- haterofps3, on 07/22/2008, -8/+32free speech is beautiful though!
- RudeTurnip, on 07/22/2008, -5/+63The freedom is beautiful, but the speech can be ugly.
- kimmik, on 07/22/2008, -14/+5You are a retarded ***** who ***** his mother in her dirty ass.
... just using freedom of speech. - jmccgod, on 07/22/2008, -8/+2Your profanity however, is not protected. So go ***** yourself.
- Managua8Green, on 07/22/2008, -1/+2Not when you're a government representative.
- MWeather, on 07/22/2008, -2/+1Not as beautiful as getting your ass kicked for abusing it.
- jebaird, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2but where does it cross the line and become slander/libel?
- neoform, on 07/22/2008, -7/+28What's the difference between Sen. Kevin Bryant and a piece of *****? Just a little.. oh wait.
- smacksaw, on 07/22/2008, -0/+40The difference between the men in the picture and Kevin Bryant is that those two men are wearing a white sheet as a turban, while Kevin Bryant wears his white sheet as a pointy hat and a mask with eye holes cut out.
- withears, on 07/22/2008, -10/+13No it isn't.
It's typical republican behavior.
We need to make sure that Sen. Kevin Bryant is a big issue in this election. - 5urr3al5am, on 07/22/2008, -22/+10Obama and this liberal cronies are going to need MUCH thicker skin than that come election time. Look how poorly the main stream media has treated GWB? And as always.. Huffington Post, what piece of sh!t newspaper.
- dpantages, on 07/22/2008, -7/+14Thats because G "Dubya" talks with the aptitude of a fifth grader. At least Obama sounds articulate when he speaks....
- tkstock, on 07/22/2008, -8/+3Oh, well let's elect him then!
(Oh, wait, wasn't Hitler a pretty good speaker?) - CryRightardCry, on 07/22/2008, -2/+3LOL
What a sad sack.
Why does he need a thick skin? Do you rightards really think you can avoid real issues all the way until November?
Thick skins are needed for personal attacks. Are you planning on giving up on the issues and just attacking him personally? That figures.
You don't like the Huffpost? Is is the facts or links backing up claims that bother you?
You can always flush on back to LGF with the other floaters. - tkstock, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2I think Obama is avoiding the issues, unless you think "hope" is an issue.
If you want to discuss issues, read both of their stances on domestic and foreign policies, then ask yourself these questions:
1) Which policy increases the government bureaucracy the most?
2) Which plan has the most chance of wrecking the economy? (will take some knowledge of macro-economics)
3) Whose plan will benefit Islamic extremists the most?
4) Whose plan will lower energy costs and increase energy supply diversity the quickest?
You can't assume you know their plans by reading them here on Digg - go to their website and read them both for yourself.
BTW, the answers are 1) Obama's 2) Obama's 3) Obama's 4) McCain's
Sorry I couldn't put the answers upside-down and backwards at the bottom of the page...
- zeazzz, on 07/22/2008, -8/+2No we don't, then he will get the stupid attention that he wants. The only reason he posted that image in the first place was to get attention; his blog usually gets absolutely no traffic. I just say we forget about him and his stupid site - or use the Digg Effect to permanently kill his Republican server.
- 5urr3al5am, on 07/22/2008, -2/+2weak
- CryRightardCry, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1@55urr3al5am
Yeah, it is really weak of that Senator, but to be fair he's GOP and has nothing else to go on but lies and misinformation.
Hey, congrats on being the sort of unethical piece of ***** that would actually defend stuff like this.
Still haven't enlisted, you cowardly warmonger?
How embarrassing. I'd be ashamed if I were you, but I have integrity. You probably just think it's funny to warmonger and have real men do the fighting for you.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 07/22/2008, -9/+5Racism.
- QuadZeroRoute, on 07/22/2008, -3/+13Muslim is not a race. Can't be racism.
- 5urr3al5am, on 07/22/2008, -3/+4I believe MacSuxWindozSux meant to add a '/sic' to their comment. Cause it's kinda stupid and ridiculous .. and hey, that's what a '/sic' tag is all about
- CryRightardCry, on 07/22/2008, -3/+1@Quad
Oh gee, you really have him pinned in a corner with that logic, rightard shill.
LOL
It's sad that THIS is what you rightards pin your hopes on.
