- damndj, on 07/07/2008, -36/+36I'm going to do all I can to attend. This is going to be historic.
Shut up, kc8ukw.- iharbinger, on 07/08/2008, -9/+17there are so many conservatives on digg, a comment like this is suiside, Us remaining lefties gotta stand together!
- MrTito, on 07/08/2008, -10/+13It's a certain conservative core plus the mindless trend-followers of Digg that are "tired of obama" that are digging pro-Obama comments down. Like every fad, it'll pass. And closer to election day, the Obama majority will prevail on Digg and at the polls.
- Narrwald, on 07/08/2008, -2/+6Suiside indeed...
- Coolkid11, on 07/08/2008, -15/+8You and Obama are the real Conservatives. You want to conserve the current path the government is taking by electing man who supported the Patriot Act, FISA, and a call for youth to volunteer for 2 years (much like Bush said). You are the true Conservative.
- quaxon, on 07/08/2008, -14/+5Im as leftists as it gets but ive said ***** obama from the beginning. He is nothing but a slimy corporate sleaze meister who is not going to be much different than bush, clinton, reagan and all the other ***** you idiots elect. You dont want change, you just want to hop on the newest trend.
- quaxon, on 07/08/2008, -11/+5For those digging me down i would love to hear how obama is any different?
He supports fisa, he will still continue to give extortion money to israel and even go to war to protect them (he is buddy buddy with aipac even though he claims to not pander to lobby groups), he wants to expand faith based initiatives, he is against gay marriage, he wants to continue the drug war, he has no plans to do away with the patriot act (which he voted for), he wants to expand our military presence in the middle east to pakistan and iran (when israel gives the orders that is), he still wants to keep the empire in iraq going, he is a member of CFR...***** dude the list goes on and on. How exactly is he different? oh i know, he is a better liar.
***** all you brainwashed idiots for time and time again falling for whatever dolt is presented to you in the mainstream media and shouting "you're crazy, he'll never have a chance, a vote for him is a wasted vote!" when people actually try to promote politicians who will bring about real, good change to this country. The reason those good politicians never have a chance is because idiots like you are so quick to eat up the bought and paid for candidates the media chooses for you. enjoy your ***** country. - Kikinou, on 07/08/2008, -9/+3quaxon: don't hold your breath. The only way you can get dugg up when talking about Obama is by lining up to suck his dick. No matter what he does, it's noble.

- jbenson2, on 07/07/2008, -37/+27Sounds just another repeat of the Oregon rally where he claimed 75K attendance, when in fact the audience was there to hear the local super star rock band "The Decemberists" (which the media conveniently forgot to mention).
- dinot, on 07/07/2008, -16/+20The 2007 Roskilde Festival drew 80,000 people from 180 bands (among them The Who, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, Björk & Arctic Monkeys).
If you think 75,000 people will show up just to see ONE Pitchforkmedia.com-lovin indie-rock band called "The Decemberists", you need to pull your head out of McCain's shriveled ass and STFU.- masterm1nd, on 07/08/2008, -1/+7Yeah, and it also takes place in Denmark. And the killers and bjork probably scared many away. Apples to oranges my friend. I don't think he's implying no one came to see Obama and everyone came to see the band. Obviously many did go to see the band, and the media did conveniently forget to mention it.

DO YOU SEE THAT ***** BAND ANYWHERE? Or were you suggesting that after the band played, Obama closed all the exits and forced people to stay?
"in fact the audience was there to hear the local super star rock band "The Decemberists"
... that's implying that everyone was there to see the band. And if you really believe that the Decemberists, or ANY indie-rock band, can easily pull a crowd even half that size, you're ***** stupid or biased or both.
Don't argue about this with a guy in a band who actually listens to the Decemberists.
// JULY JULY JULY JULY!
- MrTito, on 07/08/2008, -8/+8You're retarded. Please take your stale talking points back to johnmccain.com and get some new ones.
- artofficial, on 07/08/2008, -7/+6Hey, the Decemberist are ***** awesome. So please, shut the ***** up.
Second, dont affiliate them with any p.o.s. politician, wether they're named Obama or Mccain. - tenaciousdino, on 07/08/2008, -4/+10O RLY? 75,000 people showed up just to see the Decemeberists? They might want to fire their tour manager then, since they typically play 1,000 - 2000 seat venues.
- jabberwolf, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1"O RLY? 75,000 people showed up just to see the Decemeberists? "
Normally NO... But when its a local band and that city is where they are the most popular... and when they had a song that was on the billboard top 200 placing 35th
AND
It was a free concert...
Then YES.
BTW- why did Obama pick a band that opens with the national anthem of the Soviet Union?
- dinot, on 07/07/2008, -16/+20The 2007 Roskilde Festival drew 80,000 people from 180 bands (among them The Who, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, Björk & Arctic Monkeys).

