Head Of NYC Firefighters Union Attacks Giuliani s 9/11 Performance
tpmcafe.com — Giuliani s efforts to run on on his 9/11 performance have hit another snag as the president of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, New York s firefighter union, has vowed to sink his candidacy. As one would expect from an organization of firefighters, the UFA is not kidding around

- crxvfr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+52Hear Hear! Every time I see him on tv he's pumping the fact that he handled 911. I remember nothing but chaos, like screwed up, ...or no communication on the ground between emergency workers, bad judgment calls, etc. He's trying to win the vote on fear. 911 was the perfect opportunity to groom him to be just like George.
- mastercheif, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17***** Rudi. After 9/11, rudi decided to kick all of the FDNY firefighters out of ground zero. This sent all of the firemen into rage, they were there trying to save and recover their fallen brothers. For days after 9/11, firemen were fist-fighting with cops over this whole ordeal. Of course, non of the media covered it because that would have been very "un-American" of them. My father is retired from the FDNY. He is a die-hard republican (Bush supporter, ***** Iraq etc). If Rudi wins the republican nomination, he is not voting.
- sailor, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2Everytime you see him on TV...strange...I keep up with politics and I have never seen him
"pumping the fact that he handled 911"...I have heard that bad judgment was used by the Port Authority...so why don't you go back to watching TV or nextime get a few real facts!- Devrdander, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6He always refers to the fact he was in new york during 9/11 in his debates as justification that he can deal well with pressure... i would find clips on you tube but i don't want to listen to the moron talk. Granted i've only seen 2 of the republican debates, but he did it in both.
- CMOSLogic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Sailor what you need to do is STFU until the pathological liar in your worthless ass gets over yourself and your Rudy penis worship.
- DigDugDigger, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Mr. 911 didn't even read the 911 Commission Report. With Rudy's past I thought the negative ads would make themselves, but maybe its up to us...
- framitz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2My first impression of the Giuliani horses ass was that he is a total coward. Sorry, but that's what I see.
If he somehow manages to get elected we will be in for more trouble than ever as a country.
- Albionshores, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14I wonder if the union will go as far to say they will support whoever reopens a fresh 9-11 independent inquiry, held in public, to establish Giuliani's position.
Could put the cat amongst the pigeons. - DrPaul2008, on 10/11/2007, -3/+51"...as someone who lived through the attack of September 11...". He's such an ass. Finally, I hope that people start realizing that his survival of 9/11 makes him no more qualified to be president as my mine, or any one else's survival. Irregardless of how irrelevant that is, he is a big government, pro-war, fascist. That, I believe, is very relevant. The fact that the man has made a fortune on 9/11 doesn't sit all that well with me, either.
When can we finally dismiss Rudy, and McCain, as the jokes they are, as candidates?- kittynipples, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14You mean simply living through 9/11 doesn't qualify you as an expert in foreign policy?
- kooft, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7"...as someone who lived through the attack of September 11..."
That's a strange statement. I mean everyone who was alive, regardless of geographic location, on September 12th certainly lived through the attack of September 11th. 9/11 affected us all, but the survivors are those that were in the WTC and surrounding buildings (emergency personnel included). I realize that statement doesn't say 'survived' but it does imply a lot.
- Elwood19k20, on 10/11/2007, -0/+29Ghouliani failed at his position on 9/11. Today he makes millions giving speeches just because he was there. Was he in the towers rescuing people? No. He deserves every bit of criticism given by every honest hard working American. If you truly believe that you have to vote for him or vote for the terrorists, then you are the one falling for the conspiracy.
- Tyrsson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Giuliani was a despot when was Mayor of New York City. I shudder to think of what he would do as President with the Patriot Act firmly in hand along with all the other powers our Legislative branch has ceded to the Executive in the name of "security." I hope many more stories like this one get out and that the rest of the nation listens to what New Yorkers have been saying. After all, the press could easily have looked at Bush's terrible record of Gubernatorialship in Texas but they chose instead to accept whatever W had to say at face value. We all know how that turned out!
- NerdyNinja, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1Ahnold for President! Jah!

