Ronny Turiaf Agrees to Deal with Golden State Warriors
lakermad.blogspot.com — Sad day for Lakers fans that love Ronny Turiaf. It looks like the Lakers energy man Ronny Turiaf has received and accepted a rather generous offer from the Golden State Warriors. Reportedly the Warriors have offered Turiaf $17 million over four years.

- AmyVernon, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5i think that about sums it up for Lakers fans..
- BW1021, on 07/10/2008, -2/+2he was a fan favorite, but what else did he do for the team? take ugly turnaround jumpers and give them six fouls a game?
- SreyaNotfilc, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1BW1021 is right. I've been a Lakers fan for a while now. It was cool that we had him. He was always an energizer, but that was about it. I was actually surprised in the playoffs that he attempted/made shots. Usually, he'll just dish it off to someone, or miss completely. I'm still a bit shaken up by this though. Why would he leave the Lakers after going all the way to the finals? That's nuts! Bynum is coming back next year, making the team a lot better (on paper). Hopefully, Sasha Vujacic doesn't follow suit. We really need his range.
- louiebaur, on 07/09/2008, -1/+9damn that sucks!
- industryfinest, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5Lakers are in so much Trouble!!!
- sukmydigg, on 07/09/2008, -10/+3Who cares about Ronny Turiaf? He is a bum with an under-bite.
- ihyddimo, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6Lakers fans do. He's probably one of the best reserves ever. Always gets the 2nd unit fired up. Always entertaining.
- PlayingGangsta, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4A bum with the best interior defense on that entire team except for maybe Andrew Bynum.
- Nicksname1, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1You obviously have never seen him dance. He is the best hype man since lil Joe C.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hn5H1KZZjBU- tkonopkaz06, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1That's not dancing. That's seizuring.
- lukehz, on 07/09/2008, -5/+5Sign on horrible teams for money, this is catching on!
- tolbs, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Warriors aren't horrible...they won 49 games last season.
- scoottie, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4maybe thats not horrible for the east
- alarmist, on 07/10/2008, -1/+3their style of play will never win championships
D=championships - grat2001, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Yea, but that was with Baron...now they lost him so the pace of the game will have to change as they change the team around.
- tolbs, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4sure they lost Baron, but they picked up Corey Maggette who is going to put up at least 20 a game. Monta Ellis should slide into the PG role just fine, they'll still be run and gun and fun as heck to watch.
- lostaznguy, on 07/10/2008, -0/+0yeah... warriors are not horrible to say the least... if jackson wasnt suspended for the first 6 games, im sure warriors would have been 8th seed last season... Hopefully Maggette and Turiaf can pick up some wins for the warriors...

- bigpicturecolin, on 07/09/2008, -4/+7I can't believe a story about a backup foul magnet just made it to 100 diggs.
- sportscrzy33, on 07/09/2008, -1/+3Come on Colin, its Turiaf!
- alarmist, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5come on man, the dude's got heart!
- BW1021, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2too soon
- sogeshirts, on 07/09/2008, -0/+7that sucks but if i'm the lakers i let him go and sign kurt thomas right now.
- chiefs10, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2you mean kurt rambis??
- virtualonliner, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Good for Warriors. They desperately lacked a good big man last season, especially when Biedrins was having constant foul trouble. Seems like Warriors are rebuilding. If only, they can get a good Point Guard, they can be a handful team.
- mikebb79, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1I heard an interesting possibility yesterday. If the Warriors offered Al Harrington, a first round pick and a bench player, it may be a tempting deal for the Pistons to give up Chauncey Billups. Joe Dumars seems to want to get a couple peeps out of there anyways.
- tolbs, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2I can't believe the Pistons would consider trading Chauncey Billups. The guy has Ice running through his veins and is the heart of that tea. Also, I don't think he's a good fit on the Warriors, he's more of a slow the game down, half court offense player.
- jankind, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Yeah I've heard Dumars is holding a fire sale. Everyone on that team is available.

- sonar1, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4they have time to match the offer, I hope they do. I usually hate cheerleaders on the bench (mark madsen) but turiaf made me chuckle.
- PlayingGangsta, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Matching the offer makes Lamar Odom more tradeable. Turiaf is extremely high energy and makes the most of his time on the court. Mark Madsen wishes he had Turiaf's talent and heart (well, maybe not heart).
- timbellomo, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4bad joke, but I must admit I laughed... so maybe it was a good joke

