The Ten Ugliest Cars Currently Sold In The United States
jalopnik.com — Automakers spend lots of time and money designing, redesigning and test marketing their new vehicles to make certain they'll capture a potential buyer's imagination. It doesn't always work. We asked you just days ago if new cars were getting uglier and there was no real consensus, but one look at this list of the top ten ugliest new cars sold in th

- FreakinSyco, on 07/23/2008, -4/+60The Focus is the winner only because US Ford decided to make that turd rather than give us the fantastic Euro Focus.
- patpl22391, on 07/24/2008, -3/+12Blame Government regulation standards. All the rest of the world has the best cars, many of which have awesome Diesel engines, but can't pass our rigorous safety/emissions tests.
- dsmx, on 07/24/2008, -3/+9US emission test are different to european ones and european safety standards are far higher.
- dsmx, on 07/24/2008, -3/+9For the record here's a road death comparison:
United States 1979 Fatalities: 51,093 2002 Fatalities: 42,815
Great Britain 1979 Fatalities: 6,352 2002 Fatalities: 3,431
Source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHTSA#Regulatory_comp ...
If you multiply the Britain figures by 5 to get an equivalent figure your still 27000 deaths short of American road deaths. I fail to see how you can say there are higher safety standards in the US. - patpl22391, on 07/24/2008, -13/+4America is obviously a lot larger and has a lot more people and drivers than the United Kingdom. Your statistics are flawed.
- gallyjh, on 07/24/2008, -6/+3Really 1979? Yeah because /nothing/ has changed in safety since then... great comparison.
- dsmx, on 07/24/2008, -3/+4So not read the 2002 figures then? or even bother checking the link? If you adjust the figures to account for the population difference the UK still has a far lower amount or road deaths as I mentioned how about doing a bit of reading next time?
- Brian48216, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8You just love blaming the government for all your ills don't you. In the case of the Euro focus it isn't a matter of safety or emissions. If it was Ford could easily made adjustments and bring them to the US. That's what Mercedes did with Smart.
Ford doesn't import the Euro focus because the NA Focus is a much cheaper car then the Euro version. They believe that Americans that are willing to pay more money would opt for the Mustang.
Ford is selling the NA Focus as a cheap affordable car in the US for sales.
Frankly I think their management is made of morons when I asked why they don't import the Mondeo and they told me that I'd be pleasantly surprised by the Ford Fusion. Which I was not. - jeffvvisoft, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8Is there a government regulation forcing Ford to stick craptastic vents on the side of the car?
- BradHAWK, on 07/24/2008, -1/+7So being ugly is part of the U.S. safety/emission requirements?
- mikhial66, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Just to let you know, Americans drive a lot more than the British do, so this is not an even comparison.
- PixelMagic, on 07/24/2008, -3/+2And they stole windshield wipers. Those bastards.
- ucccft, on 07/24/2008, -16/+2fantastic Euro Focus? What Drugs are you smoking?
The Euro trash are the ugliest and crappiest car on EARTH! - stagmire, on 07/24/2008, -2/+10Mazda3 = Euro Focus
- tyboulder, on 07/24/2008, -1/+8It's true. They essentially re-branded the same car.
- tyboulder, on 07/24/2008, -0/+7Why are the fake air intake panels missing on the side of the Focus? Nothing says ghetto like a chromed piece of plastic glued on your car to make it look faster.
- lybrel, on 07/24/2008, -2/+7Digg me up if you think Maddox's article is better.

