mac's $300 iTV versus a $15 generic cable (generic cable WINS)
valleywag.com — sorry mac-idiots, but you folks are buying nothing but hot air.

- boohoo, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4how many thou$ands will you apple-tards spend before you realize you are being RAPED and completely taken advantage of?
- BrowncoatJedi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5You are a *****. 360 fanboys are pathetic and transparent.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The point of the iTV is to provide a WIRELESS link between your computer and your home entertainment system (and it provides an interface to access your computer's media from the living room). This completely misses the point. Marked as lame.
- Derfus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3modified xbox 360's , and even modified xbox, have been doing this for a long time.
apple should just make the macmini do whatever the itv does - zybch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"The point of the iTV is to provide a WIRELESS link between your computer and your home entertainment system"
So thats why its got an ethernet port at the back then? Because people will ONLY use it WIRELESSLY!!
So I guess the RJ45 is just not actually connected internally or something. - StevoCJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Perhaps some people would rather not use wireless for security/reliability reasons. Perhaps some people might already have wired their house for internet. Maybe it's in case a wireless card breaks at one end. Perhaps not everyone has a wireless card on their Mac.
Never underestimate the usefulness of an RJ45 port, even if you barely ever use it.
- Derfus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3modified xbox 360's , and even modified xbox, have been doing this for a long time.
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3What about an xbox with xbmc installed and a wireless adapter?
- rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6boohoo must have spend his thousands on a media center. that's why he/she is whining.
Marked as inaccurate, since comparing iTV to a cable is completely nuts. - boohoo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3I agree that the comparison is "nuts", which is my WHOLE point. You lemmings spend all your hard-earned (pushing pixels is hard) money on apple's proprietary garbage. If you are buying a mac because you hate Windows, thats one thing. I can respect that. But stop throwing your music money down this apple pit. If you're so hell-bent on spending great gobs of cash on music... buy a CD after a concert or otherwise put the money into the mouths of the ARTISTS, not con-man steve jobs.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I agree with you that the iTunes Music Store is crap (due to DRM and low bitrate lossy recordings), and I only buy CDs and FLAC recordings. I buy Apple hardware because it works better than alternatives and my time is too valuable to deal with junk, not because it's released by Apple. Maybe you should explore your irrational hatred for Apple products and their customers... Obviously, Apple tries to sell crap at times, but iTV does have its uses, and there isn't really anything else like it that integrates so seamlessly with your computer and offers the same features. Whether it's worth $300 or not is for you to decide (to me, it's probably not), but I'm sure they will do quite well with these.
- mtied, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5You do realize that Apple only makes around $.29 - $.30 per song, don't you?
as far as DRM, blame RIAA for that one. RIAA will never allow an online service to sell unprotected media. And wasn't it RIAA that wanted to Apple to raise the prices of their songs earlier this year, but Steve stepped in and flat out said no to them? IMO the people we really need to fight is RIAA and not Apple for having this DRM crap. - WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1@mtied: I don't care whose fault it is; their service sucks!
- minder49, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@WiseWeasel Stop whining. Typical immature, me, me, me attitude!
If you don't like it, don't use it. If others like it, they will use the service, and have every right not to hear you whine, bitch and moan about.
- bufbarnaby, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Wired is always better than wireless in terms of quality...and is a lot cheaper. Steve is good at selling a more complicated , and costly way of doing things and the Apple Sheeple buy into it. Zune has them beat too because it is designed to hook up to a TV directly without any need for a computer.
- Mikecol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4But an iPod can connect to a TV without the need for a computer too. With a cable just like what was in the linked article actually.
- boohoo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2"there isn't really anything else like it that integrates so seamlessly with your computer and offers the same features" Thats true, if you ignore all the media center extenders released in the past 2 years. Try this one:

- danieleran, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Haha that "Valleyfag" logo always cracks me up, and I'm in San Francisco.
But seriously:

- Tilneys, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2People in the Microsoft camp are just so anti Apple they just don't seem to see clearly.
Happily, the consumer will decide the issue. These kinds of rabid rants are of little consequence to anyone.
Apple's solution will again likely be elegant, easy to use and reliable. Things that most others' solutions definitely are not, particularly those from Microsoft of course.- zybch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Reliable? What, like all the "apple stuff from the past 9 months reliable"??
- boohoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Tilneys - "Apple's solution will again likely be elegant, easy to use and reliable"
elegant = apple-tards love shiny or translucent objects
easy to use = lack of features
reliable = except for the batteries, scratches on the screens, ability to get support, or ability to play your DRM'd files anywhere else- Mikecol, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3At least learn to operate the intuitive, easy to use reply button before talking down a tech company.
- minder49, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0@boohoo (Aptly named, aren't you...) As opposed to Microsoft's typical "Cutting edge, high tech products like the Zune for one?
Cutting Edge = So far out there that only half the features will work, if you are lucky.
High Tech = The price point for many of their products is so high, Hubble needs to be rerouted once a week.
Plus, you get free viral DRM with every player! What a bonus!
- boohoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Mikecol, at least learn how to stay on topic and comment on the subject at hand, before clicking the 'submit comment' button.
