Danish Police Befuddled by 1G iMac

macobserver.com — The police wanted to confiscate the author's computer. When the author's roommate agreed to also let the police look at her first generation iMac, they were frustrated because they thought the iMac was just the screen. They wanted to know where the actual computer was and got rather heated about finding it.

Did they search for more PCs or network storage? Maybe the fraud was run off a PC booted from a live CD or flash drive so did they search the guy and his belongings for storage media?

      Really, there too many tech-illiterate noobs around the world creating and enforcing laws. Especially in the U.S., which is probably the biggest offender there (and also home to the largest amount of people who are clueless about computers).

    I can tell you, 90 of 100 non american cops won't buy "iMac, it is a computer" story especially if they are after some CC black hat. Also, the open wireless network makes complete sense to allow crime. I think Danes try to defend their country while there is nothing to worry about. It is simply, those cops have never seen Apple ads in their life.

Or they try to press the big round Dell logo as if it's a button. Makes you wonder how they turned the computer on the first time, and if it's been running the whole time they worked there.
    It's all part of a greater ongoing rant that the computer is a tool they need to do their job, why the heck don't they know how to use it??!?

        If you worked in a deli and had to use the meat slicer every day, I would expect you to know how to turn on the meat slicer and adjust the blade.
        If you were a photographer, I would have certain moderate expectations of your ability to change the lenses and adjust the aperture.
        And if you work in customer service sitting in front of a computer all day long,nobody should have to explain to you how to shut the computer off, how to drag and drop, and how to change the signature on your email.

        So tell me, when you accidentally open something in a second tab in internet explorer, do you throw your hands in the air and go "Aah! Something is different!" and then cry for IT/Tech support/Mommy to come and fix it? If you do, then you are one of the people I'm talking about, and you're an idiot.