- Dhalsim007, on 07/07/2008, -20/+59In related news ... John McCain announced he'll be giving his acceptance speech at the early-bird special at the local Old Country Buffet. (j/k)
Maybe McCain can get the MetroDome in Minneapolis? It'll be tough to top Obama's concert-like atmosphere. The only thing the GOP can hope for is that the DMB crowd shows up and spoils the imagery.- MrTito, on 07/08/2008, -4/+8I doubt McCain will try to counter Obama's move here. They'd have to pay people to fill out even half of Obama's numbers.
- bmcelrath, on 07/07/2008, -36/+42All style. No substance.
- Cuchanu, on 07/07/2008, -8/+8Clinton thought that if she said that enough people would believe it. Well she was right, that's how she wrapped up the uneducated vote.
There is plenty of boring policy positions available for all to see. Go to his website and take a look.- Kral, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3Boring policy like supporting telecom immunity? What happened to the 'substance' on that one?
- slvrbullet87, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2He doesnt have policies on his website, the issues section of his website is just vague fluff
- Cuchanu, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Kral. I can't defend telecom immunity, I think it sucks. But that is a small example, and he could have thought that the benefits outweighed the drawbacks. But it's not exactly proof that he is all style no substance.
slvrbullet87: you are right I don't know where his papers are I thought I saw them on his website but I checked and am not finding them now.
But my point still stands: Obama being all talk is just a dumb talking point for McCain/Clinton because he is such a good speaker that they have to make it sound like that's all he is. Clinton did get into more specifics in her speeches but you never heard any of it unless you were there cuz it was boring as hell!
McCain's speeches have even less substance than Obama's in my opinion. - sulthernao, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Here it is: http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/ObamaBlueprintForCh ... (warning pdf)

- ryan850, on 07/08/2008, -5/+5how much have you actually read to find the substance. Rallies rarely go into specifics.. I'm guessing you just listen to the sound bites.
I find as much substance with obama as any other politician.- rationalbeats, on 07/08/2008, -9/+8Look at this gem *****,
"Barack Obama’s early education and K-12 plan package costs about $18 billion per year. He will maintain fiscal responsibility and prevent any increase in the deficit by offsetting cuts and revenue sources in other parts of the government. The early education plan will be paid for by delaying the NASA Constellation Program for five years"
***** that! - tidu, on 07/08/2008, -1/+9Education > NASA. sorry, but it's true.
- Blandyman, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6Maybe if our education gets better, we can have more people making decent money, paying more taxes (but less percentage of their salaries,) and the NASA program can get back on track with greater funds and without risking education.
Sorry, but even I, a space enthusiast, think delaying a NASA program for five years is better than leaving kids stupid. I mean, the chances of us finding a material that makes us smarter in those five wasted years are slim to... slim. - Cuchanu, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1rationalbeats: The money has to come from somewhere if we are going to get smart and stop borrowing from the Chinese. Bush is spending more on the war than Obama want's to spend on all of his programs. I'd much rather see the war end so we can have our $.5 trillion/yr go to things like education and renewable energy.
NASA will be OK. After all how else will we fly people into space to blow up asteroids?
- rationalbeats, on 07/08/2008, -9/+8Look at this gem *****,
- csturm, on 07/08/2008, -6/+1Obama is a lier and will be shown to be one like Little Bill.

- Cuchanu, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Obama IS a liar. But Bush is the king liar. McCain is a bad liar. Clinton is a 'mispoken' liar. Regan was a huge liar. I occasionally lie. You do to. Only babies don't lie.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_of_personality
A cult of personality or personality cult arises when a country's leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships but can be found in some democracies as well.- Cuchanu, on 07/07/2008, -7/+5If you think that people being excited about Obama somehow is reminiscent of the Nazi's rise to power you are seriously crazy, thanks for the links to prove it.
Why should we always be feeling like we are choosing not the candidate we like, but the one we dislike the least? I for one am happy to actually be excited about a presidential candidate for once in my life...If that makes me part of a Nazi cult so be it...- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 07/07/2008, -4/+11Are you sure people are excited for the right reasons? ORLY? - Cuchanu, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1For some reason that reminds me of the footage of Bush getting off a helicopter and waving at those two guys who don't wave back. So bush tries another, bigger wave and FAILS, they don't even budge. He should've planted some wavers.

