Sonics take a page out of history
sportsillustrated.cnn.com — Amazing. Without a single revision, no call for updates and nary a shift in tenses from present to past, the Seattle SuperSonics' 2007-08 media guide was transformed, overnight, into a history book.

- davidlitts, on 07/06/2008, -13/+3I live in oklahoma, I hate oklahoma, if there is a god, which there isn't, the sonics will come here. I don't even like basketball, more of a football person, but it would be nice just to have a pro team.
Dear Fake Jesus...- coltraning, on 07/06/2008, -0/+10I know it's not your fault personally, but us folks up here in Seattle kinda don't want the Sonics to leave. We sorta think that Oklahoma should start its own goddamn team and leave us the ***** alone.
- davidlitts, on 07/06/2008, -5/+1Dude I understand.
BUT COME ON! you live in Seattle, I live in OKC.Seattle is full of win, just let us have a tiny lil bit. - broncostt, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2sorry dude but you don't understand.thats just it. you don't and you never will unless this OKC team moves when a good owner comes around and rips it from your city.
- coltraning, on 07/06/2008, -0/+4@davidlitts
We had to work to build a good organization; why shouldn't you? You people came here to our city and stole a part of our soul. It hurts a lot. We went through the tough times and the good times and now you get a free pass to the team that we built! What you did was wrong and we feel that it is a major injustice the fan base.
I think that you're perfectly entitled to a team...just not our team!
I can guarantee you this: you've not made friends in Seattle today. - InnerRayg, on 07/06/2008, -5/+1Call the whaaambulance guys.
It'll be good to have a team here again. - EvilCan, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2Seattle is not full of win...the last championship we had was from guess who...the SONICS. The only other chance we've had since then was Super Bowl XL and we got screwed!
- davidlitts, on 07/06/2008, -5/+1Dude I understand.
- MattFromSeattle, on 07/06/2008, -1/+4Just imagine if your man had used all the money that he put into stealing our Sonics and all the money that you in OK will have to shell out for the stadium, tickets, merch, etc. and just think of the team you could have BUILT on your own. Rather than stealing a team that has been a part of a city for over 40 years, OKC could have created a team from the ground up that was all yours, through and through.
Enjoy OUR Sonics while you can, it won't take long before they are sold off when OKC has to pay full price for tickets (instead of the subsidized tix you all got when the Hornets played there), and your folks outside of OKC get sick of paying higher taxes on a team they have little to no interest in.

Shut up. You didn't want to pay for a new arena, so your team was sold to a city that would. Your tears are wasted. - DownloadThis, on 07/06/2008, -2/+6It's ironic, I had the blunt she had the chronic,

- MattFromSeattle, on 07/06/2008, -0/+10Life long fan here, sad to see them go. Watching Kemp, Payton, and even Ewing when we had him for a short spell, will all be fond memories for me. Those out there who say stuff like, 'you didn't want to pay for a new arena, etc. etc.' need to keep in mind that Key Arena was just remodeled 14 years ago at the demand of the NBA because they weren't making enough money.
No fan here in Seattle had complaints about the arena, it was a good venue. The other thing to remember is that we're still paying for a brand new football stadium and baseball stadium - both of which the team owners put up significant money towards in order to justify the cost.
Hopefully we'll get another team in the next few years, but to me, it will never be the same Sonics. - rawnzilla, on 07/06/2008, -0/+15Wow. That article was barely readable.
- Branchex, on 07/06/2008, -2/+1The NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL all have monopolies on their respected sport and this needs to end. They all abuse their positions and they get away with it because for fans abandoning the league means abandoning the sport or turning to the NCAA or a much less talented pro league.
With competition if a team in one of the big 4 leagues moved out of a city that would be an opportunity for a competing league to move in and steal a market.- Ricky81682, on 07/06/2008, -1/+3Hey, you can't blame them for taking the money when city after city is handing it to them. Los Angeles refuses to use any public money for football and guess what, WE DON'T HAVE A TEAM AND NOBODY CARES. It's up to people to say they'd rather have good schools over a bunch of lousy role models.
- cadmiumpaint, on 07/07/2008, -1/+1"The NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL all have monopolies on their respected sport and this needs to end."
huh? pro sports aren't charity organizations, nor is it some sort of basic human right for every city to have a pro sports team
what do you suggest go back to the days of the ABA where every small town regional city has a joke of a team that no one supports?
pro sports is a business. deal.
- elmontsmilitia, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2Gary Payton was my favorite player of All-Time. They can never take the memories of the 90's away. The Glove and The Reign Man.

