- shank2001, on 04/02/2008, -1/+9I am excited to get rid of my smartphone for a 3G iphone for a LONG TIME! Sorry I have to leave Verizon, but it is worth it.
- miriv365, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I have always liked Verizon, never had an issue with them, but can't wait to get rid of this piece of **** Treo 700wx that freezes and has to be rebooted 4 or 5 times a day.
- RevJonathan, on 04/03/2008, -1/+2Why leave when you can unlock?
- timusca, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4Really? GSM?
- miriv365, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I have always liked Verizon, never had an issue with them, but can't wait to get rid of this piece of **** Treo 700wx that freezes and has to be rebooted 4 or 5 times a day.
- whiskeymb, on 04/02/2008, -1/+9How, Steve's gotta be pissed. He never likes other people dishing out his announcements before him.
- Protoss, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Steve said himself a 3G iPhone was imminent.
- dcingraham, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1I'd actually rather that they take their time and do it right. Not like the rushed out Macbooks (of which I am an owner) that have that high pitched processor whine whenever it is idling. Just my two cents.
- shank2001, on 04/02/2008, -1/+9I am excited to get rid of my smartphone for a 3G iphone for a LONG TIME! Sorry I have to leave Verizon, but it is worth it.

- peznex, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2You are correct. I was looking at the post right below the 3G iPhone post on the Gizmodo homepage. I'm still confused how it ended up as the picture.
- trendspotter, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4Samsung Instinct for Sprint. Not vu. Proof: http://gizmodo.com/374937/video-samsung-instinct-l ...
- jabberwolf, on 04/02/2008, -2/+18""Let me repeat what I said:I THINK that you're going to see our INTEGRATED DEVICES be 3G devices in the not-too-distant future, and I mean months."
Thus, "I THINK" plus our "INTEGRATED DEVICES" means that it might not mean the iPhone. OMFG do these CEOs learn to talk from politicians or the other way around. All he needed to say was that the iphone was going to be 3G or not but he simply could not do it !
But WTF is with the title of this digg"AT&T Wireless CEO Confirms: 3G iPhone Coming In Months"?
HE SAID NO SUCH ***** THING!- lateralus, on 04/02/2008, -4/+4Well someone sure sounds like a bitter early adopter. ;)
Hit craigslist early and often.

- aapala, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4the pic is of the samsung instinct (i think it's going to be from sprint). i dont know why it's posted for this story.
- tnoy, on 04/03/2008, -4/+4Its one of the many devices that does exactly what the iPhone does.
- etandrib, on 04/03/2008, -1/+3Except the Instinct sucks at all of them. I think you used the word "does" a little too loosely there.
- skratchnerd, on 04/03/2008, -1/+2except except it does not run OS X. it still probably has a mobile browser
- synyster, on 04/03/2008, -1/+1except is not as cool as iphone, lack of accelerometers and suck as games .
- peznex, on 04/02/2008, -4/+1Vu
- trendspotter, on 04/02/2008, -3/+136Why did someone use the picture of the SPRINT Samsung Instinct for this ATT/iPhone/3G story??
- rmw132, on 04/02/2008, -4/+7To confuse you
- nbulp, on 04/02/2008, -1/+7It's a trap!
- robbob, on 04/02/2008, -1/+2Because this picture is more appealing than no picture at all
- dangerdooms, on 04/03/2008, -1/+0Couldn't they of just used an iPhone picture ? Just sayin'...
- brendanryder, on 04/02/2008, -20/+11EPIC!!
now the iPhone will officially be better than sex.- mrsteveman1, on 04/02/2008, -2/+26So i take it....you've had neither of them
- wrestlingnrj, on 04/02/2008, -2/+9Spoken like a true virgin.

- likwidtek, on 04/02/2008, -10/+2Vroom Vroom
- rmw132, on 04/02/2008, -4/+55Perfect timing for when my Verizon contract expires. AT&T here I come!
