This is really what happened in 2000, and 2004 on top of Diebold bias

      Nobody is changing votes. Preventing certain demographics from voting is simpler and leaves no trail of evidence. Just look at the claims flying out of the Nevada primary for a contemporary example.

  • neocognitism, on 01/24/2008, -6/+7Oh please! This conspiracy theory exists only in the minds of Thor Hearne and the GOP. The real fraud is with the DREs and optical scan machines being hacked. History has many many examples of tallies being manipulated, but NOT ONE SINGLE CASE of voter fraud.

    I find it continually interesting that the GOP deny the possibility of machines such as the Diebolds being hacked, but insist voter fraud not only exists but is some sort of a systemic problem. Why wouldn't they want to go after both?

    The truth is this is false propaganda meant to sway public opinion to accept all sorts of restrictions on registering and voting. Such restrictions affect the poor, the young, and the elderly disproportionately, the former two of which tend to vote overwhelmingly democratic. A classic and old disenfranchisement scheme, which is much more important for them to pull off now that public sentiment has turned away from the GOP, and they are in danger of suffering massive losses going forward. If you say "no way would the GOP engage in organized voter disenfranchisement," then I direct you to google Thor Hearne and voter caging lists. Voter caging was finally exposed last year and there is a bill by Holt under consideration now to make it illegal.

    Note that it says "CAN" be. It is not mandatory at all.
    If you are committing voter fraud such as the case with Bush election in previous years. You won't be seeing any of these penalties ( I bet). If you commit them for say someone like RP (prepare to prolly get the max). No one will really be held accountable because their is no accountability in place

    Clean elections are integral to a Republican form of government which is why the U.S. Military may get involved by utilizing the Provost Marshal, to restore the integrity of the National Election process. It is the job of the U.S. Military to guarantee a Republican form of government.
