- vincebodie, on 09/20/2008, -0/+8I guess you didn't see the DNC then? If you're going to vote, you might want to go third party. Can you imagine something like this happening outside a Green/Constitution/Libertarian Party convention?
- hypertension, on 09/20/2008, -0/+2If the cops were Libertarian too, they'd shake hands and ***** with people, then they'd all go together and have a party somewhere.
- iseerightards, on 09/20/2008, -5/+0Let's see, there were 100 arrests at the DNC.
There were 800 at the RNC.
Can you do the math and figure out which denotes a larger abuse of rights? - Stryder81, on 09/20/2008, -0/+6There shouldn't be ANY ARRESTS PERIOD. What's wrong with you?!
- cwuzzup, on 09/20/2008, -1/+2Libertarian '08!
- PeppermintPig, on 09/21/2008, -0/+2Both situations were grave abuses of rights. But because one is worse than the other, it's acceptable to vote for the lesser evil? And yes, you should hold the party accountable because these are their policies!
That's the most absurd, collectivist argument I've heard today. The day is early, of course. - vincebodie, on 09/22/2008, -0/+1I agree there shouldn't be any arrests. I was just pointing out to cwuzzup that it wasn't just at the RNC that this happened. The major party in power (Republicrats) had a lock down on both of its conventions. It doesn't matter if there were 100 or 800 or 1 million arrests; it's like arguing for the lesser of two evils to even compare the two. You would never see this at any of the other party's conventions, because they aren't bought and sold to the military/industrial/pharmaceutical complex. I think PeppermintPig was trying to point this out to iseerightards. The only way out of this situation is to vote third party, period.
- wissler, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Unfortunately democrats are complicit. They had the majority in congress and have done nothing. Look at history, "right" or "left" are only two angles of attack for totalitarianism.

- DOCNM, on 09/19/2008, -2/+18One day, when people will band and use their second amendment rights to protect themselves from the police, we should go back to this video and realize how it started.
- GratefulGroover, on 09/19/2008, -0/+16I would love to see a compilation of all of this footage, rnc and dnc protests, put into a feature length film. Its not that people don't care, its just hard to spread the word when footage of such events as these are parsed throughout the internet.
- elecnix, on 09/19/2008, -0/+11Why this mass arrest? What were people charged for?
- hypertension, on 09/20/2008, -0/+4Rioting supposedly >_>
- iseerightards, on 09/20/2008, -3/+3Patriotism. The GOP hates it.

There's even a Wikipedia entry:

http://www.2600.com/rnc2004/page2.html - bluedottx, on 09/19/2008, -0/+11This is so sad, and just unbelievable. I guess hanging out in a park, listening to music is now considering rioting.
This story needs to be posted EVERYWHERE and people in MPLS need to demand that law enforcement is
reprimanded for violating citizens civil liberties. Just plain scary to see where this country is headed. - elecnix, on 09/19/2008, -0/+6Here's an article from Amy Goodman on this subject, dated September 3, 2008:
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/377611_amyon ... - infodoc1, on 09/19/2008, -0/+12I don't know how any of those cops can sleep at night after arresting law-abiding citizens.
- hypertension, on 09/20/2008, -0/+4The kindly Andy Griffith-type cop is no more.

- dreamercolin, on 09/20/2008, -1/+3we can stop this if enough of us act and demand accountability, refuse to accept this behavior, the word needs to keep being spread and people need to keep exercising their rights to speak and protest, because we do have those right regardless of the actions of the police, we must take them back
- Perlpro, on 09/20/2008, -0/+11We all bitch and moan about a lot of things going wrong in America, but this is just so wrong on every level.
This is what a police state is. This is not about catching criminals, its about massive show of power to control the people.
By the way, this is why many of us choose to stay home, safe on the internet, rather than peacefully stop on by the local protest... - nogami, on 09/20/2008, -0/+6Your country is screwed on every conceivable level... It's too late for America, the empire is about to fall...
- medalian1, on 09/20/2008, -0/+7Coming to a city near you ...
- ALITL8, on 09/20/2008, -1/+8Folks, this is a perfect example of "Democracy"
A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.
Restore the Republic!- 1elbuggo, on 09/20/2008, -0/+1Not so. It’s only very very few that actually make the rules,
- 1elbuggo, on 09/20/2008, -3/+1Not so. It’s only very very few that actually make the rules,
- 1elbuggo, on 09/20/2008, -0/+4Not so. It’s only very very few that actually make the rules, < 1% or so. And this tiny minority represents the majority and can do whatever they feel as long as these few representatives have a majority in the club. No one has ever asked me about my oppinion. It's insane.
- rex84, on 09/20/2008, -0/+1You'll be asked your opinion in November, but you'll probably fall for voting for the lesser of two evils bit again, and nothing will change.
Vote third party, shake up the system, fire the bastards, run them out of town.

- superfly1963, on 09/20/2008, -0/+5There is something wrong with this country when we can't even have a nice Quiet gathering without the national guard, police in full riot gear and tear gas. I was in Washington DC protesting the war in iraq right in President bush's back yard and we wern't touched. Has this nation gone mad? what next drive down the street listening to us inside our homes. like in the movie "V "
- rex84, on 09/20/2008, -0/+7Those of you that think this police state ***** will change with an Obama administration have a lot to learn.
- paiute8, on 09/21/2008, -0/+5Kind od looks like our police forces are of a nazi regime.
- alma4nader, on 09/21/2008, -0/+4Holy Moses! I was in the Denver DNC marches and the cops scared the bejeepers out of me. But this is really the weirdest, and in a way scariest footage Ive seen. Ya know, I think that in St. Paul the cops were more afraid than the cops in Denver. Fear is really the only explanation for this hardhanded BS. Look what they did to Amy Goodman. not to mention her fellow hero-reporters! The charges against the Dem.Now staff have been dropped by the way. God help us all. This was all in the name of the corporate duopoly. Nader for President.
- JKap, on 09/21/2008, -0/+3Kind of makes one nostalgic for the Police State at the 2008 DNC.
"Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship. ...voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country." -Hermann Göring at the Nuremberg Trials - sultanica, on 09/24/2008, -0/+1The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) is reporting in the Kremlin over the past several days that the Bank of England has received from the United States Federal Reserve Bank a notice that President Bush is preparing to declare an Economic Emergency during the week of October 5th and will further announce that the American Presidential election due to be held on November 4th will be indefinitely suspended.
