Er, sorry. Needs more donors.
Also: funny!- S7aind, on 07/17/2008, -0/+19I live in Kansas.
He has my vote. - humanerror, on 07/17/2008, -0/+47Damnit digg.
I clicked a link to a webcomic and ended up sending $8.43 to a politician in Kansas.
HOW DO THESE THINGS HAPPEN - rz8472, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2No unintentionally hilarious comment from Stevanoski yet?
- BoneheadFarker, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1It would be funny, if it weren't true and so very sadly necessary...
- S7aind, on 07/17/2008, -0/+19I live in Kansas.
- ploke, on 07/16/2008, -2/+118This could really use front page treatment.
- cgranade, on 07/16/2008, -2/+10I dugg. I want it there. Being posted on BoingBoing will help.
- Tex, on 07/28/2008, -2/+4At 273 diggs it's been dugg more times than the 6 most recent stories on the front page, but still no promotion. :(
- Tex, on 07/28/2008, -0/+3* 8 most recent.
- Tex, on 07/28/2008, -0/+4* 11 most recent.
- Tex, on 07/28/2008, -1/+5I got tired of counting how many stories're hitting the front page with 40-100 diggs while this one gets left behind. Needless to say it'll suck beyond all belief if this doesn't make it with over 300 diggs.
- Zarokima, on 07/17/2008, -0/+10Well it's here now!
I almost wish I lived in Kansas just so I could vote for you, but at least you can still take my money!
- slythfox, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3My god, it took forever! It had 300 some at least before promoted.
- hypodermia, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1i dugg. i'm literally too poor to give a donation (homeless and 43 cents in the bank), but i can still digg so others will give.
- skeejay, on 07/16/2008, -2/+52This could potentially blow some MSM minds more than usual.
- rz8472, on 07/17/2008, -0/+12They were already intimidated by and showed how uncool they were when Obama did that fist-bump. Imagine the reaction over this webcomic...
FOX News: A type of candy, an internet celebrity, a... terrorist codename? The 'verbal rickroll' that everyone is talking about.... - dpdawson, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Hopefully this is the beginning of a trend. All I see on sites like Digg are people complaining about how the political system in the U.S. is broken and the average person cannot make a difference.
The internet has opened the door for a new type of politician funded purely by small donations from individuals. The people in power are never going to give up that power voluntarily by implementing things like term limits and real campaign finance reform, but there is enough free money floating around on the internet to put a publicly funded, honest politician in every future open seat in the House of Representatives.
Please consider this fact before you say nothing can be done to save our country.- dpdawson, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1In fact, a movement like this has already started. Look up "Change Congress" and do your part to save the world. I know it sounds like hyperbole, but I truly believe it is that important an issue.
If candidates are beholden to money instead of the public, all the other issues do not matter.

- BlankVerse, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1There was a nice article in Sunday's LA Times:

- rz8472, on 07/17/2008, -0/+12They were already intimidated by and showed how uncool they were when Obama did that fist-bump. Imagine the reaction over this webcomic...
- asherchang, on 07/16/2008, -25/+57After Obama's betrayal of our trust with his vote for the telecom immunity bill, any achievement of sanity in American govenerment would be really awesome right now. Even if it's just for a spot in the Kansas legislature. Hope this guy wins!
- Zarokima, on 07/17/2008, -7/+20How the ***** are you getting buried for that? You have a good, valid point with a recent example to back it up. Hooray for blindly following the Obamessiah! (Oh, dear FSM, I just reduced myself to the same level as users of the words "democraps," "repubtards," and "sheeple.")
- Andrwmorph, on 07/17/2008, -6/+2Dum libtard!
- TWGMichael, on 07/17/2008, -1/+2Dugg for Obamessiah. That would make a great t-shirt.
- mediatedthought, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2We need more diggers in government.
The two parties are just too much alike.
I can't believe Obama's 180 on the FISA bill either.
Lets get rid of both the parties and start from scratch.
There is no real choice.
- Zarokima, on 07/17/2008, -7/+20How the ***** are you getting buried for that? You have a good, valid point with a recent example to back it up. Hooray for blindly following the Obamessiah! - HenryFatass, on 07/16/2008, -2/+39Just donated...
