- iamtruthiness, on 03/23/2008, -11/+361Real experience you can lie to. Did she really think these outrageous claims about "sniper fire" wouldn't be challenged with evidence? Wouldn't have we heard of the First Lady were put in danger by weapon fire? Is she a liar or is she clinically delusional?
- theaceoffire, on 03/23/2008, -3/+71*cough* Liar *cough*
I don't think this is campaign ending though. She didn't stop when she lost popular, delegates, and states won, why should she stop just cause she was caught lying about life and death?- Lyph5, on 03/23/2008, -0/+60The fact that she's pushing on with her campaign even after her losing has become a fact proves she'd make a terrible president. I mean, look how well that's gone for Bush in Iraq.
- kymike, on 03/24/2008, -0/+10Now that is an excellent comparison, thank you.
(And I am an ashamed former Republican, btw, who now supports Obama.)
- kymike, on 03/24/2008, -0/+10Now that is an excellent comparison, thank you.
- Lyph5, on 03/23/2008, -0/+60The fact that she's pushing on with her campaign even after her losing has become a fact proves she'd make a terrible president. I mean, look how well that's gone for Bush in Iraq.
- laserblazer, on 03/23/2008, -1/+31Being a liar and being clinically delusional aren't mutually exclusive.
- SpaceRibs, on 03/23/2008, -0/+8"So?"
- sarixe, on 03/23/2008, -0/+3right, one can be the direct effect of the other.
- JettaMan, on 03/23/2008, -75/+3You know, I don't support Hillary but there is a difference between lying and being wrong. You would have a hard time recalling events that took place over a decade ago too. You Obama-tards need to calm down.
- EvilDr.X, on 03/23/2008, -1/+81If those events involved me being shot at, I'm pretty sure I would remember them well enough.
- jerrym123, on 03/23/2008, -1/+40There is a very big difference between not recalling an event versus fabricating a sniper attack which caused your arrival ceremony to be canceled. However knowing this lying bitch she will spin it as the media is out to get her.
- JEWestbrookJR, on 03/23/2008, -0/+32-"On my 10th birthday, I was going to have a party at the zoo, but right when I got there, a terrorist suicide bombed it in the name of allah."
-"No you didn't, I have pictures of it right here. You had a lot of fun with your friends."
-"Oh, that was so long ago, it's hard to recall these things. Sorry, honest mistake."
- JEWestbrookJR, on 03/23/2008, -0/+32-"On my 10th birthday, I was going to have a party at the zoo, but right when I got there, a terrorist suicide bombed it in the name of allah."
- Rahodeb, on 03/23/2008, -0/+18You're right, there is a difference. This is lying. Being wrong would involve something that wasn't simply lying.
- artliquide, on 03/23/2008, -0/+14These details, whether or not she was under sniper fire and whether or not there was a ceremony, are too big and too memorable to fade enough to be forgotten altogether.
- Gerz1219, on 03/23/2008, -1/+17If she had been under sniper fire, it is conceivable that she would have forgotten it by now. After all, she made it to safety, so maybe the experience wouldn't stick in her head a decade later.
The opposite isn't true. The mind doesn't just invent a sniper attack that didn't happen. Memories fade, they don't expand. It's pretty clear she made the story up to sound bad-ass.
I exaggerate my Running of the Bulls story in bars, because I enjoy engaging in lies and deceit. I would not make a good president. Neither would Hillary Clinton. - twinklyJesus, on 03/23/2008, -1/+5Jetta Man...she has a long history of "haziness" when recalling events. Especially if it involves over-stating what actually transpired.
Oh, and FYI, I'm no Obama fan. - Aitese, on 03/23/2008, -0/+11People like you scare the living crap out of me. I fear one day I'll be accused wrongly of a crime and someone like you would be in the jury. Prejudices and all. The best lawyers in the land with irrefutable proof wouldn't be able to convince you what you BELIEVE to be true is not.
A man who was just vindictive I could deal with...someone totally blind to the truth is a scary concept.- JettaMan, on 03/24/2008, -3/+1You got that backward. You are accusing her of a crime she didn't commit. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. If you were wrongly accused, I would be a dream because I give you the benefit of the doubt. Get your head out of your ass.
- Aitese, on 03/24/2008, -1/+4So...you're saying she DIDN'T lie? Despite the video? Despite peoples comments showing it's unlikely she had the cities mixed up?
