Palin's Favorability Drops To -10 In Tracking Poll
dailykos.com — A new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows 46% of people who watched Friday night's presidential debate say Democrat Barack Obama did a better job than Republican John McCain; 34% said McCain did better. Obama scored even better -- 52%-35% -- when debate-watchers were asked which candidate offered the best proposals for change to solve the country’s

- Chode2235, on 09/28/2008, -2/+107Well. It was fun while it lasted, right? This restores some sense of my faith in the American people to see through the cheap trick that was/is Palin's selection as VP.
She is a bad caricature of all that is wrong with the republican party and conservative ideology.- Dejacque, on 09/29/2008, -8/+13The Republican Party has deviated so far from conservatism that it's almost as liberal as the Democratic Party. Just look at the proposed bailout plan: it's basically socialism, but geared more towards the corporations and CEOs instead of the proletariat. Sarah Palin is a bad caricature of those who have hijacked the Republican Party: the theocrats and imperialists who play to the social conservatives and ignore the fiscal conservatives.
- tkstock, on 09/29/2008, -6/+2The proposed bailout plan was put forth by Bush (hardly a traditional Republican) and had more backing from the Democrats than the Republicans. Supposedly, everyone was on-board with the deal except for the House Republicans who forced some provisions in there to protect the taxpayers more. Supposedly there is little risk to the taxpayer monies. Supposedly.
Don't think this bailout plan was a Republican plan. Far from it. It's privatized profit with socialized risk - very antethetical to free-market capitalism, where companies should be allowed to fail on their own merits or lack thereof.
I agree that some of us fiscally conservative Republicans have gotten the short-end of the stick lately. Whoever is elected, I hope they keep their promises of spending cuts and more spending cuts. - mvlazysusan, on 09/29/2008, -8/+1smoke and merer

- zooplibob, on 09/29/2008, -15/+1Sorry, but anything from dailykos immediately loses any credibility after that Palin daughter/granddaughter embarrassment. Especially polling of their own they do, which this article is based on.
But if you enjoy it, go ahead and believe their lies. You're only fooling yourselves.- radioactivekt81, on 09/29/2008, -7/+1Even liberals have to agree that dailykos is amazingly biased towards the left, so I agree. They are as irrelevant to me as Fox New, for the same reason (but on the other side).
Who is doing actual reporting these days? Anyone? - DrDigg, on 09/29/2008, -0/+16This is polling done by a separate company paid to do the poll. It's not actually done by Kos. You obviously never believed in anything you read on Kos and are trying to use the pregnancy stuff as an excuse.

Like maiku00 said; most of us knew this is what they're into within the first couple days of Palin's entrance into the race. The fact that it has taken not just the Charlie Gibson interview but also the Katie Couric one for people to see her for who she is isn't reassuring at all.

- DrDigg, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2Was it painful??
- tkstock, on 09/29/2008, -2/+130+ questions later, not too bad. I was surprised how in-depth they go with some of the questions. I wish I could remember which company they were polling for - it wasn't one I was familiar with.
- DrDigg, on 09/29/2008, -1/+7Although they don't release their polling questions they link their data which is done by a separate polling company which are paid to do the poll.
"The Daily Kos tracking poll is conducted by the experienced and professional pollsters at Research 2000, and like all media polls, are not influenced by the sponsor. It’s not a liberal poll or a conservative poll, it’s a poll – a snapshot over a three-day period."

- Catawungus, on 09/29/2008, -1/+0Perhaps there should be a site with the questions on it. However, the polling questions often take about 8 pages. Pretty dull stuff. But be nice to see how they 'frame' questions and in what order.

- pimpofpixels, on 09/29/2008, -3/+17Palin was a Hail Mary: a reckless appeal to women voters at a time when the McCain campaign was trailing steadily in the polls. At first it seemed like it would work.
The problem is... they dropped the ball.
Palin has become an unmitigated disaster. Whenever they let her talk she makes a fool of herself. Now they won't let her speak which makes them all look bad and disenfranchises the same women voters they were so desperately trying to gain.
On Thursday Palin is going to have to go up against Biden in the Vice-presidential debate, and it's going to be a determined whack on the nail in the McCain campaign's coffin.- BossKey, on 09/29/2008, -1/+6"Dropped the ball" is a good analogy, but it could also be said that they wanted to throw a Hail Mary at a football game and they did it with a basketball.
- HumanNouveau, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4OK, but you're using "disenfranchise" incorrectly. I think you mean "...alienates the same women voters..."
Disenfranchise means denying someone a vote. Important distinction this election season. People will be disenfanchised if voting systems fail, or legitimate voters are screened out incorrectly by local watchdog groups.
I raise the point because it is extremely important to make sure that we all watch our local polling processes to make sure that every legitimate voter gets to vote.
Meanwhile, let's hope the GOP stays the course and alienates as many of those voters as possible.- troub, on 09/29/2008, -0/+3or "disenchant."

