Why Open Source lovers should hate Apple
blogs.computerworld.com — Open Source lovers have long had a love affair with Apple, and treat Microsoft as if it were the spawn of the devil. But there are plenty of reasons why the Open Source community should shun Apple. Some of the more vocal members of the community are already speaking up

- Pliep, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2So okay, Apple is completely playing by the Open Source rules and licences for the pieces they use. Heck, they even give back to the community by releasing Mac OS X kernel and KHTML sources (amongst others).
They abide the Open Source rules 100% and still they are evil because they ALSO use closed, proprietary code along with the open bits? They forked and created their own Apple Public Source license, something that is allowed 100%, and still they're evil?
If all of that is wrong, the Open Source community should make up better rules. Just because the OSS community is USED to some unwritten laws, does not mean every member of that community will agree to those rules. Apple is just being clever, and does nothing that is illegal.
Quit complaining and do it better yourself! (Well, that's what I always get to hear when I criticise the OSS community.)