Well, we can either pretend you have a brain and can figure out that ARAB is a race, or you can pretend you have a brain and figure out BIGOT fits in there.
Either way, kudos to you pieces of ***** for defending it. How PROUD your mothers must be.
Oh, were your moms rightard bigots too? That would explain a lot. - obamayomama, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1@ Leftard; "Oh gee, you really have him pinned in a corner with that logic, rightard shill."
Actually, he's correct, so yeah, when someone makes a statement that's incorrect and it's refuted by an indisputable fact, that kinda "pins" the former. Of course this may be lost on you, since I've noticed you don't like to let pesky little things like facts get in the way of your arguments, instead resorting to brainy, 'your mom" type comments.
- OwdenBowden, on 07/22/2008, -13/+5WOW. The truth Hurts and the Diggers are going wild.
Sad to see that Digg has become a haven for the Cults of Paul and Obama; and heaven forbid you say anything that is taken as negative (even if it is the truth) about your leader beans.
You people are worse than the Cult of Scientology.
Keep drinking the cool-aid.- PopcornDave, on 07/22/2008, -0/+6Nah, it's ***** propaganda at best. It's about on the par of putting McCain in a Depends ad with June Allison.
- jonmlm, on 07/22/2008, -1/+4not to help you look better when you embarrass yourself in the future.. but. it's "kool-aid", stupid.
- OwdenBowden, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Sorry Jon I did not enjoy this liquid refreshment as my parents actually made some money in their endeavors.

- PopcornDave, on 07/22/2008, -1/+5It's just pandering to an illiterate and/or uninformed constituency. Really I'd expect no less of someone trying to pander to the fears of the uneducated although I've seen educated people parroting the link of Obama and the secret shadowy Muslim connection.
- noprtyaff, on 07/22/2008, -12/+5Now he just needs one that notes that there is no difference between McCain and Bush and I'd say he is just about dead on. God forbid we should offend anyone at the Fluffingtonpost or their messiah, but lets be reasonable here:
Both have middle-east names.
Both Osama and Obama have religious true believer followings.
Both are empty vessels.
Both are extremists.
Have a nice day. - Wavemancali, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2Go to the site, post a comment, express your disgust. I did.
- 1Bad, on 07/22/2008, -3/+2Thank you "The New Yorker" for encouraging this *****. After all if the liberals who support Obama, make "funny" comics about Osama being a terrorist, then everyone should be able to do it. Stupid ***** assholes.
- imsoclever, on 07/22/2008, -1/+1Grammar?
- kufu91, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1you do know that this is the kind of thing the new yorker cover was satirizing right?
"He added: "You know, blogs are for satire and whatnot and, um, that's why it's up. It's similar to the New Yorker picture. Maybe that's why this has gotten so much attention, because of that thing that came out a couple days ago.""
just because he's incoherently trying to pin this on them doesn't mean he isn't pandering to ignorant xenophobia. - obamayomama, on 07/23/2008, -0/+0They may be assholes at the New Yorker, but they're not stupid.... .. lots of publicity to back up magazine sales.
- ieatpizza, on 07/22/2008, -6/+6FFS, I'm not trying to defend the guy, but would everyone please stop being little pussies about everything? So what if he has a tasteless picture on his website? That's his choice. Does it REALLY offend you that much or do you just want to make a big stink about every little thing? If you don't like it, don't look at it. That's freedom of speech. And yes, I would say the same thing if a democrat did it. I'm sick of the U.S. being full of pussies that get offended at every little thing.
Go ahead, digg me down, you know I'm right. - rebotfc, on 07/22/2008, -2/+5SORRY FOR SHOUTING BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT .....
If his comments wont approve our valid criticisms as all comments need approval, that means the BLATANT RACIST replies were APPROVED BY SENATOR BRYANT!!!!!!!!!!! - Pillage, on 07/22/2008, -3/+2you are just realizing this? The Huffington post has been disgusting in shameful since its inception.
- Karai, on 07/22/2008, -3/+1Honestly? This is the first thing I thought of a couple years ago when this whole thing started. I thought "No Amerikkkan is going to vote for a black man with a name that sounds like Osama, they are too ***** retarded to get past such things."