- sailor, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1I suspect you are not a Texan...if you are then you are a liberal.
Bush was a OK govenor...Rick Perry is a criminal...I am conservative, but unlike liberals I don't cover up for criminals.- Tyrsson, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I am a Texan and I am not a liberal. I am, however, an educator and, as such, have an extremely negative view of Bush's tenure as governor. His educational "reforms" were nothing but smoke and mirrors, something the rest of the nation is only learning too late. But then, as a Texan I understand what little power a Texas governor wields and would be singularly unimpressed with any Presidential candidate who used the Texas governor's office as a qualification for leading the nation, especially when paired with such a dismal record of failed business ventures as Bush's.
As for Perry, I'm not really sure what you're referring to. But then, I didn't vote for Perry either. It seems your assumptions are pretty much worthless all around.

Especially as someone who tends to be more conservative, and is a catholic, he is a joke.
Anyone who uses something like 9/11 to furthur there own political agenda is a very very bad person and should be sentenced to federal pound you in the @$$ prison for a very very long time.
given all the democratic and republican candidates, this guy is the worst.- blaze4metal, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6The republicans can't possibly be backing Rudy. The right hates him because he's pro-choice, a ***** husband, etc.
The left hates him because he's a Bush clone when it comes to foreign policy (doesn't really understand it but darn it he's a decider!). It basically puts Hillary in the white house. - sgtbutterscotch, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Your argument is a joke.
Because he tends to be more conservative and a Catholic, he is a joke? I don't know what kind of world you live in buddy, but just because someone believes in different things, doesn't make them a joke. And what makes someone a bad person for using something most people perceive as good (his response to 9/11) to further is his own agenda? That's like Bono using his examples of activism to further his own agenda of trying to get first-world countries to help third-world countries more.

- nickymouse, on 10/11/2007, -9/+0Ok... the keyword here is UNION. Take a look at how much money they donated to the DNC or any other DNC supporting PAC. Big Labor and Democrats go hand in hand. So of course the're going to say ***** about any conservative.
- nrtikman, on 10/11/2007, -12/+2The guy's a union leader and hardcore Democrat..and he's attacking Guilani..
If this were Fark.com..it would be getting the 'obvious' tag... - THX1979, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14"I--I went down to the scene and we set up headquarters at 75 Barkley Street, which was right there with the police commissioner, the fire commissioner, the head of emergency management, and we were operating out of there when we were told that the World Trade Center was going to collapse. And it did collapse before we could actually get out of the building, so we were trapped in the building for 10, 15 minutes, and finally found an exit and got out, walked north, and took a lot of people with us." - Rudy Giuliani
“But right before the south tower collapsed, I noticed a lot of people just left the lobby, and I heard we had a crew of all different people, high-level people in government, everybody was gone, almost like they had information that we didn't have.” - Joseph Pfeifer, Battalion Chief (F.D.N.Y.) - nrtikman, on 10/11/2007, -13/+2The guy's a union leader and hardcore democrat and he's attacking Guilani..

