McCain Leaks Details Of Obama's Iraq Trip
huffingtonpost.com — Republican presidential candidate John McCain said on Friday that his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama, is likely to be in Iraq over the weekend. If Obama is going to be in Iraq this weekend, this is a major breach on McCain's part.

- fool13, on 07/19/2008, -35/+9I heard about Obama going to Iraq on the news earlier today. Here - http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/07/18/politics ...
McCain mentioned nothing more than that. That said, why the hell does McCain know when Obama is going on a trip? Shouldn't his surrogates be keeping something like that a secret if it's SO important? Sorry but this is really crap, McCain told us about his trip weeks in advance. It's not our fault Obama has made so many enemies, he needs to choose his words more carefully.- Lyk4n, on 07/19/2008, -2/+3Here's your dunce cap!
- NyteStarNyne, on 07/19/2008, -9/+5It's a TRAP!
- DyceFreak, on 07/19/2008, -6/+18McCain just doesn't care who his words and actions effect at all... I just can't vote for someone who proves this over and over again..
- Chicken, on 07/19/2008, -16/+8Well it doesn't matter. Obama and Mccain are tricky little *****. We need a genuinely honest person who sticks to what they say.
- RadiatedAnt, on 07/19/2008, -2/+5your a dumbass,
- Boondoggie, on 07/19/2008, -20/+4It's amazing that a comment making a personal attack on McCain's age gets 40+ diggs. This generation really has lost any ability to think.
- tcbishop12, on 07/19/2008, -2/+23"This generation"? I'll be 54 in August, Boondoggie. How about you?
- Boondoggie, on 07/19/2008, -18/+4Then you should know better. I'm about your age, but most of Bush-Hitler-Chimp rants on Digg are from young skulls full of mush.
- TheGuruStud, on 07/19/2008, -3/+12We say to you: ***** YOU, you stupid POS that supports ***** that ***** over the entire country.
And you have the gall/stupidity to continue your FAILED beliefs. Now, who does that sound like? - SillyDigger, on 07/19/2008, -2/+7uhhh.... uhhh.... umm.... LIBERAL ....LEFT WINGERS!
- masterspeaks, on 07/19/2008, -3/+17I am only 20. I suppose you could just disregard what I say simply because I am just some "young kid" who doesn't know what he is talking about, and normally I wouldn't have any problem with that. Age lends a person wisdom, respect your elders, all that good *****. But when you have Bush apologists in their "golden years" telling me that in 20-30 years the actions of this administration will be vindicated pisses me off to no end. Statistics suggest that both George W. Bush and John McCain will be dead within the next 15 years. Odds are they won't be around to see the long term 'success' or more likely failure of their actions. Guess who will be still alive dealing with those repercussions...
- QuadZeroRoute, on 07/19/2008, -13/+3This story is a NON story. Obama's trip was covered here on Digg yesterday and in my blog this morning. The world knew that Obama was going to be in Iraq yesterday. See:

/QUOTE/
Some 200 journalists have asked to accompany Obama on the costly trip, which will include stops in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the campaign will be able to accommodate only one-fifth that number. No itinerary has been announced.

If you want a fair coverage of the entire race go to my blog. You are not going to get fair coverage of the election from Huffington Post. To get shouts of this information every morning you have to overtly support McCain as a candidate on Digg.com. See:
http://quadzeroroute.blogspot.com/- samthurston, on 07/19/2008, -0/+3you make some sense but your link is broken and pimping your right-leaning blog as "fair coverage" is tacky.

- Boondoggie, on 07/19/2008, -9/+6I wonder if his body guards will be unarmed, like he thinks the rest of us should be. Face it, he's much safer in Iraq than he would be in Chicago.
- jdenzer, on 07/19/2008, -7/+5That's b/c the networks know he is not going to be the next president. So why waste time, money, and resources following him around.
This is why the McCain camp is so bitter about it.