But it seems I was (thankfully) mistaken. There is hope yet in Amerikkka, but I still think it should be nuked. :|- obamayomama, on 07/23/2008, -0/+0When I first read your comment about nuking "Amerikkka" I was angry, Then I went to your profile and learned that you're "A 20 year-old person from Canada," and was instantly at peace in the knowledge that you're from a land of idiots, and basking in the springtime of your folly. I hope that when the first Nuke falls, it's way up top in North "Amerikkka."
- avrygoodfrnd, on 07/22/2008, -1/+1You're right, completely diggsgusting.
- boowana, on 07/23/2008, -2/+0You're right, completely disgusting. But you have to give credit to creativity and effort to make funny. I support Obama but you have to be able to laugh just like the recent magazine cover Obama should have said he thought it was funny press would have loved it.
- HopeMonger, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Time to get this guy out of office... please help me spread the word. His opponent in the fall is http://www.meadorsforstatesenate.org/
- haterofps3, on 07/22/2008, -8/+32free speech is beautiful though!
- zephc, on 07/21/2008, -41/+253south carolina is full of racists, so that an asshat like this holds any seat of power there is not surprising.
- Telvin, on 07/22/2008, -83/+9i'm from south carolina you twice inbred piece of white *****. and guess what? this fall i'm going to harvard, major: Physics, which will lead to a doctorate in Astrophysics, because i really like dark energy. Know what that is, ya dumb *****? Do you know what black body radiation is? do you even know for the goddamn love of god what hawking radiation is? do you know why green is not red? Or why we share (a tentative) 95% of our genes with chimpanzees? Do you believe humans came from chimpanzee? cause you're wrong. chimps and humans share a common ancestor, ya *****, and to say that south carolina is so stupid to elect a ***** like this hat guy- did I vote for him!? ***** this stupid Digg mob-ruled *****. you are all generalizing generalizers, and that means you're all retarded monkeys. (monkeys have tails, apes dont- bet you didn't know that!)
- zephc, on 07/22/2008, -6/+48"i'm from south carolina"
I lived in SC for 6 months (Columbia), which isn't as long as you, but it ***** sucked (the food and the climate didn't help)
"you twice inbred piece of white *****."
Yawn. I misread that as white bread - it is late.
"and guess what? this fall i'm going to harvard, major: Physics, which will lead to a doctorate in Astrophysics, because i really like dark energy."
Good for you, Harvard is a hard school to get into.
"Know what that is, ya dumb *****? Do you know what black body radiation is? do you even know for the goddamn love of god what hawking radiation is? do you know why green is not red?"
Yes, my first major in college was Physics, before I switched to CompSci. I was studying this stuff when you were still playing with Power Rangers.
"Or why we share (a tentative) 95% of our genes with chimpanzees? Do you believe humans came from chimpanzee? cause you're wrong. chimps and humans share a common ancestor, ya *****, and to say that south carolina is so stupid to elect a ***** like this hat guy- did I vote for him!?"
Tangent much? Anyway, did I say everyone in SC is racist? Of course not. I met a number of cosmopolitan people in Columbia, but you can sure meet a LOT of racists when you get out of the city (and plenty still in the city).
"***** this stupid Digg mob-ruled *****. you are all generalizing generalizers, and that means you're all retarded monkeys."
Spleesh, settle down before you have a stroke.
"(monkeys have tails, apes dont- bet you didn't know that!)" Of course I did. Anyone who didn't take high school bio in the Bible Belt knows this.
I hope in college you learn to calm the ***** down, you're going to get a nosebleed if you keep this up. College (especially in a place like Harvard) will be a humbling experience, when you are no longer the biggest fish in a tiny pond, but find yourself with many, much bigger fish, in a really really big pond. - Telvin, on 07/22/2008, -42/+3i go to the university of utah and i am an english major. i was totally lying and pulling ***** out of my ass that i'd heard on the history channel. but i am still much smarter than you, regardless of whatever.
- marx2k, on 07/22/2008, -1/+12"i was totally lying and pulling ***** out of my ass" With a little fiber, you don't have to pull as hard
- ventralnet, on 07/22/2008, -2/+7well from your post it doesn't look like you'll be lasting long at Harvard unless daddy has the money to back it up....
- ZimbuTheMonkey, on 07/22/2008, -8/+8Hello, my name is zephc. I like to emphasize my impressive educational background to gain leverage. My long paragraph does nothing to prove or disprove the original argument but it looks very impressive. Well, it would if my knowledge of physics matched that of the English language.
