RALPH NADER: "I think the 2 parties are hurting our country and they need more competition."

and Green Party / Nader supporters to "steal" Democratic votes.- heymisspenny, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Libertarians aren't on the right or the left. That's a stigma we need to get through to more people. Politics is NOT a left or right turn: http://www.theadvocates.org/quizp/index.html
Although the LP iteself is more of a minarchist, pro-capitalism leaning party (in reality Libertarians may lean either way when it comes down to the right to property, and the anarcho- types will ascribe to the beliefs but not to the party for obvious reasons), the essence of libertarianism, even that embodied by the LP appeals to both the "left" and "right".
And like I said before, the rest is all purple these days anyway.
Who says no to social freedom and being able to hold onto their hard earned money? You CAN have your cake and eat it too!!

- roosevans, on 07/02/2008, -1/+8With Ron Paul working to reform the Republican party from within and Bob Barr working to make the Libertarian Party a viable third party, libertarian principles can take root in American government, in my opinion.
- heymisspenny, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2Take root. Funny. They ARE the root. Many of us have just forgotten our roots :-/
And reforming from the inside is just as critical as legitemizing the Party itself. I tend to agree with those that see it is a bigger success to see our principles adopted by others, no matter the party (a rose by any other name, right?) then to just beat the other guys outright. In some ways, doing so opens the door to bring our party to the forefront in the end: we're priming the pump I guess you could say.
I digg :)

- mejaredme, on 07/02/2008, -1/+3Hopefully they will.
- whataboutdave, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Ron Paul had it right. The GOP needs to be reformed from within, not from without.
I think Barr is a good guy with good intentions, but he needs to read up on Duverger's law like Dr. Paul has.