- JettaMan, on 03/24/2008, -2/+2OMG. So people's comments have an actual effect on whether or not she is lying. Amazing. I'll have to let the courts know about this new method of deduction.
- JettaMan, on 03/24/2008, -3/+1You got that backward. You are accusing her of a crime she didn't commit. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. If you were wrongly accused, I would be a dream because I give you the benefit of the doubt. Get your head out of your ass.

- Jwoey, on 03/23/2008, -3/+17leave that joke alone, its tired. needs to rest.
- AMSRay, on 03/23/2008, -0/+20Clintonally delusional. It's a condition in which the individual wants what they say to be true, therefore it is true. And anyone who disagrees with them has to be doing so because of their hate and ignorance.
- consoneo, on 03/23/2008, -1/+7Ooohhh... You mean it's politics. I see!
- twinklyJesus, on 03/23/2008, -0/+3It depends on your definition of "delusional." ... "I was not delusional in Bosinia..."
- sarixe, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1hm. if you're neo-con, it's "unpatriotic", and if you're pro-corporate liberal, it's "hateful and ignorant". interesting...
- delmar14, on 03/23/2008, -12/+4Her last name is Clinton...
- theaceoffire, on 03/23/2008, -4/+1Her middle name is "Bastard"
- oxdeltaxo, on 03/23/2008, -1/+10Aren't all politicians clinically delusional?
- NightVortez, on 03/23/2008, -0/+5There are a few who aren't but everyone labels them as crazy.
- rrbest, on 03/23/2008, -1/+11Vote R- oh wait
- NightVortez, on 03/24/2008, -0/+3I don't know, I'd rather not vote or write in than have a conscience of voting for the lesser of two evils.
- rrbest, on 03/23/2008, -1/+11Vote R- oh wait
- NightVortez, on 03/23/2008, -0/+5There are a few who aren't but everyone labels them as crazy.
- TheAtomicMoose, on 03/23/2008, -0/+12The big news networks have said ***** about this, it is so frustrating. They know this will ruin their little ratings-fest that is the Clinton v. Barack showdown... HIllary told a straight-faced lie to her supporters, this deserves national attention.
- ninetimes, on 03/23/2008, -1/+8She's not delusional. The Clintons just know, from experience, that politics do not have to match reality. If you have the balls to stand up and tell ridiculous lies about how great you are and how awful your opponents are, some people will believe you. Some people will be completely convinced and never see the follow-up report about it being a lie.
And more to the point, if you can stretch out the time between the lie and the revelation that it's a lie, the lie has still shaped people's perception during that time.
If you go back and review Bill Clinton's years in office, you'll see the same lies and dirty tricks that you're seeing now in Hillary's campaign. The fact that people have forgotten about it and consider B. Clinton to have been a good present only demonstrates that these political tricks are successful.- crichton101, on 03/24/2008, -4/+1honestly, i think the main reason Bill is remembered so well is because Bush was far worse.
- FordTheFin, on 03/24/2008, -5/+4I think the biggest reason for folks thinking of Bill Clinton as awesome is that if you get punched in the gut for an hour (The Clinton administration), then thrown into a fire (The Bush Administration), after three seconds in the fire I'm sure you'd beg for the gut-punchings back.
- Xspire, on 03/24/2008, -2/+1here ye here ye
- moush, on 03/24/2008, -0/+2How do you explain people during the Clinton administration liking him and his surplus?
- theaceoffire, on 03/23/2008, -3/+71*cough* Liar *cough*
- thenativeraver, on 03/23/2008, -23/+133What a lying beeeotch.
- temporaryescape, on 03/23/2008, -0/+9i love how she stalls for time by describing the functions of the plane, while probably starting to question herself about her memory.
- chrissku, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4I'm sure Hillary will find a way to spin this down. I bet she's up there right now on her broomstick planning on what her campaign will do to downplay this.
- schroderr224, on 03/23/2008, -5/+4What the? A politician lied to us? Wow we should do something about it! Like vote in an election that's already rigged! YEAH!!!
- moush, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1Maybe she was under fire, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people here who wouldn't mind shooting her.
- AlphaToker, on 03/23/2008, -6/+356Lost in Translation...
Did you not know that "sniper fire" means "poem by a little girl" in Bosnian and "run for cover" is "strolling casually"
LOL please somebody wake me up from Hillatrix.- bonds, on 03/23/2008, -1/+4I'd probably run for cover to avoid the little girl.
- FizixMan, on 03/23/2008, -0/+13I'd probably run for cover to avoid Hillary.