Hey jackass, no one gives a ***** about what you've studied. Did you ever consider that the rest of us aren't interested in the field you are interested in? Cause men educated in the field of physics can't possibly be racist, right? Do you guys take some kind of super mega ultra radiation bath that makes you impervious to that? - publiclurker, on 07/22/2008, -0/+8Your lack of writing skills is all the evidence needed to show that you couldn't even find Harvard on the map.
- ZimbuTheMonkey, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4Oh man, my bad Zephc. I scrolled up to see the name and I ended up with yours somehow. I meant Telvin, of course.
- Kral, on 07/22/2008, -0/+9"because i really like dark energy"
So that's like "I have a black friend"? - shibXcore, on 07/22/2008, -0/+7"***** this stupid Digg mob-ruled *****. you are all generalizing generalizers, and that means you're all retarded monkeys."
Wait...*we're* the generalizers? - Telvin, on 07/22/2008, -11/+1so, just that it's clear: I do not study physics. I do not live in, nor have i ever been to, south carolina. I am not going to harvard next semester. I live in Utah. Utah is a crappy place. And saying I like dark energy is not like saying "I have a black friend;" that doenst make any goddamn sense! but I am racist against mexicans, even though my mother herself is a dark-skinned mexican, which means, since i didnt get my dad's genes, that i am a dark-skinned mutt. I have an asian friend named joonk-ku, so maybe that's the same as saying 'i like dark energy.' god, you guys are so stupid.
- max420, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4@Telvin
That outburst makes you sound like a complete idiot, more then anything else. - kenedamick, on 07/22/2008, -0/+5That was one of the most astoundingly retarded posts I have ever read on Digg. Congratulations.
- Evilena, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2Calm down. He is just pointing out that you come from a state where actually understanding evolution and physics is something to brag about. Congratulations on getting into Harvard. You wouldn't have learned much at a state school.
- Jookly, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1You mad?
- StopThePresses, on 07/22/2008, -0/+0Why so serious?
- Telvin, on 07/22/2008, -4/+1so which outburst, max 420 (psh!) makes me sound like an idiot? i'm not refuting the charge, i'm just curious. And mr. kenedamick sir, what's so 'astoundingly retarded'? once again, i won't deny the charges of sounding like a complete moron. but joon-ku and me are very good friends. and i am one-half a mexican, but resent the wannabe gangstas that swarm downtown. thats not real racism, but it is.
- zephc, on 07/22/2008, -6/+48"i'm from south carolina"
- haterofps3, on 07/22/2008, -11/+40That is some nice generalization there!
Can I play too?
Americans are so self important!- Telvin, on 07/22/2008, -8/+5I sincerely hate america.
- kingp, on 07/22/2008, -2/+46Hey! I'm not racist and I live in SC.
There's a lot of racism in the SC, and it's not just whites, but all kinds. Regardless, this is completely distasteful and stupid of Bryant. I'm not voting for any of the numbnuts in state office come next election. - clemsontiger, on 07/22/2008, -11/+11Yeah that was a pretty broad generalization right there. Might want educate your self before you start spouting off at the mouth and showing us your ignorance.
- PawnsOfJoshua, on 07/22/2008, -2/+2It would only be ignorant to deny that there is a substantial racist sentiment in S.C. He didn't call *you* a racist, he simply stated that the populous is full of them, which it is.
- siszam, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2Pawns, there is racism everywhere. I live grew up in the south but now live in California. I've lived in many states. In California there are Mexicans who hate whites and whites who hate Mexicans. In Mexico many Mexicans hate blacks. In New Mexico some American Indians hate whites. Grow up and stop fearing southern people and demonizing them because they have an accent. Most of the people who throw ridiculous accusations around about southern racism have never been to the south. They are the ones guilty of hating a whole group of people out of ignorance. Stupid people are everywhere. The south has no more or no less than anywhere else.
- kevbryant, on 07/22/2008, -13/+7did you know that racism is a form of predjudice (basically the result of making assumptions about an entire group of people)?
so ... when can we expect your formal apology to the state of south carolina?- byronm, on 07/22/2008, -5/+16As soon as the constituents of South Carolina grow some balls and take action against Hate, Bigotry and Racism then they may deserve something... until then, SC is known for how it is because of HOW IT IS.
