- Eminemdrdre00, on 07/08/2008, -41/+24I hate the "awesome" bar. I did however DL FF3 @ home and work just to support their "download day".
- Jpardue, on 07/08/2008, -2/+28about:config
- Eminemdrdre00, on 07/08/2008, -25/+7It doesnt make it 100% like FF2.
- cowman80i9, on 07/09/2008, -12/+1right on! im still on ff2 but i dl'd ff3 for their day too thinking i was about to use it. i hate the awesome bar, i am used to the search bar
- Gzero, on 07/09/2008, -1/+17I love the autocomplete on the awesomebar.
I didn't like some parts of Fx3 at first, but after I got used to them I was fine.
Just need to be willing to accept change. - Whaines, on 07/09/2008, -1/+11Learn how to use the awesomebar correctly and you'll love it. You can always turn it off if you don't like it anyway.
- MavRevMatt, on 07/09/2008, -1/+12I didn't like the AwesomeBar at first, it just takes a little getting used to the way it functions.
If you don't like the appearance try https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/622 ... .
And if you don't like the way its suggestion priority, like I did, check out Lifehacker, http://lifehacker.com/396603/tweak-the-awesomebars ... , along with some misc. awesomebar tweaks. http://lifehacker.com/396517/four-extensions-that- ... - Smills, on 07/09/2008, -1/+4Are you serious? - Eminemdrdre00, on 07/08/2008, -6/+54I am using adblock (see bottom right corner)..Im not sure how that ad snuck in there!
- jjb123, on 07/09/2008, -4/+28son of a bitch.
- str1fe, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2I've noticed that Yahoo's main page is good at that. I've had to manually block a lot of them from there.
- billbugger, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1Better then adblock: NoScript (well they work awesome together!)
Blocks all javascript from executing, then you can allow certian websites permission. It's basically taken out most ads, adblock does the rest. It's a good way to ensure yourself against iframe attacks.
- CDWMobile, on 07/08/2008, -7/+65Dugg the entire story because of your comment...
- bigmac375, on 07/09/2008, -0/+36Why not just digg parts of it?
- dullnation, on 07/09/2008, -38/+79Who the hell cares if he uses Firefox 2? It isn't affecting you. It's his choice.

- Ockniel, on 07/09/2008, -11/+3Windows + D = ctrl + M
ctrl is easier to reach with your pinky than windows if you ask me :) - Agret, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4CTRL + M does nothing for me.
- LeRenard, on 07/09/2008, -2/+6What is this windows key you mention?
- kinggimped, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5It's not CTRL+M, it's Windows+M.
Windows+M = minimise all windows
Windows+D = toggle desktop
The difference between them is that Win+D is a toggle command, so it basically minimises everything, then restores everything as before if you press it again.
The more you know!

- Jpardue, on 07/08/2008, -3/+27it is because yahoo.com is telling you to wait to get the new iphone so that would leave you to believe that Google would be the default search engine

- nellyspageli, on 07/09/2008, -3/+20i cant believe you actually had to explain that
- Spuy767, on 07/09/2008, -3/+2It's funny, but I think that the situation is actually the reverse. Yahoo! is authoring and hosting anti-apple articles because Apple prefers a superior search engine.

- bhavinp, on 07/09/2008, -4/+7they have a clean version too, its actually not a bad search engine. I'm just so used to iGoogle, i dont feel like changing over now. It has predictive searching and it even allows you to play youtube video without going into youtube, kinda convenient. But too lazy to switch meh.
- chroko, on 07/09/2008, -5/+17If you want the equivalent of the Google front page, you want this: http://search.yahoo.com/
Yahoo pre-dates search engines. It has always been an index of everything. eg: here it is in 1996: http://web.archive.org/web/19961017235908/http://w ...
Also, for a start page there is http://my.yahoo.com/ - make it as clean or as cluttered as you want.- AndrewWiggin, on 07/09/2008, -2/+6The fact that they chose to have their default page to be cluttered tells me more than the fact that they made an option for the select few that are looking to use Google with a Yahoo skin on...
- cwmather, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5All that is great. But the real reason for Yahoo's success is what happens when you click the exclamation point.
- archer104, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1@cwmather

"In February 2003, AltaVista was bought by Overture Services, Inc.[12] In October 2003, Overture itself was taken over by Yahoo!. In August 2004, shortly after Yahoo!'s acquisition, the AltaVista site started using the Yahoo! Search technology."