- Christianptriot, on 07/07/2008, -32/+22Interestingly, only those who are affluent in some way or another - connections, money, a friend-of-a-friend - will be able to attend. This exclusive audience is different form the Republicans how...?
And who wants a rock star persona for a president? Whoever ends up in the White House better have his sh#t together and be prepared for th world of politics globally - and have sound, wise advisers - or this may be one of the last free elections we have in the USA.- BaldMonkey, on 07/07/2008, -6/+2Like GWB? - cvelusc, on 07/08/2008, -7/+5You evangelical Christians are whipping yourselves into a frenzy. To be so fanatical that the misdeeds of George are simply overlooked is astonishing. Time for something different.
And no, the right to attend is not given only to those that are "affluent." Might as well drop the 'elitist' comment while you're at it, because you know that's how you view Barack. Time to let us have a crack at the Whitehouse. We're going to take those 'cage lists' and burn them as it's our turn. - fadeout, on 07/08/2008, -3/+5Don't be so down, douchebag! If you want to try and convince people to not vote for him, use issues that really matter and not ones that will just get you laughed at.- SoulGrub, on 07/08/2008, -3/+8Agreed. Oooh, Obama is exciting like a rock star!
Really? Is that because that's what the MSM keeps telling you, er, I mean, Obama's PR people keep telling everyone?
He's pissing off the netroots people who got him the nomination by adopting ideas that more resemble Bush than anyone else; FISA, Faith Based programs, NAFTA, and soon he'll flip flop on troops in Iraq.
Obama has become exactly what he was supposed to be, a marketing tool for the Dems to regain power. Thats all. He is the same as every other politician who runs for president once you take away the immense amount of marketing that surround him.
Why do you think he keeps changing his positions, he is becoming what you want him to be. If he takes every position on every topic, and the media doesn't hold him accountable, he seems suited for any voter. It's crap.
It's time for a third party, if it's the Libertarians, so be it, but enough of this (R)/(D) duality *****.
- SteveMTyler, on 07/07/2008, -10/+4You think McCain will wait until this speech to announce his VP as a way to take some of the news cycle?

- RRJackson, on 07/08/2008, -4/+1I'll defend war contracts. Weapons and defense systems are one of the only large-scale industries we still have in this country. You know, since Clinton NAFTA'd the rest of them bye-bye.

And the liberals are digging you down anyways, just like anything that has any truth in it. - xt0xicx, on 07/08/2008, -1/+4really? because he is against warantless tapping and Bush and Mccain are for it.
- JSolo, on 07/08/2008, -1/+2That is untrue.
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/rosp ...
He called it a compromise, but lets the telcos get away with domestic spying nonetheless. I don't see the change there and sadly nor he or McCain give a crap about our privacy or rights. I see him giving in and accepting a loss, towing the Republican party line and not fighting for any change except the loose change in the wallets of suckers and fools. His change is purely empty rhetoric as he had the chance to fight it right then and instead decided to relent. Why would you want to vote for someone his says one thing and then acts in the complete opposite manner?
- JSolo, on 07/08/2008, -1/+2That is untrue.
- SeveredDigit, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1I used to be for Obama but hes flipping on issues like mad already....(telecom immunity)
Now I'm left with the sad realization that he is just another politician. Be wary America...though he is better then Mccain....he isnt't Jesus,Hendrix and King all rolled into one.
Keep your eye on the prize America!
Your friend,
Canada- sulthernao, on 07/08/2008, -1/+1Good ***** god. He is NOT for telecom immunity. SHEESH. There is a difference between FISA and telecom immunity.
- SeveredDigit, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Barack Obama angered a significant number of his core supporters recently when he threw his support behind a bill that would give the nation's largest phone companies immunity for handing over user phone and Internet data without a warrant.
SO WTF are you talking about again? - SeveredDigit, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1I recommend you to read the old FISA, and the new one.
The new one only adds immunity for warrantless searches on Americans and immunity for telecoms for breaking the constitutional law. Also new powers to the president CIA and the executive branch over senate.