- bonds, on 03/23/2008, -2/+1Oooooh, no way

- titlesaysitall, on 03/23/2008, -1/+10The only reason I am replying to this comment thread is so I can check this in my profile for future reference on how to win so much at the Internets.

- temsi, on 03/23/2008, -1/+5I know who Sinbad is, but him being a comedian is news to me.
He's never made me laugh... not even once.
- Schmapdi, on 03/23/2008, -4/+13To be fair - Sinbad is considered one of the sharpest political wits since Plato.
- adamchristopher, on 03/23/2008, -34/+9i am sorry but i ***** hate the word "friggin". digg me down.
- DephexTwin, on 03/23/2008, -0/+14Very well. Your request has been honored.
- twinklyJesus, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4o_O
- laterallateral, on 03/23/2008, -1/+12Ask and ye shall friggin' receive.
- FadieZ, on 03/23/2008, -0/+2I suggest you read "Introduction to frigginometry"
- homerang, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4I had to read that. It was a prerequisite for Funkonomics.
- rogerdonaldson, on 03/23/2008, -0/+5Truer words were never spoken. It would've been like Mondale getting called out by Norman Fell.
- verifex, on 03/23/2008, -2/+3While I don't think this is a HUGE gaffe, I do wonder, why in the world is she or the media making a big deal about this. What credibility is this giving her? Why risk being called out as a liar over something stupid like this? I'm not sure what this has to do with this election. Another thing, is Hilary claiming that her single trip to Bosnia is the extent of her foreign policy experience or something?
- DarthDiabetes, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1This is going to be a much-needed boost for Sinbad's career. Maybe he can play himself in the movie about Hillary's life that is no doubt in the works as we speak. Alternatively, I think he'd make an excellent Colin Powell.
- coredump0x01, on 03/23/2008, -2/+285C-C-C-CAMPAIGN BREAKER!!
- Dagreenman, on 03/23/2008, -6/+135Now this is just sad. Does she think we'll give her the nomination if she acts like a an old woman with dementia? At this point it has officially become a limbo contest for her. How low can she go?
- typo180, on 03/23/2008, -31/+3What in the world does this have to do with her being a woman?
- plumcarrot, on 03/23/2008, -21/+2yeah really.
- moresheth, on 03/23/2008, -1/+37It doesn't, which is why he didn't mention it, other than to use the word woman to describe her. The words "old" and "dementia" were the important parts. If I say that McCain is an old man with dementia, it has nothing to do with the fact he is a man.
- twinklyJesus, on 03/23/2008, -4/+1YOU RASCIST! /jk...
- laterallateral, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4It has the about the same to do with how overreaching, paranoid feminist views have something to do with women. Some feminists are women, some women are old and demented.
- prth8machine, on 03/23/2008, -1/+17It worked when she broke down crying a couple of times.
- yingjai, on 03/23/2008, -0/+5there was a quote somewhere that went something like... "warning: midgets will beat you at limbo"
- breached, on 03/23/2008, -2/+5Old people like to reminisce about things that didn't actually happen. It is why I hate going to the family Thanksgiving and have to sit next to my 60 and 70 year old relatives. The fact that America is considering to elect this 60-something lady or gasp a 70-something man is really quite shocking. "Senior moments" aren't funny when you are at that level.
- twinklyJesus, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4It's only "shocking" to self-absorbed, shallow morons who have no real grasp of the age of most of the Presidents when they were in office, or how rare it is when one is elected as young as Kennedy was.
You know, you should spend a little time talking with some of those 60-70 year old relatives, some of the wisdom they've garnered through decades of experience in life might rub off on you and help to make you look a bit less oblivious when you make public statements.
- twinklyJesus, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4It's only "shocking" to self-absorbed, shallow morons who have no real grasp of the age of most of the Presidents when they were in office, or how rare it is when one is elected as young as Kennedy was.
- kittnerrules, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1Dementia seems to play well to the public. She and McCain would make good running mates - seems like that's what she's going after.
- typo180, on 03/23/2008, -31/+3What in the world does this have to do with her being a woman?
- barandon0D9, on 03/23/2008, -8/+42Ouch.
- argaen21, on 03/23/2008, -5/+172Ready to lie from day one!
- plumcarrot, on 03/23/2008, -2/+7zing.
- McWombo, on 03/24/2008, -1/+1Buried for lack of exclamation point.
- shardayyy, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1Sending both of them created more time for him and his chubby fetish in the oval office :)
- plumcarrot, on 03/23/2008, -2/+7zing.