- STARTSOMETHING, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some of these cars I thought looked nice.
- patpl22391, on 07/24/2008, -3/+12Blame Government regulation standards. All the rest of the world has the best cars, many of which have awesome Diesel engines, but can't pass our rigorous safety/emissions tests.
- Jektal, on 07/23/2008, -12/+81Most of these aren't that bad - but god is that Murano hideous
- louiebaur, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5I agree that one is terrible
- badtiki, on 07/24/2008, -2/+5OMG are you kidding? im looking at the murano now, flipping between that and the ford edge. I liked the 2007 better, and for some reason they didn't make a 2008 - but the 2009 isn't that bad - plus its a smooth ride. If you want to harp on an ungly car, look at the new Flex or the scion - who wants to drive a square box!
- WasabiBomb, on 07/24/2008, -2/+17Man, do I disagree. Most of the cars in that list are ugly, or boring... but I've always liked the look of the Murano.
To each his own, I guess.- slazer, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Good last sentence.
- FUR10N, on 07/24/2008, -2/+12i agree i've seen way uglier rolling down the street (read: scion boxcar)
- Taiyoryu, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1I guess the Murano's little brother, the Rogue, got the good genes.
- tyboulder, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Eww, it's the Murano's red headed step child...
- jeffvvisoft, on 07/24/2008, -1/+0Probably looks good to soccer moms
- AlexanderBlue, on 07/24/2008, -4/+1I'm really surprised the Audi Q7 didn't make the list instead of the Nissan Murano. And how did the BMW 7 or 5 series not make the list? What BMW did to those cars in the last few years has been tragic.
- iJessicaRabbit, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2That's the one that's the cheaper version of the Infiniti FX right?... I love that car, so by default I have to say that the Murano being on the list surprises me....
... I mean the Murano is on the list and the Aztec isn't!?!? That's the ugliest car ever created! - drbroccoli, on 07/24/2008, -1/+4More like morono.
- tdogg241, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1This list is in severe need of some Dodge Magnum:

One of the dumbest looking cars I've ever seen.
- dave122, on 07/23/2008, -7/+116The Acura TL isn't that bad, definitely not what I'd call a great looking car, but compare it to a scion xb or a honda element and it looks amazing.
- MikeFromAmerica, on 07/23/2008, -6/+34Buried as inaccurate for not including the Scion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:06-Scion-xB.jpg- Disneyisevil50, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3I like the newer look of the xb than the older even boxier one. Still not for me, I actually have a 2007 Tc which is nice for an 18 year old although when I get a new car I'd get a little more room.
Someone once told me that they would only get a Xb so that they could hotbox the box. - lisawylde, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Dugg for complete truth. The ugliest car I've seen in the past decade, perhaps ever. So damn ugly I just want to punch one when I see it.

- tidu, on 07/24/2008, -2/+5yeah that TL isn't bad at all. That Fisher Price minivan should have been lower on the list as well...
- SolituSneiku, on 07/24/2008, -2/+4I actually have a TL on order and resent this article, photos don't do the car justice, the new TSX is hot too
- AlexanderBlue, on 07/24/2008, -2/+1I saw the new TL in person at an auto show in March. Although I like the old one, I thought the nose (especially the grill) on the new car wickedly ugly.
- shekki, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1what are you talking about? the new tl and tsx are hideous! honda needs new designers or designate mandatory substance screening. it's absurd, the previous generations are so much better looking than this monstrosity.
- hd95, on 07/24/2008, -2/+3TL looks good except for that the piece that hangs down from the top of the grill
- shekki, on 07/24/2008, -2/+2The new TL is fugly compared to its last 2 predecessors. What is Honda thinking the grill looks awful and have you seen the rear bumper? It makes the odyssey appear inadequate.
- rockefeller2, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2I call the older xb a "refrigerator on wheels." The newer xb isn't as boxy, but it's still ugly as *****.
- Jareth86, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2The xa is the only scion I liked, and they discontinued it.
- drhead, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1The xB and Element may not be my cup of tea but they are very well designed. I guess its true what the say Americans have not sense of style ;_;
- MikeFromAmerica, on 07/23/2008, -6/+34Buried as inaccurate for not including the Scion.
- slayersotaku, on 07/23/2008, -7/+26None of those are that bad except the Prius. Everything is getting post-modern, futuristic. I'm just hoping the next Mazda 3 looks good.
- jlmillstein, on 07/24/2008, -2/+5I was actually driving on the highway this morning and saw a Prius, and thought, "This is definitely high on the list of ugliest cars in production." I then wondered why I hadn't seen the list on digg. What a coincidence.
- IKORKYI, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2focus and murano are both just as bad
- KayMan2k, on 07/23/2008, -4/+162What!? No mention of the PT Cruiser? ... with fake wood panels?
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 07/23/2008, -1/+52The only thing worse than a wood-paneled PT Cruiser is a convertable wood-paneled PT Cruiser.
- Konrad9, on 07/24/2008, -3/+3PT Cruiser is getting the axe, so I wouldn't put it on the list.
- babar77, on 07/24/2008, -2/+16No the only thing worse was the now discontinued Pontiac Aztec. ugliest. vehicle. ever.
- iJessicaRabbit, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2There's a PT cruser that lives close to me and the owner dressed the damn thing up as a zebra... tail and everything... scary stuff out there
- o0mirage0o, on 07/24/2008, -2/+7Ugliest car ever!
- foxtails, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3The Scion xB is uglier.
- bullox, on 07/24/2008, -3/+15PT Loser.
- TypeEE, on 07/24/2008, -12/+8digg me down, but I hated the Mustang, only Americans are obsessed with classic looking car, it won't sell in the rest of the world.
- loganro, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8I'm not that big of a fan of the mustang, but really..who gives a ***** what the rest of the world thinks or drives.
- LMaxey, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3@TypeEE
Keep talking like that and eventually you'll love the smell of your own farts.
- jmahnn, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4Pontiac Aztec
Fugly as *****