- MacEnvy, on 07/22/2008, -1/+4Wait ... dude ... are you Kevin Bryant? Or do you just identify with his idiocy so much that you chose him as a role model and username?
- kevbryant, on 07/22/2008, -6/+4i AM my own Kevin Bryant haha. And hell no I don't identify with this loser! I just know that people in SC aren't inherently racist. You're the one that chose to use the word "envy" in your username. But no worries.
- HopeMonger, on 07/22/2008, -1/+4Unfortunately there are some pockets of racism alive and well in this state, as I am sure there are in every state. The thing to do is start now and change that... whoever the Dems run against this man in the future will get a donation from me... I suggest everyone does the same. Perhaps a road trip to do a GOTV ralley?
- SuperVepr308, on 07/22/2008, -9/+8I live in SC and there is less racism here than I have seen up North. Blacks and Whites have lived together here for a long time and in most cases we get along just fine.
- publiclurker, on 07/22/2008, -9/+9As long as they remember to stay at the BACK of the bus, right?
- SuperVepr308, on 07/22/2008, -5/+5Think what you want dude. I live here and I know how things are. We work together, go to church together, our kids go to school together, etc etc. Grow up.
- satirenine, on 07/22/2008, -0/+5I live in SC too and the vast majority of the time blacks and whites get along. Racism can be found everywhere but racial harmony can also be found everywhere and I believe race relations are getting better with each generation.
That's the way the media is though, they sensationalize everything and I think people become trained to oversimplify reality. That's not preventable but it can be helped. It's too bad reporter don't act more like scientists and less like commentators. The media is an essential part of a democratic society but these days it's more like ad-based entertainment. - PawnsOfJoshua, on 07/22/2008, -5/+5"I live in SC and there is less racism here than I have seen up North."
Ooop...there goes your credibility.
- Muyoso, on 07/22/2008, -10/+3You are an idiot. This is in no way racist. Is it stupid, sure, but there is NOTHING racist about it. What you liberals need to understand, is that its perfectly ok for a white man to criticize and make fun of a black person. I find true racism in how liberals treat blacks, like they need protecting and aren't capable of being treated like the rest of us. Care to explain to me how exactly this picture is racist?
- jstancom, on 07/22/2008, -1/+3This is not simply making fun of someone dumbass,
This is trying to discredit a presidential candidate by associating him with militant Islam and Osama bin Laden.
It is a cheap shot and uncalled for. Many people are already misinformed on Obama's beliefs simply because of HIS NAME and its reinforcing a stereotype, much like I associate people like you with an inability to finish a book.
Make fun of his style, his policies, but it is not appropriate to make statements as said in the picture. - PawnsOfJoshua, on 07/22/2008, -0/+3Because Bill/Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry were NOT painted as muslims. The fact that they resort to such a tasteless and unfounded act of propaganda is testament to the fact that these good 'ole boy state senators do not want to see a black president and will even sacrifice their pretense of integrity to prevent it from happening. So just shut up with the denial, because it only makes you seem stupid. We all already know why they make these baseless claims.
- Evilena, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1"What you liberals need to understand, is that its perfectly ok for a white man to criticize and make fun of a black person."
As long as you do it in a non-racist way.
Its not racist for me to call Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell traitors. - Endemoniada, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1It's never wrong to make fun of a black person, but it IS wrong to make fun of a black person BECAUSE he is black. Get the difference?
- jstancom, on 07/22/2008, -1/+3This is not simply making fun of someone dumbass,
- labber223, on 07/22/2008, -8/+1I don't really see how this is racist. It isn't playing on Obama being black but him being a Muslim. You could make a stretch about it being prejudice about Muslims, but it was probably more like saying Obama has the same values and was raised like Osama. However, like all liberals anything negative directed at Obama is racism because you say it is.
- bonhoeffer, on 07/22/2008, -5/+0Muyoso has it right. Sen Bryant caricatured a person, not a race; he did not mention Obama's race (he is a mulatto); and Obama is not the spokes person for a particular race.
So there is nothing racist about criticizing Obama; its politics. - ndfn8, on 07/22/2008, -0/+6I'm from South Carolina and I'm not racist. I voted for Obama in the primaries, and will vote for him in the general election. I can't believe that someone from our state would stoop this low to attack a candidate. I'm moving.