- diggrumpy, on 03/23/2008, -72/+9Wait a minute. I think she is referring to the plane she arrived in having to take evasive action as it landed, rather than her personally. It took some courage to fly into Bosnia at that time, under such conditions. Her personal skills at evasiveness are better exemplified by her behaviour over her tax returns.
- airiox, on 03/23/2008, -2/+50She said she had to "run" to their cars. i didn't see any running in that clip, did you?
- diggrumpy, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1Sorry - you are right - I somehow missed the end of the clip.
- noahhoward, on 03/23/2008, -2/+11I'm pretty sure everything she describes is standard practice for a military transport landing in a war zone. There probably never were any shots fired and she sure as hell wasn't rushing to her car.
- Aitese, on 03/23/2008, -1/+22What is wrong with you? What does she have to do man?! I mean, does it REALLY take her eating the still warm and beating hearts of infants? The lady is lying and there is PROOF of the lie right in front of you and STILL you make excuses? Please justify yourself
- rabidg00se, on 03/23/2008, -1/+1Read the rest of the comment.
"Her personal skills at evasiveness are better exemplified by her behaviour over her tax returns." He's obviously not a Hillary supporter.- Aitese, on 03/23/2008, -0/+3That's even scarier. The facts are clear but some believe that there HAS to be a villain and that anyone against Hillary has decided she'll do. It's not a case of heroes and villains...it's about what qualities you want in a leader. Telling bold faced lies is not one of them.
- diggrumpy, on 03/24/2008, -0/+0Sorry - you are right. I somehow missed the crucial end to the clip! I will pay better attention in future.

- Mothrog, on 03/23/2008, -1/+8Since when has anyone refer to shooting at a plane as sniping?
- LMaxey, on 03/23/2008, -0/+3God damnit! Hillary's wallhacking again! Need admin to ban!
- diggrumpy, on 03/24/2008, -0/+0Sorry - I missed the crucial end to the clip, you are all quite right!
- senatorpjt, on 03/24/2008, -1/+2Democrats think "assault weapons" are machine guns.

- airiox, on 03/23/2008, -62/+8End of Campaign? If I don't care I doubt many other non-Obama supporters care.
Politicians lie, is that anything new? McCain admitted to lying on 60 minutes for what he termed as "purely ambitious" reasons as to wether the confederate flag should be flown on state ground. No one seemed to care, especially not those voting in the primaries.- NoDrama, on 03/23/2008, -2/+30airiox, I think everybody with half a lick of sense cares when a person lies for personal gain.
- Cattywampus, on 03/23/2008, -9/+6Has there ever been a politician who *didn't* lie at least occasionally for personal or political gain? I'd be willing to bet that even Mr. Obama [gasp!] has done it on occasion.
- plumcarrot, on 03/23/2008, -9/+2He hasn't. Ever.
- Fafnir43, on 03/23/2008, -2/+16Cite your sources. If you can find anything Obama has done that is even close to this in scale, I will be very surprised.
- Cattywampus, on 03/23/2008, -9/+6Has there ever been a politician who *didn't* lie at least occasionally for personal or political gain? I'd be willing to bet that even Mr. Obama [gasp!] has done it on occasion.
- Thumper13, on 03/23/2008, -3/+6Flag flying.....or.....former first lady and Senator lying about being under fire while on a official visit.
I take the lying lady for the win Bob. - JavanSClark, on 03/23/2008, -1/+3The difference in this case is, this is a story the MSM is going to have to cover. The internet interest precludes it. Follow that up with the coverage it's already receiving in print, this will get out, and it will ave an impact.
- plumcarrot, on 03/23/2008, -6/+1you're boring.
- LMaxey, on 03/23/2008, -0/+3You've got ADD.
- laterallateral, on 03/23/2008, -0/+2I like peanuts!
- plumcarrot, on 03/23/2008, -6/+1you're boring.
- noahhoward, on 03/23/2008, -2/+1Airlox based on previous comments I'm assuming you implied the sarcasm tag.
- delmar14, on 03/23/2008, -0/+2The McCain people definatly care. If Hilary somehow extorts the nomination from Obama, then this will all come back to bite ever liberal in the ass.
- chrisgnv, on 03/23/2008, -0/+5I never understood the "politician's lie, what else is new" line of thinking. The fact that it is common makes it excusable? Maybe excusable for somebody running for a lower office, but the next president which has to turn around the trainwreck that Bush is leaving him/her? It may be common for politicians to lie for personal gain, but they should always be called out on it and it should never be acceptable.
