- Clodagh, on 10/12/2007, -86/+20I hate Google video too Ireland, thanks for this!
- ZorboMan, on 10/12/2007, -22/+135How can you hate Google video? The video technology is far superior to YouTube's. YouTube does have better content and really nice profile options, though.
- Sandwiches_Time, on 10/12/2007, -18/+2Great, more "donkey dookie."
- Hickeroar, on 10/12/2007, -28/+17Hate google video? Better get used to it... Google bought youtube and i'd bet money the final format is going to mimic google video... How you can hate the people who pretty much pineered the "internet video site"...is beyond me.
- Wisgary, on 10/12/2007, -7/+124Yeah, I sure do hate a format that lets me ACTUALLY SELECT A POINT IN TIME IN THE VIDEO WITHOUT PROBLEMS, EVEN WHEN NOT YET LOADED, UNLIKE YOUTUBE.
- dirtmaster, on 10/12/2007, -16/+9mind if i SQUIRT you a song!

- ubergmr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32The link to the youtube video would of made a reasonable comment, there was no need to submit a new story
- gronne, on 10/12/2007, -34/+25Leo needs to cut down on the caffeine. Personally I love the Zune for two main reasons.
#1 - 30 Gigs of music for $14.99 per month (which can also be streamed to your Xbox 360).
#2 - FM Tuner. If you travel a lot, it's nice to hear a little news while you're stuck in the airport so the tuner is a big plus.
Also the screen is better. The only downside I found with the user experience is that the Zune software is slow. But hey, it's only on version 1.2 (as of today) so that's not so bad. - samnetwork, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Why do you hate Google Video? Is it because it's Google? Is it because Google is scaring the canoodles out of you? Yes? Well too bad! BTW Youtube = Gootube.
- strikerK, on 10/12/2007, -6/+32holy heck of a hockey stick
- davidsmero, on 10/12/2007, -23/+4Why is this ***** complaining? Bitching about the lack of features in the wireless. Hello, Earth to *****, the ipod doesn't have any wireless support. Boohoo it doesn't have a scroll wheel, seems a little biased to me. Bitching because it has a FM tuner? Thats just a feature, some people use it. I have both an ipod and a zune, both are great. His complaining is annoying, if you don't like it don't use it!
- llbbl, on 10/12/2007, -13/+8I think hate is a strong word. I prefer Youtube also over Google Video because on Google the video takes up the entire browser and the resolution is always crappy so the videos look bad. Google should keep their high res videos how it is now and change the rest of the low res stuff to be displayed like they are on Youtube, a 320x200 window size or whatever.
On the other hand, I think this video is great and /agree with Leo. Zune sucks. Rock on iPod. - jj00, on 10/12/2007, -7/+50Link to Google Video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6955826509104949255&q=leo+zune

- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9"Link to Google Video:"
True that, but I encoded the YouTube video differently to load faster, and I also added the second clip about the Zune's slogan that is omitted from the Google video. - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3"I think hate is a strong word. I prefer Youtube also over Google Video"
You're right, I didn't really mean hate, I should have said prefer, but that wasn't the only reason why I submitted the YouTube video. (comment above) - TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4"Hate google video? Better get used to it... Google bought youtube and i'd bet money the final format is going to mimic google vide"
Or they are gonna leave it alone and give complete freedom to the creators that made it popular to begin with. Why ***** with somehting when its not broken?
- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -18/+87i love the zune but i find it difficult to put it through my garbage disposal, its too big to fit in.
- Hickeroar, on 10/12/2007, -41/+5Since...yaknow...that made sense and all. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH I'M GOING TO PUT YOU IN MY GARBAGE DISPOSAL!!!
- Cytranic, on 10/12/2007, -17/+133Will it blend?
- samnetwork, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Microwave it first.
- mateo60, on 10/12/2007, -13/+10This seems be more a rant about how Leo hates DRM and the RIAA.
Right on. - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4That is the question?
..but being that it's made of rubber (apparently) the question should be: Will it bend?
- fanboydcs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+54wow that was awesome, I love leo.. He scared me a couple times! :-)
- IceDog, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33Yea, I like Leo too, but he seemed almost out of control at times there. I hadn't seem him that worked up before. Little over the top there. He's still ok in my book and I was never going to buy this anyway. Not a MP3 player type person.
- RevoltPuppy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23It's strange to see him in the ranting role of John C. Dvorak. I'm glad to see this, because he always seemed kinda wishy-washy on the topic when it came up on TWiT.
- SwabTheDeck, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22The Zune must really be as bad as he's saying for him to get so uncharacteristically worked up about it. One of my friends at work bought one and since then hasn't mentioned it at all. Another one encouraged his mother to buy one for his brother and I asked him if he hated his brother. His response was, "No, but Steve Jobs is a communist." The irony of his statement is that he's Chinese. Clearly, the Zune causes unpredictable behavior in people who otherwise behave normally. Is this a bug or a feature?
- mark_in_bc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I think he's looking for an invite to Cranky Geeks.
- wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That wasn't Leo... That was Sam Kinison impersonating Leo.
edit: I loved the Tech TV Sweater. - xigxag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This makes me want to see Leo on a video show again. I've loved listening to him on all his *casts and whatnots, but he does have a great on-screen performance.

