INFO: A bill designed to protect infants after live births
thebulletin.us — She said, "I couldn't let him die alone. And so I held him for the 45 minutes that he moved. He moved a little bit. Of course he didn't cry." Ms. Stanek says she was horrified and went to work in Christ Hospital thinking because of its name, abortion and such other practices would not be tolerated.

- 4wheel, on 08/15/2008, -0/+24"In reaching its conclusion, the NRLC focused on Mr. Obama's opposition to the Illinois Born-Alive Infant Protection Bill. This was a bill designed to protect infants after live births, whether or not as a consequence of an abortion procedure."
The very frightening thing about this? The fact that they need to pass a bill to protect live babies. - deathsythe, on 08/15/2008, -0/+20Already gathered some momentum on this one:

We need to get this issue into the limelight so that the masses can see truly what they are voting for.
To quote jabberwolf in the other one:
Born Alive Infants Protection Act (BAIPA). The BAIPA was a two-paragraph bill intended to clarify that any baby who is entirely expelled from his or her mother, and who shows any signs of life, is to be regarded as a legal "person" for all federal law purposes, whether or not the baby was born during an attempted abortion.
in 2003, Barack Obama, as chairman of an Illinois state Senate committee, voted down a bill to protect live-born survivors of abortion - even after the panel had amended the bill to contain verbatim language…explicitly foreclosing any impact on abortion."
In 2002, the bill was enacted, after a "neutrality clause" was added to explicitly state that the bill expressed no judgment, in either direction, about the legal status of a human prior to live birth. The bill passed without a dissenting vote in either house of Congress.
(To view the final federal BAIPA as enacted, http://www.nrlc.org/ObamaBAIPA/BAIPAFederal.pdf)
Meanwhile, Barack Obama, as a member of the Illinois State Senate, actively opposed a state version of the BAIPA during three successive regular legislative sessions. His opposition to the state legislation continued into 2003 - even after NARAL had withdrawn its initial opposition to the federal bill, and after the final federal bill had been enacted in August 2002.
But
Obama countered this charge by claiming that he had opposed the state BAIPA because it lacked the pre-birth neutrality clause that had been added to the federal bill.
BUT BUT....
The documents prove that in March 2003, state Senator Obama, then the chairman of the Illinois state Senate Health and Human Services Committee, presided over a committee meeting in which the "neutrality clause" (copied verbatim from the federal bill) was added to the state BAIPA, with Obama voting in support of adding the revision. Yet, immediately afterwards, Obama led the committee Democrats in voting against the amended bill, and it was killed, 6-4.
So yes this is true that Obama is for letting new born babies die. - karishore, on 08/15/2008, -0/+15Somehow we need to BE LOUDER! What is going on with this country? IS ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT REALLY CARES? This is so disturbing to me. Just a quick note: you can't abort a cow in Iowa.... it's cruelty to animals. that was a noteworthy item from a man I heard was in jail for doing this. Again, the righteousness of God should be pronouced by us here on earth for the screams of these babies.
- 4wheel, on 08/16/2008, -1/+6I'm "pro-choice". I believe you have the choice to keep your pants on, or take them off. Once that choice is made, anything else, is a consequence of the choice you've already made. A baby is not a choice. You knew it was a possible consequence when you pulled your pants down.
- justinx0r, on 08/15/2008, -0/+15I wonder what his excuse will be when confronted about this? This is sick.

His usual rhetoric, calling all of us liars.

- Kathy1980, on 10/05/2008, -1/+5Obama is a sick puppy. This is so cruel. How in the hell can he be apposed to saving the life of a baby who survives a botched abortion????? We need blog this everywhere that Barack Obama supports infanticide. This really is revolting!!
- ConsrvativeChik, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Absolutely disgusting.. regardless of how biased the MSM is, I still CANNOT BELIEVE that this is not getting more attention. Unfortunately many folks do not search the internet for either of the dandidates.. besides what is on the main news pages and on TV, they don't know anything else about Obama. SO MANY people will never know about how disgusting this man's views are unless the MSM reports on this more.
- Hillarysmygirl, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1I am pro choice and that will never change. However, I believe in choice for the first trimester and that's it unless your life is in danger. As for allowing babies born alive to die that is sick. I had a baby that was seven months gastation when he came early I gave birth to a 3 lb 9 oz baby boy and he was perfectly fine. He was just small. He is now a healty hard working 20 year old. He was also born on Christmas Eve. Because I had a small baby I am against any abortions for second or third trimester abortions not for Downs syndrome or any other kind of disability.
I will say this about me being pro choice. That means that I also respect Sarah's choice. She is going to be rewarded for the choice she made because Trig will bring her years of happeness.
