McCain has fought against wind and solar and alternative energy for his entire career because he genuinely but mistakenly believes "The truly clean technologies don't work."

In fact, McCain is telling us to do that by running on his experience.

At the very least you can't claim McCain doesn't plan to make these changes just because in reality he has a horrible record on them before. Just because he has lied about his past and trumped up the maverick label doesn't mean he might actually support an initiative to support "clean as my dog's butt coal." To call him a liar about his future actions is presumptuous and completely hypothetical at this point and therefore disingenuous.

It is obvious that few people who were not interested in environmentalism are now as a result of Al Gore and others efforts. Most of our current problems are associated with energy production and use, and I believe are more serious and urgent than most. We don't need any new technology to solve the problem, only the will to do it. Our transportation system is over 1/4 of the national energy use and kills over 40,000 people every year. Furthermore, it is mostly based on technology that is a century or more old. A forward looking national politician would be proposing to automate the entire road/rail system and power it with wind and solar energy. Such a system would be faster, safer, greener, more efficient, more convenient, and cheaper than the antiquated paradigm we are left with today. As for nuclear energy has McCain consider the issues of transporting nuclear waste across the country? Has McCain bothered to check the capacity of Yucca mountain? Does he care about the opinion of the people who live in Nevada? Has McCain ever mention how long it takes to build a nuclear power plant?