- Optimus, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Ya, what are they up to now.. episode 5? Peh.
- Steaminx, on 10/12/2007, -17/+17The Zune is actually not that bad of a player. Minus the fact that they label you a criminal, the functionality is great.
- metalhead3767, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21yea well, the hardware is nice because Toshiba made it. If Microsoft could only figure out how to make decent software....
- zybch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27Thats what everyone is missing, including those ppl who think that Leo is bashing the Zune.
Hes not! Hes bashing (and rightfully so) the DRM limitations which have effectively crippled the player.
Go back to before this little rant, and you'll come across MANY instances of Leo actually praising the hardware. What isn't good is the DRM that has crippled the wifi aspect and the stupid point system the zune marketplace store uses.
Get rid of those 2 things, or make them as transparent as the competition (you know who I mean) and you have a very good product
I'm sure MS would have loved to release it with unfettered wifi (so you could sync etc) and without the 3-play system (or limit it to only zune marketplace songs) but I think they basically had to bend over for the music labels or say 'goodbye' to a whole heap of content!
Its just unfortunate that by bending over and taking it cold and deep, they also bent over their customers by proxy as well :(
When it comes down to it, thats really the only negative thing about the Zune, and was probably something MS didn't have complete control over.
Having said that, I have no plans to buy one. My cheapass little 2Gb $60 player from china does everything I need an MP3/4 player to do.
AS for the click wheel thing, well since apple has trademarked/patented it NOBODY can legally use it! - Videlicet, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3iTunes gives money to Universal as well (isn't it somewhere around 88 cents per track?). I know it's not for the hardware, but it's not like any songs on iTunes are DRM free.

Perhaps I'm not picking something up...how does anything he said means Apple and the iPod are going to end DRM? - sagivh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You said it the best way steaminx...the zune is great player - if you love music then the zunepass is a great addition!
but the fact that they label everyone as criminals is insulting, its taking tachnology back and its making great features useless.