Bennett Rips A Page Out Of Seattle's History:
Uses It To Wipe His Ass - Alfonzo, on 07/06/2008, -2/+4Being from Seattle, good ***** riddance. Pay for your own stadium instead of trying to con the city (and state) to pay for your multi million dollar salaries. Maybe if you had maintained your team we would still care. . .
- arniegrape, on 07/06/2008, -0/+4Yeah, I kind of feel like that too. I worry, though, about the impact of losing the Sonics on Seattle Center.
- onlyclave, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1That on top of the Fun Forest closing, looks like I still have no reason to go there. Oh wait, I never have any reason to visit the tourist traps: Public Market, Space Needle, etc. Let the homeless guys camp out in the Longhouse.
- SocialPoison, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1The Pike Place Brewery is more than enough reason to visit the market ;)

- kenkyomausu, on 07/06/2008, -2/+6Me being from Oklahoma, I feel like a crook. I feel that we stole your team, Seattle. I just want to say sorry for the idiots in Oklahoma that will like the team for a year then give up on them. Oklahoma just wants to not be fly over zone anymore. We kinda have this image problem, rednecks hicks fat people cows. Sadly most is true. But some of us are nice people. I used to live in Denver, just the thought of one of our teams leaving makes me want to cry. I couldn't see Denver the same with out the Broncos, the Av's, the Rockys, the Nuggets, and the Rapids. I feel that Seattle will be without something they always had now, Sorry.
- onlyclave, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1Seattle will become to the NBA what Los Angeles has become to the NFL: "Well, if you don't like playing in (insert your city name here) we can just move your team to Seattle"
"Oh, ***** that! We love it here in (insert city)." - Swordman554, on 07/06/2008, -1/+1I agree with you. Right now it seems like Oklahoma is the little kid that is trying to prove it is an adult, so it begs or a new toy to take care of, and when that doesn't work out, it throws it away and wants another.
- onlyclave, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1Seattle will become to the NBA what Los Angeles has become to the NFL: "Well, if you don't like playing in (insert your city name here) we can just move your team to Seattle"
- Syklopz, on 07/06/2008, -6/+0I wonder what they will call their new team, The Oklahoma City Bombers?
- davidlitts, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3you made that same comment just a little above. I'm from oklahoma and i hope some cross eyed redneck takes a van full improvised explosives and kills...I don't everyone you've ever loved, and then a few babies to throw on top, b/c thats who died in the OKC bombing, good people at work, and innocent children at day care.
***** DIE.- mikeypayload, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1I basically said the same thing to this loser and my reply to him got deleted.

- ITAvenger, on 07/06/2008, -1/+3It's just plain dirty to buy a team, and then demand a new stadium immediately after the city builds a new football and baseball stadium. Then use that as an excuse to take such a NW staple to another city.
If that's the way OK business is run you, the faster you can get out of the NW the better. We don't want your filth here.- onlyclave, on 07/06/2008, -1/+1If the team was worth anything then Howard Schultz wouldn't have sold it, right?
- Casey9801, on 07/06/2008, -6/+2oh cry me a river....seattle sucks...bottom line

- gamben0, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2It's like they couldn't wait to get rid of them.
- zombiefries, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1being from Seattle, majority wise we all knew they were gone when HE came and bought them - so we were just waiting for the "we're moving" speech - it just took longer than expected. I havent cared about basketball for the last 12 years, but they were a staple here - like the M's being the worst in baseball - we've adapted to our mediocrity in sports - save for the Seahawks who are mostly consistent.
All I can say is PLEASE GIVE US AN NHL TEAM!!! (caps were in fact needed for proper effectiveness)- nydwarf, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1agreed