- Catawungus, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1It is not that common. Wow! I guess that makes her a 'maverick'? BTW, mavericks were considered the 'morons of the cow herds' because they lacked common sense. It was never a 'compliment'. Then again, only a real maverick would think it was.
- rexdude, on 09/29/2008, -4/+7What's the use of these polls? I'm scared this might turn out to be 2004 all over again. Back then-all the exit polls had you believe Bush's time was up. In the end-it was the bible belt that let everybody down by re electing Bush. Given the smear campaigns against Obama, including spreading lies about him being a Muslim-there's no telling how things will turn out.
One thing is for sure-if McCain wins, everyone's screwed.
It would be something if an exit poll taken in the 'red' states showed declining support for McCain/Palin.- Catawungus, on 09/29/2008, -0/+22000 and 2004 the vote was rigged. They are doing the same thing again. They are demanding, via the justice dept, that the voter rolls be 'purged'. Which means people will show up to vote and be told they were not entitled to, and that they could fill out a provisional ballot, which then takes up a big amount of time, and prevents people in the line from being able to vote. Tactics of the damned. They are doing it again, btw.

- theone156, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4I agree, I dont like her at all, but counting her out is wrong. I think the people who are counting her out will be surprised by what she can do on Thursday....the bar is set very low for her, if she can put together an insult and make it sound decent she will do better than 95% of people think she can...so don't count her out because it will come back to hurt you...expect more from her...
- laserdog, on 09/29/2008, -1/+17Tina Fey drank her milk shake.
- worldgate, on 09/29/2008, -2/+1And ate her burger with fries too.
- T8erT0T, on 09/29/2008, -1/+10I can't wait for Joe Biden to tear her apart in the debate. Oct 2nd will be the coup degrace to Palin.
- rondeth, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1It's true Biden has a habit of sticking his foot in his mouth, though. Remember Palin's speech at the RNC? Bitter in tone and attacking at many points. I think that's going to be the Repub strategy here--they know Palin's widely regarded as a bloody nightmare. So, instead of sitting back and letting her try to answer questions or speak thoughtfully, she'll essentially come out there and start spouting off and attacking relentlessly--let Biden expend all his energy refuting the doubtless inaccuracies (or flat-out lies) and (hopefully) he messes up.
FWIW, I'm hoping she continues her performances from the interviews. If only I can withstand her voice for the duration of the debate...