- busterti, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1its lame that if it ain't an ipod apple fanboys don't like it. I heard it was a great player but had some problems... ok next article please!
- popfrogs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11No, what's lame is what Leo already mentioned..that Microsoft started with a decent little me-too player but after the committees got done with it, it was so crippled it never should have been released. Squirted songs time out in 3 plays or 3 days? WTF? What if I just squirted someone a podcast that's freely available on the web? ***** DRM, don't buy any products this crippled. Send the message.
- bigtrouble77, on 10/12/2007, -13/+25That was a friggin' brilliant review.
- JeffH, on 10/12/2007, -23/+10Not really. I've seen better fanboy raves from random internet forums.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17JeffH, you really ought to ditch that MS Office logo from your avatar. It makes you look a bit obsessive.
- garyc83, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36I can't get over the fact that MS pays Universal for the hardware itself.
Too bad, looks like Zune is missing some common sense relative to its features.- Videlicet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I might be totally wrong, but perhaps the reason that Universal is paid $1 for every Zune is for the preloaded content (music and music videos) that comes on the Zune. Does anyone know if this is correct?
- readme, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28I'm glad Leo took a stand on this. He was flip-flopping on TWIT and Windows Weekly between supporting and canning it outright. The Zune Reviewer's agreement was the first thing that pissed him off, then the Universal payola. On Windows Weekly Paul Thurrott tried to brainwash him with the "multi-year strategy" angle that Microsoft fanboys are using to defend the Zune.
Looks like in the end he saw the Zune for what it is. A me-too device with crippled WiFi. It's good a public figure like Leo is telling people not to buy it. RIAA kickbacks set a bad precedent for the entire industry.- geekee, on 10/12/2007, -20/+7"Looks like in the end he saw the Zune for what it is. A me-too device with crippled WiFi."
The iPod is a me too device as well. It's wi-fi is much more crippled than the Zune, and the engineers thought that a giant click wheel was a better feature than a bigger screen. - Agret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@geekee
The iPod doesn't have wi-fi, you must be thinking of some cheap imitation iPod. - superkendall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@geekee: With the iPod, you may not have WiFi but you can actually share music for good by simply mounting it as a hard drive and copying off the files. Since you can't do that with a Zune, the iPod minus WiFi features are still far better for actual sharing.
As for the screen, the iPod has a longer battery life. How often are you looking at your screen while playing music?
The Zune is more of a video device optimized for playing back music. Pick one thing, and do that well. - kfconme, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@geekee
do you know what a me-too product is? http://www.moneyglossary.com/?w=Me-Too
last time I checked, the iPod is what made Mp3 Players, Mp3 Players. And it's even pushed the Mp3 player aside and created a Portable Media Player.
We all know Microsoft is just looking for a piece of the (as I like to call it) sweet Apple pie. It's actually a bit funny, Microsoft, a software company, developing a "Division of Entertainment & Devices" last year, and from the get-go, decide to tackle some of the biggest, most popular, markets: video games, and now with the Zune this year, portable media players. - baddmojoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"you must be thinking of some cheap imitation iPod."
I think you need to recalibrate your sarcasm detector.
However, to say that the iPod is a "me-too" device does seem a bit ridiculous... kinda like saying the Windows is the "me-too" OS... sure there were predecessors, but it's the dominant product now.
*edit* - I now see my response is somewhat unnecessary... need to refresh that browser window more often. - GNUGNOME, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@superkendall
I have no way to substantiate this other then articles Ive read, but i have read that the zune software allows users to right click a song, and copy to the computer, the ipod requires you to hunt through odd files and find the cryptically named mp3s. - DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"but i have read that the zune software allows users to right click a song, and copy to the computer"
Well you've read things that are not true, the Zune software doesn't allow such thing, and you can't even do the iPod hack you're describing, since the Zune is an MTP only device and the songs are stored inside a secured media vault.
- geekee, on 10/12/2007, -20/+7"Looks like in the end he saw the Zune for what it is. A me-too device with crippled WiFi."

- MikeBasinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.zune.net/en-US/social/. The idea is since you can share songs, your Zune is a social device.
Bleech, there is a reason the Zune comes in brown. - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The ad campaign was centered around the slogan "Welcome to the social".
- cavicster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That slogan makes me feel embarrassed for them. Really bad idea.
- stoppedcode12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Microsoft should really explain what "welcome to the social" means, because right now, they seem like they are trying to hard to find a slogan that sounds deep and meaningful and crap.

Now, if only apple would give the ipod that same big screen the zune has and wifi that is actually useful- Sargasso_C, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wait 'til January 9.
- sole, on 10/12/2007, -16/+19I think Leo was paid to say this. Honestly, the Zune is getting a bad wrap for no reason.
- greekgoat91, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7yea, it's odd. during an episode of Twit, Leo admitted that he actually liked the player but hated the software. Why did he all of the sudden change his mind?
- hexix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20Huh? Did you listen to the video. Everyone critical of the zune has very good reasons.
1.) One of the most-advertised features is WiFi, but all you can do with it is let it wrap your music in DRM and give it to someone else. Don't put WiFi as a spec if your users can't actually use it as they do with other WiFi products.
2.) Money goes to Universal, regardless of whether you already paid Universal for the music you own (or you don't and will not own Universal music). That's insane, and people should not support it.
Microsoft will probably fix these things and then people will complain that Leo was paid by Microsoft because he likes it. - drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Maybe cause the hardware isn't that much of the issue. It has the wifi, the large screen, and the storage space but the software makes it a pain in the ass to work with and put things on it and the wifi is there but not even put to any good use. Then you have the DRM (software) that everyone here for the most part hates. He was insulting the software not the hardware. Maybe the clickwheel thing is an issue but thats patent related and not really the big issue anyways.
TBH I would consider buying a Zune if I could install linux on it which says something about the product. - hukedonfonix, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1burry
- Goldenatom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Can we stop making crazy claims like this? Who would pay him? Apple? You think apple cares about the zune? Where would apple, a public company, disclose such an expense? Do you really think a person like Leo, or any other public figure that makes their living from their integrity would really do something like accept money? It's on some fairly lame holiday episode on "In Digital." Come on...
- MikeBasinger, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Zune could be cool if someone could get a firmware on it that un-cripples the wifi, and adds more audio/video formats.

