sportsillustrated.cnn.com — Amazing. Without a single revision, no call for updates and nary a shift in tenses from present to past, the Seattle SuperSonics' 2007-08 media guide was transformed, overnight, into a history book.

We went through the tough times and the good times and now you get a free pass to the team that we built! What you did was wrong and we feel that it is a major injustice the fan base.

        I think that you're perfectly entitled to a team...just not our team!

        I can guarantee you this: you've not made friends in Seattle today.

    • MattFromSeattle, on 07/06/2008, -1/+4Just imagine if your man had used all the money that he put into stealing our Sonics and all the money that you in OK will have to shell out for the stadium, tickets, merch, etc. and just think of the team you could have BUILT on your own. Rather than stealing a team that has been a part of a city for over 40 years, OKC could have created a team from the ground up that was all yours, through and through.

      Enjoy OUR Sonics while you can, it won't take long before they are sold off when OKC has to pay full price for tickets (instead of the subsidized tix you all got when the Hornets played there), and your folks outside of OKC get sick of paying higher taxes on a team they have little to no interest in.

  • MattFromSeattle, on 07/06/2008, -0/+10Life long fan here, sad to see them go. Watching Kemp, Payton, and even Ewing when we had him for a short spell, will all be fond memories for me. Those out there who say stuff like, 'you didn't want to pay for a new arena, etc. etc.' need to keep in mind that Key Arena was just remodeled 14 years ago at the demand of the NBA because they weren't making enough money.

    No fan here in Seattle had complaints about the arena, it was a good venue. The other thing to remember is that we're still paying for a brand new football stadium and baseball stadium - both of which the team owners put up significant money towards in order to justify the cost.

    Hopefully we'll get another team in the next few years, but to me, it will never be the same Sonics.

They all abuse their positions and they get away with it because for fans abandoning the league means abandoning the sport or turning to the NCAA or a much less talented pro league.

    With competition if a team in one of the big 4 leagues moved out of a city that would be an opportunity for a competing league to move in and steal a market.

      huh? pro sports aren't charity organizations, nor is it some sort of basic human right for every city to have a pro sports team

      what do you suggest go back to the days of the ABA where every small town regional city has a joke of a team that no one supports?

I just want to say sorry for the idiots in Oklahoma that will like the team for a year then give up on them. Oklahoma just wants to not be fly over zone anymore. We kinda have this image problem, rednecks hicks fat people cows. Sadly most is true. But some of us are nice people. I used to live in Denver, just the thought of one of our teams leaving makes me want to cry. I couldn't see Denver the same with out the Broncos, the Av's, the Rockys, the Nuggets, and the Rapids. I feel that Seattle will be without something they always had now, Sorry.

    If that's the way OK business is run you, the faster you can get out of the NW the better. We don't want your filth here.

  • zombiefries, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1being from Seattle, majority wise we all knew they were gone when HE came and bought them - so we were just waiting for the "we're moving" speech - it just took longer than expected. I havent cared about basketball for the last 12 years, but they were a staple here - like the M's being the worst in baseball - we've adapted to our mediocrity in sports - save for the Seahawks who are mostly consistent.

    All I can say is PLEASE GIVE US AN NHL TEAM!!! (caps were in fact needed for proper effectiveness)