I can not believe I gave this guy money in the first place. If Obama wants to give money to people who promote mysticism, then he needs to revoke their tax exempt status.- sulthernao, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1The money will go to secular programs that benefit the community and only on the condition of non-discrimination in hiring. It is basically reverting the program to how it was under Clinton.
- rationalbeats, on 07/08/2008, -6/+12Exactly!
- Qtip42, on 07/08/2008, -12/+28I wonder if he'll tell everyone how he is supporting the Bush administrations spying efforts by supporting FISA and taking your rights away from you.

- DroogInPhoenix, on 07/08/2008, -16/+9That is the problem, "rock star". When will he address our devalued dollar (Article earlier today stores in NY are taking Euros) when will he address business's going under? When will he address "lost homes" ***** him. He is a good speaker... a speaker is all. I will still vote Ron Paul at least he tells us and has warned us as to how doomed we are unless we make SEVERE changes. So go ahead bury me, so go ahead and vote against me, at least when we are in the streets I know I put my vote into the right person. Just don't tell me "Dont say you told me so." I will.

I've emailed the folks that are running the campaign and of course, they don't respond as I am only one tiny voice in the crowd of millions. And it pains me to think that Obama is in fact for sale to the companies of the world. He is really for change? Because if he was, he would end this crap and start busting telecoms and stop the illegal, warrantless spying on Americans.- DroogInPhoenix, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Should have gone for Ron Paul.

- rb329503, on 07/08/2008, -3/+20Matt Burns, communications director of the Republican National Convention, responded: "Not surprisingly, Senator Obama and his fellow Democrats are more focused on stagecraft and theatrics than providing real solutions to the challenges facing our nation. A change of venue for a political speech isn’t the kind of change the American people deserve or expect."
Just because they make a change in venue doesn't mean there more focused on the shenanigans, what an ass.- AWBoy666, on 07/08/2008, -6/+4Actually, the only changes Obama has accomplished so far are movie back towards being a moderate since he clinched the nomination. So the changing of venue is a pretty big accomplishment for him.
Mr. Burns made quite an eloquent statement.- bjs3171, on 07/08/2008, -2/+4Obama is not moving back towards moderate. i bet you're saying this because of his recent announcement that he may change his Iraq With drawl plan depending on the advice of his commanders in the field, and not necessarily going ahead with his plan to just pull people out every month. so using logical tactical solutions with the help from people actually in the field is comparable to the current conservative strategy of "staying the course"? interesting.
- rb329503, on 07/08/2008, -1/+2movie back towards?? ur about as eloquent as ur bed buddy Mr. Burns
smithers, is that u?
- gamekid, on 07/08/2008, -3/+6I'm gonna disagree with Burns. A President wins not only with solutions and foresight, but with strategy and charisma. A large stadium gathering is the perfect place to tell presidential plans and solutions to a whole bunch of constituents all at once. There's the added bonus of having tens of thousands of people coming home and telling their kids and friends they got to see the candidate in person--potential residual vote gains.
Obama's no perfect cand, or even a great one (don't expect much positive change in the first 100 days--remember Pelosi et al.?), but his foresight to vote against the Iraq War, to speak out against cutting the gas tax, and other things still make him the best major one we have (I'll refrain from talking about Barr and Paul).
As long as McCain keeps supporting Bush's positions on the "new GI Bill" and other legislation, and rejecting Obama's voter-gathering strategies as "theatrics", his only speeches will be the small town hall meetings. He could try to spin it by saying the huge crowds are wrong or unenlightened or something, but unless he offers a lot of positive reasons to vote for him--non-Bush stances, ideally the moderate positions he used to take--he'll be flailing against a big majority, and any McCain win would and should be rejected as a steal.
- AWBoy666, on 07/08/2008, -6/+4Actually, the only changes Obama has accomplished so far are movie back towards being a moderate since he clinched the nomination. So the changing of venue is a pretty big accomplishment for him.

