a hand attached to the left side of the US intelligence establishment.
Right-wing commentators will rail that Ayers and Dohrn, Wright and Obama are authentic
communists seeking to carry out the revolutionary program of Karl Marx. The argument here, by
contrast, is that all of these figures are synthetic frauds who have been deployed to carry out the
program of finance capital, as articulated through certain key parts of the US intelligence
community who have never concealed their close relations with Wall Street. The difference is
highly important. It is the difference between an ignorant right-wing hallucination which deserves
to be mocked and laughed at, and an actual historical philosophical analysis of the systematic
deformation and manipulation of social life by the immense power of an intelligence community
that boasts a legal budget in the neighborhood of $100 billion, which is supplemented by hundreds
of billions more coming from drug-running, gun-running, slave trading, and other nefarious
activities, plus what the foundation endowments contribute. Only if they are understood in this way

When clinton entered office the national debt was $4.4T. When he left office it was $5.8T.
The national debt increased $1.4T under Clinton. That's about 3%/year increase.
When he entered office, the budget deficit was $281B. When he left office, the budget deficit was $133T.
Our national debt today is $10.2T
Under Bush the debt grew 8%/year, under Clinton it grew 3% year. Bush sucked bad. But so did Clinton.

- matttay, on 10/12/2008, -1/+0Again, your statement is incorrect. When you say "we...were not increasing out debt by spending more than we took in in taxes" you are wrong.
That is the deficit. Clinton spent $133B more than he took in in his last year in office. In his first year in office, he spent $281B more than he took in.
In every year Clinton was in office, he spent more than the country took in. That is a fact. That is why I provided the link, so that you could look this up yourself.
Clinton's "budget surplus" that you often read about was a projection into the future if cuts that he proposed AFTER he had left office were enacted. No future president has an obligation to follow those. And, yes, Bush could leave a budget surplus for Obama if he wanted to. But it's funny-money accounting.

It is just fine with you to have a professional relationship with a fellow who gets his picture taken trampling an American flag?
Sorry, but I was in pro politics for a few years and a basic piece of campaign work is knowing a bit about the folks who raise money for you. This is just basic CYA stuff. It is simply beyond belief that the Obama's didn't know who these folks were when he accepted their help launching his political career.
I ask: If this was a GOP candidate getting their start courtesy of a KKK church bomber from the 1960's, would it be OK if the bombs blew up when the candidate was a kid?- fugazied, on 10/12/2008, -0/+6Dude, Sarah Palin has quoted Westbrook Pegler (Anti-semite and racist who suggested assassinating FDR was a good move) in her speeches - READ http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/12/opinion/12rich.h ... Obama has never quoted anyone like that in his speeches, using their words as if they were a role model. Also have you seen the list of republicans, democrats, lawyers and education institutions who have relationships with Ayers? It is HUGE. The guy is a reformed ex-terrorist, he was a terrorist when Obama was a kid. What is wrong with your mind if you cannot comprehend the easily found facts?
- comgen, on 10/12/2008, -3/+7The Obama campaign just needs to run a TV spot highlighting " who " Bill Ayers is.
( educate the McCain camp )
or more to the point " how does / did Obama know of Bill Ayers the person ", meaning,
up until the campaign, did he know of him as " Terrorist Ayers " or simply
" Bill Ayers - a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago ", that
works / contributes to various areas of education, one being " Youth Reform and Educational Out-Reach ".
At this point, I think being honest and/or Obama " HIMSELF " drawing to attention, his perception of
Ayers ( now or then ) would at the very least, show that he's not hiding anything, while also providing
some " FACTS ". It's a shame it might come down to this ( having crap that someone else did slung in his face ), and more importantly, McCain should know better than anyone, that when we are young we make mistakes,
granted " Ayers " was extreme, none-the-less, he appears to be reformed and an example of a model citizen.
Look, I did some REALLY crazy / semi-criminal stuff when I was young, so did many of my friends, however, with the exception of a few, we all " GREW UP " and overall have become successful business men and woman or more importantly, good all around humans.
" ...long as a person does not carry over child-hood / youth troubles and " growing-pain " quirks, into adulthood, we should not judge anyone's current " person " on the past " - while there are some exceptions, I do my best to live by such.
McCain and Palin really need to be-careful labeling people or what they are " vaguely implying " about another
" AMERICAN citizen and Fellow Senator ", plus the Bush administrator should consider addressing these " Palin ", point the finger, accusations. I understand that Bush has NO real place in the current Campaign, however, he is our current President ( a leader, a moral man, a humanitarian ), a should be EXTREMELY offended by " Palin's Terrorist " comments and accusations " ( anyone that says, this is just politics....is full of it...this is childish and UN-American ). If her claims are valid ( and the majority of DECENT Americans, know they are not ), there has been a major failure in the " Department of Homeland Security " and " The overall war on terror - Bush launched ".....being that " A REAL DANGER - Obama " and his Terrorist pals, have climbed pretty high up in the US Government and/or Key Educational institutions.
Palin has commented that the real motivation ( comments ) is to bring attention to Obama's " Bad Judgment ". So, does this mean that, by working with a group of people, involved with " Helping Children " for example, is " Bad Judgment ", lets not forget, makes you dangerous and a pal of terrorist ?
and...let me clarify something here, since a few people have bashed my " Opinions / thoughts / rants " on other forums and elsewhere. My political stance true, I do support Obama, based on what his campaign has to offer, I agree with them completely on most issues, we need to try out some new things, revamp a few, do away with this and that, more or less what has been done over and over again is obviously NOT working. My little " one-sided political rants " as one person called them, are not based on " I WANT YOU TO FOR VOTE OBAMA ", all I can say is " for each their own ". Some have even suggested that I have a problem with " Palin " because she's a woman. No.....!!!!, anyone that has listened to a thing she has said.....well...that's why !!!.....and at the risk of even more bashing.......I was pulling for Clinton, not because she was a woman or democrat, I felt this was a " person " that could get things done and do them well. Granted before dropping out of the race, the Clinton camp, started mud-slinging and I started to pay Obama a little more attention.
For me this ( McCain-Palin DANGER / TERRORIST crap ) is personal, in that, I DO NOT tolerate, complete and utter ignorance or any form of defamation of character, especially coming from the mouth of an American Government Official, even worst, targeting another American Government Official........and why ?? over a damn vote or two.
If McCain and Palin has nothing to offer, poll numbers dropping, feel they are losing and something must be done. (1) McCain find a new running mate - PLEASE (2) restructure ( hint: positive restructure ), (3) prepare to work with Obama for the next 4 - 8 years (4) avoid burning any bridges.
While I do not completely agree with McCain or Obama on several issues, when separate, combined and working together I feel they would make a great team. All three ( Palin excluded ), seem ( my opinion ) to be sincere in wanting to make this already great nation even better.

