McCain-Palin Rally Attendees: "Obama is a terrorist" (VIDEO)
huffingtonpost.com — File this one under the "give 'em enough rope" column. A pro-Obama blogger in Ohio caught McCain-Palin supporters as they streamed into a rally and asked some of the most salient questions of the day. Like, "is Obama a terrorist?"

- sjnorth, on 10/09/2008, -22/+832Charming. Obama doesn't even need to campaign with people like these out their representing the other side for what it really is - gross. Where are their white hoods, I wonder?
- Wargalas, on 10/09/2008, -185/+18Yes, play the race card, that's a good idea. How about discussion about a legitimate concern instead of bringing out the race card every time Obama gets some criticism?
If McCain had these ties, you guys would be all over it, putting multiple pages up on the front page within minutes.- vanzee, on 10/09/2008, -4/+187I live about 5 mins. from Strongsville, OH and trust me, it's about race.
- wendelgee2, on 10/09/2008, -4/+94No. We're concerned about the economy.
Aren't you?
Just like your candidate, all you can do is desperately hope to change the subject. - ogmwtfbbq, on 10/09/2008, -1/+76lol yeah people using the n word at black reporters in Palin's rally (confirmed by all MSM sources) = racist. You are just trying to hide behind your own bigotry so you make excuses and try to justify it.
- macaca, on 10/09/2008, -5/+78Its not about race card at all. Its about ignorance of people. And let me tell you about your "FRONT PAGE" accusation. Most of the Digg users always digg for substance ( for example: Ron Paul, Kucinich etc. ) because most of the Digg users are rational and educated. Most of the Diggers don't see race or party line but they do see rational and better future for the world.

You're kidding right? You must be new here. - heystoopid, on 10/09/2008, -0/+47You are certifiably insane if you either condone and/or tacitly approve this new line of attack period , no if buts or may be .
- avrygoodfrnd, on 10/09/2008, -0/+91"Yes, play the race card, that's a good idea"
A) The McCain camp are the ones who aren't talking about the issues
B) These people are obviously racist...
C) You're a troll or you didn't watch the video
D) You're a moron. - jgzman, on 10/09/2008, -1/+38What legitimate concern, exactly? The opposition belives that Obama, Democratic Canidate for President, is a terrorist.
The only legitimate concern is that the GOP seems to be making no effort whatever to prevent their supporters from believing this. Technically, it is not their job to do so, but since they started it, I feel they need to fix it. - GawtMilk, on 10/09/2008, -12/+18Just because a couple attendees think he's a terrorist, it's a GOP party problem? *****. People are idiots. There were a huge amount of Hillary supporters who thought he was a terrorist too. Racism isn't a trait given solely to the GOP. If you check my message history, people often respond to my comments that "I'm just some dumb hick from Kansas". That's racism too; coming from Obama supporters. To assume that there aren't any racist Obama supporters is stupid.
Racism against white people is still racism. A black person supporting Obama solely for the fact he's black is racism. A white person supporting McCain because he's the "white candidate" is racism. I've seen a lot of all three in this election. - Cadicus, on 10/09/2008, -0/+49If Obama was white.. people would not think he was a "terrorist".. period. America is fairly racist.. sad to say.
- Unrealevil, on 10/09/2008, -0/+8Legitimate concerns--do share.
Please view the content before commenting. - orlandogeek, on 10/09/2008, -1/+10It doesn't matter if it's about race or religion. There are still a sadly high number of people in this country who despite aligning with the Christian faith are anything but. They are intolerant, racist and believe that if you aren't Christian then you are not right and are going to Hell.
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/09/2008, -50/+4Another ***** smear article against McCain.
The libs act as if sites like Daily Kos, Digg, Crooks and Liars, et al, don't even exist.
I've seen PLENTY of hateful rhetoric on Digg aimed at McCain and especially Palin. - wendelgee2, on 10/09/2008, -2/+19Don't you come around here with your moral relativism trying to tell us that hatred based on bigotry and ignorance is the same as hatred based on policy differences and a loathing of the ugliness that McCain/Palin have inspired in this country. And they are the ones inspiring it, don't try to pass it off on a few yokels. This filth is a campaign strategy. And it's evil, and it's not Christian, and it's morally reprehensible, and you should be ashamed for defending it just because you think it might win your party an election. Shame on you.
- Wargalas, on 10/09/2008, -40/+4Funny, not one of you have proven me wrong. You've just screamed "racist"! We're talking about handing over the country's direction to one of these two men, and I think they deserve a bit of scrutiny, and when one of them associates with a preacher of hate, and a known terrorist, I think that's a valid concern.
Since none of you can see that, you're all partisan sheep. You don't like to hear it, but it's not even an opinion, it's a certifiable fact. - bluezinc, on 10/09/2008, -1/+24It's not "playing the race card" when the other side says ***** like, "follow the blood lines", implying he's a terrorist because he's.... black? And that his name is "Hussein", like he's one of Saddam's secret children, sent on a mission from birth to become America's president and then blow it all up.
- HumanNouveau, on 10/09/2008, -1/+24@ Wargalas
You're wrong. You need to take off your own partisan glasses and look at the facts about Obama. Take the guilt by association bit. One of the qualities of a healthy mind is the ability to associate with a wide range of people. To hear their words (all by the way, not the out-of-context sound bites), agree with some set others aside, and understand the people behind them.
Obama has heard people who are critical of US policy and society. Hell, if you look around, you'd have to be crazy to believe that we need no criticism. But that doesn't mean he's throwing the baby out with the bathwater. He's a man who can listen to even you. He can put your ideas into a complex network of other people's ideas and find a way toward reconciliation and progress.
His litmus testing opponent can't do that. He's a bully and a manipulator in a party that has made that it's main tactic. We're done with them. Time to start healing. Time to start healing the frightened, angry people in those lines. Let's get him elected and then let's do something more constructive for our communities and our country than "go shopping." - Wargalas, on 10/09/2008, -31/+4@bluezinc
You aren't paying attention. No one is saying Obama is a terrorist. We're saying that he's awfully friendly with someone who is. YOU are saying that he's a terrorist because he's black.
@Human
So, by your argument, Obama should be associating with Bin Laden? It's an extreme, but it's exactly what you are saying.
Sorry, but I don't want someone in office who hangs around a guy who plants bombs and kills people.
http://www.rightwinglunatic.com/wp/?p=3420
I especially don't want someone in office who KNEW about it, and did nothing about it afterward, and continued to associate with the person.
Stop with the appeasement and take a hard look at a guy who says he's got good judgment when clearly he doesn't.
We could even argue about Obama's judgment on things like the economy. He has asked for hundreds of millions of dollars in earmarks when we couldn't afford it. McCain has asked for almost zero.
Obama asked for millions of dollars for his wife's employer, which she then got a hefty raise for.
Obama hangs around a preacher who preaches hate. Then exposes his children to such a man.
Obama opposed the surge in troops in Iraq, which you can argue he wasn't for it to begin with, but he wasn't in office to vote upon it. When you get into office, you are faced with decisions about events that are beyond your control. Obama was faced with such a decision, and he made the wrong one. - yakski, on 10/09/2008, -2/+20Warglas... you are a MORON!!!
John McCain associated with right wing death squads in central and south america... how come you do not care about that?
John McCain went after and got support from a preacher that spews HATE... how come you do not care about that? After he was publicly embarrassed by his association he disassociated himself... how come you don't care about that?
He fully supported the illegal sale of weapons to IRAN!.. how come you don't care about that?
He fully supported illegal financial and weapons support to the Contras!!... how come you don't care about that?

