- weizbox, on 10/07/2008, -14/+11Was it awesome how fast she was able to whip out that false statement and pretend that our freedom to protest has anything to do with her son in Iraq (or ANYTHING to do with Iraq whatsoever)?
I don't think I'm understanding where the 'awesome' part was. Please explain.- these3remain, on 10/07/2008, -5/+6No one will even dignify your comment with an "explanation".
- weizbox, on 10/08/2008, -3/+5@these3remain
Clearly, because there isn't one. - johnyaya137, on 10/08/2008, -2/+3Hey, either you're intelligent enough to understand the concept, or you're a liberal.
- card51short, on 10/09/2008, -1/+4so...no one can tell us why her son being in Iraq is protecting our freedom?
OK then... - TheHomeOffice, on 10/19/2008, -3/+1people who never serve never understand that service no matter what job Infantryman to dental technician are the reasons who those who don't serve have their freedoms.
The lack of understanding of simple concepts of service is why I have zero amount of respect for those who do not serve because they don't like war or think they are above serving. Sure you can remain smug and think you are superior but fact is that you never get thanked for being a civilian. Since I am a disabled veteran and people can see that I have disabilities and ask about them they then find out that I am disabled from my service to this great nation always thank me for my service. Meanwhile no one thanks you or gives a ***** that you work at mcdonalds, or live off your parents. Serving your country in the military is one of lifes most noble causes. We servicemen and veterans keep this nation free and safe, At the same time those who protest wars and protest the military actually keep America less safe. - 911ArtStudent, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4How does fighting in Iraq serve our country? Were the Iraqis trying to take away our right to protest? That certainly seems to be what Palin is implying.
- yellowcakewalk, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4@TheHomeOffice blind obedience is false patriotism. If you just follow orders without questioning what those orders mean and what the implications are, you are a false patriot. You have the patriotism of a dog.
- avengingturnip, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2@HO,
As someone who has been in the military, you are full of sh*t. The losers who work at McDonalds have a far greater nobility than the self-deluded, hired thugs in the military. At least they don't invade and occupy foreign lands and they don't live off the taxpayer.
- weizbox, on 10/07/2008, -14/+11Was it awesome how fast she was able to whip out that false statement and pretend that our freedom to protest has anything to do with her son in Iraq (or ANYTHING to do with Iraq whatsoever)?

Killing thousands of young and innocent American soldiers for an unjustified war?
or Way to go as in:
We have less freedom now, because of the current Republican administration (e.g. US Patriot Act)
FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigations.
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records questions.
FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information related to a terror investigation.
RIGHT TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes.
FREEDOM FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES: Government may search and seize Americans' papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation.
RIGHT TO A SPEEDY AND PUBLIC TRIAL: Government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial.
RIGHT TO LIBERTY: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them.- these3remain, on 10/07/2008, -4/+6"Killing thousands of young and innocent American soldiers for an unjustified war?" But in the same vain, you could care less about the MILLIONS of innocent Americans that are killed every year in-utero and sometimes even born alive that Uh-bama is so in favor of - hypocrite.
- TheHomeOffice, on 10/19/2008, -3/+2"Killing thousands of young and innocent American soldiers for an unjustified war?"
At the same time the antiwar slime protest the military (your stupid "***** the troops" signs in portland antiwar rallies) Sorry but you antiwar slime get off everytime a serviceman dies.
Your statement just shows how ***** dumb you are anyways. It is terrorists that have killed American troops you dolt. You know the ones you claim don't even exist, but you blame the government. You are a tool. - quesi, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2if our country was occupied, the resistors would be called? terrorists, insurgents, combatants... which side would you be on?
wake up, we don't belong there - our troops should be home to protect the Principles that make America free. Not killing Iraqi's or anyone who came to help resist our intervention.
You do know that Iraq had no way to even defend its airspace when we attacked, right? that we had already had them broken for 10+ years? does that make you get a hard-on for war still? thats not a war.
and that's not saying anything against the troops. it's too bad they are being sent to kill and be killed against the best interests of their country. it's too sad that you think you are supporting them and "freedom" by suggesting that anyone who questions our involvement there "get off" when an American serviceman dies.
you should be ashamed for the side you've taken in the name of the troops. get a real perspective on right and wrong, American Principles and "supporting the troops"

- weizbox, on 10/08/2008, -1/+4these3remain, So you think Iraq has something to do with our freedom to protest? Please elaborate.