- frascellyboy273, on 07/09/2008, -2/+5the sad thing is that its the most viewed site in the world, mostly from people too dumb or lazy to change their homepage...
- ej1oo1, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2or use it for mail...
- Giga, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5To lazy to change? What was it doing as the default to start with? Safari defaults to apple.com, Firefox defaults to a skinned Google, IE defaults to their localised msn whatnot... and I don't know about Opera. What causes the majority to default to Yahoo!?
- xsecretfiles, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1I have yahoo as my homepage, because I like their featured news coverage
like that one lol
I do have a gmail account and msn and whatnot. I just love yahoo's main page - hatchetbearer, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1I use YIM, and when you install it, if you arent paying attention, you now have the homepage and the toolbar. Also any subscribers to ATT yahoo internet (most of Ohio and other midwest) it will set it automatically
- Carnage6669, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2Well if you get AT&T/SBC DSL, Yahoo is the default search engine... assuming that you installed all their software.
- pauliusuza, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5Mom?

- peestandingup, on 07/09/2008, -1/+20People that have been using them since the 90s who hate change is all I can figure.
- HolyChimp, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8I've been playing around with the Flock beta (seems pretty nice btw) and they use yahoo as the default search, so I used it for a few hours before I looked up the about:config tweak to get it back to google.
It just didn't seem right, no idea why, but google is where it's at. - edcrosay, on 07/09/2008, -1/+12I don't use it for searching, but their sports section is pretty awesome and their news dept. is okay.
- blakck, on 07/09/2008, -1/+14As a sports fan, I find the Yahoo Sports site to be quite good. It's not as bloated as SI or ESPN and I can find stats and things I need rather quickly. Also Yahoo Movies isn't half bad for checking a review or box office numbers.
- Ryman21, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6I do, just because I like the Sports section and having the 5 - 6 main news points right there is convenient enough.
- 808ethan, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8Yes, most digg users are isolated from the true ignorant masses of the world, so its easy to forget about them. Remember, their votes count just as much as yours!

- seraph582, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1eh? You know you wouldn't regret changing to gmail. It makes a fool of yahoo mail. I used my yahoo mail acct back in the day- totally not gmail caliber.
- Niallgriff, on 07/09/2008, -1/+67Dude, people still ***** use AOL.
- erossmu, on 07/09/2008, -0/+9This seriously blows my mind. I can't even begin to understand why anyone would ***** use AOL still.
- lordrahl, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8because some users still think AOL IS the internet....
- billbugger, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1@lordrahl: Back when AOL was big, many people i knew didn't know what the internet was. They thought AOL was the W.W.W. Thank god that has mostly changed.
- thadoggfather, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5yahoo as a search engine is actually still very usable, there is sometimes quite alot more results or differences compared to google. Google is great, but when you just cant find that tutorial or that mysterious RPM out there in the world Yahoo has saved me a few times. Besides search engine Yahoo news site is quite good, not only the sports page but everything else in it.
One thing i hate about yahoo is their omg.yahoo.com site that is horrible; its quite funny to look at actually but its horrible for humanity. - stillboy, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Yahoo has a lot of content on thier site, as far as search... no, but - they have an aweful lot of resources. real estate listings, tv schedules, news, movie times trailers and reviews, its a pretty good resource for info on a lot of things.
- nittanylion06, on 07/09/2008, -2/+4So long as GMail keeps its obnoxious restrictions on what sort of files can be attached to an email, I'll keep my Yahoo mail account.
- erossmu, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1I haven't run into any restrictions... but I usually only send word documents over gmail. Anything else I just send to my linux server.
- lordrahl, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1just rename the file to a .txt send it, and then rename it again. works every time.
- billbugger, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Yeah, i can't seem to send my virus infested spam out either. what gives gmail?
- desertDenizen, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Yes, for 2 things exactly: basic stock research, and movie grades. I've found that I'll almost always enjoy a movie if it gets a B- or better in either critics' or user reviews. Of course, the higher in either, the better. High scores (A- or better) in both almost always means it's an awesome film.
- r3vmixman, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6Yahoo has the best news material online, so yeah i still use it.
- walkerdarin2003, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1The only reason people use it, is because it is their default web page when buying a crap vista computer. These people don't know any different and continue using it.
- FutureGuy, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2No actually the whole world using Google, infact there is no internet anymore, just Google. /s
- kidal25, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1i like it for fantasy football
- str1fe, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Actually, my mom has it set as her default homepage for Firefox. I've tried switching her to other services, but alas. Getting her to make the jump from IE to FF was hard enough.
- stereosaurus, on 07/09/2008, -0/+0I use Yahoo Finance as I find it to be the most usable interface for getting such information. All of their news sites, in fact, are quite well done regardless of their lacking a Google logo.
- pizzaguy01, on 07/09/2008, -1/+0I use yahoo because google is all ads and nothing else
- seraph582, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1You must have the two confused - because the picture above is of Yahoo and it has a gigantic ***** ad right smack in the middle of the page. Have you been to google.com lately?
- naisanza, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1my sister does. i think because she feels bad for its inferiority to google.