- CalvinMonk, on 07/22/2008, -7/+2Crime Statistics - Hate Crimes - Race Related by state shows SC as # 21
California as # 1
http://www.statemaster.com/graph/cri_hat_cri_rac_r ...
Now would you like to back up your data?- PawnsOfJoshua, on 07/22/2008, -1/+3These statistics only demonstrate that the good 'ole boy system protects white perpetrators of hate crimes.
- nfury8ing, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1Want a tinfoil hat to go along with your CRAZY suit?
- fool13, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1Good statistics. California is #1 because of all the Hispanics. SC has one of the highest population of blacks on the country, well in the 20%s yet one of the lowest hate crime rates. Says that PawnsofJoshua is a moron and idiotic generalizations about racism in SC make you just as bad as the senator who posted that ugly picture.
- JigoroKano, on 07/22/2008, -0/+3“And I want to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, that there’s not enough troops in the Army to force the Southern people to break down segregation and admit the ***** race into our theatres, into our swimming pools, into our homes and into our churches.”
Strom Thurmond -- SC Sentator 1954-2003
He never really renounced his views. That's pretty much proof that SC is racist. I grew up there too. - Khanvalescent, on 07/22/2008, -2/+1Generalize much?
- Protuhj, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4In SC and not racist... I hate everyone equally.
- fool13, on 07/22/2008, -4/+1Actually it isn't racist. oBama, oSama. Theres a one letter difference, it doesn't take a genious or a racist to see where the similarities are.
- fool13, on 07/22/2008, -1/+1The guy's trying to make Obama seen like he is connected to Arab and other Middle Eastern countries. A quick google search reveals:
Barack: Form of the Hebrew name Baruch.
Hussein: It is of Arabic origin, and its meaning is "good; small handsome one". The name of a prominent person in Shiite Islam and a royal name in Jordan.
Obama: a Luo name (male) from Western Kenya (Nyanza Provice) which may derive from "obam," which conotes "bending" or "leaning".
Found first two at some random baby names site and his last name at -
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/Scho ...
I'm not too privy to why his parents decided to give him an arabic middle name or a hebrew first name. If his middle name wasn't Hussein I seriously doubt there would be any Obama-Osama connections although I may certainly be wrong. His last name is clearly from Africa but idiots will choose to remain ignorant. - zer0nix, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1quite frankly, i'm just waiting for someone to do a kramer; i'm so disappointed it hasn't happened yet.

- glucoseboy, on 07/21/2008, -4/+11Exactly! All this talk about Obama having no sense of humor. I thought the new yorker cartoon was not appropriate satire because it deliberately plays into the hands of those folks who want to manipulate the fears of those American's who can't comprehend the concept of a black president, much less one with the name Barack Hussein Obama.
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=barack ... - KokomoNYC, on 07/22/2008, -2/+3I don't really like what the New Yorker did. I thought that image was beneath them. Still, I think it's a kinda lame to say things like "People won't get the satire. The only satire we should print is satire that people will get."
- theaceoffire, on 07/22/2008, -0/+6The problem is that people don't get things you tell them directly... if we could ignore those who are stupid, this wouldn't be an issue.

- ahvi, on 07/22/2008, -1/+5I really thought it was hilarious because it actively made fun of all the idiots who kept framing Obama as a Muslim. Maybe it's just my New York sensibility, but it was quite obvious that it wasn't serious. I really can't believe the media picked it up and forced Obama to denounce it. Well, he's running a fantastic campaign so far so we'll all win in the end... hopefully.
- OilyTheOtter, on 07/22/2008, -1/+8This has nothing to do with the New Yorker. I can't believe this Senator said he was trying to do the same kind of thing on his blog. If he is interested in writing comedic blogs, he's in the wrong business.

Wont somebody PLEASE think of the republicans... !? These poor little unsophisticated minds are so easily bruised and battered by the slightest hint of nuance or the non-literal. SOMEONE has to stand up for them and protect them. These folks think its somehow intensely revealing that his middle name is Hussein and his last name RHYMES with Osama.
- caramba420, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1It's absurd that the Senator would try to use the New Yorker cover to try to justify his actions. The NY cover was a satire on how blatantly racist the right is.

So basically you're saying when side A does it, it's incidental stupidity, but when side B does it, it becomes structural misleading of people.
Good to know.