What's most sad is that this story will be never make the national spotlight, but Obama's pastor preaching a fiery sermon is the holy ***** news of the week. Lying for personal gain (when you are running to supposedly selflessly help America) is excusable and OK, but being associated with a passionate not-politically-correct pastor (and not being a Republican) is horrible........ right?
- NoDrama, on 03/23/2008, -2/+30airiox, I think everybody with half a lick of sense cares when a person lies for personal gain.
- Krisgi, on 03/23/2008, -3/+240The President can't go for security reasons, but his wife can and takes their DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chelsea's very presence shows that Hillary lies about the nature of the visit from the beginning. There was NO RISK. Period.
- laterallateral, on 03/23/2008, -1/+11Hey, nothing stops a sniper round like the soft, moist, developing cranial tissue of a 7 year old child!
- InfamousAtheist, on 03/23/2008, -8/+61Is the MSM covering this?
I doubt they will but I sure hope they do. The only drawback to this story is that if she actually steals the nomination, the rightards will use it to crucify her. Please MSM DO YOUR JOBS!- Soulbow2, on 03/23/2008, -0/+13I've sent the link to MSNBC and CNN. I looked at Foxnews.com, but they didn't have a place to easily submit news stories.
- holymrack, on 03/23/2008, -1/+15Fox will do anything to bury it. They want Hillary on the ticket...Obama is too big of a threat to McCain.
- luxcanon, on 03/23/2008, -1/+2Too big a threat to Murdoch, you mean.
- Fafnir43, on 03/23/2008, -0/+6Same thing, surely?
- adrianmonk, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4Murdoch? What does The A-Team have to do with any of this?
- luxcanon, on 03/23/2008, -1/+2Too big a threat to Murdoch, you mean.
- pcghost, on 03/23/2008, -0/+7What part of "They report, they decide" did you miss?
- lintmonkey, on 03/23/2008, -1/+9That's because Fox doesn't report news.
- holymrack, on 03/23/2008, -1/+15Fox will do anything to bury it. They want Hillary on the ticket...Obama is too big of a threat to McCain.

- GhostyBoy, on 03/23/2008, -0/+14The media has guided this election every step of the way. The supposedly tight race is great for their ratings. For the next several months we are going to have to hear about this crap as though McCain actually has a chance against Obama.
Plus they censored Ron Paul, Gravel and Kucinich. Let's not pretend it didn't happen.- TheNeptune, on 03/23/2008, -6/+2You had me until the end. Ron Paul, Gravel, and Kucinich weren't censored. They gave you all the coverage you wanted of RP and did everything except make him the front runner you wanted him to be.
- GhostyBoy, on 03/23/2008, -0/+3Read the very last sentence of my comment.
- motivatedmama, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4Sorry, but I know Kucinich was censored. He wasn't allowed in the last two debates, one of which Alan Keys WAS! This while Kucinich still had great support. The Vegas debate decision was challenged by Kucinich and defeated only to be upheld by the Federal appeals court. It is true that the candidates have been cherry picked by the media. Kucinich was the original candidate to claim he was right about the war from the beginning and it didn't help him. I like to think that Obama has been an unexpected anomaly the media just couldn't deny.
- TheNeptune, on 03/23/2008, -6/+2You had me until the end. Ron Paul, Gravel, and Kucinich weren't censored. They gave you all the coverage you wanted of RP and did everything except make him the front runner you wanted him to be.
- ninetimes, on 03/23/2008, -0/+2Don't be so naive. It isn't the media trying to convince everyone that Obama and Clinton are neck-and-neck, it's the Clinton campaign successfully convincing the media of it. The powers that be decided a long time ago that Hillary was supposed to be the nominee, and the election was supposed to be a feel-good media campaign that would help beat the battle-drum for the democratic party. But no one other than Clinton was supposed to have a chance, certainly not Obama.
Right now, they're just trying to wage a PR campaign to see if they can convince Democrats that it's ok to overturn the election in favor of Clinton. If they think they can do it without alienating half of their own party, they will do it.

- cornflakepirate, on 03/23/2008, -1/+4If it's "not visibly from an airport tarmac", what's the plane doing in the background?
- desuexmachina, on 03/23/2008, -1/+7Yes, I am not digging you down because you're Canadian because I'm in the same boat. I'm digging you down for your lack of TV watching skills. There's obviously a military transport in the background about 2 seconds in to the video.
