- fluidfoundation, on 05/07/2008, -6/+16Shouldnt have used that bendy piece in the middle though...
- KokomoNYC, on 05/07/2008, -28/+3Will it blend?
- RecoDesign, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9When are people gonna stop saying that *****?
- Markpdotcom, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3Hopefully as soon as people stop saying "LEGOs". There is no S people!!!! Its just LEGO!
- oreo2123, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2as soon as the internet isn't made up of tubes...
(ok, a part of me hates myself for referencing that...but then there's the bigger part of me that just doesnt care - which seems to win more often)
- hmunkey, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1No. Bye.
- RecoDesign, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9When are people gonna stop saying that *****?
- matschig, on 05/07/2008, -21/+2I would ***** that ***** up so fast if i had the chance.
- kreejo, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7Is it 'cos you're a gangstar?
- chanop, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2I see that you are a gangester. I'm pretty Gangster myself.
- kreejo, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7Is it 'cos you're a gangstar?
- sdcarter, on 05/07/2008, -3/+62What is this? A center for ants? The building has to be at least... three times bigger than this!
- Xproject01, on 05/07/2008, -10/+3dugg for zoolander reference
- GeorgeStone2, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9Buried for telling everyone you've seen Zoolander.
- sharkd, on 05/07/2008, -3/+2Give him a break -- it's very had being really really ridiculously good -ooking.
- GeorgeStone2, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9Buried for telling everyone you've seen Zoolander.
- gadgetuk, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4He's absolutely right.
- musicfreak87, on 05/07/2008, -3/+1you made me laugh. just a little. a giggle really.
- superal1394, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1I burst out laughing, aah zoolander
I have to watch that again
- superal1394, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1I burst out laughing, aah zoolander
- Xproject01, on 05/07/2008, -10/+3dugg for zoolander reference
- protogenxl, on 05/07/2008, -1/+26They should have used Technics and went with a more Skyscraper like structure.
- optimuscrime, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6Agreed, this nothing more than a stack held upright by some guy-wires, and held in compression by an internal steel rod. This is not nearly as impressive as a 100 foot tall, free standing, space frame structure would be. Get some engineers over there.
- nusuni, on 05/07/2008, -11/+2Someone was bored at the latest lagoland meeting.
- oo00mige00oo, on 05/07/2008, -7/+2freaking awesome!!
- sailadayaway, on 05/07/2008, -12/+4Is 3 feet really "eclipsing" an older record?? I would think in order to eclipse something you'd need to completely blow the record out of the water...
- fadetoone, on 05/07/2008, -1/+11Sounds like you need to review the definition.
- thingnumber2, on 05/07/2008, -5/+19I wish I had that many legos :(
- BrosDuCK, on 05/07/2008, -4/+5*LEGO
- iMoth, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4*MY EGGO
- BrosDuCK, on 05/07/2008, -4/+5*LEGO
- IDK10, on 05/07/2008, -3/+11Its taller than my own building!
- stackered, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1...and yet all I want to do is knock it down...
- amabaie, on 05/07/2008, -5/+7OK, so what now?
- Ganja420, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2Linkin Logs
- 1shawn, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2You mean Lincoln Logs? Logs have nothing to do with Linkin Park.
http://lincolnlogs.knex.com- Haroshia, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Linkin Logs scream rock/rap and cut themselves.
- 1shawn, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2You mean Lincoln Logs? Logs have nothing to do with Linkin Park.
- Llanowar, on 05/07/2008, -4/+15Now it's time for a toy plane to crash into it.
- bosssmiley, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4Lego Babel?
"And lo! The people of Legoland were smote for their hubris..."
- Ganja420, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2Linkin Logs
- FromAtoZinc, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9TIMBER!
- FDDIcent, on 05/07/2008, -4/+20Eat it Mega Bloks.
- Lephtovermeet, on 05/07/2008, -5/+1This seems just mildly absurd
- svnft, on 05/07/2008, -1/+61anybody else think it's kind of lame that the record can be set with a metal pole running down the middle?
- RobotLeAwesome, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6Yeah wtf is that ***** - since when does a metal pole consist of LEGOs?
- chicagodj, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4I was going to complain about the guy-wires let alone the metal pole.
- EricAnderton, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Seriously. Get some technic pieces on that thing and stiffen it up already. It'll hold.
/me was expecting something a little more like the eiffel tower in LEGO.
- pms84, on 05/07/2008, -3/+0wow, looks really cool!
- Xproject01, on 05/07/2008, -3/+38whats with the cables for stability? legos should be free standing
- Jaablaze, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3the base isn't wide enough for it to free stand that high :(
- chicagodj, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5then they need a wider base... duh
- aenima987, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4the plural is LEGO!
- Jaablaze, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3the base isn't wide enough for it to free stand that high :(
- louiebaur, on 05/07/2008, -3/+1That thing is a monster!
- yujie, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9But will it beat the Burj Dubai?
- warispeace21, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4Built like a ***** brick house.
- Sil3ncer7, on 05/07/2008, -3/+9Dugg for being Lego's
Legos > All (including Mega Bloks)- GeorgeStone2, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2Meccano.
- glinsvad, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Lego Technic > Meccano
(and yes, I grew up to become an engineer)
- glinsvad, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Lego Technic > Meccano
- Markpdotcom, on 05/07/2008, -2/+3No... you're doing it wrong! Its just LEGO! Its NEVER LEGOs! There is no S!