Go Sean! - jonmlm, on 07/16/2008, -2/+62this tech savvy candidate better have the servers to handle this mission
- HenryFatass, on 07/16/2008, -1/+41Google cache snagged a bit of the homepage...and the ever-important PayPal Donate button...
http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:3veVUtYjnHkJ: ... - rinocom, on 07/16/2008, -14/+545 diggs and it's down?
- stevis, on 07/16/2008, -1/+108Well, yes, the site is down for the moment. Sorry.
Boing Boing+Digg was actually the culprit.
We're working feverishly on moving the server from a shared host to a dedicated host. Thanks for your understanding all the warm, supportive emails.- athenanon, on 07/17/2008, -0/+31And reddit. Sean himself is actually a Redditor. He said that's what inspired him to do this campaign anyways.
- AKBryant54, on 07/17/2008, -0/+15Truth. Here's some proof:
http://www.reddit.com/info/6qi4k/comments/c04lrt5 - Andrwmorph, on 07/17/2008, -0/+7***** it, I'm moving to Kansas
- AKBryant54, on 07/17/2008, -0/+15Truth. Here's some proof:
- McShr3dd3r, on 07/17/2008, -0/+12Way to go man. Excellent campaign strategy. May you win the internets sir!
- elfuego, on 07/17/2008, -1/+6I'd donate if I could, alas I am Canadian. But I truly wish you the best in quashing the ignorant and uninformed.
- padraic2112, on 07/17/2008, -4/+3You got $8.34 of my money. Even if your politics were basically disagreeable, what you're trying to do here is worthy of note.
- athenanon, on 07/17/2008, -0/+31And reddit. Sean himself is actually a Redditor. He said that's what inspired him to do this campaign anyways.
- charliejane, on 07/16/2008, -1/+9Drat, it sounded funny.
- stevis, on 07/16/2008, -1/+70It's back up! Thanks to everyone who offered help and advice.
- JHW539, on 07/17/2008, -4/+3And down it goes - at least the Donate portion of it. You probably want to work on that a bit.
- dannyuniverse, on 07/16/2008, -0/+41Good luck, Mr. Tevis. It'd be great to see you knock off your anti-science, anti-choice, pro-censorship opponent and bring some common sense to Kansas politics. I hope the Internet supports you.
- DiscipleN2k, on 07/16/2008, -0/+16Sweet. Looks like he's already passed that 644 record. Up to 675 last I checked!
- kilrathi, on 07/16/2008, -0/+47I donated $20. I'm from Oklahoma, and I therefore completely empathize with Sean's plight. Anything that I can do to help local non-fundies/constitutionalists/smart people is money well spent.
I really appreciate the work that local people getting involved in politics are doing. It does wonders for my (seemingly lacking) faith in humanity. As for anyone who might claim we shouldn't have influence in these elections, because we don't live there: I would agree if the local elections were actually local. Here in Oklahoma we routinely have people running for state legislature who receive tens of thousands in donations from the likes of AT&T, Exxon, and the RNC. If it's fair game, it's fair game. - mattyohe, on 07/16/2008, -0/+25Hilarious read. Donated!
- tykwondingo, on 07/16/2008, -0/+14It was a matter of time.
Very cool. - netwolfalpha, on 07/17/2008, -0/+27Loved it. Had to donate and I never donate to politicians.
- chuyzero, on 07/17/2008, -0/+34First donation I've ever made to a politician. Go Sean!
- urlnotfound, on 07/17/2008, -12/+5[this is good]
- urlnotfound, on 07/17/2008, -12/+4[this is good]
- feignNU, on 07/17/2008, -1/+0Praise Fipi Lele!
- riorisa, on 07/17/2008, -0/+10~donated~
- johnkalel, on 07/17/2008, -0/+12done.
one for me, one for Cory Doctorow. - Tex, on 07/28/2008, -1/+15He should probably use ActBlue for fundraising instead of PayPal, but I'm still game.
- mitoguard, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5ActBlue, so far as I know, doesn't cover Kansas. I have no idea why.
