      • lharrod, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I agree with brocklese. I always fumble with a little card and a little pencil on the course, or the pencil breaks, and I end up trying to sharpen it on a rock. Sure, I can use a pen, but the iPhone would be a quick, easy way to keep score. Plus, it can store your and your friends' scores for future viewing, and perhaps keep track of your growing skills (or in my case, stagnant skills!)

      • astrosmash, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Their iPhone-specific page isn't actually formatted for the iPhone, they just use gigantic fonts to work-around the iPhone's initial zoom-out. That's just dumb. There is actually a proper way to create iPhone web pages, and it's very simple.

This is the epitome of what people say when they say "iPhone apps are just web pages". Putting a banner IN your interface? Not even a one-line banner either, but a banner-ad banner. Yikes.

I'm in the midst of working on my own app launcher, but there's a lot of other good ones out there. Mojits.com (www.mojits.com), AppMarks.com (www.appmarks.com), Gridgets.com (www.gridgets.com), even Appleopolis.com (which I think also needs formatting help). This one mentioned even has full sized banner ads stuck in it... completely missing the point of the app altogether. Is everyone commenting friends of the author? I mean... seriously.

    I got a tons of links on WAP even Digg, PITA to use but I don't really care about going on website, its hurts my eyes and my neck. I only use the web on the phone in the bathroom.

    Still no UPC database linked to Froogles thought.
    no Yahoo Mobile, no Google Mobiles. etc.

"I didn't even think about that," replied on iphone customer, "I mean, its a phone, who would of thought it could be bricked like a psp by installing an app that overwrote the firmware."

I don't think you will see "all sites" start to aim their designs at what is currently less than 1 million users. What is that, probably around 0.01% or less of the web users?

  • inkhead, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Actually the best one so far was created by an Apple Employee (the site looks different on iPhone) but it's a directory of apps, and lets you customize your view so you can have a mini "app launcher" with the apps you choose. It looks really slick when browsing from the iPhone, I use it for pretty much all my iPhone apps now.

The day will soon come when the iPhone has so many apps (both cool and lame) that it will prove harder and harder for haters to doom-say this device. And again, as I always remind... this is only the 1st gen.

    Been a while since I played chess so I suck, but I remember the rules :)

    Pengas, you asked about RSS feed. Totally, use Google Reader on the phone. It shows you the mobile pages by default, but they're so readable on the screen, it's the best I've used so far.