- HumanNouveau, on 10/09/2008, -0/+15@ Wargalas
Actually, it might have been a good idea to talk with Bin Laden many years back. It's the way of feuds that petty grievances pile up into mountains of difference. The idea that terrorists spring from the womb lusting after blood is nonsense. It is fueled by injustice and ignorance, and by a failure to deal with the human condition in all the places where conflictis still small, and the parties still amenable to resolution. Bin Laden is beyond talking to now. That movement is frozen in a conflict with an opposing force, and has come to define itself by that conflict.
However, there are many other conflicts out there now that we can still head off. The struggle between North Carolinian's and Mexicans was in the news today. Sad stuff all the way around. Things like that are still small enough to deal with. They can be defused.
The trick is to deal with problems where they're small. No heroic rescues. We need foreign and domestic policies that promote fairness and goodness. The conservative movement seems to have written off the possibiliity of goodness outside ther own number, and are huddled together in fear to guard their ***** and their standing in the world. Can't see that they are sowing the seeds of their own distruction. - bwoodwar, on 10/10/2008, -1/+17Wow, Wargalas. You sir are a professional troll. I do think though that your views are a little flawed, so I'm going to step up and try to, as you say, read what you've written and think about it.
"Yes, play the race card, that's a good idea."
I say, as other have, watch the video. A lot of what is said is about race.
"If McCain had these ties, you guys would be all over it, putting multiple pages up on the front page within minutes."
This simply isn't true. McCain has ties to government corruption and a flawed military background, yet there are few stories about it. I'd talk about some of Palin's ties, but then you'd probably say "but I never said anything about her".
"We're talking about handing over the country's direction to one of these two men, and I think they deserve a bit of scrutiny, and when one of them associates with a preacher of hate, and a known terrorist, I think that's a valid concern."
I agree. Some scrutiny is needed. I also agree that "associating with a preacher of hate" is a valid concern, but its been blown a little out of proportion. Since I don't feel like going on about this, I'll just point you back to HumanNouveau post.
"No one is saying Obama is a terrorist."
Ugh... Have you watched either video yet? Yes, they are.
"So, by your argument, Obama should be associating with Bin Laden? It's an extreme, but it's exactly what you are saying."
You really are a hypocrite. Read and think before saying something. That's NOT "exactly" what he is saying. That is an extreme interpretation of his words.
"We could even argue about Obama's judgment on things like the economy. He has asked for hundreds of millions of dollars in earmarks when we couldn't afford it. McCain has asked for almost zero."
Wait, wait, wait... back that last sentence up with facts please. When he was Secretary to the Navy, McCain used billions of dollars in pork-barrel spending for unneeded naval projects. Go look up his association with the Carrier Midway.
"Perhaps you should actually read what I write and think about it before you spew out idiocy."
Practice what you preach.
Good enough for you Wargalas? Probably not since you seem to have a knack for taking peoples arguments out context. - subUrbanLEGEND, on 10/10/2008, -3/+7@GawtMilk
I'd say there is a pretty big difference between a black person voting for Obama because he's black and a white person not voting for Obama because he's black.
This is the first time in our history where a black parent can show his or her children that the office of the presidency isn't unattainable. That fact alone - that hope - is worth a vote from a black voter. Up until this year, black voters had no choice but to vote for a white guy. I'd say that pretty much gives them the right to do whatever the hell they want in this election.
Now, if you vote for someone else just because Obama is black, what non-hateful reasoning can you possibly have?
I'm white and I'm voting for Obama for many reasons. One of them is because he is black. Because our country is one of opportunity. - Kronos43, on 10/10/2008, -3/+17Warglas..