- TexasShiv, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4What a true American... selling your vote. Sweet, you're really sticking it to the man!
- rationalbeats, on 07/08/2008, -12/+4I gave Obama hundreds of dollars during the primary.
How much money did you give him, you apologist?- MrTito, on 07/08/2008, -2/+8Uh, I don't know what I said that makes me an apologist. Nor does the amount of money you give equal your level of support. I mean, *****. That kind of thinking goes right to what is wrong with the fundamentals of the campaign finance system. "I gave more money, therefore I am more special." Anyhow, to answer your question, I've given $110 in two donations. One donation of $35 before my state's primary in February, and $75 after he wrapped up the nomination in early June. Sorry that it's not "hundreds" but it's what I can reasonably afford. Any more questions?
- JSolo, on 07/08/2008, -6/+9I gave Obama money as well and it looks like telcos are doing the same. It's too bad he couldn't just come out and say he is all for changing the size of his wallet. Honesty would make him a more credible candidate rather than lying behind a facade of decency which he clearly lacks if he is going to support FISA.
Seriously, how can you support Obama spying on Americans when so many of us have derided Bush, Cheney, Rove and McCain for supporting such acts? If you support Obama regardless of his stance on domestic spying, then you might as well say that Bush and his cronies were legit folks as well.- MrTito, on 07/08/2008, -0/+10All your previous comments are the same rap trying to pin Obama as a flip-flopper and "how can anyone vote for him?" Kinda like the guy above you. You McCain guys really should coordinate your efforts better. Saturation of a single message makes your trolling obvious.
And if you truly are an Obama supporter, the FISA bill does not block CRIMINAL cases against the telcos, so just wait. And if you can't wait, then it's a shame that you'd flip-flop in your support over a single issue. That you would toss your vote to McCain, or at the least become passive, and allow the continuation of a war that is draining our lives and economy is idiotic at best. There's more on the table than FISA. Yeah, it sucks right now. But I'm not throwing the baby out with the bath water. - quaxon, on 07/08/2008, -6/+3Im as far a mccain supporter as you can get but this guy is right on about obama being a crook. The only ***** difference between the democrats and republicans is that the dems lie better. You guys are fools a for even thinking that someone who gets as much airtime in the mainstream press would be more on the side of the average citizen than the corporations that have already bought him. If you truly wanted a candidate that stood for good, stood for american people you would have supported kucinich to be the nominee.
And i see that you are easily over looking his stance on fisa, i am willing to be you have given him a pass on his aipac speech, various speeches for cfr and pnac, his desire to continue the illegel war in iraq and even spread it to pakistan as well as iran (as soon as israel gives the orders that is), etc. Any way you dice it obama is exactly the same as mccain and anyone who has bought into the hype is a brainwashed idiot. - Kral, on 07/08/2008, -3/+1Obama promised change we can believe in. I believe he changed his promise on FISA. Mission accomplished.
- JSolo, on 07/08/2008, -3/+2I'm not a McCain supporter either. He is just as bad as Obama regarding domestic spying as you're either for it, or against and seeing what is posted on MyObama.com, it's clear that Obama is for it.
I have to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Why? Simple: He said he was for change, for our rights as Americans and then gave in the first chance he had to actually stand up and fight. I'm afraid that he has set an unfortunate precedent - that compromise is better than doing what is right for Americans.
Yes, McCain is entirely worse, which is why I have to vote for someone else or abstain entirely. It sucks, too, as Obama had a chance to stand up and prove himself, but instead sat down and proved something else entirely.
- MrTito, on 07/08/2008, -0/+10All your previous comments are the same rap trying to pin Obama as a flip-flopper and "how can anyone vote for him?" Kinda like the guy above you. You McCain guys really should coordinate your efforts better. Saturation of a single message makes your trolling obvious.
- johndavidjack, on 07/08/2008, -9/+7Well, considering I think McCain's energy and economic policies are light years better, with actual substance, and not fluff, there's a start. Not to mention all of this radical mumbo jumbo Obama has been promising has been just a bunch of crap. His voting records, and impacts he's had in government (or lack of) speak for themselves...
Not to mention I am deathly afraid of who BHO's Supreme Court nominations would be. Our present SC Justices are already having problems upholding the Constitution, so I couldn't imagine the amount of rape of the Constitution with two liberal judges...
Maybe you're all for distribution of wealth, taxes, etc. I'm just a red-blooded American that believes in upholding the Constitution and working hard, not getting handouts and a bunch of empty promises. I can take care of myself, without the help of the government...- alittleroy101, on 07/08/2008, -2/+4Two full paragraphs, and not a single fact reference or specific items to support your assertions?
- MrTito, on 07/08/2008, -0/+5I had a shread of respect for you when you started out talking policy. But, like McCain's chances of winning, that didn't last long. I don't buy into the doublespeak of "redistribution of wealth" (I guess that's what you meant, though you said distribution and that doesn't make much sense because wealth is already distributed, but I digress). You conclude by creating a false assumption of me (maybe even a strawman) by inadvertently saying that you're a hard working America not looking for a handout, as though I am not hard working and looking for a handout. I'm a 29 year old unmarried white guy with no kids who works his ass off 50 hours a week, five days a week. And yet, I support Obama. I know you probably can't grasp that since you have to categorize and stereotype things so your world view make sense, but it is what it is.
As far as Supreme Court justices who rape the Constitution, they've already been doing that. It started back in 2000 when they handed the presidency to Bush. - Kral, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4Those awful liberals, always giving us rights. Who do they think they are?
- SpinningHead, on 07/08/2008, -0/+5Oh, yes. McCain has some brilliant economic ideas to get us out of the current mess. I see on his web page that corporate tax breaks cure what ails us. What a novel idea. Hes clearly much different from Bush.
You don't need help from the government? I assume you built all those roads you use to commute to work on.Since you clearly don't need your tax dollars back in your community, I'm sure theres some oil men who would gladly accept the handout. - johndavidjack, on 07/08/2008, -1/+1@MrTito
Good call on the "distribution" bit, my bad. You see, most hard working people aren't looking for handouts, and for the most part DON'T get them. I'm talking about a percentage of the population that DON'T work hard, and are going to get them; more of them, and from my monety.
I'm sorry, I've read Obama's issues page, in fact I have it bookmarked. The extension of all of the social programs, healthcare plan (albeit only kids are free) and some of his proposed foreign aid ideas are ultimately going to come down to the taxpayer. If you can explain were all of the money for these social programs is going to come, I'm all ears.
Energy policy...Obama's is anything but "change we can believe in". Ethanol, going green, carbon taxing, end tax breaks for big oil, etc. What a joke. Ethanol has proven to be unsustainable and inefficient at the moment. How does causing oil companies (who make about 8-10% return on their investment) LOWER prices for the rest of America? I understand McCain shares some view similar with Obama on energy, but I haven't heard Obama mention nuclear power, increased oil drilling, caps on oil speculation, etc. I'm sorry, but I truly believe McCain's energy policy is easily better.
With all of Obama's recent decisions with Iraq, the telecom bills, and his lack of "change" while in the Senate, I don't see him add up to being anything more than a lapdog. By the way, just because the Bush Administration rapes the Constitution, it's all right for the Democrats to do so also?
Just because I know a lot about McCain, doesn't mean I'm voting for him.
@spinninghead
Please don't confuse road/infrastructure, etc with "handouts". I am not for eliminating taxes all-together, and I never said that. You know what I was getting at, so your comment was un-necessary.

