New survey: Vista cleans Mac OSX's clock
blogs.computerworld.com — Apple fans have made much of the fact that the newest figures from Net Applications show that Apple's share of the operating system market has jumped almost 32% in the past year. But they're ignoring a simple fact: Vista's market share during that same time leaped more than 355%.

- angelof, on 07/03/2008, -1/+1This guy loves to get Apple fans going. What a waste. Windows is the bestest OS there is and will ever be, we get it. Good for you. I prefer OS X, I must be absolutely bonkers.
- SteveMax, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Of course Vista grew a lot since one year ago, it had just been launched one year ago! It was on the market for six months, now it's been on the market for one and a half years - three times more; its market share grew by a similar amount (a bit more, but the fact that people had been waiting for SP1 explains it). Vista will keep growing as people buy new computers with Vista preinstalled and keep it by inertia. Some will revert back to XP, some will migrate to Linux, some will get Macs; but its market share will increase in a similar rate to the rate of hardware upgrades.
In another totally stupid comparison (but one that highlights how stupid this "article" is), Leopard had 0.00001% market share one year ago, now it has 7.94; that's a 79400000% increase! - longofest, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Comparing one Windows' release gains to all Apple gains? Someone needs a course in statistics.
- pbarbosa, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0why don't they compare the overall Microsoft / Apple / Linux / Others market? There is life beyond MS/Apple.