No, you simply don't want to face my points head on. You're a coward who can't face the fact that I'm bringing up valid points about Obama and the hypocritical nature of Digg users. Sorry, you lose. - opiniastrous, on 10/10/2008, -2/+2I'm going to have to agree with half of Wargalas' statement:
"If McCain had these ties, you guys would be all over it, putting multiple pages up on the front page within minutes."
He is completely correct. So many people here on Digg scream blue murder when McCain's supporters say things about Obama, but then they go and submit/digg articles about McCain that are just as bad. Yesterday there was a submission that claimed McCain would not shake Obama's hand, when:
1) There was a slight misunderstanding (which neither Obama nor McCain seemed to care about) that was clearly visible through their body language, and
2) There was footage to show McCain shook Obama's hand immediately after the debate.
Another example is the "that one" furore. Sure, it wasn't a good example of Presidential speech, but there was nothing really wrong with it. Diggers and Democrats however, cried out about how it showed McCain's disdain for Obama, or that he was racist, etc.
Just so you know, I support Obama*, but I'm not a Democrat. As a real "Washington outsider" (I live halfway across the world), I am constantly appalled at the state of the American political arena and the hateful partisan behaviour that is exhibited day after day. Sure, every political system is partisan, but they base their arguments on policy, not on whether one of the candidates once met some guy who was associated with another guy that was the brother of a guy on the board of the International Neo-Nazi Confederation.
Conclusion: You're all biased. Stop abusing people (and the candidates) just because they don't agree with you and have a real discussion based on what matters - policy and personal ability.
*I just realised that I shouldn't have to mention this, but I do because if I don't give some indication that I'm on the side of those who will digg me down for disagreeing/criticising, then my point of view would never get across. I think that reflects very poorly on the condition of the debate here at Digg. - jer2eydevil88, on 10/10/2008, -3/+3Warglas makes me cringe... - JDRay, on 10/09/2008, -1/+30I wanted to see ONE of them stop and say something to the effect of, "I think Barack Obama is a Christian who loves his country and has the best interests of America at heart. But I don't believe his policies are best for the country, and I believe that John McCain is the better man for the office of President. So, I'm voting McCain."
But we didn't see any of that, and I doubt it was because the videographer edited them out. - al3x24, on 10/09/2008, -1/+7The best way to fight these people is to let them be and fight for Obama instead. When you fight against something you only make the opposition worse. You can only truly win when you fight for something. That is the missed lesson of every war. Hate can't exist in the presence of love just like dark can't exist in the presence of light.
- HumanNouveau, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4I doubt they want to hate. I think they want to stop being afraid. Sybok needed to be in that line.
- eaglered00, on 10/10/2008, -10/+2@JDRay I'm sure several of them did but it wasn't considered interesting enough to put in the video. There are stupid people on both sides, I'm sure if you spent enough time at Obama rallies you could put a nice video like this together too.
- phike, on 10/09/2008, -4/+123"Yes, play the race card, that's a good idea. How about discussion about a legitimate concern instead"
You mean a legitimate concern like how Obama is a terrorist because is name rhymes with Osama? That's what one of the attendees of a McCain-Palin rally said in the video....watch it. It is scary how propoganda can persuade people, no matter how false.
"If McCain had these ties, you guys would be all over it, putting multiple pages up on the front page within minutes."
This must be your first time on digg....those stories have already been all over digg, most with more legitimacy than the Ayers scandal. People are calling Obama a terrorist not based on what he's done, but because of his name and heritage. - AngryAngryBrian, on 10/09/2008, -1/+48They are calling Obama a terrorist based on his name not his actions.

So I'd say it's safe to assume that guy's answer is yes, but even he was judging Obama based on (what he thought were) Obama's actions. So call that guy an idiot, but not a racist. If Obama actually had attended a terrorist training school, the guy's argument would be valid. - argaen21, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4How many people did Obama get killed by abusing his power? Ya, zero. Despite what liberals seem to believe with an almost religious fervor, if Obama gets elected, he will not change the country all that much. Nobody expects utopia, but we've seen what men like Bush have done with that power. If anything, I hope he shrinks the power of the presidency to the level it was intended to have.
"there are ignorant and racist people on both sides then."
true, but how many black Obama supporters do you think have voted for a white candidate in the past? How many of these rabid Palin supporters do you suppose have ever voted for a black candidate? - NeptuneZen, on 10/09/2008, -3/+1@spinninghead fanaticism transcends religion. I have no problem if someone is religious (I'm an atheist) its only when they are a fanatic that it will affect my vote. Despite how digg likes to portray Palin, she is not a fanatic, she never tried to ban the origin of man from libraries. She never tried to mandate teaching of creationism in schools.
You hope a Democrat will shrink the power of the presidency? What would ever make you think a liberal would want to decrease the power of any branch of the government? The democrats whole platform is based around adding more to the federal government.
How many people do you think the guy in the video had to ask before he got people to say Obama is a terrorist? Just because some of them think that, first off doesn't make them racist only misinformed. And secondly what make you think all of them would say that? So you have taken a small video of a few McCain/Palin supporters and made sweeping generalities calling the entire conservative base racist. - drewh1991, on 10/09/2008, -1/+8How about this:

Sarah Palin is a "Third Wave Pentecostal" the most extreme strain of Christianity. They are believers in "end times" and will even go so far as to incite the signs (war with the middle east and mass suffering) of the return of Jesus Christ in an effort to speed his return to earth. Please read and watch:

"The radical religious right has succeeded in taking over one of America's great political parties. The country is not yet a theocracy but the Republican Party is, and they are driving American politics, using God as a battering ram on almost every issue: crime and punishment, foreign policy, health care, taxation, energy, regulation, social services and so on." -- Bill Moyers
Sarah Palin's churches are actively involved in a resurgent movement that was declared heretical by the Assemblies of God in 1949. This is the same 'Spiritual Warfare' movement that was featured in the award winning movie, "Jesus Camp," which showed young children being trained to do battle for the Lord. At least three of four of Palin's churches are involved with major organizations and leaders of this movement, which is referred to as The Third Wave of the Holy Spirit or the New Apostolic Reformation. The movement is training a young "Joel's Army" to take dominion over the United States and the world.
Along with her entire family, Sarah Palin was re-baptized at twelve at the Wasilla Assembly of God in Wasilla, Alaska and she attended the church from the time she was ten until 2002: over two and 1/2 decades. Sarah Palin's extensive pattern of association with the Wasilla Assembly of God has continued nearly up to the day she was picked by Senator John McCain as a vice-presidential running mate. Palin's dedication to the Wasilla church is indicated by a Saturday, September 7, 2008, McClatchy news service story detailing possibly improper use of state travel funds by Palin for a trip she made to Wasilla, Alaska to attend, on June 8, 2008, both a Wasilla Assembly of God "Masters Commission" graduation ceremony and also a multi-church Wasilla area event known as "One Lord Sunday." At the latter event, Palin and Alaska LT Governor Scott Parnell were publicly blessed, onstage before an estimated crowd of 6,000, through the "laying on of hands" by Wasilla Assembly of God's Head Pastor Ed Kalnins whose sermons espouse such theological concepts as the possession of geographic territories by demonic spirits and the inter-generational transmission of family "curses". Palin has also been blessed, or "anointed," by an African cleric, prominent in the Third Wave movement, who has repeatedly visited the Wasilla Assembly of God and claims to have effected positive, dramatic social change in a Kenyan town by driving out a "spirit of witchcraft."
The Wasilla Assembly of God church is deeply involved with both Third Wave activities and theology. Their Master's Commission program is part of an three year post-high school international training program with studies in prophecy, intercessory prayer, Biblical exegesis, authority and leadership. The pastor, Ed Kalnins, and Masters Commission students have traveled to South Carolina to participate in a "prophetic conference" at Morningstar Ministries, one of the major ministries of the Third Wave movement. Becky Fischer was a pastor at Morningstar prior to being featured in the movie "Jesus Camp." The head of prophecy at Morningstar, Steve Thompson, is currently scheduled to do a prophecy seminar at the Wasilla Assembly of God. Other major leaders in the movement have also traveled to Wasilla to visit and speak at the church. "

God forbid this should ever happen, but McCain really doesn't know or is oblivious to the hornets nest he's stirring up by trying to solidify the Republican base.
Why doesn't the Secret Service or someone step in and just put a stop to this? Right here. Right now.
If he thinks the election can be won by scraping the bottom of the barrel with these rural white votes, he's sadly mistaken. Hoping for enough xenophobic, racist, paranoid whites out there that are angry enough to turn out and vote is a piss poor strategy.- eyepennies, on 10/09/2008, -1/+16This has been the Republican thing now for a while. They only care about victory, not governance. They are really good at getting elected, but they suck at everything after that. Morally bankrupt. The same ***** happened last cycle, and the one before that, but this time their opponent is African-American so they have a LOT more to work with to get their rabid base frothing.

- HumanNouveau, on 10/09/2008, -0/+8Oh, so these people are fruits, but Obama's supporters are bigger fruits? Is that what this is about, being the least fruity?
For my part, I digg the people at Obama rallies. Not full of hate. Worried, yes. Passionate about the economy, the war, civil rights and human rights, sure. Any thinking person should be. But there's a level of integrity there. Beliefs based on more than fear. Determination to move forward and not back.
Obama rallies are cool.
- HumanNouveau, on 10/09/2008, -0/+8Oh, so these people are fruits, but Obama's supporters are bigger fruits? Is that what this is about, being the least fruity?
- quantumkate, on 10/09/2008, -17/+8I don't want to represent either side but I have to make a point. How many of the people he interviewed said "no, he's not a terrorist." how many were sound well balanced people? This video is biased, representing perhaps only a small percentage of radicals at the convention. How many answered the questions rationally but were not put in this video?
- eyepennies, on 10/09/2008, -0/+8I hope you are right; I hope that this represents a very small minority. But really, it only takes one lunatic to pick up a gun. Obviously, crazy people don't really need a reason to do crazy *****, but I do think it is deeply irresponsible for McCain/Palin to be encouraging this kind of morally bankrupt mentality in order to win. They won't win, but the repercussions of this tactic will be felt for a long time to come, and I hope nothing ghastly comes of it.

I'm not saying the guys who gave him what he wanted aren't *****, but this video is ***** propaganda and the people who don't see what the author of this video is trying to do are not too far from the stooges on the video. There's brainwashing going on alright, but on both parties.- Shiftgood, on 10/09/2008, -0/+7Its not so much that hes presenting a biased opinioin. Its more that hes just giving us all a freakshow.

and they are.. they are so dumb its beyond belief... so lets make them into entertainment. - poxonyou, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4"fair and balanced answer" is a red flag to your political viewpoint. Also, answering every problem on the Republican side, or McCain/Plain, with a response like "but both parties (Obama/Biden) are just as bad," is another. The parties are different, the base(s) they rely on are different, and the problems they have are different.
Anyway, I think the interviewer would have come off much better had he been friendly and funny (Daily Show style) rather than being confrontational. He could have made the same point without giving people ammo to attack him with ("This guy's an *****. He blah blah blah"). Oh well, remember we're looking at the type of things supporters believe, not how friendly/confrontational the interviewer was. - Asianwaste, on 10/10/2008, -0/+1---"fair and balanced answer" is a red flag to your political viewpoint
Right and wrong. I'm normally moderate conservative that actually is going to vote for Obama this election. Simply because the GOP has been kind of a ***** up lately and lacks a good domestic recovery policy (which IMO is more important than Iraq and Global War on Terror ATM). GOP needs to sit in a corner for a few years and rethink what they've been doing lately.
---Oh well, remember we're looking at the type of things supporters believe
The point I was trying to get across is that believe it or not, some people support McCain because they believe in his merits rather than some shallow prejudice against his opponent. The ***** the video is trying to create is some generalization that probably only a few geographically centralized bad eggs really believe in. It's the same prejudice and bigotry that the interviewer was criticizing, just aimed else where. It drives a wedge between our people.
The enemy is never as evil as we want them to be. You don't win these fights by painting an exaggerated negative image of the opposition. It's what we did in the Cold War and many other campaigns and it always leads to disaster. You want to win more votes for your candidate, convince the supporters of the opponent that their way of thinking is wrong. You get nothing done trying to convince someone else that those guys are morons.

- Arkons24, on 10/10/2008, -4/+3I only bring it up because every single argument that is brought up against John McCain on this site is the same type of specious argument that pervades your entire way of thinking and the thinking of every liberal that comments in these threads (save maybe about dozen of you I've heard stand up against these pointless and irrelevant stories).
Bill Ayers' connection with Obama is a specious argument, just like everything that your absolute hatred of McCain and Palin is based on.
Look at where Obama has voted and what his record shows and you'll see a record that is completely contrary to the image he tries to portray. All of your reasons you have for voting for Obama are the same reasons that you hate John McCain. That guy would look less crazy if he just came out and said he's not going to vote for him because he's black (which is what he would say if wasn't a coward).
when I made the original reply I was thinking that its a little messed up that a person must put in more effort to get a driver's license, than they do to be able to vote.
- pilot3033, on 10/09/2008, -1/+11i dugg you down, not because people should be informed when voting, but because that type of testing can lead to ugly, ugly things that I thought we, as a country, had moved away from.
- d05k, on 10/09/2008, -3/+9why do people think these people are "crazy" or "uninformed"? They're lying on purpose and they know it. To be fair its the same for people on either pole of the political spectrum. Extremists are liars with an overall negative, unhappy "everyone does it my way or dies" agenda.
- rubicante, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2Yea it comes from both sides, but there are more on the religious right. Considering their absolute power over the last 12 year, their vitriol is out of place (one might expect it from the left). Anyway, believing in fringe conspiracy theories doesn't set race relations back 30 years.
- solid12345, on 10/10/2008, -3/+1Because liberals cannot distinguish reality from satire. Most of these people no less "really" believe Obama is a terrorist more than the left say republicans are nazis and fascists. They do it just to piss people off who are baiting them on camera.
- notanidiot, on 10/10/2008, -0/+2Repubs aren's nazis or fascists, the politicians may be, but the supporters are uneducated redneck retards.

- homercles337, on 10/09/2008, -0/+6Have you noticed that the Repugs like to say that Dems are afraid of Palin? As if that is a rebuttal to being critical of her. Much worse.

https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/mai ... - raskali, on 10/09/2008, -2/+1I think you have to be really careful with a video like this. Like most media, people tend to edit together the worst comments to make a greater impact. The interviewer may have very well gotten many comments from people who didn't feel like that, but that's boring, so we of course only see the worst.
I'm sure you could find just as many people at a Democratic convention who would give equally moronic comments about Palin and McCain, there are lots of stupid, angry people around. What makes the US great however is not the stupid people, but the smart and decent people, and there are LOTS of them - hundreds of millions.
Here's hoping all the good people feel motivated enough to get out and vote for Obama!- 22pages, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2wait, there are hundreds of millions of smart people in the US?

Even those "enlightened" countries in Western Europe have multitudes of xenophobic and racist maniacs. As a black woman I felt more discriminated against in Europe than I did in the States, which is pretty incredible considering the horrible racial history of the US.
Bigots and idiots are everywhere on this planet. Ours just happen to be in the same party as the corporate elite, which gives them a lot of power. The McCain campaign is pretty close to the line, if not over. Don't forget what happened as a result of that anti-muslim / paint Obama muslim DVD mailer.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-rodda/muslim-c ... - Smuikas, on 10/09/2008, -5/+18While hate crimes are excruciatingly deplorable, hate crime legislation is almost as bad. Before you fly off the handle, hear me out - and then feel free to disagree.
A crime is an act. It doesn't matter the motivation behind the act - sometimes (like in murder) it matters if you planned it or not.
Hate is a belief, not an act. So taking into account someone's beliefs with regards to a law is akin to thought crime. While hate is absolutely awful, and I wish we lived in a world where we didn't have to hate (haha, hippy)... making the punishment for something worse just because hate is involved doesn't solve anything. Education solves hate, not giving someone a few extra years in jail - which will probably exacerbate the hate! - pintomp3, on 10/09/2008, -1/+12smiukas: a hate crime is different than a crime a passion or a crime of opportunity. when you target a person or a group simply because of their race, gender, sexual preference you are sending a message to the entire community. when they lynched a black man who attempted to vote, they were sending a message to the entire black community "don't you dare try and vote". when they murdered a white woman for driving blacks to voting locations, they sent a message to anyone else who dared to help blacks vote. motive is used in sentencing for good reason. running over someone by accident is not the same as murdering someone because of their skin color.
- comeandtakeit, on 10/09/2008, -2/+2pintomp3 said: "running over someone by accident is not the same as murdering someone because of their skin color."
Right... Like smiukas said... "sometimes (like in murder) it matters if you planned it or not."
My question to pintomp3:
Is running over someone because of their skin color the same as running over someone who is a member of your rival gang? (if both dudes were black dudes)...
Yes it is...
Both crimes were preplanned murders meant to strike fear in the hearts of a community. Ergo Hate-Crime-Laws: Epic Fail. - pintomp3, on 10/09/2008, -0/+7comeandtakeit: you chose to be in a gang, you don't choose your skin color.