3. STOP EARMARKS... I hate how politicians will take a bill like, Money for starving widowed mothers, and then attach 100k here for a computer company that produces nothing, or 1m to build a park in their district, or 10m to throw a party. - 2600dblzero, on 07/08/2008, -11/+5I always look at these things with suspicion. Moving from the confines of the convention center to a football stadium has security nightmare written all over it. It will be funny to watch the herds of sheep funneling into the stadium to watch their shepherd messiah while being searched by para-military personnel with automatic weapons. The messiah will get up an deliver a sermon that the disciples so badly need to hear. I have come to save you......just have hope! The odds go up from what 19,000 to 75,000 chances to hit your target. I wonder how much extra money this will entail? Movement to a new venue, increased security detail. Don't know about you but I would prefer a real leader instead of some arena-rock wanna-be who will get a hard on with all his screaming sheep....I mean fans. Sad state of affairs this country is in.......were teetering on the edge of the abyss and this is what our so-called people who want our vote can come up with. And McCain is not the answer either. I still say October surprise is Iran and no elections.
- gofalcons, on 07/08/2008, -1/+5My god I'm so tired of people calling other people sheep. Do you live in a society with rules and laws? Do you wear mass produced clothing? - nickymouse, on 07/08/2008, -10/+6I haven't seen any Obama Flip Flop news on Digg yet. It seems like ever since he got the nomination he's been swinging right on gun rights, abortion, the war an iraq and etc. Still I don't think he'll lose his core ground no matter what... because people thinking he's Jesus Christ.
YES MCCAIN IS A FLIP FLOPPER TO.- Barackalypse, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Swinging right on gun rights? Thats funny, I didn't see his name on the list of 55 Senators and 250 Representatives opposing the DC handgun ban in a brief filed in the landmark Heller versus DC Supreme Court case. I guess he doesn't think people have a right to own handguns. How exactly that represents anything than a far left position is beyond me, and apparently over half of Congress agrees.