- PolishLogic, on 07/18/2008, -39/+31I guess the press is pissed that he beat them to the story.
I don't understand how this is a "major breech" considering that the media usually announces trips like this ahead of time for members of the sitting administration. I don't see why a mere candidate should be afforded more courtesy than those currently in office.
FTA: It's known that Obama is leaving on his foreign trip this weekend and the Journal OpEd page this morning said that Obama could arrive in Iraq "as early as this weekend." And with a slew of reporters in tow, it's not exactly highly classified information.
Buried as blogspam- Insightful, on 07/19/2008, -15/+31What do you think would happen if Obama did the same: announce that on 8/14 McCain will visit Anbar province?
You do not think Fox News will come up the headline "Muslim Traitor Hussein Obama Orders Future US President McCain Assassination"?
For your information, all senior official's visits to Iraq are in general not pre-announced.- PolishLogic, on 07/19/2008, -12/+8You're correct, that would have been the headline, and I'd have buried that story too. Why? Because it's beyond ridiculous, as is this story. Whether you can admit it or not, the Huffington Post is the left wing version of Fox News. As biased, with as much sensationalist partisan *****.
Remove yourself from the Obama v. McCain partisan garbage and you'll see that this is a non-story. Reverse the actions of the two men (Obama making the same statement about a McCain trip), and it would be the same non-story. This trip is no secret.
Again, refer to the part of this overblown blog's article that I quoted. His trip was far from a secret, and far from a highly classified operation.
Apparently, those that have dugg me down haven't been paying attention to the countless news stories from every major media outlet that make no secret about Obama heading to the Middle East. Here I though Diggers were well read when it comes to current events. Silly me.
As for the comment about senior officials visits, then why does the news constantly run stories stating "(insert official here) will be heading to Iraq next week/month, to meet with commanders and troops"? - phrenzy, on 07/19/2008, -8/+13PolishLogic - when you typed that did you keep hearing that little voice in the back of your head saying "I am a ***** liar"?
You, of all people on digg, would have taken ANY and I mean ANY opportunity to say how "Osama Obama" was a traitor.
Who the ***** do you think you are fooling? One click on your history reveals what a ***** troll you are.
Aren't you one of those geniuses who kept talking about that "Whitey" tape that was going to come out and destroy Obama's campaign? How's that coming along?
Although I have to say, I get great satisfaction knowing how miserable you are going to be having to call "Hussein" your president for the next 4 years (at least).
You are on a sinking ship. - PolishLogic, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Thanks for the fandom. I didn't realize so many people spend their time on Digg reading my comment history. I'm flattered.
"little voice in the back of your head saying "I am a ***** liar"?"
I've never said you were a liar, don't be so hard on yourself.
"what a ***** troll you are. "
Takes one to know one, huh?
"Aren't you one of those geniuses who kept talking about that "Whitey" tape that was going to come out and destroy Obama's campaign? How's that coming along?
No idea, you must have me confused with one of your other stalkings.
"I get great satisfaction knowing how miserable you are going to be having to call "Hussein" your president for the next 4 years (at least)."
I'll get great satisfaction seeing you cry when more FISA-like legislation is passed by the black Jesus. Or, maybe when he really starts ramping up his war talk about Iran. Merely because you've spent all this time thinking he's "different".
Speaking of ships, I hope your children are paralyzed in a boating accident.

