Palin's Commander in Chief Claim Bogus
huffingtonpost.com — Passed by the Congress and signed by the president more than a month before Palin took office in December 2006, critics on both sides of the aisle deemed it a federal power grab

When will the talking heads of this campaign RESEARCH anything? - parkerparrot, on 09/03/2008, -9/+19I'd keep a list of the lies and scandals, but my hard drive isn't big enough. Every single time they claim she has some experience, it's only 3 hours before the truth surfaces. Enough. Go home Sarah. Come back to the national political scene when you can actually stand up and face the media at a press conference.
- alsiddiq, on 09/04/2008, -6/+3it's either Raising McCain or Obama bin Biden
- NeptuneZen, on 09/04/2008, -5/+1Uh, wtf? What truth? So the president had expanded power over the national guard... so what? It doesn't take away the fact that she was still in charge of the national guard. This article is stupid. How can you guys seriously use stuff like this to bash Palin? Can't you find something real to bitch about?

- LKnight, on 09/03/2008, -9/+20The more we learn the less it seems we know... and she got introduced as Sarah Pawlenty, so it seems even the GOP stalwarts had no idea who she was.

Not that I care for Palin, but honestly, the lady keeps talking out her ass.- boot20, on 09/04/2008, -0/+1Wow...Go Go Digg Conservative Machine!
- reverland, on 09/04/2008, -5/+12You're right, she isn't Hitler, but she isn't just any person, she is running as VP for a 72 year old man. While that doesn't mean he'll drop tomorrow, he has had skin cancer 3 times, so it's a legitimate concern for us.
Considering this country voted George W in for 2 terms a lot of us are concerned. So you'll excuse us if we digg stories that point her inexperience out as well as point out that things she is touting as experience are merely titles that actually didn't give her any experience. McCain's vetting process should have found these items and he should never have introduced us to her. We were all fine with her being in charge of under a million people and that's where it should stay. - iofthestorm, on 09/04/2008, -3/+5Digg needs keyword blocking or keyword weighting so I can say that things with Palin in them have 1/4 the diggs they actually do, or something like that. I wouldn't mind seeing really important stuff about Palin, but *****, there's so much of this ***** on the front page it's ridiculous.
- ImIce, on 09/04/2008, -1/+5Just ignore them - all this vitriol will seem friendly compared to the howling that will begin on 5 November. If they don't get their way, somebody stole it. If they disagree with somebody's policy, that person is a nazi or a murderer, or both. Liberal, my ass. It's the fascist left, and even then only with everyone else's money. So, they'll attack Palin until it's clear that hasn't borne fruit, then they'll move on to the next thing that isn't voting, either.
- enantiodromia, on 09/04/2008, -4/+5Digg is not "really Liberal"; the sample set is way too small to make declarative statements such as this.
you are just seeing the reaction of thousands of people when an extreme Right political theory is applied with constant pressure for 8 years straight with absolutely zero apologies and total hubris.
what people tend to forget is that these web 2.0 sites weren't even created until Bush was already in office, so of course they will seem "extremely Liberal" at this point, because Mr. Bush has pissed off a lot of people.
the truth is, assuming that 100% of the Diggers who hate Bush will love Obama is completely false, as is assuming all Republicans will hate Obama. this is an overly simplistic way of looking at things, which rarely if ever reflects reality when looking back. it sounds good on TV and on the Net however, it gets people fired up and pissed off enough to register accounts and type long winded comments (such as this one), and that is good for business when you are selling ads on your web page or prime time TV show.
what do you think these comment pages would have looked like 10 years ago, or 20, or 50?
you will see the pendulum swing the other way once a Democrat is in office, i promise.- dysfunction, on 09/04/2008, -1/+2Dugg for common sense.
- pinchduck, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2You are right. Not only is all the vitriol generating a sympathetic backlash, but let's face it: She could kick most anyone's ass on Digg. Go ahead. Dare her to a survivalist contest in the wilds of Alaska.

- ElAmo, on 09/04/2008, -14/+9Bury me if you hate Huffington Post. And while your at it, just go ahead and bury this story.
PS, I hate Cheney, but I also do hate this ***** blog.- elister, on 09/04/2008, -2/+2I agree with you 100%. But the vultures are circling and it isn't even October. There's so much drama, it hasn't even been a week, its bound to get funnier. Watching the pundits scream loudly about her experience, only to have half assed blogs like huffington post tear those arguments to pieces is truly worth toasting for.
Cheers!- ImIce, on 09/04/2008, -0/+1Wait...who screamed?!

- RRJackson, on 09/04/2008, -20/+14More of the HuffPo smear machine. The Left are truly terrified. Probably the first time any of them have actually seen a real American before.
- vexingmodstwo, on 09/04/2008, -6/+8I've been thinking about this and I think you've nailed it. They're scared of real Americans.
- domiciliphile, on 09/04/2008, -1/+1ok, vex and RR, here's an idea: instead of buying into red v. blue, us v. them absolutist mentality, consider the possibility that there are liberals, progressives, democrats and activists in the south, in the country, in suburbs, backwoods, and towns of populations less than 7,000 because, you know what? - that's the Reality. I for one come from a large family, and I'm sure with every one of my relatives there is a political, cultural, and religious belief that I both differ and agree with them on. all of us are ["real"] Americans (wtf is a "fake" american?), and no one's shaking in their boots over the other.
are there legitimate criticisms of Palin? yeah, there are. Sorry, I know you feel like you gotta support "your guy" - and now the conservative cheerleader he picked - scratch that - that was picked for him, but dismissing her faults as merely liberal elitism is not only a dirty trick, but dishonest as well.