- Fafnir43, on 03/23/2008, -1/+6There is a C-130 (or possibly a C-17) behind her in the video. Tuzla airport is the only airport in Bosnia with long enough runways for one of those planes to safely take off or land. Hence, she was in Tuzla airport at the time of filming.
- lanemik, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4All the sudden everyone is a goddamned expert when it comes to runway requirements for C-130's and C-17's. The official operations guides for cargo aircraft is the AFI 11-2C-X, Volume 3. So for the C-17 it is the 11-2C-17, Vol. 3 and the C-130 is the 11-2C-130, Vol. 3. This is the publication that will inform you what the runway requirements for those aircraft are and you can find that publication freely at http://www.e-publishing.af.mil/. Simply do a search for 11-2C-130 or 11-2C-17 and in the list look for the Volume 3 (there is volume 1, 2, and 3 and sometimes special additions or editions).
The 11-2C-17v3 says the minimum runway dimensions are 3,500' by 90'. The minimums for the C-130 are 3,000' x 80' (typically, can go down to 60'). Both aircraft are allowed to land on unprepared (i.e. dirt) runways. A casual look at runway lengths from various google searches resulted in many runways that are capable of handling C-17s and C-130s, not just Tuzla.

- TheDiceMan, on 03/23/2008, -0/+8***** idiot - liars, crooks and jokers the lot of them
- mrpicklepants, on 03/23/2008, -0/+11Someone please tell me what this story is about... because each time I try to read it, I can't get past the word "Sinbad".
- wolferz, on 03/23/2008, -15/+9"You see, Senator Clinton has made much of her time as First Lady, suggesting that her experience in the White House gives her a foreign policy edge. No matter that her argument makes as much sense, as one Kossack put it, as Yoko Ono claiming she was a Beatle,"
Nice straw man argument... those two claims are in no way similar.
Clinton lost my support a long time ago but as always I don't like it when I seem to be the only one noticing blatant logical fallacies. The fact that they would reprint such an obvious straw man argument makes the entire rest of the article questionable. It makes it sound like they are just trying to capitalize on the current anti-Hillary frenzy.
For more accurate comparison: Hillary saying her time as first lady gives her foreign policy experience is like Yoko Kano saying her time spent with the Beatles gives her experience with touring as a popular band... both of which are reasonable claims. Yes... some people are capable of learning things from observation. I'm not saying she has but I've yet to see any evidence that she hasn't ether.
Another more accurate comparison: Hillary saying she was the president is like Yoko Kano saying she was a Beatle... both statements being equally preposterous.
Not that it matters now any way. With any luck Hillary's campaign is spiraling the drain. I will sleep easier at night knowing that. However I'm also going to be kept awake at times knowing that it's only because of the sheeple that Hillary was stopped and that those sheep are responsible for electing the next batch of liars and con artists.- mrpicklepants, on 03/23/2008, -4/+2Excellent point, and Dugg. Let's keep the arguments valid.
- Aitese, on 03/23/2008, -0/+10Except Yoko Ono would have seen the Beatles perform, seen them rehearse and been there when they recorded, so YES she had "experienced" their lives and careers...but as the first lady Hillary would NOT have sat in on negotiations...she would NOT have been privy to classified government information (well, not officially) and she would not have had face to face meetings with the worlds top leaders in private. To say being in the presence of someone doing their job is experience is the fallacy that you seem to have fallen for.
- jamesLankford, on 03/23/2008, -0/+0exactly
- wolferz, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1yoko would have sat in on negotiations with record labels, would have worked on creating the actual songs, would have taken part in playing the music?
Hillary would have seen the results, help bill with his speeches, discussed matters of national security and foreign policy. No she wouldn't have made policy or sat in on negotiations with world leaders any more than Yoko would have written songs or sat in negotiations with the recording industry.
My analogy holds and you're still comparing apples and oranges. Seeing a band rehearse and seeing a speech rehearsed is apple and apples. Being there when speeches are given and being there when performances are made is apples and apples. Flying all over each country to see world leaders and being on the road with the band is apples and apples. Watching a performance and giving a speech is NOT apples and apples.
You are comparing OBSERVING the Beatles and BEING the president, apples and oranges. - wolferz, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1heh first the timer runs out then i have to repost it cause it didnt take... weeeeee digg hates me...
