- fatbyjhnsn, on 10/13/2008, -2/+13McCain's plan is so radical, people didn't believe them when they told the truth! Wow.
- col381, on 10/13/2008, -1/+15Every other first world country has Universal Healthcare. EVERY SINGLE ONE.
America is the only country where :
- You have to have permission from your insurer to have an operation
- You have to go to another hospital in order to save money for the insurance company
- People REGULARLY go bankrupt when they fall ill (around a million people per year)
- People REGULARLY get refused treatment
- The vast majority of the population has NO HEALTHCARE AT ALL
And now the really strange fact, per capita, Americans spend 3 times as much on their healthcare as the rest of the world - so even though the cast majority of people don't get the care they need, as a nation we spend three times as much per capita on that healthcare than countries where EVERYONE has free health care.

The time has come for Universal Heathcare, McCain cares only about maintaning the profits of profiteering corporations, Obama cares about you and your family getting the healthcare you need.
- btschul, on 10/13/2008, -6/+1Socialized medicine is not the answer. Prices go up and quality goes down.
- lweissberg, on 10/14/2008, -1/+5Should I assume from your comment that when you retire you plan to opt out of Medicare? Or that we should scrap it altogether? Because that's socialized medicine, too.
- grbradsk, on 10/14/2008, -1/+5Poppycock dude. Supposedly "socialized medicine" is leaving US health care behind (and note that we spend *much* more on health care):
Life expectancies from Wikipedia:

* Australia: . . 80 years in 2002, 80.39 years in 2005
* Italy:. . . . . . 79.25 years in 2002, 79.68 years in 2005
* France: . . . .79.05 years in 2002, 79.60 years in 2005
* Germany: . . 77.78 years in 2002, 78.65 years in 2005
* UK: . . . . . . 77.99 years in 2002, 78.4 years in 2005
* USA: . . . . . 77.4 years in 2002, 77.7 years in 2005
US health insurance has absolutely no productive function other than middlemen. Forget ideology and follow the facts. We should nationalize catastrophic health care and preventive health care. Ban insurance except by health providers like Kaiser which would then have a simple competitive model: level of service per price. That's a mix of market and government that would work great. - MadKennyP, on 10/14/2008, -1/+3Except in all countries where it's been implemented.
- AchaIemoipas, on 10/14/2008, -1/+2Actually, even Cuba's health care system kicks yours's ass.
- zeitgueist, on 10/14/2008, -1/+2You're wrong. My source: Every single other country in the developed world.
- col381, on 10/15/2008, -0/+1"Socialized" is not a dirty word, remember that next time you use the "Socialized" Post Office, or call the "Socialized" Fire Department, or Ambulance, or Police, or go for a drive on the "Socialized" roads.

- kw7777777, on 10/14/2008, -0/+10McCain's Health care plan....there is no such thing! You call that a plan sir? If you call stripping people of their employer covered health-care a plan....well sir you have officially lost it!!!! Obama '08! Get yourself and friends,family members,co0workers out to VOTE,VOLUNTEER AND DONATE! Go to barackobama.com to see how you can help. WE NEED YOU BAD!!!!
- sk11, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1If people buy their own plans, they are going to end up paying more, since employers can negotiate for better healthcare deals for their employees. I know education isn't important to most Americans, but healthcare?! People supporting such policies are shooting themselves in the foot and then shooting the people who come to help them.
- winstonsmith303, on 10/25/2008, -0/+1You want even more proof this stuff is going on? Look here:
