North Korea must've been upset at us for not talking to them....so they developed nuclear weapons. Talk about a bad reaction to being given the cold shoulder. - iraq, on 07/23/2008, -2/+3The surge is a bunch of *****. We send additional troops because what we had wasn't adequate to handle the missions underway. Further, in addition to sending more Americans to die, we paid off Sunni militia to NOT KILL us. A combination of nearly one million a day in payment to the Sunni and extra troops to "secure" the area and suddenly the surge is the reason our troops are succeeding on the ground?
It was never intended to be long term, all it did was delay the inevitable and it is no coincidence that this short term coincides with the end of Bush's presidency.