4th Amendment Hit Squad from http://www.bluetidalwave.com/2008/07/fisa-hit-list ...
On Wednesday July 9, 2008 our U.S. Constitution, specifically the 4th amendment was officially torched by the U.S. government. The Democratic leadership in control of the 110th Congress lighted the definitive match to burn up every citizen's civil liberties while a giddy unpopular President George Bush and his highly voter despised rubber stamp Republican caucus held the gas can in bravado glee.
The world would be a better place if Bush was as an effective leader of the globe as he is at whipping the Congressional Democrats in legislative battles.
Twenty One Senate Democrats voted to give final approval today to broadening the government’s spy powers and providing legal immunity for the phone companies that took part in the illegal Bush wiretapping program. - bynddrvn, on 07/18/2008, -20/+52So besides hanging out with a bunch of corrupt lobbyists, being a part of the Keating Five - where I might add Mr. McCain walked away WITH THE MOST MONEY of all the Senators involved, constantly misstating his voting record as being pro veteran - while veterans groups have McCain listed as voting for veterans rights/benefits only 20% of the time vs. Obama's 80%, McCain promising to INCREASE outsourcing US labor and he has also stated he would like to expand outsourcing to Government jobs and the Military, and has promised more wars that will require the US to continue borrowing money from China, pushing our dollar into the crapper - which will make everything in the US more expensive, especially oil, and so on, and on. Could there possibly be more negatives against voting for John McCain?!
I am seriously beginning to wonder if McCain is actually trying to get elected, maybe he decided he really would like to retire but try as me might there are apparently some people that will vote for the GOP candidate no matter what kind of smelly turd they put up.- mithrasinvictus, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2Maybe he was wiretapped and now he has to do what "they" say, but he's trying to get out of it by feigning senility?

It's a yes or no question. Very simple.

- PhilLesh69, on 07/19/2008, -5/+3Yeah, they aren't afraid of anybody, except for brown guys living in caves. They're scared ***** of those guys, but in everything else, they believe they have a big brassy pair and are not afraid of anything.
oh, they are afraid of civil rights, they somehow think it's an outdated concept that could help destroy America.
But other than that, they aren't scared of anything. - solidcube, on 07/19/2008, -5/+4I would just like to say that I ***** hate rightwingers.
- PhilLesh69, on 07/19/2008, -3/+5solidcube, don't worry, even real conservatives hate these wingnuts that watch Fox News and listen to Rush Limbaugh. They give us long-time Republicans a bad name.
- vexingmodstwo, on 07/19/2008, -5/+4National security risk? Are you high?
- solidcube, on 07/19/2008, -10/+11Funny that you're not concerned about a national security risk.
- LukasSmith, on 07/19/2008, -43/+36Aahahahaha. More stupid propaganda from the Huffington rag. Hey guess what when Obama goes to Iraq he will go with bulletproof vest armored cars surrounded by hundreds of troops. He will only visit the safest parts of Iraq and then fly off. The fact is it doesn't matter if Obama goes today or next week and the whole world knows about it. He will get the best protection money can buy. Hey if the Pope can ride around in a bullet proof car so can Obama.
- PhilLesh69, on 07/19/2008, -6/+17Sorta like when McCain went?
You know, the time he claimed it was so safe he could walk around the local market, but failed to mention he was surrounded by a company or larger sized unit of infantry, with helicopter gunships on overwatch? And the entire market area had been cleared the night before and secured for his visit? - LukasSmith, on 07/19/2008, -13/+9Well if Obama is the answer to world peace then why does he need protection? Peaceful people all over the world should be leaping with joy that the Messiah has finally arrived. Oh I don't want to make you admit that there are dangerous people in Iraq who aren't fighting for peace and freedom. I think they are called terrorists.
- pr0crast, on 07/19/2008, -3/+2Who let the delusional 12 year olds on Digg? If Obama has to go with crazy protection all that says is that the Iraq war has been poorly managed and that the region is unsafe. You know, sort of like when McCain went and had crazy protection. Your parents have truly brainwashed you if you're twisting even things like this to match your (or daddy's) political agenda. Obama has already had the most and earliest secret service protection of any candidate in the history of the country, why would Iraq be any different? LOL.
- LukasSmith, on 07/20/2008, -1/+2Im a little confused. why wouldn't they love Obama? After all he is Obama. I mean for christ sakes its Obama. Who couldn't love our Messiah? I mean seriously from what I read he is perfection personified. The Messiah has returned.

- chall2001, on 07/19/2008, -31/+66You guys better add NPR to the list. They were talking about Obama's trip early this morning.
You guys would sell your own mothers to get Obama elected but would you please give it a rest. Obama's biggest enemy is his own supporters. You're actually hurting his chances by associating these type of hateful antics with his campaign.- MommaKatz, on 07/19/2008, -9/+4and you're doing exactly what for McCain by attacking liberals on Digg? The level of stupidity on this issue is almost paralyzing. Yes, the damn trips been in the news for awhile. Listen to the freaking video - McCain gives a flippin time frame. That's the difference. (and an important one, but McCain's staffers are praying y'all are too stupid to catch it!)
- moush, on 07/19/2008, -2/+11Don't try talking sense with digg. It's useless.
- 0ldmankdude, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1It's kind of depressing that one has to go through about two pages of "McCain is a traitor" ***** before anyone starts talking reasonably.

- PhilLesh69, on 07/19/2008, -3/+3What did McCain run bigger than his senate office?
I don't think military service is a requirement to become president. Wait, let me google it and see....
Nope, nothing there about military service:
Article Two of the Constitution sets the principal qualifications to be eligible for election as President. A Presidential candidate must:
be a natural-born citizen of the United States;
be at least thirty-five years old;
have been a permanent resident in the United States for at least fourteen years. - Boondoggie, on 07/19/2008, -2/+5>What did McCain run bigger than his senate office?
A carrier air wing. He retired a Naval Captain.
The reason people like to see presidential candidates with military service is that then we don't end with with anti-military, pro-disarmament people like Obama.
Perhaps you can point out at any time in his life that Obama has held any kind of executive position? - PhilLesh69, on 07/19/2008, -3/+2John McCain was never commander of a carrier air wing.
After being released by the North Vietnamese and after extensive rehabilitation and physical therapy, and a stint at the National War College, he was given command of a training squadron in Florida.
*****, my father held a brigade level command as the commander of New Cumberland Army Depot (now the eastern distribution center or district.) That doesn't qualify him to run for president. - cmonroe, on 07/19/2008, -4/+2winnestow
Sounds like you're envious. Obama' intelligence and qualifications to be POTUS run circles around McShame's. Get over yourself.
Please open your eyes. I know you'll be holding your nose when voting for McBumbler. - winnestow, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1cmon - personal attacks? or can't you defend your man?

- bassjam5, on 07/19/2008, -7/+7Nobody knew what days he was to be there. Mcstain gave that away. Remember that reporter H Rivera. He kind of gave his position away while on patrol. He was out of Iraq so fast.
It was a deliberate attempt in some way to sabotage Obama's trip to Iraq.- txchica, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2That would be G. Rivera, not H.
- stagmire, on 07/19/2008, -18/+5You're an idiot.
- spamcrusher, on 07/19/2008, -16/+22Ok Digg, we get it. McCain is an idiot. I've realized that long before he won the Republican primary. However, are all these anti-McCain articles supposed to entice me to vote for Obama? Because, well, it's not working. I'm disappointed both major parties nominated buffoons and I'll vote third party. Hell, considering the Libertarian Party nominated another idiot, I'm just thinking of staying home on election day and getting drunk. Judging by our choices in November, I'm saddened for our great country.
- nilesaronson, on 07/19/2008, -12/+3you can always write in the only candidate to support the US CONSTITUTION, RON PAUL. I am doing just that, even if it means throwing away my vote, Id rather give it to someone I believe in then the lesser of a few evils.
- booshack, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1If you aren't gonna vote anyway, not even a symbolic vote of support, I really see no argument against just going ahead and voting for the lesser evil. Or in this case, the less evil one.

-McCain gets DUGG down and a cup of jack squat from the media every day -probably wishes he were back in Nam instead of another round from the vicious whiners here. - mach32, on 07/19/2008, -18/+22i could care less about mccain. i care even less for obamarama. to those of you who think this man is some sort of political hero who stands up for the little guy, think again. he and the dnc are involved in an effort to hide all the homeless people in downtown denver, so they're unseen during the convention. yeah, there's your presidential candidates true color. he's not running for president on your behalf, he's doing it for himself. if you believe otherwise, you're blind and a fool.
- dannyomo, on 07/19/2008, -9/+1First, how do you hide the homeless? Put them in a building with heat and some food to occupy them? HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CRUELTY! I don't get where you could put homeless people that's reeeally that bad??
- mach32, on 07/19/2008, -3/+6you're not very bright are you.