- Kythas, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1Because he's there fighting people who, if they had their way, would eliminate your right to protest. Take a look at Afghanistan under Taliban rule. Those are the people we're fighting.
So, yes, in a very real way, her son is fighting for the rights of all of us.
Osama bin Laden has stated in the past that Iraq is the central front in his war against us. Guess what? He's lost that front thanks to men like Palin's son, Biden's son, and so many other sons who put themselves in harm's way so you can make your idiotic remarks.
And before you call me a chickenhawk - I've been there and done that. - quesi, on 10/21/2008, -0/+2then you should have some clue... the taliban did nothing to U.S. except destroy the CIA's poppy fields and prevent the Unocal pipeline. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Barack_Obama%27s_Ira ... - Good2BMe, on 10/07/2008, -9/+12ldmyers-"We ARE air raiding villages and killing civilians."
Okay, maybe YOU are raiding villages and killing civilians, I can honestly say that I am not. But you support a candidate who hob-nobs with a domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers, who wishes he could have bombed more in the 70s.
Do us all a favor, learn the facts, then speak. Our soldiers are fighting right now for your freedom to speak, you may as well do it intelligently.- Coven, on 10/07/2008, -6/+12Describe in detail how my freedom of speech would be hindered had we not gone to war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- yellowcakewalk, on 10/07/2008, -6/+11I too, would like to understand how USA soldiers are fighting to defend my freedom of speech. Please explain your comment. Thank you.
- jjvors, on 10/07/2008, -11/+3Ok. 1. US was attacked by al-Qaeda 9/11/2001. That is unacceptable. Without retalliation, we can then be threatened by terrorists without limit, including restrictions on our speech (Mohammed was a pedaphile would be forbidden, even though it is true.)
2. Afghanistan was the home of bin Laden. We overturned the Taliban government and chased him into the mountains of Pakistan. This was a blow from #1.
3. Saddam Hussein was developing nuclear weapons (see 500 tons of yellow cake found in Iraq) and was friendly with al-Qaeda--providing free medical care to al-Zarqawi, for example. We could not allow him to transfer nuclear material to them. This led to the Iraq war and removal of Saddam.
4. Iraq then became the frontline for the war on terror, until al-qaeda was defeated this year and slunk away.
5. No terrorists attacks have occurred in the US since 2001.
Would you prefer to have more terrorist attacks in the US? If not, how else would prevent them? - Coven, on 10/07/2008, -3/+131. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Afghanistan was a legitimate war, but terrorists would not be able to hinder our freedom of speech. Sure they could kill a few of us, but they would never be able to bring forward enough manpower to conduct a full scale invasion of the United States in order to institute their own law here.
2. I agree that Afghanistan was a just war. I still disagree that terrorism would somehow curb our constitutional rights. Talk about rolling over at the first sign of trouble. This nation is far stronger than that.
3. Wasn't this argument debunked over a year ago? That yellow cake was under UN and IAEA seal and Saddam had no capability to access the stuff, let alone refine and use it.
As for al-Zarqawi was hiding in the no-fly zone, where Saddam couldn't get to him, so how could he help him?
4. Al Qaeda had no presence in Iraq until the US invaded and a Sunni faction decided to label themselves "Al Qaeda in Iraq".
5. Correlation does not equal causation.
You want to prevent attacks on US soil? Go after the people involved in the attacks. They are hiding in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, had no capability of reaching our shores and was no threat whatsoever after the Gulf War.
Please, lay off the Hannity. It's for your own good. - card51short, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5wait a second...did he just say Saddam was friendly with Al Qaeda...you realize they are sworn enemies right...*face plant*
You obamazoids and you McCain bots are completely helpless...both your parties are bringing down America but hey, at least you get a win, right? *sigh*
- TYRONEBR549, on 10/07/2008, -6/+7WMD? There have been over a thousand pieces of equipment and artillery shells with nerve agents to mustard gas found in Iraq to date.