- GRTWHT, on 07/23/2008, -1/+53Some good ones, but I swear I see even uglier stuff every day - a little disappointed with the list.
- antechinus, on 07/24/2008, -3/+2The US has always had the butt ugliest vehicles in the world, but lately you guys are being seriously challenged by the Chinese auto makers.

- M7levels, on 07/23/2008, -18/+12Now now I realize the prius is not purty (typo on purpose) but I am laughing all the way to the bank when I get over 45 miles to the gallon Mwaaaaahhhaahahhaha :P
Here is a list I started on another blog that I got through Times.. talk about ugly!! Sheessss
http://worldnews.getpaidfrom.us/- phore, on 07/23/2008, -5/+17My sister's Cooper S gets 40 MPG and has a supercharger and kicks butt on the autocross. Not to mention it actually looks good. She spent $15k on a used one with 30k miles on it (in pretty much new condition). Sorry to say but the Prius is a joke, I feel sorry for people suckered into buying one. You don't have to compromise if you want to save money on gas, just don't buy an SUV.
- jman583, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Your Mini gets 40 MPG? mine only gets around 30.
- twomeyw23334, on 07/24/2008, -3/+9I'm laughing all the way to the bank at the fact that most Prius driver's car payments are more than my payment, monthly gas, and car insurance combined. Mwahhahaa. Who gives a ***** if you get 5 mpg's better than a Civic after paying a crap load for a puny ugly chick repeller.
- TimDigg, on 07/24/2008, -2/+6My friend's toyota corolla gets 40mpg
- P373Y, on 07/24/2008, -1/+42003 golf tdi manual gets 49
- LeRenard, on 07/24/2008, -3/+4Don't laugh too hard. I get 45+ mpg in my Yaris, I have the exact same warranty, and I paid less than half of what you did.
- jeffvvisoft, on 07/24/2008, -2/+2My 98 Accord got 30+ ... old school kicking Pri-ass

- mrraven200, on 07/24/2008, -2/+10Indeed my 1990 Toyota Corolla is truly hideous. OTH it gets 30 city probably 38 highway runs like a top, doesn't burn oil, tracks true, stops well for 425 dollars. It does everything I need a car to do in an economic and ecological way while leaving money for me to go to concerts with friends, have a nice mac and a P.C. notebook, etc. Identifying with the appearance of a car is beyond pitiful, what does it matter as long as it gets you there?

- iharbinger, on 07/24/2008, -5/+0I like ALL of these cars, besides the highlander, I love how people just assume everyone has the same preferences on digg. I personally find the box shaped, mode style to be very attractive. I love how everyone says the aztec and the chevy 300 look like absolute trash, and I absolutely love them.
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -15/+9UGLY = Gets ***** gas mileage. At least these days. Or if you are less than 20 years old and your parents are picking up the fuel bill.

- NuclearIsShit, on 07/24/2008, -2/+5that grill is nasty
- mdoverkill, on 07/24/2008, -2/+2No it's ugly, especially if you compare to the outgoing version

Oh and if you are going to a comparison, why don't you first......start with the current TT, not the previous model