- CoMpUtErITGuY, on 07/10/2008, -8/+2Who?
- rex84, on 07/10/2008, -15/+2Sports are irrelevant right now, we're at the brink of World War III; buried.
- mikebb79, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1If we thought about that all the time I think we'd all be in severe depression. It's ok to be distracted by things like sports, it's what makes life livable.
- rex84, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1I agree, I'm just worried that too many people focus only on distractions and let Washington do as they will.
- mikebb79, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1If we thought about that all the time I think we'd all be in severe depression. It's ok to be distracted by things like sports, it's what makes life livable.
- ihavebeenseen, on 07/10/2008, -8/+1Turiaf on the front page, come on. Maybe if it was Kobe.
- carbbomb, on 07/10/2008, -0/+8Awww - I'm going to miss Ronnie.
- busybrain, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4Turiaf wasn't that great yet. He's a great character guy and motivator, however, it hasn't translated to massive production on the court just yet.
With Bynam coming back, the Lake Show will be fine next year. - Atom, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7He was a marginal PF at best. I love the guy and his energy but he couldnt sink free throws that mattered and didnt do much of anything for the Lakers other then cheer. I wish him the best of luck since he seems like a good guy, but this is no where near trouble for the lakers who have a front court of Bynum, Gasol, and Odom.
- NecroSexy, on 07/10/2008, -0/+7Ronny Turiaf = Digg approved
- scoottie, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6the Lakers could match the offer but doesn't seem likely because of the luxury tax. The only thing that can make Turiaf leaving not be so bad is if Andrew plays next year like he did before he got hurt.
- grat2001, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4But the best part of the bench was having Ronny, Sasha, Farmar, and Andrew out their killing the other teams starters.
- xL0Sx, on 07/10/2008, -4/+1I'm not going to miss Rice Pilaf.... or Turiaf, whatever the hell his name is.
- Buckeye70, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Gotta feel good for the guy. When they discovered his health problem out of college, I did not think he would ever play in the NBA.
- swraman, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3NO! He has such a child's spirit and attitude, in a good way I mean.
Too bad hes going up to Nor Cal... - Noncentz, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4Damn I always hated the Lakers.... but Turiaf was pretty damn likable, good for him.... BAD for the Lakers
- willx99, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Honestly, with Bynum and Minh coming back, plus gasol and odom the lakers have plenty of big men and on paper did not need Turiaf. However hes got an awesome personality and plays as hard as he can every night which is an awesome boost to a team. Im gonna miss the guy but Im glad hes getting the big bucks and I hope he does well.
- mrzack, on 07/10/2008, -2/+1HE's got a bad heart.
- agenthamsta, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3His heart is fine, he wouldn't be insured and playing and getting millions if his heart wasn't going to hold up.
- PlayingGangsta, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2A bad heart that's held up for 70+ games the past 2 years despite surgery a year prior?
- wangalicious, on 07/10/2008, -4/+0Good. Whenever Phil would put him in the game I'd flip the channel, no point getting stressed over the stupid fouls that clown would commit (often racking multiple fouls up in a minute).
- BW1021, on 07/10/2008, -1/+3The only real downside for the Lakers here is that they're slightly less likeable. Not that it matters, since people would have hated them even if Turiaf had re-signed. Also, who is going to watch Kobe jump over Aston Martins now?
- satanikus, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2As a Lakers fan, I'll miss him. Interesting move by GS. Where do they plan to play him? He won't start over Harrington, and they just re-signed Pietrus. Are they going to put him at the 5, either starting or off the bench? Seems likely the Warriors have some other moves they'd like to make.
- BW1021, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Pietrus signed with the Magic
- Boing, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Damn damn!
- ac12, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Clearly it isn't good for the Lakers. They might have other big men, but Turiaf was their only "tough" defender. I don't expect the Lakers to match it since it's just too much for a guy who only has that going for him. Every team needs a tough defensive minded big man, but not for that kind of money. I'm sure the Lakers can find another guy for way less.
- EvansHall, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2I hate to see him go, but as I understand it, if the Lakers were to match his contract, they'd be well over the luxury tax threshold.
- 12D3, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Man, what a kick in the balls. He was not only a great back up big man that gave them great, great depth, but he was a great guy and teammate.
He was a huge fan favorite. Its a sad day. - JNudda, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Didn't he learn anything from the Celtics? In order to have a winning team, you have to be willing to make sacrifices in your contract. The Lakers are going to dominate this year, now that Bynum is healthy. Dunno why he would want to leave a team that is definitely going back to the playoffs, especially to a sub-par team like GS.
- TheNapalm, on 07/10/2008, -4/+1Who cares, he's garbage.
- four5, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Your dancing on the sidelines will be missed Ronny.
- ShihJhit, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2damn... no more sweet dance moves on the sideline
- Congobongo, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1I guess this makes Baron leaving a little more platable.
- hawleyjr, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1I'm so happy for Ronny, I've watched him since he first started at Gonzaga and was there during is final game in the Kennel when his brother surprised him.
Way to go Ronny! Spokane loves you! - hep2djive, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Can you believe it? He is in this for Money.... hehe
- orph3us, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Unless Kobe truly has transformed, I believe this years Lakers reaching the finals was a fluke. There are stronger teams out there, yet the Lakers seemed to be favored for the laker-celtic potential revenue.
- rpong1981, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1BEAT L.A., BEAT L.A., BEAT L.A.!!!!
- rohit275, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2I will seriously cry if this man leaves the team I love, one of my favorite players ever, hands down. I realize its a hefty price to pay but I hope Mitch matches it haha.
- manuteforThree, on 07/10/2008, -0/+0this is what we get after we paid for your heart surgery?!?
john mctierman must be rolling over in his grave - mmmthmtskier, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1The Lakers stuck by this guy when it was discovered he had a heart ailment that was "unknown" before drafting him. They paid his medical bills for treatment even though he hadn't contributed to the team. He repays this kindness and loyalty by showing none. If this is the way Ronny Turiaf show his gratitude, then good riddance...