- hotvision, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4If anything the democrats dont hate enough. Often too soft when it comes the campaign trail, ie. John Kerry 2004 bid. Republicans ( and Fox News) however appear to have that nice sore loser hate going right now, its a large heap of ***** and ignorance that they apply to their campaign strategy, help keep the blood flowing to the head and clogging up any rational thought. The willful self-delusion of these Palin-McCain supporters (and yes, I reversed them purposefully) is stunning and sad. If they weren't so whack-job dangerous to the country it would be funny.
--------
"Political extremism involves two prime ingredients; and excessively simple diagnosis of the world's ills, and a conviction that there are identifiable villains in back of it all."
-- John W. Gardner.- pintomp3, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3it's tough. those who are economically conservative and socially liberal don't have a lot of options. clinton was about as close as it came to that in the past few decades. the elections and debate commissions are run by the two parties so everyone else is locked out. in an ideal world, the republican party would be crushed this election, and the democrats in the following. the founding fathers were against such things as political parties and standing armies for good reason.
- ISurfTooMuch, on 10/09/2008, -0/+9The best thing that true conservatives can do is form their own party or at least informal political grouping and withdraw from the GOP for a while. The right-wing nutjobs seem to want to take over the party, so let them have it for a while. They'll manage to completely wreck it in short order and lose all political credibility in the process. At that point, the real conservatives can come back in, sweep the trash out the door, and try to rebuild the party.
And yes, I'm a Democrat, but I have many friends who are Republicans, and I respect them. My former boss from many years ago was a Republican, and he was also a true gentleman. We would argue for hours over our differing political beliefs, but neither of us got angry. On the contrary, we had fun with it, and when we were done, there were no hard feelings. We could disagree on everything but still respect each other. That's what we need in politics, not a bunch of ignorant, loudmouthed bigots. - shawn1122, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3More like the National ***** party, there are a lot of christians who are voting for Obama, I personally agree with his view and beliefs in his religion moreso than I do with McCain or Palin. - skyroket, on 10/09/2008, -0/+16Come on guys. Don't fall into the same trap of generalization. There are Republican people on all levels of the spectrum, and even some "Republicans" that cross over into the left. You can't generalize the entire Republican party as a hate group. You don't think there are at least a couple that also despise what is going on with attacks on Obama?
You expect them to have an open mind when you're arguing and debating with them, but you don't have an open mind when you view them?
Don't get me wrong. The people in this video that we just watched are pretty closed-minded and easily fooled by smooth words, but I have seen evidence their entire party isn't like this.- JoeVet, on 10/09/2008, -4/+4Sorry but I haven't met a republican yet who didn't have a group he/she absolutely hated. Even the most intelligent ones will tell you how America would be stronger by killing all the gays/blacks/immigrants/jews. If there is a Republican out there who accepts all others as Christ would, I have not met them and I doubt they exist.
- lazlonger, on 10/10/2008, -2/+3if they as a party court and encourage these *****, which they do, then they are these *****, one and the same, plain and simple.
- vcn3wb05, on 10/10/2008, -0/+2Thank you for the thoughtful comment, skyroket. I'm one of those that cross over into the middle and/or left. And JoeVet, *raises hand*. I'm one of them that accepts all others as Christ would. Nice to meet you!
- fiatjustitia, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3skyrocket, I see where you're coming from, but we *need* more people on the Republican Right who don't live their lives through hate and fear to denounce it when they hear it coming from their fellow Republicans. I know that some people in that video were thinking to themselves"Wow, I'm all for McCain, but that ***** over there who's calling Obama a Communist isn't helping anything", they stay silent, because they're worried about the backlash. This is understandable, but the Republican Party is at a cross roads- bring back original conservatism, or walk down the path of fascism.
- NevaDieENT, on 10/10/2008, -0/+7I don't get it though what do they expect Obama to do... he is suddenly going to become president and tell the US Navy to start bombing American cities? - had3l, on 10/10/2008, -3/+2Come on, the people might be idiots, but the guy interviewing was leading the questions. If he pretended to be more impartial he could have gotten more stuff out of them. What's up with asking that woman's name anyway?

- kryvor, on 10/10/2008, -0/+1I find the views expressed by those people rather ironic, considering that the Republican party was created in opposition to an Act that would have allowed the expansion of slavery into Kansas... and that the party was originally dedicated to modernization & higher education.