- btschul, on 07/23/2008, -4/+32None of these are really that bad. Apart from the minivan, of course.
- pentupentropy, on 07/23/2008, -7/+17the RAV4 should be at the top of this list. The PT Cruiser should also be near the top, that thing is hideous.
- drhead, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2PT Cruiser is the UGLIEST car in existences. The PT Cruiser is a cross between a honda Civic and a Prowler. and it failed miserably on both accounts.
- AFJon, on 07/23/2008, -13/+10"but the Tatra T87 has the same basic shape and a sub-.024 cD without looking an appliance."
That car doesn't even look remotely like the Prius. As a Prius driver I will admit that the Prius is not the best looking car, but thats not the point, its about the gas mileage. I mean, what is the point of a car? It is a means of conveyance, looks are peripheral. I mean if you want to go fast, get a sporty car, but I like to use my car for driving to places, and I don't really need a sporty car to boost my ego.
Oh, and the MINI Cooper is way gayer than the Prius.- mehan, on 07/24/2008, -2/+11no matter how you try to rationalize it, you still drive a prius.
- dsmx, on 07/24/2008, -5/+6You do realise that a prius does more damage than a land rover discovery right? Those lithium batteries cause massive environmental damage. That lithium ore is mined in canada where it is shipped by train to a port then it is shipped accross the Atlantic to Europe where it is refined into lithium, which is then shipped over to Japan where upon it is turned into lithium batteries which are transported to the factory to go into a prius which is then shipped accross the pacific to america.
- iharbinger, on 07/24/2008, -2/+0just like your paperclips.
- warren8, on 07/24/2008, -3/+10At least mini owners dont like to smell their own farts.
No, but seriously, the prius is just a huge scam. the hybrid battery does almost nothing for mpg. Instead, they just created a light car with narrow tires for less resistance to rolling, very little interior space and an engine that is barely able to accelerate the car.
Instead you could just buy a regular civic, and skip on the huge markup and douchiness that comes with owning a prius. I mean honestly, if you ask me, buying a prius more consistently is for an ego boost than buying a fast car. When you buy a fast car, it is possible to just enjoy it and not care about what others think. If youre buying a prius, its quite obvious you have the cash for gas money, but you want to show how you are better than all the non-hybrid drivers. Either that or you're an idiot who falls for the bs that hybrids are. (right now anyway)- dsmx, on 07/24/2008, -2/+8I'd bet you'd get another 20mpg out of the prius if you took out the batteries and the electric motor.
- LeRenard, on 07/24/2008, -4/+3Wow, I love how you pulled that out of your ass and were so impressed you almost believe yourself. If you want to find out what a Prius is like sans Hybrid system, you'd basically be looking at the Yaris. The Yaris has the 1NZ-FE 1.5L VVT-i engine while the Prius uses the 1NZ-FXE 1.5 VVT-i. They differ only in the compression ratio and the method of ignition the computer uses (Atkins for the FXE, Otto for the FE). Both cars use the same Bridgestone RE92 low rolling resistance tires. The Prius is around 2700 lbs. while the Yaris is about 2200 lbs. The Yaris has a Cd of .29 while the Prius is .26. At highway speeds, typical mileage for both cars is around 40-45mpg. The Prius is running on it's combustion engine at those speeds, so that isn't surprising. However, in the city, where driving is stop-start and around 40mph and below, the Prius can use the Hybid system to recover braking energy and use it for starting from a dead stop. As a result the Prius can do 70+ mpg under those circumstances, where the Yaris can reach about 26-30mpg. There is a very clear advantage to the Hybrid system in terms of mileage performance in stop start driving.
- AFJon, on 07/24/2008, -3/+3Honda Civic ~ 2700 lbs
Toyota Prius ~ 2900 lbs
Honda Civic ~ 26/34 mpg
Toyota Prius ~ I average 44 mpg
And the Toyota Prius actually has a lot of interior room, that is actually the first thing people comment on when they are riding in the back.
So I don't think it really is a "scam" as you say and I didn't buy it as a status symbol, just the gas mileage.
and @ dsmx
That was the dumbest thing I heard today...go choke yourself - lynx44, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1While I guess there probably are some people that buy them simply to get better gas mileage, they are misinformed. If you want to be environmentally friendly and save money, you should just buy a used car or at least a new economy car. The batteries in a Prius are damaging to the environment and expensive to replace, and all you get in return is 10 mpg more than a fuel efficient car. Take the difference that you would spend on a new or used economy car and calculate how long it will take until you actually start saving money. That's not even taking into account the battery replacements you'll have to do. Chances are, you'll never see the savings.
- iJessicaRabbit, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2You know at first I was going to get upset about someone insulting the MINI (I have a MINI S) until I saw that you were comparing it with a Prius.
Top two ugliest cars IMO are the Prius and Aztek. I still can't figure out what the designers were thinking with them.
- OffPiste, on 07/23/2008, -6/+9Damn! Well I guess it's a sure sign I've hit menopause when I think most of those vehicles look great. Oh well, I had a good run in my day.
- burchie2, on 07/23/2008, -4/+27There isn't a single car on this list that I would feel embarrassed to drive. How could they forget the Kia's in this world?
- BonersMilloy, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Just the uplander.
- NuclearIsShit, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3I own a Kia Rio and even I think it is pretty ugly. But for 4 grand and almost no miles, why not.