Bill Ayers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ayers
Academic career
Ayers is currently a Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Education. His interests include teaching for social justice, urban educational reform, narrative and interpretive research, children in trouble with the law, and related issues.
He began his career in primary education while an undergraduate, teaching at the Children’s Community School (CCS), a project founded by a group of students and based on the Summerhill method of education. After leaving the underground, he earned an M.Ed from Bank Street College in Early Childhood Education (1984), an M.Ed from Teachers College, Columbia University in Early Childhood Education (1987) and an Ed.D from Teachers College, Columbia University in Curriculum and Instruction (1987).
He has edited and written many books and articles on education theory, policy and practice, and has appeared on many panels and symposia.
Civic and political life
Ayers worked with Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley in shaping the city's school reform program,[36]and was one of three co-authors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge grant proposal that in 1995 won $49.2 million over five years for public school reform. In 1997 Chicago awarded him its Citizen of the Year award for his work on the project. Since 1999 he has served on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, an anti-poverty, philanthropic foundation established as the Woods Charitable Fund in 1941. According to Ayers, his radical past occasionally affects him, as when, by his account, he was asked not to attend a progressive educators' conference in the fall of 2006 on the basis that the organizers did not want to risk an association with his past.- DEIx15x8, on 10/12/2008, -6/+1They can't, he's too busy running smear and hate ads. I wish just once he would do what he claims to do. When I watch TV I'll see tons of anti McCain ads one anti Obama ad and one pro Obama ad. IMO that means that while McCain may be 100 percent anti that 100 percent can still not match up to Obama's level of anti campaigning.

You brought up an excellent point.
" anti campaigning personal attacks " ? or do you mean " Political Point of View attacks on certain issues " ?
Taking jabs at each other, in terms of they don't agree on the same budget plan,
or an indifference in continuing " war mode " etc....is not a major problem.
Any high number of TV spots targeting McCain could be justified, based on some of his
past " Political Based Burps " and it is important to note....while actively employed as an Government official. McCain has been in office much longer than Obama and does have a rather lengthy Government history ( good or bad ), In other words, there's an overwhelming amount of Government Documented Information that can be used to argue McCain's stance on issues. But, keep in mind that even though this could be seen as an unfair advantage, he's still a front runner in presidential race, this alone is a big positive and should say something about his character.

The Keating Five ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five )
The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators, Alan Cranston (D-CA), Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ), John Glenn (D-OH), John McCain (R-AZ), and Donald W. Riegle (D-MI), were accused of improperly intervening in 1987 on behalf of Charles H. Keating, Jr., chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of a regulatory investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB). The FHLBB subsequently backed off taking action against Lincoln.