- fani, on 07/09/2008, -12/+5I prefer Yahoo over Google. As is both search engines are filled with junk returning ad infested site stealers instead of real sites.
But overall, I like Yahoo over Google as I find it better. I typically use Yahoo products more than any other.

- Bjp494, on 07/09/2008, -4/+5google is better as an actual search engine. yahoo whored itself out to icons and other stuff that you have sensory overload when you look at their home page
- DarkShroud, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1And now Google is extremely bloated with forum posts and blog traffic. Which is why I also use Yahoo and Live since they are actually useful. It's never a good idea to tie yourself down to one thing only.

How Digg Works
"Digg is democratizing digital media. As a user, you participate in determining all site content by discovering, selecting, sharing, and discussing the news, videos, and podcasts that appeal to you."
"Become popular. Once a submission has earned a critical mass of Diggs, it becomes “popular” and jumps to the homepage in its category. If it becomes one of the most popular, it qualifies as a “Top 10”. If a submission doesn't receive enough Diggs within a certain time period, it eventually falls out of the “Upcoming” section." - demizer, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Didn't you hear? Digg is mainstream!
- jspegele, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1The title contains "Google", "iPhone" and "[PIC]"; of course it's going to make the front page.

"5. The HTC Touch Diamond
I've seen the future of cell phones, folks, and it's called the HTC Touch Diamond. With its gorgeous VGA screen, beautiful touch-screen interface, and compact, light-weight shell, the Diamond is the first phone to make me green-eyed with envy since … well, since the original iPhone. The Diamond is set to arrive in the U.S. in September, and spy shots of a Sprint-branded Touch Diamond are already circulating on the Web. You might want to give the Diamond a serious look before committing to a new two-year iPhone contract. "
OK. Fair enough. So lets read some reviews then..
http://www.cnet.com.au/mobilephones/pdaphones/0,23 ...
Oh. Its super slow, eh? Oh look, the touch interface isn't very intuitive? oh. So... its crap then. Compared to the iPhone. Oh well.- winampman2, on 07/09/2008, -2/+2You might not realize it, but nowhere in that article does it say that the HTC Diamond is slow or unintuitive.

- Shugii, on 07/09/2008, -6/+3Definitely, macs are so much better, you'll get no viruses. It's like how you can't go blind if you don't have eyes. So limited that you won't get viruses either. - damntourists, on 07/09/2008, -2/+5as a fellow mac user, i can say that macs can get viruses man.. sorry.. it's even recent news that 2 new trojans hit osx leopard.
- Shugii, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1I guess my sarcasm needs a little bit of a touch up. I'm saying macs don't get viruses because you can barely do anything on it in the first place. Rubbish OS. Linux is pretty dull as well, people hate windows yet more than 90% of computers around the world use it. Sorry to say this, Apple might stay around for a while longer but their OS won't. End of story. Clear enough for you? Yes Vista is pretty 'meh' but I'd rather have the ability to do more than to do less. I'm a gamer so you'll have to understand. And if I could afford the Macbook Air I would probably buy one if I plenty of cash to burn. Crap battery life, and everything needs an external connection, what are Apple thinking?