- Coven, on 10/07/2008, -5/+8There it is.
All of those weapons were well known to both the US and the UN. The US should be very familiar with them as we have have the bloody receipts for them. The nerve agents and mustard gas are all relics from the Iran-Iraq war and all of them are well past their shelf life and are all but useless.
Care to try again? - TYRONEBR549, on 10/07/2008, -8/+3Coven: I have family that has and are serving in Iraq as we write each other. One brother-in-law is in special ops and has told me that they even found nerve agents in trucks and other mobile units. Dozens of canisters of mustard gas dated 1996 were found outside of Baghdad. He said that there was other stuff, but that he could not talk about it.
- card51short, on 10/09/2008, -1/+4TYRONE...are you saying the found WMD's...yet never disclosed it and the media is keeping it totally quiet?
conspiracy nut. - ZZeke, on 10/09/2008, -1/+4Where's the "mushroom cloud" tyrone?
...and how is it you seem to know that there WERE WMD's found, but nobody's ever come out and told us?
Do you really expect us to believe that the Bush administration would keep something like that private, when it would finally justify their motives for war, and silence the anti-war critics once and for all - besides the fact that news like that would almost guarantee a McCain presidency?
Sorry Ty - With all due respect to your family and their service - I call total *****. No way we found WMD's and the Bush administration doesn't capitalize on it. - GoldBullion, on 10/09/2008, -1/+4Mustard gas and artillery are not considered WMDs.
- Kythas, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Coven,
I'll give this one a go.
The weapons that "were well known to both the US and the UN" were reported to the UN as having been destroyed after the Gulf War in 1991. However, in 2003, we began finding all sorts of chemical munitions that had been reported destroyed. Oh, yeah, and the UN weapons inspectors didn't even know.

- card51short, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2no...a war in a third world country with no army or navy is not protecting america's right to free speech.
The Constitution protects that. And, even if you believe the official 9/11 fairytale, no amount of planes crashing into buildings (an attack that required TOTAL failure from our Government) would ever change our freedom of speech.- ZZeke, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2I dunno card...looks to me like they've been trying to use 911 and the war as an excuse to limit free speech. Not saying that they've actually changed anything, but there's been a whole heck of a lot of anti-free speech propaganda being spewed from the mouths of pro-establishment pundits (O'Reilly, Hannity, Savage, Reagan, Malkin, Coulter, etc.), as well as coordinated press blackouts which have come down directly from the leadership of this country (no free press in Iraq, no pictures of coffins, etc.)
I'm with you - I was born under the principles of the constitution, and I will die under them as well...but there's really no end in sight to the constant and deliberate attacks against our inalienable rights.

- MisterEX, on 10/07/2008, -8/+17I think that because her son and McCain's children are also part of the military and fighting for us, means a lot. That truly means that they are devoted to what they do and it trickles down to their sons and daughters. That's a lot more than can be said of the other side.
- yellowcakewalk, on 10/07/2008, -9/+5Explain please how they are "fighting for us"? Fighting for Bush, fighting for Exxon, fighting for Halliburton, fighting for Israel, sure, but how again are they "fighting for us"?
- Coven, on 10/07/2008, -5/+8A lot more than can be said of the other side? Biden has a son in Iraq too!
- Evilena, on 10/07/2008, -15/+10Her great comeback is that her son is in Iraq fighting for the heckler's right to protest? That is just emotional words used to avoid a question and its not even true.
- yellowcakewalk, on 10/07/2008, -13/+9Praise be, Palin's son is protecting our first amendment right to free speech. Without his heroic sacrifice, those jack-booted America-hating terrorists would not have been able to tear-gas, beat, and arrest journalists in Denver and Minnesota last month. /s

- weizbox, on 10/07/2008, -14/+10Gotta love that 'speechless' was thrown in there... even tho the clip ends right after her remark, so you don't even know. TBH... I didn't even hear him in the first place, so it would be hard to hear if he was speechless.
It's sad that she uses lies (protecting freedom, not about being in Iraq) about her son as a political tool... I would hope my mom would never do that to me. - TonyStark, on 10/07/2008, -12/+7This was a set up - buried!