This mess was an important and well documented, even considered historic by some, landmark in Government history. McCain's involvement directly or indirectly, is questionable, however, I do feel the Obama Campaign, painted a somewhat shadier picture of McCain then they should have. Though, they appear to have used relevant, and seemingly, accurate media clips, documentation, etc. So any perception that this was an " defamation of character " attack focused on McCain, is left to personal interpretation. My view point, McCain was never charged, he's running for President, his past is the past and I suppose, long as " HE LEARNED " from this mistake, I'm whiling to over look this issue as I prepare to cast my vote.
Negative ads based on documented track records, while in office or while holding some form of Government / State level position = FINE, GOOD, I will accept this as " Political BS ", and if the issue is important enough / I have any doubts, I'm going to do some research and not just take the WORD of some TV spot.
For example, here in NC, local news investigated claims that crime was the highest it had ever been during the time an opponent was is office. The TV Spots, implied " the entire term ". What they uncovered, 1 ( one ) year out of many years of maintaining an extremely LOW national crime rate, crime spiked.....once....since then it has remained low ( even one of the lowest nationally ). The claim was not a complete fabrication of truth, though they conventionally left out 99% of the term in office and low crime rate stats. So, here we have political BS, that should be researched and not taken at face value.
Negative and extremely damaging accusations purposely targeting a ( PERSON, Fellow American ) well respected human that, just so happens to be a Senator ( tagging him as " Dangerous, Terrorist Pal, and knowingly attacking his moral, family and patriotic character / values " ) = BAD, not acceptable on any level, Un-American, and should never be tolerated. It has NO PLACE in politics, nor our daily lives....point blank - vindictive behavior. Throwing this out serves no logical purpose outside of " Political Gain " , by taking advantage of hopefully a small number of ( moral and political ) ignorant individuals, that still exists today ".
It's clear, that Palin took the low road here, it would take a miracle and damn-red-handed-point-on-evidence for her to spin this as " Oops " or " It was taken out of context " or " ya see here's the evidence, I was right ".Now, she did uncover at least one fact....." A politician lied about something "........ummmm...maybe he was sucker punched by the Unfair media community at the time, not the same as " what do you read " though.
I'm certain if asked " are you buddies with ( KNOWN ACTIVE ) terrorist and/or have you ever plotted an attack against the American people or think the country is one giant toilet " the truthful answer would be NO !
.......and " Kill Him " being shouted based on nothing more than " FUD ", is shameful, further more it clearly shows that America still has some growing up to do !

His choice for Vice President, Palin, has now been labeled a criminal for abusing her powers as a Governor. With McCain as your leader you will have more years of war, more years of criminals running things in your Capital and more distain and rejection from the World Body. With Obama this will change. You can not continue with another “George Bush” in political office. You have the ability to bring about revolution to your very ailing country. In that case let's vote McCain, he won't do anything for Obama's plans since they don't exist, but I guess following Obama's logic that goal will still be met regardless of who is in charge then.

EXACTLY LIKE THE KU KLUX KLAN use to do......... - rexcrouch, on 10/12/2008, -1/+2Bill Ayers has tried to confess to bombing the Pentagon but the FBI will not take him to trial. If there were substantial evidence to prove he had executed the bombing; I have NO doubt that the FBI would have arrested him, he would have been convicted, and still setting in a jail cell somewhere. Claiming responsibly for another person’s crime that you did not commit is a psychological problem where the person demands attention but is not an actual criminal.
Some people take this short association with Ayers which Obama believed to be for the good of children and distorted it to serve their own political agenda. The people clinging to this association are apparently desperate to find anything wrong with Obama; I would be interested if these people could produce anything criminal on the parts of either Ayers, Obama, or the CAC that could be proven in court. Nope, nobody seems to be coming forward with evidence, just conjure, speculation, and conspiracy theories.

The Annenberg Foundation is the mind-child of Walter Annenberg, a “lifelong Republican and former ambassador who was appointed by Presidents Nixon and Reagan”. When Walter Annenberg died, his wife Leonore assumed the position as chairman and president of the Annenberg Foundation. Leonore Annenberg endorsed McCain for President, McCain has accepted and touted her support.

McCain deserves to lose by 20 points for his Ayers ***** alone. He is trying hard to make his country’s democratic process into a mockery. That is really sad IMO because the non-American science geek that I am has grown up admiring the United States for their productivity in technical and scientific fields from the Apollo project to molecular biology. Now this intellectual capital is slowly being squandered as rightwing Luddites recoil in fear and hate from knowledge corroding Church dogma, and new technologies rendering obsolete many traditions. Bulging expenditures on foreign wars, drug wars and surveillance wars are doing their part to dry up the wells of ingenuity. I’d like to see the still-biggest research nation on the planet regain its hope for a better future and elect a President who considers wildlife genomic studies and planetaria as something other than boondoggle, space exploration as something else than a commercial for military strength, stem-cell and climate research as anything but a political football. And as far as ethics go, in fact, a cursory review of the past Obama campaigns would reveal a ruthlessness never seen in any of McCain’s efforts. Ayers was a founding member of the militant Vietnam-era anti-war group the Weathermen. He was investigated for his role in a series of domestic bombings, but the charges were dropped in 1974 due to prosecutorial misconduct. He is now an education professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and actively engaged in the city's civic life.
Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a charity endowed by publishing magnate Walter Annenberg, a conservative, that funded public-school programs in Chicago from 1995 to 2001.
Let's look at a few, starting with the funder. Annenberg was a lifelong Republican and former ambassador to the United Kingdom under President Richard Nixon. His widow, Leonore, has endorsed McCain. Kurtz might just as plausibly have accused Obama and the foundation of "translating Annenberg's conservatism into practice."