Perhaps the self respect is long gone. Sad to see him willing to associate with this type of behaviour.
- lowbot, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4Why do people idealize the McCain of the past.
1. His voting record is strict conservative.
2. His Keating 5 scandal is pathetic and dishonorable. If we had real congressional oversight then he probably wouldnt have a job.
3. He let Bush smear him in 2000 with rumors like having a 'black baby' without fighting back or trying to clean-up the discourse.
4. He did poorly in school and has crashed 6 planes.
5. He routinely used the word 'gooks' to describe both Asians and Arabs.
Sorry, but all you know is a PR stunt. There is no 'old McCain.' What you see if what you get. - justbloggin, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2Not suggesting McCain is the best candidate by a longshot, nor am I defending him. The majority of my immediate family has been staunch conservative for years, and it was difficult as a very liberal college student to not conflict with them. I've found the best way is to beat around the bush and never get engaged if you're afraid of a screaming match. Thankfully my family just feels Obama is too liberal, and not some kind of crazy terrorist.
- camilos007, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3I would disown them and get a new family. But that's just me.
- spamspam, on 10/09/2008, -1/+5You mean the fact that we're wasting resources like food and water for these idiots? And how we could be using them on something more worthwhile? It is heartbreaking isn't it?
- solid12345, on 10/10/2008, -8/+3Callig Obama a terrorist, that is racist
But calling any right-wing president like Reagan fascist thugs, well it's all in good sport!
- booksnmore4you, on 10/09/2008, -5/+178This descent into fascism is what you get when you allow a country's broadcast systems to be overrun by 24/7 hate radio of the ilk of Hannity, Levine, and Limbaugh.
- rondeth, on 10/09/2008, -5/+7As much as I despise Hannity, what is the alternative? I've heard of 'fairness' acts, but I'm not sure if I could support them. If you lean that way, you'll listen to Rush and lap everything up--if leaning the other way, perhaps NPR (not quite as overt IMO). I listen to Rush from time to time and enjoy him, but I'm all Obama in this particular race. I think the answer is to get people to educate themselves, to require the facts on issues without partisan spin.
- jeffbw, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4I'll take a fairness doctrine over this crap any day. And you can't be serious about comparing NPR to the Fat Turd - NPR is pretty straight what they used to call "journalism," whereas absolutely everything that exits the oral orifice of that pig is a massive distortion. Perhaps you could compare him somewhat to Randi Rhodes.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2I recently started listening to more talk radio and I've tried to remain as objective as possible. I haven't been able to detect any bias in NPR, and I've tried. It's certainly more "fair and balanced" than other sources that claim to be. One thing that's interesting is that Rush is the only major radio talk show host I've heard that goes so far as to revile the other side. Rather than just criticize Obama or Clinton or whoever his current target is, he'll hurl some insults around and follow that up with "but that's how liberals are" or "that's how liberals think". If that happens on the left side of talk radio, I haven't heard it. (disclaimer: I live in an area that's heavily conservative, so there's a lot more conservative talk radio on the airwaves than liberal)
- Dejacque, on 10/09/2008, -1/+1The problem with talk radio is that they don't allow contrary opinions. At least O'Reilly and Hannity and the guys on Fox News try to mitigate their bias. Limbaugh and Savage just spew hatred, and so many people listen because it's controversial.
- solid12345, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3Don't blame Limbaugh that liberals never bothered to tune their radios in to Air America. Don't get the ratings, you don't get airtime.
- TheInformer, on 10/10/2008, -1/+3It goes along with the descent into fanaticism and "ignorism" that you get when you allow a country's broadcast systems to be overrun by 24/7 hating by CNN, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, NPR, ABC, et. al. and the ilk of Olbermann and Randi Rhodes, and the hero worship each and every one of them have shown towards Obama.
- SpacePoet, on 10/10/2008, -0/+1Media consolidation had a lot to do with this.
- rondeth, on 10/09/2008, -5/+7As much as I despise Hannity, what is the alternative? I've heard of 'fairness' acts, but I'm not sure if I could support them. - shampoovta, on 10/09/2008, -254/+13LOL you should hear what a guy said at a McCain rally today. LOL. They hate this socialist crap. Yay so do I.
***** Obama.- cattletracks, on 10/09/2008, -4/+104Socialist crap? You mean the socialism that is rampant in Corporate America?
- bodisatvah, on 10/09/2008, -0/+17Paid for by Carl's Jr.
- MindStalker, on 10/09/2008, -4/+45You know I don't like socialism much either. But lately our government is spending 10x the amount on corporate welfare than they are on social welfare. F that. I'd like a completely open free market, but it ain't happening any time soon. If welfare has to be going somewhere I'd rather it be going to help people than corporations.
- enki25, on 10/09/2008, -3/+59Wait, you're the blond in this video right?
- licnyc, on 10/09/2008, -1/+17The US already has some degree of socialism just like every other country, it some respects its more socialist then countries you think are socialist. To avoid "socialist crap" you'll have to try a different planet.
- FrenchAnarchy, on 10/09/2008, -4/+18
LOL./s
***** you. - Dumbledorito, on 10/09/2008, -1/+16It's cheaper to pay for a "bare minimum" social safety net than it is to keep sending buckets of money to the wealthy idiots who orchestrated and exacerbated this crisis to begin with.
- Atropos77, on 10/09/2008, -2/+14I feel sorry for you. You had the chance to be born an intelligent person. Sadly though, you were born an imbecile.
I'd be angry though, too if I were you. Your dick of a candidate is going to lose. Sorry 'bout that! Loser! ;) - enantiodromia, on 10/09/2008, -1/+20you must REALLY hate Bush then! he has allowed the largest Socialization of America
- Dejacque, on 10/09/2008, -1/+6A girl on the Internet? Obvious troll is obvious.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 10/09/2008, -1/+10You had your fun for eight years and the guy you and yours chose to back ran the country into the ground. Clearly your opinion on who's best to run the country is an educated opinion of worth and merit. Dick.
- DasTroll, on 10/09/2008, -2/+10Racist *****. Eat ***** and die.
- cattletracks, on 10/09/2008, -4/+104Socialist crap? You mean the socialism that is rampant in Corporate America?
- okayokayokay, on 10/09/2008, -10/+318These are the folks responsible for Bush's 25% approval rating. They're the only people who are aggressively ignorant enough to think he's doing a heck of a job.
- bhamster, on 10/09/2008, -0/+21"aggressively ignorant"- yes very appropriate wording.
"look at his bloodlines", "look at his name"
People throw around the word "ignorant" too much. Though, in this case it is very fitting.- gwoydean, on 10/09/2008, -0/+8Another kudos for "aggressively ignorant".
They think McCain/Palin is one of them, why? McCain comes from a family of Admirals; Palin is a millionaire. Bush...you know.
The only thing wrong to them about Obama is that he doesn't look like them. - funkyloki, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5Aren't there something like a mill
- gwoydean, on 10/09/2008, -0/+8Another kudos for "aggressively ignorant".