- System6, on 10/07/2008, -7/+18Always Classy, and always polite. Sarah Palin has been abused by the media. They can say what ever they want about her experience, or policies, but it is pretty hard to attack her honesty and character.
- SAR2009, on 10/07/2008, -8/+13And Gov. Palin demonstrates yet again she is one sharp gal.
- BlaqReaper, on 10/07/2008, -12/+7There are so many things wrong with this video.
1). We are air-raiding villages and civilians do die. It's war, so why boo at the truth?
2). Obama did vote against troop funding, but the bill he voted against was a created only after the first one (which funded troops and had a withdraw date: 120 days) was vetoed by Bush and which many of the Republicans, including McCain were against (and Obama voted for that bill). So in a way, McCain was against troop funding before Obama was. Also, Obama was voted for troop funding in other bills, just because he disagreed on one bill does not make him unpatriotic.
3). Iraq did not attack us. 9/11 wasn't because of the Iraqis or Saddam Hussein. I'm not going to debate if going to the war was the right choice or not, but we were not doing it to protect our freedom...that would have been invading Afghanistan and trying to locate Osama Bin Laden. Somewhere along the line, we must have got distracted and forgot who the real target was.
That's my two cents.- davidlt, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1Go back to sleep.

Save Freedom, Save Democracy.
McCain-Palin. - MicrosoftAccess, on 10/07/2008, -2/+8So this is where all the republicans are?
- gbudavid, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5Although I may disagree with what you say I will defend to the death your right to say it. A liberal, Frenchman said that... Voltaire was his name and now the liberals ridicule the stuff that allows them to speak???
- siszam, on 10/09/2008, -4/+2Her son is in Iraq because his mother is using him as a disposable, political pawn.
- davidlt, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1This is so stupid it doesn't even deserve a comment.
- Kythas, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1You can't come up with anything legitimate against Palin, so you resort to personal attacks. How liberal of you!
- seeingright, on 10/09/2008, -1/+2@ sis.. Do you have a problem with men and women fighting for freedom? Or in your opinion would fighting simply be a treasonous act of a hateful and shameless America?
Sarah Palin's son is a hero for simply putting on the uniform. Her son fights for your right to say the hateful thing you just said about a mother and a son. You should be ashamed of yourself. Sorry, but no cigar this time.
Bob - Vespa299, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4My only son is two years away from the navy, He is proud of his country and feels a strong desire to defend it and we support him and everyone in and out of the military to the fullest!
- NoCommies, on 10/12/2008, -0/+2All wars are fought for economic reasons, usually to defend or promote the economic interest of the country at war.
I am against the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, but sometimes governments do bad things to protect their citizens from things they do not understand.
9/11 was not just an attack on America, they struck at the heart of American power. They hit our beacon of capitalism. There was and is a lot more going on in this world than any of us know. One of them is the economic war now happening in which America is being unseated as the worlds economic super power.
Something to think about is whether the Iraq war prevented the economic collapse we are witnessing today. Did Bush delay the inevitable? Will history judge the grab of Iraq as a genius chess move on the international stage?
As I write this, the world is rewriting the Bretton Woods agreement. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bretton_Woods_system and given our greed and total failure as keepers of the world currency, does anyone think the world will trust us again?
America will be plunged into third world status without a guaranteed flow of oil in the coming years. The Iraq war and securing those oil fields may be the only thing that saves our way of life and our freedoms.
Whether wrong or immoral, my vote and support will always be to continue the American way of life. I need gas to put in my car to get to work to support my family and so do all of you. - ChristNewsWatch, on 10/16/2008, -0/+1If our troops are over in Iraq fighting for our rights.... How come we keep losing so many of those rights?
- ChristNewsWatch, on 10/16/2008, -0/+2I wonder if support for the troops will remain so high when martial law is called for on American soil...
If our troops are fighting for our rights / freedoms, how come the longer they fight, the more freedoms we lose?
Am I against the actual soldiers... NO ~ but I am very much against news media and the government when they manipulate Americans with their lies and deceptions!
(And NO, I'm not pro Obama)
May God's will be done! - yellowcakewalk, on 10/21/2008, -0/+5Want to see SPEECHLESS? Let Sarah Palin debate Ralph Nader and Cynthia McKinney.