In the end it boils down to this: Would Yoko Ono be better equipped to handle the rigors of touring as a major performer than a member of a garage band that has never traveled more than 30 miles for a gig? If yes then it also stands to reason that Hillery is better equipped to handle the rigors of making foreign policy than a senator who has never been the confidant of or consistently traveled with some one who did.
"To say being in the presence of someone doing their job is experience is the fallacy that you seem to have fallen for."
Experience is defined as "the content of direct observation or participation in an event;" In the future please make sure you know what a word actually means before you go telling some one else that they don't.
In my analogy between Yoko and a member of a garage band you might have noted that Yoko was never in a band but the aforementioned garage band member... is a band member. Actually you probably didn't since you are used to ignoring such details. Even still Yoko would have the advantages in the situation being discussed because she has her experiences and observations to fall back on. She does have EXPERIENCE that the garage band member doesn't. Maybe the garage band member would be a better performer due to his experience there, but he would be less well equipped for the difficulties of touring.
Hillary lacks even Yoko's disadvantage because she HAS served as a senator AND has observed and experienced the issues and difficulties of dealing with foreign powers. While there is no guarantee that she would actually be better at it, it is reasonable to say she has an advantage in this realm over Obama.
I still don't like Hillary but I have serious issues with the current trend of people accepting anything any one else says as long as what they say agrees with pre-existing opinions and trends. I actually would prefer a president who's focus is more on domestic issues and I believe Obama has more experience and skill in this realm than Clinton. Our domestic problems far outweigh our foreign problems. If you weren't sheepishly buying into all the media fear mongering about the War in Iraq you might notice that our education, industrial, and medical capabilities are causing far more damage. In fact those issues are actually further worsening the War and preventing anything being done about it. Our ***** education system can be observed in people like yourself who are incapable of applying critical thinking. We need to fix our domestic issues before there is any chance of being able to fix the foreign ones. Also, when I speak of foreign issues I'm not just talking about the War in Iraq.
- miraimatt, on 03/23/2008, -0/+2Haha, you wrote "Yoko Kano" by accident... do you like Cowboy Bebop?
- wolferz, on 03/23/2008, -0/+2actually I'm more of a Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex fan. The opening sequence remains a favorite of mine. And what music of hers I've gotten a hold of I really enjoy.
But your right i meant Ono, not Kano.

- DangerCollie, on 03/23/2008, -0/+13Seems like the first lady under fire would have made headlines at the time. That was a few years ago but the jokes about "too bad they missed" would certainly have gone on for months afterward. It was a silly story to tell. The vicious fact checking that goes on in a contested election..she had to know people would be looking into that incident before she left the podium.
She's done some strange things but this is just bizarre. Well, give them a chance to clarify tomorrow. Maybe there was sniper shot off in the distance somewhere on her trip. Even so it was a silly mistake at a make or break moment.- sliksta, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1Silly mistake?
She LIED. To the American people. Did she not take an oath to become senator? Would she not take an oath if elected president?
Being a lying crook is is not any silly mistake, it is a mark of true evil.
- sliksta, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1Silly mistake?
- kamtsa, on 03/23/2008, -16/+4Following for several weeks the Digg main page threads regarding the Democratic primaries, I sadly conclude that Digg became a one sided propaganda machine. This highlights a major weakness of community-based news popularity services such as Digg. Compare it for example with Wikipedia that encourages criticism and provides critics equal space. I am yet to see in Digg's main page a single article that critics Obama's or supports Hilary.
- stonewaljacksn, on 03/23/2008, -13/+3I 100% agree with you. Digg is to Obama what foxnews was to Bush at the height of his popularity, and it's sad.
btw dailykos (joke of a site), buried. and no im not a republican, i do FAVOR democrats, but i dont blindly follow all this hate filled *****.- Railz, on 03/23/2008, -0/+7There are other sites, and news organizations reporting her ***** of being under sniper fire. Stop blinding yourself.
- cornflakepirate, on 03/23/2008, -0/+15Maybe because Digg users tend to be young, intelligent, and not female.
Also maybe because Obama doesn't say ridiculous crap like this every few days.- idreamwideyed, on 03/23/2008, -0/+4i'm female, and i still want to see Hils go down.
- cornflakepirate, on 03/24/2008, -0/+2That's cool, but my point is that statistically speaking, non-females tend to favour Obama. :)

- mrpicklepants, on 03/23/2008, -0/+13But wait a minute... maybe Obama is actually more worthy of praise, and Hillary of criticism. Giving equal time and equal criticism is not how to maintain fairness. Should we also cover the socialist party presidential candidate Brian Moore? Digg readers are more informed and more politically active than the average voter, so their choices of stories are going to reflect that.