- inferno10, on 04/02/2008, -8/+6My condolences...
- GliTCH82, on 04/03/2008, -2/+2To Verizon, sure.
- locojones, on 04/02/2008, -8/+4Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
- rmw132, on 04/02/2008, -4/+20FYI, I have no problem whatsoever with Verizon. Zero complaints. I just really want the iPhone...
- luchid, on 04/03/2008, -6/+1So go buy one and unlock it with Ziphone! No reliability issues whatsoever.
- themonkman, on 04/03/2008, -1/+8You can't use Verizon as a carrier on the iPhone because there are no Verizon SIM cards.
- solidus636, on 04/03/2008, -3/+2@themonkman
yet....they'll give in sooner or later.- BryanJK, on 04/03/2008, -3/+2verizon was the first person apple went to with the iphone, but they wanted to much control over it
- solidus636, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1@Bryan(i don't see a reply button)...
I wasn't even talking about the iPhone specifically. There was an article here a few months ago that stated Verizon was thinking about going GSM and ditching their CDMA networks. - GliTCH82, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2I highly doubt it, Verizon has too much invested in CDMA already.
- xkorbin, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3Verizon is a CDMA Carrier, and iPhone is a GSM Product for a GSM Network. -- does not work
I doubt verizon will open to using R-UID cards if in four years Apple signs with them.. It would be cool if they did.
Nokia refuses to develop CDMA. OpenMoko is GSM..
I mean, most of the best phones are GSM... it's the better technology for the open consumer.
- GliTCH82, on 04/03/2008, -1/+5I have no complaints with AT&T either. You might even like the idea of being able to get ***** on your phone without having to pay for it, which Verizon tries really hard to disable.
- diggingaround, on 04/03/2008, -2/+1thank God AT&T is recording all my conversation... just in case I forget something!
- luchid, on 04/03/2008, -6/+1So go buy one and unlock it with Ziphone! No reliability issues whatsoever.
- diggingaround, on 04/03/2008, -2/+2Bend over to your new AT&T masters...
- inferno10, on 04/02/2008, -8/+6My condolences...
- digitallysick, on 04/02/2008, -10/+2Apple take down notice in 3... 2....1... , reason being, if everyone believes this they won't buy an iphone and will wait.
- treed, on 04/02/2008, -3/+2Many people already can't buy an iPhone. Places are running out of them; probably due to a pending product refresh.
- sputnike, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1You kidding me? Stores have plenty of them... not to mention, they just got a fresh batch of 16gb iPhones not so long ago. Plus if they want one, and there's not one in stock, they can go online to AT&T's Website / O2's Website / Apple's Website or have get another store to send it to their local store. There's plenty of options.
- kkiran, on 04/02/2008, -5/+17In months?? We all know that!! How many ?! is the question!
- SwedishNinja, on 04/02/2008, -2/+17All of them.
- SouthsideIrish, on 04/02/2008, -2/+1Sooner than later. The iphone is already going out of stock in a lot of Apple Stores. I would have said WWDC, but they may do something before than, or they may not, but probably will come out no later than the release of the SDK.
- BetterOffEd, on 04/03/2008, -0/+342
- synyster, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1anything that > 2 months
- ralphthemagi, on 04/02/2008, -14/+8Who cares? AT&T's 3G network is horribly limited.
- skubiszm, on 04/02/2008, -1/+11I am using AT&T's 3G network right now on my laptop. My download bandwidth meter peaked at 768 kbps, which I think is pretty awesome. Plus I have been connected for over 3 hours with interruption. I am using instead of the free wi-fi that is in the area because it is faster. I don't know what kind of real speed you get on the the other networks, but AT&T seems to be doing something right.
- ralphthemagi, on 04/02/2008, -3/+2With Sprint you get about twice that speed, and have superior coverage. Think less than 100ms ping, 1400 down / 700 up, and the ability to stay connected 24/7.