- mach32, on 07/19/2008, -3/+5yeah, well so do i. guess you don't much listen to local radio or read the paper. so i'd suggest you actually come informed before spouting off.
- weside, on 07/19/2008, -3/+3Mach is right. It was on Digg and in the news yesterday that Denver is giving homeless people "cultural passes" for the same time the convention is going on. These passes will grant them entry to the zoo, for example.
- quidpro, on 07/19/2008, -1/+3ZOMG! Mayor Hickenlooper is making sure all the low-tech sprinklers work so that the grass is green during the convention too!!!! WTF??!!
You think some stormtroopers are gonna come out and actually spend time gathering up all the homeless in Denver? And you live here? Gimme a break. They're gonna hand out free movie and zoo passes. Big freaking deal. The people that want to stay out on the streets aren't going to be forced to watch Dark Knight or monkey exhibits against their wishes...That only happens here at Digg.

- angryfirelord, on 07/19/2008, -3/+6Because you spoke about the Almighty Huffington in a bad manner. Thus, the liberals have revoked you of your positive points and have sentenced your comment to the digg graveyard.

- Dotnetsky, on 07/19/2008, -19/+33Folks, this is from the Huffington Post - one of the most radical left-wing web outlets on the planet. Do you really believe everthing you read on the Internet? How about it...
- MommaKatz, on 07/19/2008, -8/+4It may be posted on HuffPost, but there's also video. He verbalize landing time within a 24 hour time frame. As far as believing everything I read on the internet - again, another personal attack because you dislike what others post.
I digg down progressives who do the same. Personal attacks are nothing more than outward symbolism of your own fear of what we progressives are saying.- txchica, on 07/19/2008, -1/+3Here's a thought: we see Obama all over the news every single day, multiple times a day at all these different events. Suddenly, nothing, he's no where to be found, not a single event televised, no more cutesy quotes, just nothing.......hmmm, where could he be? Taking a day off? Nope, because the media keeps us updated on those too.
Seriously, there's no way to hide this trip, much less make it secret, they'll just try and keep the actual time lines fuzzy. This is much ado about nothing.

- johndavidjack, on 07/19/2008, -16/+33Oh good god, this is a non-***** issue. It has been reported everywhere. Buried...
- normalizer, on 07/19/2008, -2/+19exactly.... I was accidently listening to NPR today and they were all giddy about how Obama was going to be in Kabul today or tomorrow and Iraq later in the week, and how all the media biggies would be following him on this first ever trip by a 1/3rd black presidential candidate to the area. Of course McCain was been there something like 6 times recently, but no mention of that....
If it was so secret why would they have been talking about it all week?
- normalizer, on 07/19/2008, -2/+19exactly.... - zippy757, on 07/19/2008, -20/+27...it's so sad how the young Americans attack non-stop McCain's age, and even more surprising is the viciousness in which they do it...it's a very poor reflection on today's youth.
Go ahead and DIGG me down. I hope you feel good about it.- Tayls, on 07/19/2008, -3/+4I agree in the way that it's much easier to attack his antiquated and hypocritical views. Not to mention that their the same views that supposedly pissed people off for the last eight years. I'm still not understanding how he has a fleeting chance due to that. The age thing has never been a factor for me, it's been the fact that he's more for killing people than his opponent.
- Zerophnx, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Dugg down for self righteousness.
His age is only a factor in the aspect that we have a long timeline where we can see what kind of person he is.
And yes, Obama made the trip 'as planned'. - Indpthinker, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2As a younger woman, it is not just his age for me. I would never vote for a republican. But, I must say, if there were a candidate for my preferred party who were as old and had such a traumatic past, I would note vote for them and here is why: First of all, he is looking worse and worse as his campaign goes on, you can see it physically draining him. Secondly, what is the stress of running one of the most ***** up countries on the face of the Earth going to to do to his mind, let alone the toll it would take on his body. In my opinion those who plan on voting for McCain, might take a good look at his V.P. cause that's who you're really voting for. Third, this guy does not have a good health record in general, he's had like every type of cancer imaginable. He's just too old to run this country, but not too old to still be a valuable member of society.
- theutopian, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1I'm with you on this. You don't get tortured for many years by the Vietcong and not be ***** up in the head. Is that who we want with their finger on the 'button?'

