johnny2k.blogspot.com — "Don't you think we made the right choice for the next Vice President of the United States?" Yes, you bet! John McCain made the right choice. And in this writing, I'll tell you why. And I'll tell you why it is now time to make a spiritual choice. For many of us, it should be pretty obvious, after seeing what has been said at the RNC in St. Paul.

- johnny2k, on 09/04/2008, -1/+18Yes, it is YOUR choice this year. Pick what you want this country to be - maybe for generations! Of course, as always, there is that "evil" two-party choice - and I know of many that say that it all comes down to be the "same people" controlling things. But this year, now, it may just be a little different. I think so, anyway. And we should give a lot of the credit to the "long shots", the third party candidates. Or, maybe the Republican candidates that didn't quite make it into the nomination, or even top tiers. They have ALL contributed, whether it was Ron Paul or Tom Tancredo or Mike Huckabee... You get the idea. I think that they all have made a great influence on the direction the GOP goes, and more importantly, the way John McCain has hit it out of the park with his pick of Sarah Palin.
- johnny2k, on 09/04/2008, -1/+18Yeah, there are some of you out there that are also trying to figure out what to do. Right? But what got me to do what I think is the right thing, let's just say I want Obama defeated. And it ain't going to be too easy. It became a little easier when Sarah Palin was picked for the V.P. choice!
- johnny2k, on 09/04/2008, -1/+14There is a possibilty that I'll soon be writing about my main reason for supporting John McCain & Sarah Palin. It all has to do with how I feel about Sarah Palin's words - or more importantly, her actions - regarding people with "special needs." What she said, and what she is going through, is what impressed me the most.
- alanhlake, on 09/04/2008, -1/+10I have not been as indecisive as you have been, Johnny. Our decisions in every area of life are, in the final analysis, spiritual decisions. I never felt that I had to vote for the lesser of two evils in order to prevent the greater evil. This is never how God has instructed His people to do things.
Americans have a real "thing" about voting for (cheering on) a winner. We don't like to support someone who turns out to be a loser. But guessing the winner and getting on board with him or her is not God's way, either.
If Sarah Palin were at the top of the GOP ticket, I would have to think long and hard about voting for someone other than her. But, the Vice Presidential nominee has the greatest duty before the election, namely getting the top of the ticket elected. After the election, the VP has few decision making powers, unless the House is divided half & half and they vote the party line. My point is that Palin is much more significant now than she will be after helping to get John Aisle-Crosser McCain elected. She will be very significant if the Lord takes John home, but we can't anticipate that, and frankly, I don't wish that.
In the meantime, we're still talking about President McCain. What he has done still speaks so loudly that I can't hear what he is now saying. He has done a very good thing in selecting Palin to be his running mate, but he did that as a candidate. I read a statement the other day, quoting a statesman of years ago, which said that we should never be motivated by what a politician says or does during a campaign, but only by what he's done before becoming a candidate.
For this reason, I still plan to vote for Alan Keyes. http://www.selfgovernment.us/aip- hope4god, on 09/04/2008, -1/+7A vote for Mr Keyes is a vote for Obama, sadly your vote will only help Obama. Alan Keyes has no shot at the Presidentcy so I dont really see your point. Obama and Biden are the greatest threats to America, they are both Big Govt, Big Brother Democrats ''Tax and Spend'' and we will all pay for it one way or another.Biblical speaking this all lines up about right Obama gets in we surrender to the Muslim world through Obama and his friends, and we will through Obama turn our backs on Israel and Obama will cut our troops and run we will look like we lost Iraq which will make the enemies of America and Freedom more better, have you ever noticed The Liberal media doesnt talk about Iraq anymore and Obama stays away from talking about it also you know why because its the surge its working and Obama cant stand the fact that American troops are winning and not dying and people, Americans want this Obama in office?? Iran will not be dealt with Obama will not cross his Muslim friends. So in the end as we have it clearly in 08 America has a choice do we Elect a Muslim and a Angry man, or do we Elect a Older wiser POW a 3rd Generation America first guy, and respected ''Maverick'' in Congress because McCain votes with a passion not a Agenda, and Obama doesnt even vote his record is a joke in Congress, and Palin a spicy good looking smart, Educated woman who is a great American.
