- Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1ROFL.. they make a video tutorial on how to shoot video but can't get the aspect ratio right on their stupid tutorial video itself!
Diggnation has the same problem... all related to default settings on the Mac software they're using, I'm sure.
Here's a hint, guys: When making videos for a computer and you're not going to bother to get the aspect ratio right TURN OFF Force ITU-R BT.601 so we can use our players to set the correct aspect ratio! - popetorak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Get a real computer, real software, and a real OS

Reading TFA, will digg or not digg afterwards. :) - popetorak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0yea, well i want to be a man like all the apple fanboys
- macpropodcast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks, Schrade, for your constructive criticism.
Unfortunately, aspect ratio appears fine on all of my computers . . . no option in either Final Cut Pro or QuickTime Pro to turn off Force ITU-R BT.601. We are using the standard compression method of Video for iPod . . . and had shot and edited in 24P advanced footage at a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Feel free to email me directly with any further comments.
: )- dlegal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0The Mac Pro Podcast is sweet!
- rtphokie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Awww, I dont have a mac so I cant make movies or pictures. Damn!
- dumpty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The aspect ratio is clearly normal on that video.
- macpropodcast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks, dumpty . . . I thought so.
- sebastiangomez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Perfect Ratio yep. and very good compression for the size of the file. I like it!!
I enjoyed the tutorial and will be watching for other shows you guys come out with. I'm also thinking of sending in some tutorials of my own. We'll see.
Good luck in the future and in getting those sponsors.

- Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The ratio is not perfect.. yeesh.
Here's a picture showing what it should look like. The original video frames are on the left, the corrected aspect ratio ones on the right.
http://img493.imageshack.us/my.php?image=macprocollage8cc.png - Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You guys who think the aspect ratio is fine probably would have no problem watching squished 4:3 video on a 16:9 or 16:10 widescreen tv. Ick.
Just say no to bad aspect ratios. - macpropodcast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Schrade:
Thanks again . . . I admire your purism. To be a video podcaster, it's best to adhere to the standard set up by Apple with their Video Podcast preset in QuickTime pro. I do see what you're pointing out, but for overall file size, frame rate, compatibility, and overall quality, the H.264 VIdeo for iPod preset is the best there is . . . and there are no tweakable options. - TonyG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You guys have way to much time on your hands....lol, but a digg for my fellow podcaster.