are you saying Microsoft makes software that is difficult to hack? - stmiller, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3We need Linux on the Zune: play all audio formats, WIFI browser with Opera to check your email around town, games, use as a storage drive. A totally DRM-free portable device. Come on, Linux- save the Zune!

- SirBotchness, on 10/12/2007, -13/+6Duplicate, and he only hates it for its digital music rights crap, yet the ipod has that too. But i guess since its anti-zune it must belong in the apple category.
- zip22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18no, he hates it because:
-the clickwheel doesn't turn
-the wifi can't do much
-squirted tracks have drm
-microsoft pays universal.
the ipod does not have those issues. - BlackCow, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Um .mp4? Yeah Apple has DRM, if Microsoft wouldn't stoop to apples level with DRM and they would allow free song transferral and WiFi that allowed you to surf the web and even buy songs then they would have dominated the market. Why an I not working for Microsoft seriously, I know what people want.

- computerdude33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It was submitted to the Apple section instead of one of the Video sections.
- JorgeGonzalez, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30I bought a Zune last night for my father as a Christmas present and I've been loading the ***** out of it with music and movies. I own an iPod myself and if I had to start over, I'd go with the Zune. Leo kinda spells it out at the beginning; hardware-wise, it blows away the iPod video. The only thing the iPod has is a slimmer body. The interface blows away the iPod. I didn't understand Leo's "18 clicks" complaint because it's not like the iPod is any better.
Leo's complaints are with Microsoft's backdoor shenanigans, not the device itself. If you know what you're doing when it comes to downloading music and videos, a Zune is the best choice in my opinion.- djscooterb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So you are loading a Zune that you are giving to your Dad with your music library?
What was your name and address again? - JorgeGonzalez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I already gave 'em my $1.
- djscooterb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So you are loading a Zune that you are giving to your Dad with your music library?
- robinator08, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Kind of a lame story / video. Really demeaning to himself to even speak in that tone, which really makes me want to respect his opinions.
- dgaspard, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Zune uses HD instead of flash doesn't it? If so, does the HD get damaged if it's getting accessed while someone is running or when it is being tossed around?
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2For the same reason why the ipod's hard drive doesn't get damaged while reading if it's being tossed around. The drive head is positioned just above the platter, and the movement is absorbed by pads or springs.
- commandar!, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@chicken101
No. It has far more to do with the fact that the player only spins up the drive to cache songs to RAM, then stops the drive and parks the head away from the platter.
This means that the head is over the platter only for a few seconds every few songs, minimizing the chance of shock causing impact. - kaelyiesta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Both of you are right sorta. The HD spins up infrequenty, mostly for battery life reasons though, and the head has some absorbtion. Also, when the device is violently shaken the head moves off the disk to prevent damage to it.
- Dude757, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Ok that was funny, A little over the top from the regular Leo but funny
by the way, I love my Ipod - MeThePeople, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6i dont get why the zune is always compared to the ipod, like the ipod is the definitive mp3 player that all others should copy just not to much or youl get sued. who would use the fm radio on a mp3 he ask? i dont know maybe someone who dosent want to carry 2 device to listen to music. why dosent the button spin? i don't know maybe cause its not an ipod. why is the wifi restricted to sharing mp3s? because who the hell would surf the web on a mp3 player with no keyboard. why is shared music have use restrictions? well hes complaining that some of the proceeds go to universal, well imagine if everyone was just walking down the street handing out pirated music. Microsoft would be sued into the ground. the facts are its an mp3 player, it has a screen, plays music, it does the job it was meant to do plus some. he has no real reason why the zune is a bad player, hes a ipod fanboy. and before someone says well your a zune fanboy i dont own a zune or ipod. i have used both and yes even the great and mighty ipod has its flaws.