- fredmv, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1K'Nex?
- GeorgeStone2, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2Meccano.
- smurf22, on 05/07/2008, -0/+22I remember making 5 foot towers when I was 8 and thinking I was a bad ass. Now that I see this I feel as though my life was a waste.
- EricAnderton, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5The amazing part about this is that ABS (plastic) is not light stuff at all. How are the pieces on the bottom holding that kind of weight.
I can see the base is wider than the top, but still, that's a lot of pressure on that bottom row of bricks.- Nevarius, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Perhaps the pole its built around is also supporting some of the weight.
- neolyn, on 05/07/2008, -2/+12I miss when you could go to a toy store and buy cool Lego sets. Now, all you can find is lame Harry Potter and Star Wars stuff. What ever happened to Wolf Pack or Space Police? Hell, I miss the Model Team sets!
- tacroy, on 05/07/2008, -1/+6Man the castle sets rocked. It was my gateway drug to nerdom.
- BeforeSputnik, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10but what a lame shape. I understand they're going for height, but they could model it after the Eiffel tower, or something more interesting (and probably more stable on its own).
- puttsy, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3Anyone know where I can get a shirt like that?Wait...were looking at the tower aren't we...Still, Dugg for the awesome Lego shirt.
- mal1964, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2I was never corrected once in over 40 years, "Guide-wire"
- Monarch818, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1"Guide-wire" ???
You mean "Guy-Wire" ??? - chicagodj, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Apparently you stand corrected now...
- Monarch818, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1"Guide-wire" ???
- aladrin, on 05/07/2008, -3/+2Would have been neater if -any- thought had been put into making it look nice as well. As it is, it's obviously just someone trying to get their 15 minutes of fame however they can.
- Bodminzer, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Erm, it was actually made by LEGO employees. I think LEGO as a company are in no need of their 15 minutes :)
- YoshinoAiki, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1They are LEGO, they must set the bar of LEGO tower height for the rest of the world. It is their job.
- WCL23, on 05/07/2008, -10/+0http://www.internetisseriousbusiness.com/
- 1shawn, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2It's a Rick Roll. Don't click the link!
- BrosDuCK, on 05/07/2008, -0/+0I had to even after reading your comment :(
- 1shawn, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2It's a Rick Roll. Don't click the link!
- marksands07, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Meh.. a 100ft tower with shape and design would be much better.
- ClevelandBrown, on 05/07/2008, -0/+0Agreed, for an official lego tower this sucks ass.
- Modiga, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2Oh *****! Only one man can save us now.
http://planetofthegeeks.com/workbench/lego/headcra ... - h3smith, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2Kids now have it so easy - The Lego Store.
Nothing was better than building crap out of mismatched pieces that didn't exactly form what you needed. - Laputian, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Here comes by older brother to knock it over.
/painful childhood LEGO memories - robz0rz, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2Build a lego airplane and then ... *that was dark*
- ToddsSpleen, on 05/07/2008, -5/+2Would've been cooler if they had built it in Lagos.
- saturnx8, on 05/07/2008, -4/+1huh go figure i thought it would somehow be related to Dubai. i mean they have such small penis syndrome over there they need to build it bigger just to compensate.
- herbstblatt, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5100 feet = 30.48 meters
- jimlovett, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2love these people
- pileofstraw, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1Wow. the design is amazing.
- futureisours, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1With the price of legos, it would only cost 20 million dollars to build this on your own. Kinda cool. Get to see something new everyday on digg.
- PdxPhoenix, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2@ roughly .10$ each that'd be more like 5 million dollars for the 500,000 pieces the article says they used.... or roughly 2.5 million £...
- ninjasaurus, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1That would weight around 2.5 tons. That would be a bitch to have come crashing down on top of you.
- wrttnwrd, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5Sorry, doesn't count with guy wires and a metal pole. Why not just glue a single strip of legos to a 300-ft pole and be done with it?
- YoshinoAiki, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1They guy wires are to stop it from falling on people and the metal pole with cap are to keep it compressed so weather doesn't make the legos separate and again, fall on people's heads. It's for safety, not to actually get the height and such. The legos still stand that tall on their own, they would just fall over from wind if not for the wires attached to the pole.
- musicfreak87, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1Wow. New Englanders have a lot of time on there hands
- methodshop, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1anyone else want to base jump off of it?
- tmspecial, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Another cool Lego World Record is the one for the biggest Lego image. It is currently held by the Plastic Brick Museum (aka LEGO Museum) in Bellaire, OH. Here are the details (http://danstoymuseum.blogspot.com/2008/01/we-have- ... ) and a picture (http://danstoymuseum.blogspot.com/2008/02/just-in- ... )
- kmiller7, on 05/07/2008, -0/+0Do you think they'll get a tiny lego man to stand on the top of it?
- smalljue, on 05/07/2008, -0/+0I know the blocks were all glued together, but would that British flag piece at the top be able to withstand just a tiny bit of wind?
- 2Bnor2B, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1I can't wait for the MMO Lego Universe to come out.
http://universe.lego.com/en-us/Default.aspx - iMoth, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3When you see it, you'll ***** bricks.
- huertanix, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Or be pelted with bricks, should a good wind come by.
