Bud Selig continues to ruin MLB. Replay coming Thursday.
sports.espn.go.com — Let's see: interleague play, over expansion, all star game "this time it counts", all star game tie debacle...and oh, that little thing he handled so well - steroids.

- bubashelili, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1I agree that Selig may not have been the best Commissioner to date, but I think Instant Replay for close and very debatable calls is a step in the right direction. There's never anything wrong with getting calls right even if it takes a few minutes.
- ycohain, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1My problem with this decision isn't as much adding replay, it's the timing of the decision and the qualifications it comes with. Why add replay in the middle of the season? And why only have it for home runs? I don't think strikes/balls should be up for debate, but what about a ball down the line being fair or foul? A runner being incorrectly called safe on a steal attempt? If you are allowing replay you should allow it for all plays.
- Ghost_MH, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2There were too many contested calls through the season It was getting to the point where it was imperative that they bring instant reply in time for playoff baseball. However, you can't just throw instant replay into the playoffs untested. As a result, you need a trial period so that umpires would get used to the idea of instant replays...And this is what we get.

- mission27, on 08/26/2008, -0/+0What's wrong with replay? Are you apposed to umps getting the call right?`
- ycohain, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1I'm not opposed to getting the calls right. I'm all for it. But why rush to this at the end of the season when they've somehow managed without replay for over 100 years? And why only for home runs?
- ScottyF311, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1Not a week goes by...not a week...that I don't see some dude getted robbed on a homerun. This is one modernization of baseball that I fully support, just like I supported the Colorado humidors.