- RebeL5K, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Yeah, we all would, but that's the thing; manufacturers are not giving these away, they expect you to want AND pay for an ugly mess.
- oboredone, on 07/24/2008, -4/+21That Chevy is FUGLY.
- xGuerrillaRadio, on 07/24/2008, -1/+5Speaking of fugly:

The Toyota FJ Cruiser is arguably even worse than the Scion xB. The taillights look like tumors for god's sake!- NuclearIsShit, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3The FJ and the PT cruiser should definitely be on the list.
God that FJ must be the ugliest vehicle ever made.
- NuclearIsShit, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3The FJ and the PT cruiser should definitely be on the list.
- BoneStamp, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Put any minivan on that list and it's in trouble. The honda and toyota minivans are even uglier. The Chrysler isn't bad.

- abw1987, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Agreed.
There are no truly ugly cars on this list, besides the minivan (which is a given because pretty much every minivan is inherently ugly). They missed some real gems. Also, a pretty lame attempt at Cracked-style shock humor.

Most of these cars aren't all that bad looking.
I think they were chosen at random.
Lame list.- WasabiBomb, on 07/24/2008, -10/+3Back the hell off of the Element. I have one and love it.
I didn't much care for how they looked until I got inside one- now it's the best car I've ever had. Inside, that damn thing's bigger than my first apartment- it's like a Tardis on wheels.- r3negadeX, on 08/11/2008, -1/+6My grandma has an Element. The interior is the only possible thing that could look more tacky and hideous than the exterior.
- WasabiBomb, on 07/24/2008, -2/+1Let's see... rear seats that fold up or can be removed entirely, rear sunroof, rubber mats on the floor, waterproof seats, stadium rear seating, subwoofer, ten speakers, HUGE amount of storage, all wheel drive, 23 mpg, and only cost $21k?
I guess I like "tacky and hideous". - lynx44, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2I don't see how your argument changes the fact that they are ugly. No one said they weren't useful.

- rowlodge, on 07/24/2008, -0/+13my first new car was a Ford Tempo, that was ugly, i heard some the guys at the dealership snickering as they went by the door, while we were negotiating the price.
- 9bpm9, on 07/24/2008, -3/+58This list is horrible.
- Hartley1942, on 07/24/2008, -6/+26Aztek?
- Cam_86, on 07/24/2008, -0/+10The Aztek was killed off, I think, back in '04. Damn shame because other then its edgy styling(which some people, myself included, didnt mind) it was a very well built car. Especially considering it was a first generation crossover.
If you can stomach the look, then its an amazingly good deal used. They have horrible resale value, and generally last upwards of 300k if well taken care of. The Aztek and the Hyundai Accent are probably the best deals in the used market, all because of consumer ignorance, or stubbornness to accept *different* design styles.- jeffvvisoft, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3It's still ugly.
- BoneStamp, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6I think you missed the part about "currently sold".
- AROZ, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2The Aztec was avant-garde. But GM cut costs and used that ugly dark plastic body cladding excessively. That cladding really held it back, and it was gone by the final model year. By then, the Aztec had become the poster child of ugly in the U.S. and it didn't make a difference as people weren't considering it.

- carlosos, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I actually like the HHR. It has a lot of room, gets good gas millage, and is cheap in addition to looking pretty good (if you have the right color). I was considering buying one of those but decided to spend instead a few thousand to repair my 1995 Eagle Vision to have it drive like new. (great car but bad mpg)

[edit] YES! wow.. - browwiw, on 07/24/2008, -9/+4Who gives a damn about what a car looks like anymore as long as it's fuel efficient. It doesn't matter how sexy your vehicle is if you can't afford to leave the driveway.
- ThaDRD, on 07/24/2008, -2/+6It goes both ways, you could put a V12 in a minivan and I wouldn't drive it. Just as I won't drive the Prius. - PRlME, on 07/24/2008, -7/+5GM has been making garbage since the 1980's. They can never make a good engine, the seals leak, the interior looks the same from then till now. The CTS is the only car I like. I'm sure GM has good designers working at the desk, but its got to be management i'm sure whos fuqin up every thing.
- Gman1223, on 07/24/2008, -2/+7...This has what to do with the article?
I mean, I can't disagree that GM has made a lot of ***** since the 80s, but you're making it out to be like you're enlightening people with your vast wisdom of this. ***** Off.
They can never make a good engine? Two of their engines made it on Ward's Ten Best Engines this year. Don't even get me started on the Chevy Small Block.
"the interior looks the same from then till now."