- kamtsa, on 03/23/2008, -3/+2mrpicklepants,
1. I did not expect equal coverage but having an article ratio of 100% to 0% clearly shows a strong bias.
2. Digg uses the winner gets all approach. 51% of the active users can control 100% of the main page article selection and I believe that the coverage of the democratic primaries highlight this weakness.
3. If you cannot think of even one reason to critic Obama then voters like you scare me. Seriously.
When it come to the democratic primaries, Digg became a propaganda machine. That's why I removed it from my iGoogle home page.
- kamtsa, on 03/23/2008, -3/+2mrpicklepants,
- Aitese, on 03/23/2008, -0/+8OK...let's ignore the fact that THIS story is irrefutable (talk about hiding your head in the sand...but whatever) has it ever occurred to you that maybe...just MAYBE, there are more negative Hillary stories due to her and her campaign staff doing MORE questionable things?
Does it seem realistic to you that on taking two people, those two people will have the equal number of mistakes? An equal number of skeletons to uncover and lie to tell? It seems more realistic that there would be one person that is more honest and forthright than another.
I think we've become too cynical as a people faced by politics that we EXPECT every politician to be slimy and feel suspicious of some sort of fix if there are not enough negative stories to go around.- laterallateral, on 03/23/2008, -0/+2Actually no. Let's NOT forget that kamtsa's comment is in response to evidence of a presidential candidate's lie. This just exposes so completely the rightist tendency to promote their bubblegum fantasy, in which anything not in their favor is undemocratic. You don't get to re-define what that word means, I'm sorry.
- stonewaljacksn, on 03/23/2008, -13/+3I 100% agree with you. Digg is to Obama what foxnews was to Bush at the height of his popularity, and it's sad.

- Spoomeister, on 03/23/2008, -6/+10Hillary never actually under sniper fire?
I'm sure there's plenty of people with sniper training who'd be happy to help her correct that.- Oryx, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1Why bother, when she shoots herself so well?
- SirBrittanicus, on 03/23/2008, -5/+4Nice try Sillary Hillary, you can take your seat now.

- Raoulduke212, on 03/23/2008, -6/+2Pwned
- MrSkrilla, on 03/23/2008, -0/+19Now why don't we see anything about this on any of the major news channels?
- lintmonkey, on 03/23/2008, -2/+5Because we get all of our news from the internet?
- chicometal, on 03/23/2008, -0/+8They talked about it on Meet the Press this morning, but did not showed the video. Im sure Olbermann will run with it this week.
- motivatedmama, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4You can be sure of that! Be tuned in tomorrow. There will probably be more hashing of numbers, delegates etc. all with the intent of showing that Hillary should quit. Good for them! The more the media focuses on the facts, the more pressure she is under to quit. It should prove interesting. The more desperate she becomes, the more she and her followers freak out and dig the hole even deeper. Entertaining cycle but I'd pass on the amusement to have a nominee already. Olbermann is da man!
- jcroweall7, on 03/23/2008, -0/+10Because the major news channels just report what's given to them. This thing called "investigating" would confuse them too much.
- caketank, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1It's the weekend, all the news channels are running their second string people and not bringing out any real stories unless they have to. Obama's campaign got hold of it on Friday and started emailing people. Wouldn't be surprised if the mainstream media picks it up on Monday. First thing they'll probably do is ask her about it.
- DubYaSee, on 03/23/2008, -1/+4Major news channels are plunging toward irrelevance ...everyone knows that "fair and balanced" is achieved only through lots of news viewpoints. CFR and AIPAC control what news you see on major news channels. They probably will figure out how to control Net content soon enough, but for now, the Internet is independent.
- Genesii, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1Not quite "campaign-ending", still an amusing lie though.
- tjlyttle, on 03/23/2008, -1/+11hillary could possibly regain some dignity if she took this approach:
Hansel: So I'm rappelling down Mount Vesuvius when suddenly I slip, and I start to fall. Just falling, ahh ahh, I'll never forget the terror. When suddenly I realize "Holy *****, Hansel, haven't you been smoking Peyote for six straight days, and couldn't some of this maybe be in your head?"
Derek Zoolander: And?
Hansel: And it was. I was totally fine. I've never even been to Mount Vesuvius. - kenedamick, on 03/23/2008, -0/+3Hi-liar-ious Clinton