- GliTCH82, on 04/03/2008, -1/+1Rabble rabble, Sprint, notice me, I know a thing or two, rabble.
- CLShortFuse, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2It depends where you are. In NYC, i get 1600kbps. It's not a limit because of the technology, it's a cap AT&T has placed. On usenet, i constantly download at 199.9997 kilobytes per second.
- ralphthemagi, on 04/02/2008, -3/+2With Sprint you get about twice that speed, and have superior coverage. Think less than 100ms ping, 1400 down / 700 up, and the ability to stay connected 24/7.
- Focher, on 04/02/2008, -2/+4I care because I don't live in the US and am not an AT&T customer ... yet have been enjoying my iPhone since last August.
- fangorious, on 04/02/2008, -4/+1your old iphone won't get a free 3g chipset upgrade
- insertAliasHere, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3That's obviously not what he meant. If the new 3g iPhone can be unlocked like the current one, he could buy a new one and enjoy 3g on a better, more widespread network.
- GliTCH82, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2What makes his network more widespread?
- insertAliasHere, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1@GliTCH82
Well, from what I've heard, there's better data coverage in Europe, though I may well be wrong. I also could be wrong assuming he is from Europe simply based on the fact that he said he doesn't live in America,
I guess it was just a baseless assumption. To phrase it better, he could enjoy 3g on the network of his choice, be it for better or worse. How's that?
- insertAliasHere, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3That's obviously not what he meant. If the new 3g iPhone can be unlocked like the current one, he could buy a new one and enjoy 3g on a better, more widespread network.
- synyster, on 04/03/2008, -0/+13g chipset upgrade lol!
i can't think of any mobile company offers that service
- fangorious, on 04/02/2008, -4/+1your old iphone won't get a free 3g chipset upgrade
- Lounger540, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1I care too. God bless Manhattan.

- Subriot, on 04/02/2008, -9/+1This is why I hate being a first-gen owner :(
- kris33, on 04/02/2008, -2/+6Dude, it's like that with all technology. The current version of the iPhone is almost one year old and it's time for a new model. People wouldn't have complained if Nokia were coming out with a updated model for example or when Nvidia releases a new graphics card.
- shank2001, on 04/02/2008, -2/+4No one to blame but yourself. THink of it like this, you have had your iphone and enjoyed it for all of this time, while I have been tortured waiting for mine, which I insist be 3G! ;)
- Dumbledorito, on 04/02/2008, -3/+31 cell phone a year? That seems rather wasteful. I've yet to see a feature set or even "cool factor" that would make me either pony up the $$ or renew a contract to get a new phone every annum....
- shank2001, on 04/02/2008, -2/+4No one to blame but yourself. THink of it like this, you have had your iphone and enjoyed it for all of this time, while I have been tortured waiting for mine, which I insist be 3G! ;)
- gquaglia, on 04/02/2008, -4/+1I don't keep any cellphone for any long then 6 mos. When the 3g iphone comes out I will be just about due.
- locojones, on 04/02/2008, -1/+1Then you really need to go outside and meet some people.
- leftler, on 04/03/2008, -1/+2I have never had a phone for less than 2 years, what are you doing?
- BossKey, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1A lot of people do that...and it has dire implications for the electronics waste stream.
(Using my same phone since about 2003)- gquaglia, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Not really. I have always been able to find someone to buy my used phones.
- kris33, on 04/02/2008, -2/+6Dude, it's like that with all technology. The current version of the iPhone is almost one year old and it's time for a new model. People wouldn't have complained if Nokia were coming out with a updated model for example or when Nvidia releases a new graphics card.
- shockingbird, on 04/02/2008, -12/+31All four markets that have 3g can now rejoice.
- SRSco, on 04/02/2008, -4/+16More like 200 hundred markets. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, you should have 3G coverage.
http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/popUp_3 ...- scarycomp, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Unfortunately Omaha, NE has no 3G coverage. However, Nebraska does often feel like the middle of nowhere.