- TheInformer, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1You decided to renew it?
- stagmire, on 07/19/2008, -20/+8Notice how funtionally illiterate the right wingers on this thread are. They think that, because the media announced that Obama was going to be in Iraq, the media must have also announced the TIMING of Obama's trip to Iraq, and therefore McCain wasn't stating anything we didn't already know.
Why are right wing McCain supporting Bush lovers so ***** retarded?
Honestly, I'd like to know guys: why do you always say such monumentally stupid *****?- mach32, on 07/19/2008, -4/+11you here on behalf of the left wing illiterate? check your spelling, it'll help your cause when throwing stones.
- normalizer, on 07/19/2008, -4/+14so what was the exact time that McCain said he'd be there? Did he say the flight number too? Or did he just repeat what all the other media is also saying. Please enlighten me oh wise one....
- TheInformer, on 07/19/2008, -0/+7Asking the poster for factual evidence would ruin his comment, and his self esteem would be hurt. Can't have that, can we?
- DivisibleByZero, on 07/19/2008, -3/+11Dude, seriously? McCain gave a vague window, and further qualified it by saying that he's not privy to the schedule. He might as well have said, "sometime soon".
Nothing about it was specific, and that's why we all think it's ridiculous to whine about it. - bjornski, on 07/19/2008, -7/+3Well, apparently publicizing where Bush makes his "surprise visits", with location and time of arrival will be just fine to publicize too.
We can map it out on Google Earth and everything.
Knowing exactly where and when he'll be there won't affect his safety, AT ALL!
So it's just fine! - rda1441, on 07/19/2008, -5/+10You are the typical nut job liberal, or just liberal. Overly emotional, little reason, most likely hasn't bathed in a few weeks.
Please don't reproduce. - phrenzy, on 07/19/2008, -8/+2At the wingers respond to stagmire, thus confirming his point.

of Course the information that he Supposably had said was something others like NPR had already said and was widely known. It it so crazy to me how people flip out without knowing at all what they are flipping out about.- CARHINO, on 07/19/2008, -6/+8Let me clue you in. 90% of diggers are adolescent stoners, who believe ALL left wing kook-ade they come in contact with. Throw Rush, Shawn, and Savage, as well as FOX news in as traitors, since they have been reporting on this most of the week.
- MommaKatz, on 07/19/2008, -6/+1right - and what both of you missed was the time reference McCain gave in his answer. "Today or tomorrow' is pretty damn specific when it comes to this sort of thing. We've ALL known Obama was going for awhile, but not enough for any of us to pinpoint within 24 hours of landing. Oh, and since it's linked in video, this isn't an issue of believing anything the 'liberal' media throws at us.
As for the adolescent stoner comment - just goes to show that when you can't think of anything real to complain about you falsely attack the character of those you don't agree with. Sounds a lot like your current party leaders if you ask me!- txchica, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2Actually "today or tomorrow" is not very specific if you are planning some type of attack, that's a huge window, not to mention we don't know where he'll land, may be at some airbase outside of Baghdad and then fly in by helicopter. We don't know exacts, which is why it would be virtually impossible to plan any attack. You do realize they do security sweeps before these Congressional trips arrive, so even with an exact time, it would be really tough to carry out any sort of attack.
As for the stoner comment, have you ever ventured out and read any of the other submissions, there are a lot of very juvenile posters.