In fact, it says, Ritalin "...was initially prescribed as a treatment for depression, chronic fatigue, and narcolepsy, among other ailments."
Not quite my definition of a wonderful chill pill you want to be lobbing at someone who seems wound up a little bit tight at the moment. Might as well tell him to down two cups of coffee really fast so he can relax.
By the way, I think it was really cool they way he made us all think he was going to break it and then did not.
- jmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think I'll just wait 'til they have a product that is a PDA/cell phone/MP3 player/calendar/USB stick/etc that is as convenient and simple to use as the Ipod.
- commandar!, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sony Ericsson makes several phones that do just what you describe very well.
- civperc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Damn Leo, calm down man.
- dandarie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Let me see... there's a movie (boring, I bet) you've seen on Google Video, but you don't like them Google Video so you decided to download and it upload to YouTube. Hence, you need a life (away from computers).
- inf4my, on 10/12/2007, -15/+10Leo Laporte = Biggest Apple Fanboy ever
the zune click wheel doesnt spin because Apple patents every little thing they do. Hey how come you dont mention how Apple lost a lawsuit from creative for stealing their interface?
the zune has a radio and you ask who will use a radio, well how does that make it inferior to an iPod it doesnt at all.
The Screen is bigger and your always bitching about getting a widescreen iPod on TWIT so STFU
The wifi is restrictive....and? Apple DRM's there songs too whats the problem? im sure the RIAA would love it if everyone could share their songs free of restrictions and Microsoft would love a big fat lawsuit.
Learn howto be an objective reporter. You cant dislike the zune for features that arent exactly to your liking and then support a player that doesnt support any of these features. Last time I checked Apple has DRM, iPod doesnt have a wide screen, iPod doesnt have a radio, iPod cant share music for any period of time. So you have to disregard those when comparing the two.- kfconme, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6Public radio is pretty much dead. look in just about any car and you'll see an XM or Sirius mounted. If not, There's an ipod with infinite podcasts to enjoy.
I guess you've heard nothing of the next gen ipod.
He is an objective reporter... and obviously you wouldn't be. Also he isn't reporting much, he is obviously stating an opinion with hard facts to back it up.
The ipod is the market leader for a reason. - Endies, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3You are my hero. Apple fanboys realize that the IPod isn't the only good mp3 player on the market. The Zune has done a lot that the IPod hasn't and all you do is ***** on it for no reason. Open your eyes and pull your IPods out your ass.
- JohnnySoftware, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, if you have a problem with companies patenting every little thing they do - got take a look at the annual patent statistics by company. IBM and Microsoft are up at the top with thousands of patents per year. Apple is never even mentioned. Right?
Apple and Creative Labs did get into a tussle over their UI "ingenuity". It sounds like Creative came out slightly on top, but lawsuits were being traded like baseball cards at a swap meet.
http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/23/apple-and-creative-settle-apple-forks-out-100m/
Creative applied for the so-called "Zen patent" in January 2001. That predates the ship date for Apple's iPod but not by much. Given the length of R&D cycles, it sounds unlikely that Apple built their iPod around information in the patent filing or any shipped Creative Labs product. The outcome simply seems to mean that Creative got its ticket punched first by the patent office, and Apple had to pay tribute to that.
http://www.creative.com/zenpatent/
Also, if you follow the news closely, that is not the only thing that Creative had shipping on the Zen before Apple did on the iPod. Go back and look at the iPod news for September. Caveat emptor. No Macs were harmed by this incident or the earlier one, fortunately. - Petronski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1***the zune click wheel doesnt spin because Apple patents every little thing they do.
Understand the complaint: if it can't work like a spin wheel, then making it look like a spin wheel without that functionality is idiotic. Apple came up with the spin wheel and patented it. Microsoft should come up with their own nifty interface device and patent that, not just produce a cosmetic copy of something they know they can't make fully functional. - Petronski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1***The wifi is restrictive....and? Apple DRM's there songs too whats the problem?
The zoon adds DRM to anything you try to share with another zoon user (if there were one), even if the original is public domain. That's even dumber (and more insulting to the user) than the ridiculous look-alike spin wheel.

