iTunes Marketing is Retro 90’s Amiga Graphics Demo
tonyrocks.com — Have we really come far at all with graphics/design and marketing since the late 80s-Early 90s? This Amiga demo is shockingly modern and parts are very similar to the whole iTunes "dancing silhouettes." Very much worth the watch and listen.

- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh my God I remember that! I miss Moonstone and Shadow of the Beats, great great games.
- tonyrocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah man, this stuff is hot. I used to go to Amiga meetings just to get the latest demos. Heck with the games :)
- jacat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2old school! nice. brought back memories! crionics and silents had the best, hands down. brainbug, crass, etc. were all good too.
- studiophi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They do that already. It's called the iPod Shuffle.
- alexvalentine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, parts of that are really close to the itunes silhouettes of today. Definitely worth checking out. The Amiga was way ahead of its time. A great device, that was poorly marketed.
Imagine if Apple produced the Amiga. Apple's marketing department/ad agency does a great job. Between their marketing, Steve's reality distortion field, and the blindly loyal fan base, they could sell bricks of ***** for $100 and make them desirable to the masses.- adragons, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I don't agree. The masses aren't that stupid.
- alobos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The youtube version doesn't do justice to the demo. It was AWESOME to watch in full screen in a 26'' TV. I remember I saw the disc images of this in AmiNet some time ago..
- gravity242, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Agreed. The compression codec really distorts the sharp details of the original. (especially in the first segment before the title screen)
- Punk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its really amazing what you can really fit into 800k.
Just by watching this video it makes me wish I owned an Amiga back in the day. - Tupster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Anybody know if the music from this demo is available? I'd like to add it to my .mod collection :P
- Brutal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great! This really brings back memories.
Btw: Spaceballs also released a State of the Art 2, called "9 fingers"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1PuDMgpJlg - kim^lwx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh yeah! I remember being at The Party in 1992 when this was just released. Back then, it was quite a step beyond the competition, although a lot of other stuff that pushed hardware limits was also released at the time.
Today the demo scene lives on, but the focus has turned more towards design and visual appearance, as opposed to pushing hardware limits. That's not neccesarily a bad thing but it does illustrate very well how much hardware has improved over the last two decades, and also how the demoscene has shifted.- leinir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's not entirely true - there are still groups out there who push things harder than ever. This is a touch old as well, but in 2000 a group called farbrausch released a demo called .the.product which was 11 minutes of high-quality real-time generated 3D graphics with music. http://www.theproduct.de/ is the download - 63.5 KB worth of niftiness ;) Oh yeah, and a full 3D-shooter built on the same technology called kkrieger, in 96 KB ;) (oh yeah, you of course have to discount DirectX from this, but... yeah ;) ). (yes, i'm well aware they're Windows based demos - but i use linux myself and still see the cool in these :) )
- taizoshiozaki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I miss my DeluxePaint 4.
- gavintlgold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My dad always used to fool around with DeluxePaint III... REALLY cool program. The way you could do the geometrical shapes.. He always keeps looking for a mac or PC version of it. (anyone know of one?)
Anyway, we still have an amiga... works fine except the screen colors are a bit messed up.

- raynevandunem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If anyone is interested, the AROS team is working on a binary-compatible, free and open-source AmigaOS clone. It's mostly for x86, even though a port for PPC is underway.
