24 HRS TO GO!- m3mn0n, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2There is more than 24 hours for us North Americans, but I'm sure as hell excited!

- sk8rpro, on 07/10/2008, -2/+10Does anyone know if this breaks Requiem 1.7.3 (that is ... the multi-platform app that strips off the DRM of music and videos)?
- flickr, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Nope, seems to still work.
- jpop, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1That's surprising. Personally, if I had a setup I liked on my current jailbroken iPhone, I would not be upgrading anything (firmware/iTunes/etc) for a bit to see how things shake out. Apple seems to like to "break" things in their updates.
- SlpingInsomniac, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5It's not necessarily Apple's fault. If they release an updater which updates parts of the files and programs, and if you've changed what it updates, then there will obviously be some sort of problem with the update.
- flickr, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Nope, seems to still work.

- alex7575, on 07/10/2008, -11/+1I thought this would an actual remote, that I could use with videos, music, pictures etc... I am so disappointed.

- alex7575, on 07/10/2008, -3/+2since you're so smart and I'm a moron, tell me if you even understood what I meant by my post.
this remote allows you to go through your music library on the iPhone and control song playing on iTunes. It doesn't seem like it let's you do the same for the video, pictures. I added "music" to my list above as a mistake.

- alex7575, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1So can you use this remote for the video content in iTunes?
- Redge, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2It don't think so, it's just for music.

- Gunsotsu, on 07/10/2008, -16/+2Yet another needless push to upgrade iTunes thanks to the Jesus phone. A device I don't own, don't care about, and no doubt I'll have to wrestle with iTunes yet again to get it to work right thanks to it.
Way to piss off everyone that doesn't have an iPhone, Apple!- nblsavage, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5Don't wanna upgrade to the latest version? Then don't. I'm still using 7.4.3.1 at work because anything later doesn't play nice with Server 2003 (don't ask). Only thing I can't do is rent movies.
- wezman2, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Why do you have iTunes running on Server 2003?
That's right... I asked. - nblsavage, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Sigh, because I got a new PC at work and our retarded IT staff used the Server image on it. It sucks as a desktop OS.
- LoCoPyRo, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Any idea if 7.4.3.1 works on Windows XP 64 bit as well? I should probably downgrade
- nblsavage, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2LoCoPyRo, I'm not sure. From what I've been able to gather it's not so much the iTunes upgrade as it is the updated Quicktime that comes with it.
- wezman2, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Why do you have iTunes running on Server 2003?
- AvidPreatorian, on 07/10/2008, -1/+5hey you wanna talk about it man? you gonna be alright? here, some tissues.

- billygreen23, on 07/10/2008, -9/+4I have been anxiously awaiting this day but am pretty disappointed. 90% of the apps are junk or overpriced. I really expected most apps to be high quality at the level you would expect from Apple and the iPhone. I mean, Cow Toss? Come on, I expect that crap in the jailbroken installer, not the official App Store.
- 8dot3, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5There is a ton of great stuff, you picked one lame app and judged the whole store on it.
- ThatsUnpossible, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5You've already been able to use 90% of the apps! Nice work.
Why would you expect 3rd party software to be, across the board, "as high quality" as Apple software? - billbugger, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2You can throw cows? Munay!
- Falcorn, on 07/10/2008, -9/+0Any word on how many gigs the download is?
- JustinAiken, on 07/10/2008, -7/+3Still waiting for iTunes to add useful features like tagging instead of bloat that's only for iPhone users...
SIGH
I wish I could find another media player I liked... iTunes is just slow with a large library, but it's so pretty....- ThatsUnpossible, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Put your tags in the grouping field.
- OKeric, on 07/10/2008, -4/+13It's a shame that we never see actual improvements in the iTunes software, like maybe running smoother on PCs. Instead it's always just to add support for Apples new devices.
- maexus, on 07/10/2008, -7/+5It runs amazing on OS X and honestly, I highly doubt it will get much better on Windows. There just isn't that much incentive for Apple.
- kiiwii, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6How exactly is there not much incentive for Apple?
I'd say a good majority of iPod users are using it on a PC. - jpop, on 07/10/2008, -1/+5But if they can get you to buy a Mac for your iTunes...
- maexus, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1@kiiwii Yes but how many average consumers are complaining about the performance on Windows? I don't disagree it could match the performance on OS X but I'm just trying to paint a realistic picture here.
- alex7575, on 07/10/2008, -2/+1@maexus,
Your second comment contradicts your first comment, and your first comment, I don't know how to put it nicely....