- Protoss, on 04/03/2008, -2/+1Well..it feels like that because it is.
- twrife, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Wyoming. Ya.
- Laxaloot, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Hey now... I go to school in springfield, missouri... which I'd say is a few miles out of the middle of nowhere, and I get 3g service here.
- Dumbledorito, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1No, it just seems like a cultural wasteland due to the proximity to Branson. Springfield does have a good selection of Asian cuisine, though.
- BossKey, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Wow, "200 hundred..." that's almost a quarter million markets!...
- timusca, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1two hundred hundred... did they change the number system?
- timusca, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2That's a ridiculous thing to say... I don't live in the middle of nowhere and the closest 3G access is an hour and a half away... in Columbia, SC. Augusta, GA and Charleston, SC are 2 nearby cities MUCH bigger than where I live and they don't have access either.
- scarycomp, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Unfortunately Omaha, NE has no 3G coverage. However, Nebraska does often feel like the middle of nowhere.
- Gryffydd, on 04/02/2008, -2/+1Hey, you can get 3G in Tenino, WA, http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=te ...
So it's definitely spreading - elpohl, on 04/02/2008, -0/+8US = World, not.
- Dumbledorito, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4To be fair, the rest of the world (meaning, "most other countries") have less geography to cover.
This is also why the US lags behind in broadband (among other things, most notably the greed-heads running the various means to get it in the first place) and anything else that requires a large infrastructure roll-out.
- Dumbledorito, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4To be fair, the rest of the world (meaning, "most other countries") have less geography to cover.
- Focher, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3I travel quite a lot around the world and regularly get a 3G signal.
- AndrewWiggin, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Travelers usually go to major cities, so of course you would get a signal when you travel.
- rumblestrut, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1That's preciously why I bought the bullet and bought an iPhone after the 16 gig model came out instead of waiting for 3G. I live in the middle of the country, and 3G isn't coming to my neck of the woods anytime soon. Stuck with EDGE (and, to be fair, ubiquitous WiFi).
- zerodefect, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Look around Boston, go an hour outside of the city and there's nothing. WiFi will be the best option for most for at least the next couple of years.
- brettmurf, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Preciously bought the bullet? I don't think I like the sound of your masochist ways.
- zerodefect, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Look around Boston, go an hour outside of the city and there's nothing. WiFi will be the best option for most for at least the next couple of years.

- pxlpshr, on 09/04/2008, -6/+8sweet! out goes the 8gb, in with the 16gb, 3G, GPS and games!!!!. sold.
- Mikey9oo, on 04/02/2008, -0/+7Well, there already is a 16 gb.
- jasmus, on 04/02/2008, -2/+3Nothing was said about GPS. In fact, nothing was really said about the iPhone. The article is VERY light on details, and is pretty much gossip.
- pxlpshr, on 09/04/2008, -1/+1i read elsewhere that GPS would be coming...
as for 32gb comments, while i'd love to see it... I have my doubts about 3G+32gb due to bulk... but certainly Apple is the company that can make it fit so here's to hoping. :)- jls33fsls, on 04/02/2008, -1/+4You heard GPS was coming eh?
Well, I heard that the new phone won't even have a screen, but it'll just project the images into the 3d space, but only you can see it because you get this special iEyeChip that makes it so only you, the owner, can see the image.
I mean, that is just what I heard.
- jls33fsls, on 04/02/2008, -1/+4You heard GPS was coming eh?

- akatsuki, on 04/02/2008, -1/+27Just return it.
- SwedishNinja, on 04/02/2008, -2/+41"Free upgrades for all current owners, Apple?"
Sorry, I haven't laughed harder at anyone's comments all day.- BryanJK, on 04/03/2008, -1/+2i agree, but they did give back $100 for early adopters before
- uberamd, on 04/03/2008, -1/+1i was being sarcastic obviously
- gquaglia, on 04/02/2008, -0/+4You have 14 days to return it.
