Actually, that trend follows for used MacBooks and MacBook Pro laptops (as well as Mac Pro and iMacs) -- Apple products have just an insane resale value (compare used MacBooks with used Dell, Acer, Toshiba etc. laptops).

Mine was still barely under warranty so I went to the Apple store and told them it was randomly restarting (which it did a couple times). They gave me a replacement one. Then I turned right around and bought the new one. Sold the 1st Gen one on ebay a couple days later for almost twice the price of the new one.

Really easy to do actually.

- Galaxylander, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2There aren't any 'iPhone 3G' issues, AT&T has essentially been proven to be the problem, set the iPhone 3G to Edge and it's exactly the same as your old one with a bit *better* reception with WiFi and Edge. Most of the problems are with 2.0, the only reason I can see to buy an older iPhone is for software < 2.0.

Some 3G iPhones are evidently back-lit with a yellowish light instead of a white light. I'm wondering if that has been corrected, or if that's something that Apple will never fix. There's just no compelling reason to "upgrade" - unless cheap plastic, a bulkier unit, tons of software glitches, connectivity problems, and draconian AT&T service terms are something to be desired. I'll say one thing for this original iPhone: it may be a bit slow by comparison to the 3G unit, but at least it always works.

I decided to put it on ebay when it became more hassle to mess with the buttons last week and it sold for $200 which surprised me quite a bit. But it got me a 3G 8gb so I'm not complaining.

Considering all the 3G conneciton issues, the software lags that still exist, the need to buy programs, via the apple store, that are included on other similar priced phones, no "MMS", no "Bluetooth" & being forced to pay $15 extra per month for a service (3G) that's unreliable at best. Please, someone explain this to me, I'm a long time apple user & I can't for the life of me figure this out. Don't people read & do research before buying.?