- 471776, on 09/04/2008, -5/+3Damn right I'm terrified. If McCain is elected, and then the 72 year old 4-time cancer survivor is medically incapacitated, she becomes president. She absolutely is not ready for that job, both because of her extreme ideology which she wishes to impose upon others, and because she has no experience at the national level.
- vexingmodstwo, on 09/04/2008, -1/+6You've bought the Huffpo lies.
As governor she NEVER pushed her "extreme ideology" and even vetoed bills that would have been in line with her ideology. - 471776, on 09/04/2008, -1/+2She's a proponent of abstinence-only education and no government funding for contraceptives. She thinks that creationism should be taught in science classes. She's under investigation for blackmailing state employees who were not loyal enough to her. She tried to censor the books available at Wasilla Public Library when she was mayor there.
I think it's safe to assume that she would want to push her agenda as president. Tax money spent on religious groups, religion-based education policies, overturning Roe vs. Wade...the whole point of being president is to push an agenda based on how you think the country should be run. Her agenda is based on extreme right-wing and christian values.

- geneikillua, on 09/04/2008, -6/+6The article linked does not support the title. It merely said that for a good portion of time, Palin's control over the Alaskan National Guard was less than it was after 1/2008. This makes her claim bogus? Inaccurate.

- Dumbledorito, on 09/04/2008, -4/+8Why all the surprise that Palin is being highlighted on Digg? She's speaking tonight at the GOP convention, she's been picked to be the VP of a candidate who, if elected, could very well not survive his first term just due to old age, and it's an election year.
I fully expect even more McCain stories tomorrow as his acceptance speech approaches. Get over it, or just click not to view political stories.- ImIce, on 09/04/2008, -0/+1It's not surprise, it's disgust over the foaming mouths and personal attacks. These aren't discussion about the issues, they're just biased rants. On the positive side, diggers' true colors are really showing, right?
- jamartinjr, on 09/04/2008, -5/+5She's a fraud.
- newms32, on 09/04/2008, -5/+4Buried for inaccuracy. The title, "Palin's "Commander In Chief" Position Stripped By Bush," is false, as shown by the very same article. The act gave Bush the power to use the state's national guard if he deemed it necessary. Other than that exception, Palin was the same commander-in-chief that she was before. Whether or not that position was meaningful experience is another debate, but the act didn't infringe upon her duties as the article wants to believe.
There's an enormous number of valid things to criticize about Palin, why the ***** would ***** decide that distortions are necessary to get their point across? And people wonder why liberal blogs aren't taken seriously when something important comes up. - richirwin, on 09/04/2008, -7/+6The McCain Bury Brigade is out in force tonight!
***** FIRST, bitches. - Grabarear, on 09/04/2008, -5/+2She will deflect all criticism the same way McCain does... she was a POW for years held captive by Eskimos! Everybody panic!

- Grabarear, on 09/04/2008, -4/+1Who cares if she was "commander in chief" of the mighty Alaskan National Guard.
How large could their National Guard be? Alaska has a tiny population.
I would wager that the New York City Police Commissioner has a force that is at least as large, and no one would brag about that as experience of being "commander in chief".
Wait are we electing McCain as Prez or Palin? McCain has not a shred of commander experience. He was a fighter pilot that is until he he got shot down.- vexingmodstwo, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2You don't know much about fighter pilots, huh?
- shiftclick, on 09/04/2008, -3/+5Now this is just funny.
The Presidential election was too close to call. Neither the Republican candidate nor the Democratic candidate had enough votes to win.. There was much talk about ballot recounting, court challenges, etc., but a week-long ice fishing competition seemed the sportsmanlike way to settle things. The candidate that caught the most fish at the end of the week would win the election.
Therefore, it was decided that there should be an ice fishing contest between the two candidates to determine the winner.
After much of back and forth discussion, it was decided that the contest take place on a remote frozen lake in northern Minnesota.
There were to be no observers present, and both men were to be sent out separately on this isolated lake and return at 5 P.M. with their catch for counting and verification by a team of neutral parties. At the end of the fi rst day, John Mc. returned to the starting line and he had ten fish.
Soon, Obama returned and had no fish. Well, everyone assumed he was just having another 'bad hair' day or something and hopefully, he would catch up the next day.
At the end of the 2nd day John Mc. came in with 20 fish and Obama came in again with none.
That evening, Harry Reid got together secretly with Obama and said, 'Obama, I think John Mc. is a low-life, cheatin' son-of-a-gun. I want you to go out tomorrow and don't even bother with fishing. Just spy on him and see just how he is cheating.'
The next night (after John Mc. returns with 50 fish),Harry Reid said to Obama, 'Well, tell me, how is John Mc. cheating?'
Obama replied, 'Harry, you're not going to believe this, but he's cutting holes in the ice.'
The Pied Piper has suckered all you retards. For shame, for shame. - scurvydog00, on 09/04/2008, -4/+4I'm burying every Palin post as inaccurate without even bothering to check if it is or not.