- uberamd, on 04/03/2008, -1/+2-10% restocking... not worth losing $40, the EDGE is plenty fast
- BryanJK, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1Are you serious :P
I'd pay $40 for 3G

- Dumbledorito, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Thank you for paying the Geek Tax.
- xerofilter, on 04/02/2008, -7/+73I want an iPhone but does it work with a mac?
- m1zl3d, on 04/02/2008, -0/+37Sorry, It only works with FreeBSD.

- lateralus, on 04/02/2008, -3/+7and Vista Ultimo Extreme SP2
- simplenation, on 04/02/2008, -5/+6this might be a stupid question but if we get a 3G iphone and go to an area that only has EDGE. will the phone automatically switch to EDGE mode?
- SouthsideIrish, on 04/02/2008, -6/+14WTF! Are you serious? No, you phone will shutdown rendering it useless.
- locojones, on 04/02/2008, -11/+4Ladies and Gentleman, may I present your typical Apple user.....simplenation! duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
- piwy, on 04/02/2008, -0/+10As far as i've experienced, yes 3G phones gracefully degrade when not in 3G areas.
- dude111, on 04/03/2008, -1/+10there are no stupid questions, only really smart digg users who think they are smart.
- subliminalurge, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2I've owned several 3G capable phones, and live in an area that only has EDGE. All of them have worked just fine on the EDGE network. So, yes, there's every reason to expect that a 3G iPhone would fall back to EDGE when necessary (unless Apple does something REALLY stupid).
- TokenBlack, on 04/02/2008, -15/+1Are you really asking if an Apple product works with your Apple computer?
- logan074, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4Are you really missing his blatant sarcasm?
- m1zl3d, on 04/02/2008, -0/+37Sorry, It only works with FreeBSD.
- Idrive, on 04/02/2008, -9/+3I for one will be waiting for the refurb (cheaper) 3g iphone...
- asskicker32, on 04/02/2008, -1/+6(r0x0rz)
- gquaglia, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1You'll be waiting longer then Sprint users will be waiting for the Blackberry 9000.
- Dumbledorito, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Ribs.
- lateralus, on 04/02/2008, -0/+3Check woot.com, somewhere in the neighborhood of 2011.
- haooken, on 04/02/2008, -6/+5Great, so now we can rack up outrageous data charges even faster.... Seriously, the Telcos need to re-work their data plans to be more accommodating to higher-speed connections.
- CamperBob, on 04/02/2008, -5/+4Unlimited data is free on the iPhone. I assume that will remain the case on the 3G model.
- asskicker32, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2Why wouldnt you do unlimited? Its $19.99 on my blackberry.
- TH3W1R3D, on 04/02/2008, -1/+6Like asskicker said, its only 20 bucks for unlimited on AT&T. (For the iPhone too)
- yabos, on 04/02/2008, -2/+2It's not unlimited in almost every market where the iPhone is sold. The US has it lucky.
- HolyChimp, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Unlimited in the UK. I find it hard to belive Europe is behind us on that one.
- keithjinternet, on 04/03/2008, -3/+1NERD ALERT
- DavidGX, on 04/03/2008, -1/+1RETARD ALERT!
- BossKey, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Actually, one big reason I was going to switch to iPhone was the unlimited data plan...
- jasmus, on 04/02/2008, -1/+4Gossip anyone? "I heard from a guy....." Do sources come any more reliable?
- haooken, on 04/02/2008, -2/+3No, no, this was _the_ guy. Trust me *wink wink*
/sarcasm - jwkpiano1, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1FCC filing or it didn't happen.
- haooken, on 04/02/2008, -2/+3No, no, this was _the_ guy. Trust me *wink wink*
- TurboTuna, on 04/02/2008, -4/+4Untill apple release a press release, no dice. How would ATT know about this? Surely O2 would have been a better bet, seeing as 3G coverage in the UK is like air, its everywhere.
