- blorc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Wow, what an ***** thing for Thompson to say. I don't think they should make it into a racial thing, though. I think they should just focus on the fact that Romney, Giuliani, and Thompson have made it apparent they're not interested in attending the "insignificant" debates.
- troprocker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"***** thing"? Where the hell did you get that? He said he wouldn't attend if the other top tier candidates aren't there. He'd be crazy if he did. Did they make some idiotic law that says candidates have to attend every meaningless debate?
- bjkrautk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Has any Republican Presidential candidate won in Maryland since Reagan in '84? While I see the moderator's point about outreach....it's a bad place to have a Primary Debate, if you want Republicans to attend. Put the same event in Ohio....and I daresay all the major contenders would be there.
That being said, I love that PBS is trying to shame candidates into attending; the Republican debates thusfar have really been interesting....and not something that a contender should look to shy away from.