- emanl, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2ActBlue just doesn't do state legislature races. I think that they're mostly for people running for Congress and some state offices.
- BaseballGuyCAA, on 07/17/2008, -1/+22One of the best ways I've ever spent $10. Hell of a job, Sean.
- LessThanLiz, on 07/17/2008, -1/+13He's not bad looking for an old guy.
- Robijnson, on 07/17/2008, -0/+19Ugghh living in Kansas. He captured it well. I'm definitely donating.
- antiderivative, on 07/17/2008, -3/+17I want a DVD from his mom.
- Stevo23, on 07/17/2008, -0/+8I want a DVD of your mom.
- lcbo, on 07/17/2008, -1/+8***** yeah.
- brett1337, on 07/17/2008, -0/+28this was ridiculously awesome. Absolutely needs to make the front page.
- Serphyas, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6Mos' def. And I bet he'll reach the 3000 donation mark if it does.
- DavidIrons, on 07/17/2008, -0/+16Clever idea. The best luck to you!
- lordtyros, on 07/17/2008, -0/+41I just donated $10 to support the idea of people actually going out and trying to change ***** instead of just complaining on the internet.
- RegalGSX, on 07/17/2008, -7/+1Good thing I'm not a forum troll.
- Jareth86, on 07/17/2008, -0/+36My god, why is this not on the front page?
Oh yeah, Andy Dick was arrested. Major stuff there...- skye196, on 07/17/2008, -5/+4Hi, welcome to Digg.
- Jareth86, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Hi, I've been here longer than you :D
- skye196, on 07/17/2008, -5/+4Hi, welcome to Digg.
- lamontikon, on 07/17/2008, -0/+20How we saved politics and won the government back. It all started back in 2008 in a little country called Kansas...
- thelif, on 07/17/2008, -0/+18Then he could go on The Colbert Report and be part of the Better Know a District segment for some sort of Digg explosion.
- koldmilk, on 07/17/2008, -0/+8I'll be donating.
I wish you luck in this fight! - consonance, on 07/17/2008, -0/+29THIS. IS. KANSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS.
- YancyFryJr, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6Unfortunately for both of us, I'm broke at the moment. Best of luck!
- robds, on 07/17/2008, -0/+27Well, Mr. Tavis took my political donation cherry. I hope he respects me in the morning.
- Hyperion1144, on 07/17/2008, -0/+16I donated. Come on... It's only 9 or 10 bucks. Think about the last stupid thing you KNOW you wasted $10 on... Come on... Now, how is THIS any more stupid??? Donate out of curiosity, let's see what happens...
- rz8472, on 07/17/2008, -0/+15History has already been made; Sean has over 1400 donors already, more than twice of the 644 that was the last 'record'.
- koldmilk, on 07/17/2008, -0/+9that is nothing the internet can do better.
- AzzidReign, on 07/17/2008, -0/+15I want a government like he says so badly. So badly. I know others do. But people are too stupid to actually try and get one.
I'm not. Donated. - arakrune, on 07/17/2008, -1/+9awsome i love this guy
i wish i could vote for him
and as soon as i can i am donating - poofj2, on 07/17/2008, -0/+23Donated $8.43--for great justice.
- Lockick, on 07/17/2008, -0/+10You have my money, you have my vote, you have my confidence.
- DiggerDoombot, on 07/17/2008, -0/+13First time I've donated money (willingly) to a politician. Good luck!
- VCubed, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6My PayPal acct is all messed up or I'd donate the 8.43 in a heartbeat, but it's dugg and distributed - he's halfway there and only 10 days to go - do it people, hell give him 16.86 to make up for my screwed-up PP acct, please!
- KingGorilla, on 07/17/2008, -15/+3xkcd isn't really a style.... It's just how people draw when they're not that good or are lazy
- koldmilk, on 07/17/2008, -0/+17One day i hope you run for a higher office.
good luck. - cambob76, on 07/17/2008, -19/+1"XKCD homage style" = I have no drawing skill at all or I'm too lazy to make my comic look good... but this other comic uses stickmen so I will too. LAME