- gamabunta, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jh ...
"A new version of Apple's iPhone will be introduced in 2008 that is capable of operating on faster 3G cellular networks.
"You'll have it next year," AT&T (NYSE: T) chief executive Randall Stephenson told a group of stockholders and financial analysts at a Wednesday meeting in Santa Clara, Calif. " - SouthsideIrish, on 04/02/2008, -1/+7When things go out of stock at Apple Stores it generally means a refresh and the iphone is doing this now. Also, the phone no longer ships within 24 hours which is another indication of a refresh.
- piwy, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2Because ATT is sole partner on this in the US for another couple of years?
- zerodefect, on 04/03/2008, -0/+13G on the GSM networks in the US is a joke. Sure it's coming, but TurboTuna is right Apple needs to get a 3G unit out in Europe. I live in the US, but I understand that the phone won't do much if the cell carriers don't support it.
- TheYuppie, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah, as the UK has a helluva lot smaller footprint to cover under a wireless umbrella than half of North America does. How about that? People say too that, "oh, even the Isle Of Man has 3G!" Well *****! Somebody needs to go back and retake Geography. And Physics. And get new glasses.
AT&T has really ramped up its 3G game this year and we've only just started Q2- coverage is great. Furthermore, existing 1.8Mbps 3G towers are simply software upgradable to 3.6 and speeds well beyond 7.2Mbps. Wiki HSPA and learn why the CDMA carrier's game, on the contrary, is about up.

- jigeen, on 04/02/2008, -3/+3depends, how much are you selling it for?
- ThatGeek, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1yeah, ill give you 40 cents
and ill throw in an orange too.
- AceyS, on 04/02/2008, -2/+1Sweet! If my area had 3G..... I almost got jealous with my old and busted 2G iPhone... but if that is it? Woohoo! Won't have to upgrade for another 3 more months after that.... aww hell.
- drewfer, on 04/02/2008, -5/+3I still have the warranty on my current iPhone. Something might happen to it in the next few weeks....
- gamabunta, on 04/02/2008, -0/+9You'll just end up with a refurb 2G.
- HeavySausage, on 04/02/2008, -5/+2Still no words of built in GPS though. I really hate giving friends directions to where I am when drunk.
- locojones, on 04/02/2008, -0/+7Oh please, like we're supposed to believe that you go out or have friends.
- HeavySausage, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5Ok, so I don't have friends, but at least I don't have to pay for sex like you.
- tnoy, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4its not sex when its with your hand.
- HeavySausage, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5Ok, so I don't have friends, but at least I don't have to pay for sex like you.

- clope195, on 04/02/2008, -6/+4nice!!! now a few cities in the US can enjoy their 3G networks that verizon has had for years
- underburn, on 04/02/2008, -7/+6I hate to say it, but id gladly fork over another 600 bucks for JUST 3G
- Me1000, on 04/02/2008, -2/+2Because the iPhone totally costs $600 now!
[/obvious sarcasm] - asskicker32, on 04/02/2008, -3/+1hmmm... Dif'rent strokes...
- virtualball, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3Some people really do have too much money....
- rye425, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1I'd give 600 bucks for 3000 too! Hell of a deal.
- Me1000, on 04/02/2008, -2/+2Because the iPhone totally costs $600 now!
- llsethj, on 04/02/2008, -3/+1this is old news from last year
- taylorcarrigan, on 04/02/2008, -2/+1They could have come up with a better opening sentence..
- aaron117, on 04/02/2008, -6/+3Hold on.. What the jesus is 3G anyway. Do you have to get a new phone, or is the iPhone already "3G enabled".
I may sound like an idiot, but there is one thing i am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot.- blergle, on 04/02/2008, -0/+6You have to get a new iPhone.
- Haz3rd, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1No need for the Family Guy quote. 3G is like the broadband of the cell world. It's much faster than EDGE, which is like dial up.