- broomett, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Hey, *****! They changed Digg for a reason. So that people who don't want video stories don't have to see them.
One insignificant person not liking the Zune does NOT make it an Apple story. And guess what diggers...99.9999% of people have no ***** idea who LEo Laporte is.
Put your worthless submission in the VIDEO section where it belongs.- Optimus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Your mother wears combat boots!
- kfconme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Just hope Zune doesn't squirt any viruses.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That's not a problem, because no one is buying it.
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Digg has a video section now...
- TheZorch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Oh please, oh please, oh please let the Zune spell the death of DRM and the RIAA's *****.
That would be my favoritest Christmas present of all time.
I hope and pray it happens because this crap has gone way too far already.- klawz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Don't worry it wont. Too many "sheep" continue to buy both the ipod and zune - and not smart enough to buy mp3 players that don't support DRM.
- Krakn3Dfx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Leo hitting the sauce there a little? Wow, I love Leo, but holy smokes!
At least he didn't fall over I guess. - SgtCrispy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Preach it brotha! Nice to see Leo speak his mind.
- conto1987, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Leos got his head so far up his ass with this one

- imagine, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10Leo Laporte practically works for apple... This is the gayest video I've seen in my life.
And the comments are to die for: "Leo is right!" Blah blah blah... This site has been advertising apple nonstop, yet it is only "spam" when it is some other company's ad which gets through. Haven't you realized that this site is not a legitimate source of reviews/opinions? It is FUNDED by APPLE. (I see an apple section... yet no section for any OTHER companies... I guess that means apple is cool right? It is a "topic" in and of itself. Give me a break kids, get a life. The only thing apple ever had going for it was its marketing and the idiots who fall into it.)
Lastly, can anyone see any parallels with what Sony is doing with that PSP website? Because it looks like pretty much the same tactics to me!- conto1987, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3thank you
- kfconme, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Wow, you really did your research when posting that, huh?
apple has always been the "worse" of two "evils." ipod revolutionized apple and the way people listen/collect music. and it JUST so happens their computers are amazing too. Psh, If anyone should get a break, it's the apple owners, not you ignorant fools. pick up a g5 and tell me what your big problem is.
Parallels? the only parallels I see are you pointing fingers at Sony and Apple, since that's all I see on Digg nowadays. - imagine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5They didn't 'revolutionize' anything. Other companies have (and did already have when the ipod first came out) superior products. All they did was give it a prettier face, so little girls could beg their mothers to buy it.
But apple did revolutionize one thing... adding little features every 6 months, making it seem like a HUGE revolution!
They make it seem like they are making superior products, and "not" paying the record labels licensing fees, when really, they ARE, they just call it 'wholesale' music buying. They still pay licensing fees, they just have it all on one bill. - kfconme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm sorry, but there wouldn't be a Zune if Apple hadn't made iPod. Napster made Mp3 a household name, iPod made Mp3 Player a household name, that's the reality of it. Microsoft just thinks they have a chance in beating them at their own game, Apple's iPod is the leader, whether you or M$ likes it or not.
And you are wrong with the licensing agreement. the iTunes store is in the top 5 Music/Media sales on the web, all of Apples licensing parties aren't getting NEARLY as much as Universal will be getting from M$. It has been quoted at $1 peer device. And the reason being is due to Zune not having a music store... and it having zero popularity.
look before you speak. http://aapl.bloggingstocks.com/2006/12/11/report-no-many-ipod-owners-use-itunes-store/
- RevHelix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3DRM? Whats that? It should be DNRMM - Digital No Rights Miss-Management
I haven't had any issues thus far getting media onto my
iPod or any other device for that matter.
If you are having issues, your doing something wrong.
But I do agree with Leo, just tossing money to a media company
for no real reason aside from SUSPECTED reasoning, that's a no go.
Will everyone who buys a iPod/Zune/etc. pirate music, NO.
But lets punish the innocent anyway. And since no one can truly
tell who is stealing and legitimate, one can't punish, or at least here in
Canada where we have to pay a levy and are guilty by default, gives me
every right to take music.
Leo was a little over the top, it was entertaining, but that is his JOB!
We may enjoy Leos segments, but know who his real customers are,
people that want to get informed who know nothing. We keep him in
check at best. - brianbennett, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Is it just me or does Leo seem really out-of-character here.
I don't disagree with anything said... but he's usually more articulate. - unpopulardude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well Leo, as soon as the Linux hacked version comes out, tell us how you like it. Apparently it won't be long until someone has good Linux software for it. http://www.zunenewssite.com/2006/11/16/zune-can-run-linux-wired-news/1179/
Hey, Larry Ellison! You guys at Oracle are getting into Linux now, right? You don't really like Microsoft that much right? - Macam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's nothing new for anyone that listens to Twit and co., but the video's still amusing enough to warrant a digg.