- AWBoy666, on 07/08/2008, -13/+9Hitler spoke to filled stadiums too. Doesn't mean anything other than he's a little pompous since he can't just give a normal speech like everyone else ever has.
- alittleroy101, on 07/08/2008, -4/+3You guys are comically stupid.
- HencheMann, on 07/08/2008, -6/+17My fellow Americans, YOU ARE THE CHANGE, not Obama.
- goleopards1, on 07/08/2008, -2/+3Latching on to anyone that promises to help you, make you feel better, and has catchy slogans which gives you an inflated sense of superiority that you can put on car bumpers and t-shirts. All the while not holding that person accountable when he/she go against promises and betrays core beliefs...yep, American voters certainly have changed.
- Barackalypse, on 07/08/2008, -3/+2Either way, we're screwed.
- dejay181, on 07/08/2008, -2/+0you are right.....but unfortunately ....americans dont think this way no more. we are a post industrial society now, we dont need to work hard or think anymore
- yellowcakewalk, on 07/08/2008, -13/+26It strikes me that the most vocal Obama supporters do not know his position on
1) the PATRIOT act
2) Iraq
3) AIPAC
4) FISA
5) Impeachment and prosecution of Bush, Cheney, Rice, etc
Obama is not a liberal, and is certainly not a leftist. He's just another right-wing Democrat that will do as told by AIPAC and the corporations. Think Pelosi, Reed, that whole useless crowd.- yellowcakewalk, on 07/08/2008, -8/+15Seriously, it's just vapid cheerleading. "Change! Change! Change!" It sounds like a bunch of panhandlers. Obama, now that he's milked all the hopeful grandmas and teenagers and young couples out of their $20 or $30, must answer to his masters who will be paying $10,000 a plate at the fundraisers. Guess what? People who have $10,000 to pay at a fundraiser don't give a ***** about people who scrape up $20 or $30 for a candidate.
- Ryan32, on 07/08/2008, -5/+7I was looking for the first legit comment in this article, and you sir are it.
What i find funny about 99% of Obama supporters, is that 99% of them don't know the first thing about their candidate. They have jumped on a bandwagon of popularity and thats it.
I'll be voting opposite of Obama not because i think McCain is great, but because i think he'll ride out his 4 years without jumping off the deep end..... Obama wants to strip my rights, whether it's the 2nd amendment or telecom immunity, this arrogant prick wants to strip rights I fought for, and he hasn't done a single thing to support this country.
So all in all, i'll vote the least of 2 evil's if it means I get to retain the rights that so many Americans have given their lives to protect.
- Hawk2007, on 07/08/2008, -16/+19***** Obama.
- gofalcons, on 07/08/2008, -9/+16The honeymoon phase is coming to an end, enjoy the blank slate Obama while you still have him. Soon enough you'll realize he's no different than the other republicrats. The only hope for real change in America could only come after the two party system was destroyed.
- pjtKSU, on 07/08/2008, -8/+3Genius.
- HencheMann, on 07/08/2008, -3/+1...you are right. A subtle reaching out to middle America by mild association to FOOTBALL! Believe me, if there was a NASCAR track that could hold 75K...
- the0ther, on 07/08/2008, -20/+17what a *****. it should be about issues and not image.
- Hawk2007, on 07/08/2008, -5/+8such a simple statement, but so true.
- brad3378, on 07/08/2008, -2/+5I can't say I didn't try to get the Obamabots to read about their candidate's flawed platform
http://digg.com/political_opinion/Obama_s_Blueprin ...
I swear I must have pasted this link in 50 different stories, but I couldn't even promote it beyond 300 diggs.
The truth is that Obama supporters just don't care enough to spend a few minutes reading. - MrTito, on 07/08/2008, -3/+4Yeah, let's take political advice from a sage that starts his comment with "what a *****". Just the fact that you are getting dugg up (+6 right now) scares me. Go back to your ***** cave, please.