- gtownplaya, on 04/05/2008, -0/+0:S i thought it mean 3rd generation.
haha
- BrendanSheehan, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2132GB 3G iPhone? Nice!
- SouthsideIrish, on 04/02/2008, -1/+1Does anyone make a 32gb stick? The iphone gets one which is why the Touch, which gets two, has a 32gb version.
- Haz3rd, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Nice, till the $700 price tag.
- blergle, on 04/02/2008, -5/+17Get ready for the world to stop turning as millions of fanboys simultaneously start back peddling over their stance on 3G.
You know - the ones that have been telling anyone who will listen that 'nobody needs 3G' as apparently 'EDGE is just as fast' and my personal favourite, 'the world has free WiFi everywhere'.- m1zl3d, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Well, I got my iPhone the day it released. I never stated anything like the above. Edge sucks. Everyone I've talked to who has the iPhone says it sucks. Steve Jobs has pretty much stated it "isn't as fast as he would like it to be".
I'm more worried about AT&T's 3G coverage or the lack thereof. I don't want to get a 3G iPhone just to find out that I can only get 3G in certain areas of town. That would be a waste. Edge coverage is everywhere however and you can surf as long as you have cell service pretty much. - AndrewWiggin, on 04/03/2008, -1/+2I think there are more people putting the iPhone down for not having 3G than there are iPhone users trying to justify it. What will the haters talk about now? (err, copy and paste still I guess)
- blergle, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Lets see... no copy / paste, can't search contacts (WTF?), no GPS, crippled bluetooth, can't use bluetooth GPS, can't change battery, have to take 18 month contract, can't expand the memory, no background apps allowed in SDK, the list goes on.
- zerodefect, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Where do you go there isn't WiFi? I live in the middle of nowhere and every business/home I go to has it.
- blergle, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1lol - I love you people.
- m1zl3d, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Well, I got my iPhone the day it released. I never stated anything like the above. Edge sucks. Everyone I've talked to who has the iPhone says it sucks. Steve Jobs has pretty much stated it "isn't as fast as he would like it to be".
- m.sandstorm, on 04/02/2008, -2/+2I'm not going to hold my breath until I hear some thing more official. It's probably true that ATT will have all their smart devices 3g in a few months, but if Apple doesn't deliver a new 3g iphone then they can't really do that. So now we're back to square one again. One thing is for sure. 3G iphone is definitely coming, we just don't know when.
"And now we play the waiting game." /hops in purse - latenightmac, on 04/02/2008, -3/+5You've got Europe to thank for the 3G iphone, as you USA boys have a small 3G network - here in the old country it will mean iphone sales through the roof. Please Mr. Jobs 32 gig, GPS, Video recording and higher mega pixel camera - oh what the hell 3G plus nothing else and I'm SOLD sign me up!
- emyo, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2And Australia will hopefully finally get there iPhone as we are on 3G. Yay.
- TheYuppie, on 04/03/2008, -1/+0No we don't have Europe to thank. Two things:
1) Europe is not saturated in 3G. Please open Google Earth and compare landmass sizes before you downplay the lack of 3G across every square American inch.
2) Check yourself: http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/popUp_3 ...
- theundone, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Awesome. I KNEW this would happen but I couldn't wait and went ahead and bought my iPhone 2 months ago....hmmm
- artfuldodga, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3I really feel bad for the early adopters. :S Not really
- BUrAph, on 04/02/2008, -1/+1People are gonna be saying that about you in a year's time : )
- Exedous, on 04/02/2008, -3/+0Anyone know how much they're going to cost?
- yabos, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Meh. I just got an iPhone in Canada and I don't even have EDGE service because Rogers rapes us for data use.
- tarv2, on 04/03/2008, -0/+0Ya, they have an unlimited data pack, but only for rogers approved phones, meaning iphones get raped
- edkennedy, on 04/08/2008, -0/+0Get the best plan for your phone, and don't give in to cellular extortion!