- simon333, on 09/29/2008, -0/+8Ladies and gentlemen, that strange feeling you've been having lately is called hope. "01-20-09"
- abran1984, on 09/29/2008, -0/+9Republicans, moms of special needs children and right-wingers love her. Don't count her out yet!
- AmazingSteve, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2There is nowhere NEAR enough of them to affect a vote that's going to be this lopsided. After the Couric interview there is nothing that will save Palin's image now. Nothing,
- algaeturd, on 09/29/2008, -4/+8HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
OMFG!!!! HAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHA
And the idiot republicans of Digg are the only people left trying to defend this uneducated, unqualified idiot.
Wait...one more time. I can't get enough. NEGATIVE TEN? NEGATIVE TEN?!!!!
HAAHAHHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAH
Wait, wait...here comes PUTIN'S head up over the Alaskan landscape! Here he comes...it's just a giant head! Arrgga!
hahahahah- benbfree, on 09/29/2008, -7/+1You're going to regret this comment one day.
- gnocchi1442, on 09/29/2008, -2/+1Oohh -- I'm scared! How 'bout you, algae?
- AmazingSteve, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2That's cute, he thinks she's actually electable.
- benbfree, on 09/29/2008, -7/+1You're going to regret this comment one day.
- RichiesPicks, on 09/29/2008, -0/+16The reality is that hardcore Republicans loved Palin (for her brief honeymoon period) because they perceived her as the key to McSame and other GOP candidates winning in November. Now that she has been revealed as a joke and a weight on the rapidly sinking Republican brand, they are turning on her and cursing Bottom of the Class McCain for (once again) not doing his homework.
- theone156, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2Don't count her out yet, people don't expect much from her so when she does something which would be nothing for everyone else it will be considered a feat for her.
- novenator, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2when expectations are so low, she really doesn't need to perform well to do "ok" in the publics eyes. It was the same thing with king george during his debates, everyone thought he was a bumbling fool, so when he didn't to terrible (only bad), the performance looked good by comparison. Hopefully, people will finally recognize her ignorance instead of being fooled by her hockey mom charm.
- MxM111, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1Let's be clear "we" do not have high expectation. My bet is that most people did not see those interviews.
- topgigmedia, on 09/29/2008, -1/+5"...I will have to get back to ya..." dipsh*t. Sorry, but that was a complete dipsh*t response. WAKE UP AMERICA! -10?!? how about -100!
- Lloydinator, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4That took way too long to reach there.
- talmand, on 09/29/2008, -12/+3Wow, a tracking poll from the DailyKos that shows the liberal is the favorite?
Give me some money and I'll provide for you a professional tracking poll that says whatever you want it to say.
The only poll that should count in the end is the one where everyone votes for their choice for President. And even then with enough money it can be manipulated to a certain extent. All it takes is a few percentages here and there.- FairNUnBalanced, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4Um...
and the Rasmussen poll,
and the Gallup poll,
and the Zogby poll,
and the Survey USA poll,
and the Research 2000 poll,
and the National Journal poll,
and the NBC / Wall Street Journal poll,
and the CNN Time Poll,
and the Fox News Poll.
Damn, look at this conspiracy! Those bastards have corrupted Fox News now too!
- FairNUnBalanced, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4Um...
- jordan314, on 09/29/2008, -3/+1To -10? I don't think that word means what you think it means.
- mikecap, on 09/29/2008, -1/+13Palin dropped because she was an imbecile with Katie Couric.
- HumanNouveau, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1Correction. You needed a full stop after imbecile. Every unscripted appearance so far has had the same result. You could chalk up one botched interview to nerves. Two and then three start to form a pattern.
- trollick, on 09/29/2008, -3/+2FREE SARAH PALIN!
- RodBorn, on 09/29/2008, -1/+0naw...not sure I would want her now even if she was free.
- gnocchi1442, on 09/29/2008, -2/+7Cool, it matches her IQ.
- BrendanSheehan, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4She thinks the Bush Doctrine is a type of plant which people used to feed to dinosaurs.
- HumanNouveau, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1Why would she support the Bush Doctrine anyway? If Putin or a couple nukes come over the horizon, let's all just join hands across the borders of God's chosen nation and pray. If you believe the Bible, God's got a great track record on miraculous battlefield inventions. The fables make him a great weapon whether you're on the offensive or the defensive. LOL
- noprtyaff, on 09/29/2008, -7/+1I suggest that members of congress and if none can be found, new members of congress form a loyal opposition caucus designed especially to reject everything put forward by the next president. Because whether it is the Obama messiah or the moderate McCain who is elected, neither with their leftist tendencies have the best interest of U.S. citizens at heart.
- FairNUnBalanced, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1Right. So, objectively speaking. Either the entire world has some kind of mass delusional "leftist" psychosis OR... you are just an extremist.
- Shakermaker, on 09/29/2008, -0/+5I am SOOOO looking forward to the VP debate on Thursday. It should be a slaughter if Biden plays his cards right.
- eddantes7, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2Somewhere far far away hidden under layers and layers of rock.... Cheney is feeling just a little bit better about himself...
- ssmith39, on 09/29/2008, -0/+0I'm not a Sarah Palin fan, but I won't be surprised if she turns in a respectable performance in the debate. Fear is a powerful motivator.
- acknotSW, on 09/29/2008, -0/+0Sorry, but no chance in hell. Pentecostals (as in assembly of god church) are so fundamental that there isn't enough space in their head for an ounce of intelligence; it's all filled up with Jesus. Pentecostals are so out there that your more mainstream hard core evangelicals make fun of them. I would sooner trust Iraq (pre war) or Iran with nuclear weapons then this nut case.
- Nathan187, on 09/29/2008, -0/+0I think she's going to do a lot better than people think on Thursday. But still....I don't think she's qualified. (Still hot though)
- VahalaORbust, on 09/29/2008, -0/+0It's showing the percent change in 1 week, not her totally approval. God damn tools
- roofview, on 09/29/2008, -0/+0I think in the debate with Joe Biden, Sarah Palin will do better than most people think. She will spit out the lines they pound into her head at debate camp. Now here is where it gets interesting, truly understanding what you are saying and saying it with believable conviction it the hard part. It is possible for a smart person to pull this off unfortunately for the McCain camp Sarah Palin is not smart. I believe the rehearsed rhetoric will come through loud and clear. PS watch for bulges etc in clothing concealing hidden wires. Nothing this campaign would do will surprise me.
- ObamAmerican48, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1In stark contrast, Todd Palin's favorability rating has skyrocketed as middle-aged American women determine he is TOTALLY doable.