You all act soooo upset at this, but if this was something meant to take a shot at McCain, you'd be applauding it, and calling the person a genius. It's probably the reason why I usually assume all outrage from Obama supporters over things like this is 100% phony.
Otherwise you'd be almost as upset at the Rolling Stone cartoon of a caged McCain being surrounded by slant-eyed, buck-toothed Vietnamese, as you were over the Obama cartoon on the New Yorker. - tkstock, on 07/22/2008, -2/+2Yes, the hordes democrats decrying that McCain wants to stay in Iraq 100 years is structurally misleading.
The hordes of democrats saying McCain is a war-mongerer is structurally misleading.
The hordes of democrats who claim McCain would just be a Bush third term is structurally misleading. - mmeiser, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1If I could digg this comment up twice i would. It's this partisan politics / "ends justifies the means" attitude that really pisses me off whatever side it's coming from. People who believe so vehemently in their candidate or party that they suspend basic human courtesy / morals / ethics.
Of course the New Yorker has taken it to a new level, it's not partisan politics, it's "the attention justify the the means".
And this is perfect proof of what the New Yorker's bold bigotry does:
"You know, blogs are for satire and whatnot and, um, that's why it's up. It's similar to the New Yorker picture. Maybe that's why this has gotten so much attention, because of that thing that came out a couple days ago."
It emboldens other bigots (in this case Kevin Bryant uses it as an excuse) to step out of the shadows and make their mark also.
The New Yorker bears a great deal of responsibility for encouraging ignorance and bigotry across the nation with their cover.

I should have said something along the lines of:
When your philosophy is that Barack is weak on terrorists, and therefore (in the eyes of this Senator) is similar to a terrorist by name and alleged policy, you make these generalizations. - IpecacNeat, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1But the thing is Obama isn't even close to Osama in "alleged policy". Osama is a radical Jihadist bent on the destruction of the West, and Obama is the total opposite.
- johnnyboy239, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1I'm assuming that you don't actually agree with these claims and are just trying to explain their actions.
Even so, those are not generalizations that even someone with that mindset should make if they act in a logical fashion.
Premise 1: X's name sounds like Hitler
Premise 2: X is weak on anti-nazi policy
Therefore,
Conclusion: X is the same as Hitler.
Even with these premises the logic does not flow, however it is quite obvious that premise 2 is false in the first place, and that premise 1 is a complete non-sequitor.
People like this senator do not use logic, they use scare tactics, if you want to explain his actions it's as simple as saying he believes the public is stupid enough to believe ridiculous claims not built on fact but on fear.

If some Americans are easily manipulated ignorant retards, then it's their own damn fault for not appreciating education and critical thinking. Naturally, politicans and businessman will try and sway their views for their own interest. There is nothing wrong with that. You can't force people to become intelligent. Unfortunately, one of the prices of liberty is the right to be a dumbass.

What?! How can a senate for an entire state be out of session for 5-6 months of a year? Especially an election year? I guess South Carolinians aren't getting anything done legislatively until then.

- crapmatic, on 07/22/2008, -1/+8At first I really did think he might have been Muslim at one time, but I googled up that turban picture and came up with a CBC story about a 2006 incident:
"U.S. Democratic rivals Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton are trading barbs over a photo of Obama dressed in traditional local garments during a visit to Kenya in 2006. The Associated Press photo, which is circulating on the Internet, shows Obama wearing a white turban and a wraparound white robe. The garments were given to him by elders in Wajir, in northeastern Kenya .... Obama is a member of the United Church of Christ and says he has never been a Muslim, but false rumours continue to spread online."
I guess I've been in a cave but that explains it.- amightywind, on 07/22/2008, -11/+4Not fully. Obama's brother Malik is a devout Muslim, as is his father. Obama is known to have studied in a madrassa. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. It is hard to call the Afro-centric United Church Christian in any meaningful sense.
- Mejari, on 07/22/2008, -2/+7you know, except in the sense that they worship Christ. Apparently that's not meaningful tho. And you do know he barely, if at all, knew his father, right? A -lot- of people have very deep rooted fear, hatred, and ignorance of certain other races, in this case blacks to whites. Also, a -lot- of people, especially in post-9/11 and post-Bush America have a similar irrational hatred and fear of "Muslims".
