      • kd1s, on 07/31/2008, -1/+1Yes I realize it but it's a much more efficient process than burning it in an internal combustion engine. Especially when you multiply that over millions of vehicles.

        If you ever want a good read, check out "Internal Combustion" by Edwin Black. They had electric cars back at the turn of the 20th century but those were pushed aside for the gasoline engine.

        Imagine if development had continued on batteries and electric motors throughout the 20th century instead of dumping all that time and effort into IC engines.

      • knowitman, on 07/31/2008, -2/+4There is always no maintenance. Nothing also works perfectly. You also seem to forget that the suspension will still need to be periodically checked to make that sure that the car is properly aligned.

  • jugglingjon, on 07/31/2008, -3/+2Those are some pretty small screens. I have a Camry Hybrid, and its touchscreen display is far nicer/larger; I'm surprised as expensive and tech focused as these Teslas are, they didn't install anything nicer.

    And yes I know another screen is in the stereo unit, but that one is tiny as well.

  • andreo, on 07/31/2008, -2/+6I just thought about scheduling the charging time. How many times has someone thought they scheduled something like a recording only to find out they screwed up and it didn't record.
    Now imagine the next day. Your on your way to work and you have to call in: "um, I have to call off today". "My car didn't charge last night".

    I know, the car is more sophisticated then that. But it was funny thought anyway. Oh how I wish I could afford one of these.