- freshyill, on 07/10/2008, -3/+2I've been kicking around the idea of ripping my DVDs, and I was leaning toward just managing them through the Finder. With this, however, I think it might be worth it to manage them through iTunes so I can control them with my iPhone. Hmmm... decisions, decisions.
- freshyill, on 07/10/2008, -2/+3Wow, apparently somebody thinks I shouldn't do it.
- alex7575, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1it's only for music.
- MikeSobe, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4This is pretty cool. I don't have an iPhone or iTouch but this could be pretty useful if you are having a party and shuffle brings up a song you don't want. Or if you are playing a PC game and don't want to bring up iTunes to change the song. Props to Apple
- amitgir, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1Get served Remote Buddy...

- LoCoPyRo, on 07/10/2008, -4/+1Does this crap (known as iTunes) support Windows XP 64 bit yet? Its annoying having a popup about improper installation everytime I start the program and not being able to rip or burn cds
- Hosalabad, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Cry a river. X64 is for productivity, you want play music and watch movies, get another machine.
- sg7791, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Hey, you chose a 64 bit operating system. Most things don't work well. (Pst, install a 32 bit OS, you still get a lot out of the 64 bit processor.)
- LoCoPyRo, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1LoL.. I can run EVERY program on my 64 bit machine.. I have all my drivers and have never had any problems except with iTunes. Maybe 64 bit was a ***** in the past and Vista is still bad, but XP is great. I really wish I could install the 64 bit version of iTunes, but Apple decided that customers weren't smart enough to select their operating system and encrypted the file so it will only install on Vista.
Ive seen workarounds online that will allow me to take off the restrictions, but I would have to install two 3rd party programs and waste time.
It was just a simple question if they provide support for my operating system yet, no need to throw around false and ignorant accusations
- Hosalabad, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Cry a river. X64 is for productivity, you want play music and watch movies, get another machine.
- smoke123, on 07/10/2008, -1/+0APPLE IS LYING now is 18:05 CET, at Apple site all MobileMe services are running, but it is not possible to connect from local MobileMe account.
- bladzalot, on 07/10/2008, -6/+1How the hell has iTunes had SO many updates since the release of the iPhone and there is STILL no 64-Bit XP Support. I completely agree with LoCoPyRo on this, I am sick and freakin tired of error messages just because I am running a 64-bit machine...
Come on Apple!!- DominicUK, on 07/10/2008, -1/+6Running a 64-bit machine isn't the problem - you're just running the wrong OS.
- captainchris, on 07/10/2008, -0/+264 bit xp = turbo charged turcel
- Iwantawii, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Has anyone gotten the Remote app to work?
It installs fine in my 2.0 iPhone, but there's nothing in iTunes that I can find to enable it.- Iwantawii, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Figgered it out. I had to undock my iPhone, then restart the Remote app, and my iPhone appeared under "Devices" in iTunes. Sync with a 4-digit pin and done!
- eww7633, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1I don't get that option anywhere in iTunes.
- Iwantawii, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2You have to be running iTunes 7.7, and your computer has to be on the same wireless network as your iPhone
- tsunamisteve, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2nope. the vibe from apple today is "tease".
- Shuelin, on 07/10/2008, -5/+0Gonna check out 7.7 now
http://thegooglehouse.blogspot.com - shufan, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Damn. I'm pretty jealous of iPhone/iPod Touch owners now. I would've gotten one, but only the iPod Classic has enough memory to satisfy me. I really want that remote control app though, lol.
- downwithpeople, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Winamp Remote has worked well for me, and has been out for almost a year now I believe.
- shufan, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1From what I understand they are different? I thought WinAmp Remote just allowed you to stream and access your home library from other computers. This, as demonstrated by the video, is actually like using your iPod as a remote control. Otherwise yes, WinAmp Remote is a good feature, although I have stopped using WinAmp, since I had some problems with it.
- yourbrokenoven, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1the apps aren't working yet for some reason... hope they fix this soon!
- maexus, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1@alex7575 How does my second statement contradict my first? If consumers aren't complaining, Apple see's no need to improve the performance of iTunes on Windows. Why would they? Then I said I think Apple could if they really wanted to, Window's isn't horrible, Apple just chooses not to.
- hijinksensue, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1After upgrading to firmware 2.0 I decided to keep my iPhone 1G. Its like a new phone!
http://hijinksensue.com/2008/07/11/omfggg/ - FreekishX09, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Apple totally rape iPod touch owners on the new 2.0 software update, charging £5.99 for people in the UK! and half the features are just the applications such as mail, stocks etc from the previous update that Apple charged iPod touch owners for in the first place!