- InSectWar, on 04/08/2008, -0/+1http://www.dennis.ca/weblog/2007/11/16/using-iphon ...
Be wary of what data plan you have though, rape is the right word to use...

- jcannonb, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1I will upgrade as soon as it's out. Anyone want to buy a 1st Gen iPhone? :)
- woofers07, on 04/03/2008, -0/+8go ahead and throw in an HD DVD player and I'm sold.
- Tikisam, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1I can only imagine what Apple thinks of this. The CEO of AT&T confirmed in 2007 that there would be a 3g iphone this year, and is now giving out more info. Apple has its reasons for keeping products in the dark, and for AT&T to treat that confidentiality with such little respect has to be causing riffs between the two parties.
- jevandyke, on 04/03/2008, -1/+0I'm sure that the CEO signed a non-disclosure agreement with Apple that he's violating here. They've definitely got grounds for suing him.
- Haz3rd, on 04/03/2008, -3/+1God ***** damn it!! I was just about to but an iPhone after months of consideration.
*****.- peznex, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2I do not recommend it. Yesterday, my friend told me to but his iPhone. The iPhone won and my head was left with a nasty bruise.
- Haz3rd, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2Buy*
I'm very sorry Digg community.- peznex, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1You knew it was coming. It's all in fun. Check the 1st reply to the 2nd comment up top. I made a mistake, too.
- mannyqui, on 04/03/2008, -5/+2okokok, other than posibily being cheaper, why would I want a 3g iphone instead of my 8g? can someone explain waht the big deal is? this seams like a downgrade to me..... I need 80g on my iphone.... and now we're going to 3gigs?
- timlopez, on 04/03/2008, -0/+13You've got to be kidding...
- mannyqui, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1LOL Im' I dont work for apple and my question was serious, but I understand now..... My 8g Phone is not slow at all, and I have it full to the max.... but I understand how more space would cause a slow down... didn't think of that one before.... thanks!
- leprix, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5i want an 8g iPhone. that ***** would be fast. you must work for apple.
- Kamakazi15, on 04/03/2008, -0/+68g? I'm sure its fast but my god it can't be as fast as 80g. That must be insane.
- sherlock42, on 04/03/2008, -0/+2You couldn't possibly be in a time zone where it's still April 1st . . .
- emt1451, on 04/03/2008, -0/+4Oh for the love of god, please tell me you are joking.
- mannyqui, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1LOL Im' I dont work for apple and my question was serious, but I understand now..... My 8g Phone is not slow at all, and I have it full to the max.... but I understand how more space would cause a slow down... didn't think of that one before.... thanks!

- nycmac247, on 04/03/2008, -2/+2Keep talking, Apple haters... just like you always have...
- tlreeves, on 04/03/2008, -2/+0Keep buying a name instead of learning the technology.......like you always do.
- LukeyMI, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1It's not Apple I hate it's the company they chose to do business with. See my comment below. I'm still looking for a way to get out of my contract with AT&T before October without having to transfer the contract to someone else or pay them $200 (which I can't pony up all at once).
- zonk3r, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Hmm... This reminds me of other instances where some CEO comes out and says what Apple is or isn't going to do and then Apple goes and does it what it pleases. I do think it is quite likely though.
- harryterry, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1and to think that i just got my iphone. the battery better be better for the new model if they're going to be able to do that
- liquidhalcyon, on 04/03/2008, -0/+1Dammit, I just got my iPhone.
Keep this from permeating the interwebs so I can eBay mine current one right before the 3G comes out. - mcbridea88, on 04/03/2008, -2/+1I hope current iphone owners wont have to buy another iphone to get 3g network..
- emt1451, on 04/03/2008, -1/+4Uh, duh. It's totally different hardware. Why is everyone in this thread so stupid?
- alexgamerz, on 04/03/2008, -3/+1oh my, Kevin was right!
