- miyamotofreak, on 10/12/2007, -11/+12I suggest using Camino 1.1. It's pretty stable and it has many enhancements.
- koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13It actually crashed for me, and if it weren't for Google Docs' autosave feature, I would have lost all my work.
- OneManArmy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Camino Nightly builds can downloaded from http://www.caminobrowser.org/download/releases/nightly/
It _does_ crash but this is very rare (at least this is my experience). - sruffelman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Why would you use a new beta for doing serious work on web apps. That's just dumb.
- Applemacmad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So should I go with 1.0.4 or stick with the 1.1 beta I have?
- ckufggid1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Don't dig this ***** down! He's right. 1.1b is INSANE! FOOOLS.
- shadowmoses, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6About time!! 1.0.3 had been up for ages. They really need to get 1.1 out though, saying that the Beta has been pretty efficient for me so far and has shown low memory usage which is more than I can say for mac firefox.....
- supermajic, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Rock Lobster?
- mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Camino is great, but it's features always feel really bare to me.
- jmreid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a browser.
I love how Camino is lean and fast. I can't stand how chunky Firefox feels UI wise.
Plus Camino does some neat things, behaviour-wise, where as Firefox and Safari (especially) end up getting in my way more than helping me.
If I need the Web Developer plugin, i can load Firefox up. But my daily browser is Camino all the way. - PolarJammy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1PimpMyCamino is cool. The sad thing is that, my most favorite tool, CamiTools, is not available for release since the developer quit the project, and a new one took over.
- jmreid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a browser.
- arepeoplestupid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7WOW is camino fast, Opera Safari or FireFox do not even come close to the speed of the application opening or even displaying webpages, GO Camino!
- jcostom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I wonder if we'll ever see Google Browser Sync appear within Camino, even as an add-on.. After all, the lead developer on the project does work for Google after all...
- jcostom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9And this was dug down, why? Browser sync, well, really mostly bookmark backup is what keeps me using Firefox. I know about CamiTools, but ftp, come on. If it was sftp, I'd use it. Yes, I know CamiTools does FTPS, but properly securing FTP with its myriad of ports needed is an enormous pain.
I'd love to use Camino, but secure bookmark backup to a remote location is not negotiable for me.. Google lets me encrypt my bookmarks at least with browser sync... - jferrari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree - well I would prefer it if they could use .mac sync, this is the #1 reason why I use safari over camino.
- JEmerson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"And this was dug down, why?"
It's bad use of the system to mod instead of commenting, but I'm guessing that the reason is due to people who felt the differences in the architecture wouldn't allow it. Almost any advantage camino has comes from removing the ease of writing extensions in the first place.

- mojoe1185, on 10/12/2007, -1/+322.0 should be called El Camino
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6That's my favorite half-truck/half-car vehicle!
- 1jaxstate1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They better have a better way to move through tabs. The 3-key stroke just aint working. After saying that, Camino is my favorite browser!
- serpicolugnut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Do yourself a favor and get the 1.1 alpha. It's super stable, and has a lot more polish.
Camino is a great project. Back in the early days of OS X, it was the only browser that didn't totally suck. Back when it was Chimera, your browsing choices on OS X were: IE 5, iCab (or iCrap as I call it), OmniWeb (which was still using it's buggy rendering engine, and was super crash prone), Netscape Navigator 6 and Chimera. Chimera was stable, fast, lean, and had tabs.
All said though, I think that keeping Camino on the Gecko rendering engine is slowing the project down. They should really migrate to WebKit.- DuckRacer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Personally, I think the Gecko engine is one of the main attractions of Camino. Sure, it might not be extremely refined like Webkit, but it has WYSIWYG editing compatibility, more websites work with it etc etc...
- Rotorblade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Having the Gecko engine was what drew me (and others, I'm sure) to Camino in the first place. If I want to use WebKit I'll just stick with Safari.
Now if Camino would be able to take advantage of more extensions it would be perfect.
- OddPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love camino! I recently got my new iMac to replace a mac mini that died back in Nov. The first thing I did was go and d/l Camino!
Best browser for the mac. - diesel1218, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0never used camino, I basically need a different browser for my school's online class. Nothing works I have tried Firefox, Opera and Safari.
- CaptainFuture, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hope they got that "magically disappearing bookmark" bug fixed. I quite liked Camino only to discover one day all of my frekking bookmarks had completely vanished. I've never had that happen to me with even the most suckiest of browsers. The response at the time was to backup your bookmarks. ***** that. I'm back to Firefox and Safari.
- FearAndLoathing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I love the smell of updates in the morning!
- roberto_deneero, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Lame.
- alphatally, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Since moving to a Mac I have spent a good deal of time switching between browsers. I mainly use Safari but I also have Camino and Opera in my Dock. My big problem with browsers on the Mac is that for some reason the security setting mess up the frames in Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis Data basis when you use the back button. The only browser that I have been able to avoid this problem with is Opera. I guess it is just one of those right tools for the right job things.
- tileeater, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Added support for importing iCab 3 bookmarks"
I think they are focusing their efforts in the wrong area. Instead of adding features for everyone, they added this feature, for no one.- nandabanaotakun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Screw you. iCab rocks.
- zebesian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Updates to this browser are always welcome. I still want RSS support though :(
- lalanis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A camino theme for firefox, anyone?
- Litespeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://pimpmycamino.com/parts/theming
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Camino doesn't play nice with digg for me. When I digg a comment up or down, all text becomes dimmer. If I highlight a portion of a line of text, the whole line will return to normal but all other lines remain fainter than normal. The same problem exists in 1.0.4 and 1.1 beta.
- 1david1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, I have the same problem, 'tis a bit annoying.
- abalith, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Very useful. I swear i saw it on freshmeat or somewhere else.