- drachemorder, on 09/04/2008, -1/+7At this point I no longer really see McCain as a lesser of two evils. He has shown good judgment in choosing Palin. He has made clear his commitment to appointing good judges to the Supreme Court. And he has given the impression that he will at least be sympathetic to the conservative cause.
Especially considering the alternative, that's more than sufficient for me. - rightwingattila, on 09/04/2008, -1/+4I love and respect you guys, hence the digg. I am very pleased with the choice of Gov. Palin as VP, but I have yet to find out her stance on amnesty. This is a huge issue and we know that McCain supports it with his bipartisan co-sponsoring of a bill with Ted Kennedy. He may now say he is for border control first, but what comes after that? We were promised border control the last time we allowed our government to declare amnesty and we're still waiting 20+ years later and another 20+ million illegal aliens. Instead of being a 'maverick' on this issue and representing the people McCain sided with the left. Are these days over? I think not.
"Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." - John Quincy Adams- hope4god, on 09/04/2008, -1/+1@Rightwing, you are a great person i know i have never met you but you always have good ideas and thoughts, I have had to go to the ER a couple of times over the last years and let me tell you its a mess, mostly Hispanic and im sure illegal they know if they go to the ER they cant be turned away and the problem is its children they are bringing, I have 5 and as a Dad I would do anything to help my child and Illegal or not they would too. The costs of the ER and services in which the Illegals cant pay or wont, is past on to those of us who have Insurance, and what also happens is that the ER gets so filled up that people with Insurance have to wait for a long time unless its real seriuos then you get help, but this is not the point. I wish illegals would come here the right way get a good job get some insurance, see the doctor before it gets real bad and you have to go the ER. Im afraid both parties will do nothing about it so Obama wont and McCain wont also.If we really wanted to stop Illegals, if the US can put a man on the moon for Gods sake we can enforce the borders.
- rightwingattila, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4Thank you my friend but personally I use the term "pond scum" for myself, but saved by Grace. I whole heartily agree with you on a father or mother doing what is best for their children and stated so in a recent post: "Now the answers are not to deny medical care to anyone. This would be completely unacceptable, and I know that the majority of people who are entering our country illegally are only trying to better their situation" http://beyondrightwing.blogspot.com/2008/09/illega ...
But this is a very important issue that must be addressed or our resources will become depleted, and not just our medical and educational systems. McCain nor Obama seems willing to address this problem and I'm afraid both would exasperate it.
I’m a realist and fully understand that a third party candidate has no chance and never will until our situation becomes untenable, although by then it may be too late. Even my "better-half" is leaning toward voting for McCain, or as she clearly stated today, "I'm thinking of voting for Palin." Can't blame her as I too have fallen for Sarah's common sense approach to addressing problems, but she is not the one running for President.
With that said I do not begrudge anyone who votes or supports the McCain/Palin ticket. Who knows, maybe he’ll be one of the great ones. One thing I will continue to do is pray for all the candidates as well as all of those in our government, no matter what side of the aisle they reside.
- osko2052, on 09/04/2008, -1/+5I don't think you will hear anything about amnesty from any of the candidates until the debates start. Hopefully we will get some answers then. I am anxious as well.
- DesertDad, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2One of the considerations I've made in deciding to support McCain, even before his excellent wing decision, is that when he is in the White House we will have him right where we want him. He will not be able to hide behind the facade of being a border state senator, and I fully expect he will take a more realistic stance on illegal aliens and the border.
If he does not, we will have an easier time convincing McCain to defend the border than we would with the socialist shakedown artist and his older taxpayer shakedown artist running mate.

- johnny2k, on 09/05/2008, -1/+3Thank you everybody for digging this one up for me! It was very exciting the diggs hit 50 as of now, and even more, to see that it was shouted out by at least one person that I know of at the moment! Wow! I am humbly honored by your support. Thank you again, and God bless you all!