How can you compare that to this:
http://drivingsports.com/mag/images/stories/jrevie ... - Gman1223, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Err, The knobs I see in both images look nothing alike. I prefer flat dashes, that is my preference.
Though that Nissan dash isn't too bad, I think it looks cheap and run of the mill, seriously, there's nothing new there.
Btw, the Altima and Impala aren't all that comparable. Try comparing it to the Malibu instead:

- BoneStamp, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Dude, check out the quality ratings for Cadillac, Saab and Chevrolet for the past 3 years. Then go and look at the interiors for the current Saab 9-3, CTS, G5, G6, G8, Enclave, Aura, Malibu, Envoy... because you need to update your information. I drive half a dozen different cars a month as rental cars when I travel... right now, GM and BMW are making the best interiors I've ever seen.
- PRlME, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2SAAB owned by GM is not designed by GM.(Saab very under rated car)
Motor Trend names Toyota Camry as 2007 Car of the Year.
Motor Trend names Cadillac CTS as 2008 Car of the Year.
The CTS came out 5 years ago, did not change any thing and now all of a sudden it gets car of the year? No its cause GM turns out ***** and there stocks sunk like a Russian submarine; So Motor Trend
gives them a pitty award. Interiors, yea its 2008 it took them 28 years to get a clue and redesign that.
But wtf do i know -=/
GM touches near 54-year low:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/06/30/news/companies/GM/ ... - NuclearIsShit, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2I'm not trying to start a ***** storm here but if you get lower level chevys like say older cavaliers, corsicas, S-10s, they have some pretty low quality interiors and exteriors. The glue on the door seals fails and they leak water, everything is made from ***** cheap plastic, the body rusts out like crazy. You can hear these ***** cars coming too, cause most of them have something wrong with the suspension.
I'm talking the older ones. The news ones are probably being built better now to compete with the Japanese cars. Also anything higher up in price or quality are way better like most Cadillacs and the full size trucks. - Gman1223, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2"Motor Trend names Cadillac CTS as 2008 Car of the Year.

The CTS was redesigned for the 08 model year. Which also happens to be the one that won that award. - AROZ, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2PRIME: Your comment on the CTS is utterly ignorant. For 2008, Cadillac changed practically everything on the CTS, producing a beautiful new model.
On interiors: For decades GM's interiors outside of the Cadillac division have disappointed me. Large gaps, the cheapest materials, drab monochromatic sections, strong smell of vinyl on warm days, and annoying nanny devices in the powerlocks made GM interiors some of the worst outside of Korea. Now they're getting much better, but I still noticed some disappointing material choices in the Malibu compared to the Camry.
The title of best interiors does not go to BMW either. I-drive still suffers from some usability issues.
No, the best interior title still belongs to Audi. They look terrific, utilize the best materials for the price and controls are most often intuitive.

- BoneStamp, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4People who are still talking about the Aztek are the same people who think Toyota still makes high quality vehicles. It's like nobody has paid attention to sales, quality rankings or recalls for the past 3 years.
- Gman1223, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Yeah, well. This is what happens when you get people who are told something, that have no current knowledge about Cars, and then expect them to be able to keep up with the market changes. People have once again forgotten that it perceiving it to be better doesn't actually mean it's better, some people have gotten so deep into the mindset that anything that isn't made by Asians is *****.
Go take a look at some of the comments from Toyota fanboys in the various articles talking about how Ford managed to move production quality to parity with Toyota and Nissan. The biggest issue the '3 have to fight now is the fact these people have no ability to perceive anything they make as good. I find Asian Car Fanboys to be as annoying as Apple Fanboys. - BoneStamp, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2@Gman1223
Yup, too true. Don't forget about the Euro fanboys too. I mean, there are great quality and poor quality vehicles made by all manufacturers... not intentionally, but some little engineering mistake can lead to unforeseen problems in production or ownership (years later in ownership).