- nrtikman, on 10/11/2007, -14/+2The guy's a union boss and a hardcore dem and he's attacking Guilani..
If this were Fark.com..it would get the 'obvious' tag - zanzzz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12The key word here is scumbag. That is what Giuliani has become. He has completely prostituted himself by cashing in at every opportunity regarding 911. Before the towers fell he was a widely despised mayor that had worn out his welcome. If Ronald McDonald were mayor at the time he would have been given the profiles in courage treatment so many were quick to adorn Rudy with. Building a presidential campaign on the foundation of such opportunism is one thing but what is truly unconscionable is the millions he has "earned" from speeches and the like directly profiteering from other peoples tragedy. He should give every dime of it (minus expenses) to those who lost love ones that day. Fear mongering and profiteering both financially and politically from 911 reveals what a complete piece of human excrement Rudy really is!
- soot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Guiliani's nothing but a shameless opportunist. His only platform is 9/11, and what a botched one it is.
- sailor, on 10/11/2007, -14/+4"The guy's a union boss and a hardcore dem and he's attacking Guilani.."
This needs repeating...it is Democrats against Republicans.
Giuliani has never used 911 for anything or said he was a hero ...etc..etc. I can't believe you liberal sheep can't think for yourselves. This is simply what it is ...a FUD campaign led be a bunch of clueless liberals who don't have a platform to run on...they would rather slander everyone else to achieve power, rather than coming up with solutions.- Danial, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7And you're calling liberals sheep?
Go look at how many times he has referenced 9/11, retard. - Dweller99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That post was hysterical... until I realized you were actually serious. Have you ever listened to a single speech or debate by Guiliani since he entered the race?
- Danial, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7And you're calling liberals sheep?
- withears, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6The ONLY thing that Rudy did was... cry.
He showed compassion for the fallen firefighters, but beyond that, his performce was average, at best.
Rudy doesn't get a pass for something terrible happening on his watch. - tony4moroney, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7when will the nyc firefighters actually get mainstream media attention for their complaints against giuliani?
- gigabyte3d, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2When the USA vote for Ron Paul.
VOTE RON PAUL
- gigabyte3d, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2When the USA vote for Ron Paul.
- n8k99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8remember, Giuliani was the one who had the Emergency Command Response Center put in the World Trade Center. That was after the first attack on the buildings, which should have made him aware that they were targets, then to stick the Command Post, which was to direct Emergency Responses for the whole city in the towers was just sheer lunacy.
- pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8rudy giulani running as the 9/11 candidate makes as much sense as ray nagin running as the katrina candidate.
- ljw5021, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Katrina was handled excellently. The fault lies with the planners who built New Orleans where it is. Every civilization that settled there has been wiped out due to it being lower than sea level. It's asking for trouble. Plus, if people would have left when the evacuation orders were given, Nagin wouldn't have had to deal with their dumb asses.
- Mavtek, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5All I have to say is Wiki Rudy and you'll see the many instances of criminal activities.
Rudy is a crook, republican he is not, I'll be voting Ron Paul thank you very much. - shinedout, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2I was on the ground - 5 blocks away when 9/11 happened. Yes, it was chaos, but as the day progressed the people remained calm as everyone walked uptown. Guliani's handling of firefighters is something I have no idea about, but as far as handling the people's fear that day - he did a great job. Hell of a lot better then Bush.
- liberalplacebo, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2WHOA!! A union that won't support a Republican candidate! Who would have seen that coming? lol Nothing but politics. Like a union would EVER support a Republican...it would never happen.
Plus the unions are still pissed at Rudy for making the decision to use heavy equipment to clean up. The unions wanted to continue to pick through everthing by hand to try and find bodies....- thegnode, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Yeah, how dare those "unions" (I would say, firefighters) want to treat the remains of their brothers with respect. What liberal tards!
- ljw5021, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1He handled it better than any of you morons could have, so I don't want to hear it. The head of the firefighters union is just hopping on the Anti-Conservative band wagon with no real ideas to back it up.
I wish more people in this country thought for themselves. - geekee, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1swift boat
- cheesehead, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I've never understood why Guiliani was outside his famous command bunker at the time of the collapse. Wouldn't a hero's job have been running rescue operations from this impregnable fortress he had built?
- tofucrew, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Before you assume that this is typical anti-republican union activity, know this:
The Uniformed Firefighters and Fire Officers unions of the FDNY endorsed Bush during the last election. This is not some union head head hopping on a bandwagon. You will find that many of the members of this union are die-hard republicans.
And if you think they have "no real ideas to back it up", you have posted without knowing what's going on. These guys are pissed, and a quick google search will show you why.
Sorry to burst to your bubble.- deldigger, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1correct

- framitz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3My boss at the time of 9/11, who lives in California, did more for the country on 9/11 than the Rudy Piece O ***** ever did. He was our CIO (VP Information technology) and was at JFK that morning when they shut things down. He volunteered to help move some security equipment and lost his index finger when it was dropped. Never even heard him complain about the injury, he was just doing what he could to help out in the crisis.
How much did Rudy bleed? - lschofield, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Check out http://www.hesnoaltarboy.com for a growing collection of Rudy Giuliani's political and (very public) personal history. There are quite a few articles in there that should be getting ALOT of attention. I find it difficult to understand why he ranks so highly in the polls. Don't people know all of this stuff? And no one made anything about his world series rings, which is black-and-white obvious.
- MistySteele, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not a Giuliani fan myself, but interesting and disconcerting to see the further refinement of the swift-boat technique as a common political method. Will be interesting to see who comes out about the other candidates next year.

go somewhere else.
Del - maz2331, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Guliani has a lot of vulnerabilities to criticism. Several of his cronies have been publicly exposed for criminal behavior, he's a "New York Conservative" whose views are not what could be considered "Conservative" in much of the country, and he just doesn't have an attractive "look" in the face. The fact that the firefighters are beginning to "swift boat" him already is a bad sign - he's created a lot of enemies.
Oh - and the fact that he's a lawyer is also considered a bit of a negative as well.