Playing to either of those unfairly is a horrible thing. It'd be like being buddies with Hitler (or, being forced into an uncomfortable acquaintance against your will if it makes you feel better about the analogy) and making a joke about the neighborhood baker:
if you say "that baker is a lizard! Look at the way he keeps sticking his tongue out! haha! Lizard baker!", then you're making fun of the baker, so, whatever. Move on.
On the other hand, if you deliberately say "that baker is a Jew!" You're being a dick and a piece of *****, because you know what that means to Hitler, and you can predict that something very bad is going to happen to the baker because of your words. - Fr33th0t, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4I don't see anyone hawking outright lies about Bush or McCain in order to convince the public that they are not American. Shut the ***** up.
Gosh. I am so freaking sick and tired of the Right Republican Retards (LOLZ!!!!) using smear tactics, associating leftism with evil. I highly doubt that you have any idea WHAT it even means to be a leftist.
And yes, calling someone a redneck is not a perfect thing to do. But it is FAR from calling someone a "*****". You know why? Because of the history of those words, and the power that one claims by referring to African-Americans, people that have enslaved, abused, and still dwell in a racist society, as *****. And you know who still uses that term the most? "Rednecks".
Being a redneck is not a life style choice--- it is generally seen as being ignorant and ego-centric. "Rednecks" are republicans because they are told to be. They have blacks because that's how they are brought up. Education vs leisure. Whatever. I don't really need to argue with you, because I doubt you have read any of this.
The terms redneck is derogatory, but it is more so descriptive, where the term "*****" is demeaning and prescriptive.

- bonhoeffer, on 07/22/2008, -5/+0Unless you're saying Obama's religion is Marxism, not sure what the connectin to Rev Wright shows us.
- johnnyboy239, on 07/22/2008, -1/+6Let me spell it out for you here, i'll make sure to make it easy to understand so that you don't have any problems..
Reverend Wright was a Pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ, by itself that sentence should explain everything that needs to be explained to a normal person, but then again you did post your question twice so let's get started.
A pastor is defined as "a minister or priest in charge of a church. "1 so this guy was in charge of a church,
a church is "a building for public Christian worship. " 2
Christian worship is referring to worship done by people who find the religion Christianity to be to their suiting
So essentially what this means is Reverend Wright was a Christian Leader in charge of a Christian Church.
Now Dynamojoe was assuming that because everyone now knows about Reverend wright and they know that Obama went to the church they would know that he practices Christianity.
So to answer your question, Obama's connection to Reverend Wright shows us that he practices Christianity.

- johnnyboy239, on 07/22/2008, -1/+6Let me spell it out for you here, i'll make sure to make it easy to understand so that you don't have any problems..
- rz8472, on 07/22/2008, -0/+5Well it's simple. Obama is a radical Muslim brought up in a madrassa and wanted to appear Christian so he could run for higher office. Only someone as radical as Rev. Wright would bring in someone like Obama, since Hating America(TM) was their shared overriding ideology anyways. Now Obama has left the church and presumably has become an atheist. Which means that he's automatically a Marxist Commie as well.
/sarcasm - malex, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2I guarantee that Bryant is aware that Obama attends a Christian church. He probably just thinks he's a liar, and is too big of a coward to actually accuse him of such.

- bonhoeffer, on 07/22/2008, -7/+1Where's the racism? You think that because Obama is a mulatto he shoiuld be shown with lighter skin?
BTW: Posting you unpopular view on a website for all to see is hardly cowardly.- MonsterChaOS, on 07/22/2008, -1/+6Posting you unpopular view on a website for all to see is hardly cowardly. = True
Trying to link a respected US Senator (and the next POTUS) to a radical terrorist simply because of their name/color = cowardly. - soot, on 07/22/2008, -1/+3Ugh you idiot, you don't even get it. This is about slandering somebody and equating them to a terrorist killer and spreading the lie that he's a muslim radical, showing him with "lighter skin" is sidestepping the point.

- radiofrequency, on 07/22/2008, -8/+3The twenty years Obama spent in a racist, anti-American, afro-centric church that focused on black liberation theology doesn't make him a "God fearing Christian".
- EricSchC1, on 07/22/2008, -2/+9So what if he's not?! Many "God fearing Christian" presidents have proven to be ineffective leaders.
- PamalaLauren, on 07/22/2008, -1/+5What do you say of the white people that attend that church? Is that just forgotten and ignored? It does have white members. I frankly don't think you know a damn thing about what that church preaches.
