- pleeker, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3This is a terrific article for bloggers. Shame it's not getting more attention here.
- Standup101, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2As always, Chris Garrett writes a descriptive, informative, and "bookmarkable" article. Thanks again. My only question is what is the sole difference between "authority content" and "bookmarkable content". I've read a lot of articles by authority bloggers (such as Chris). But what the article doesn't address is what ONE characteristic makes an article essential to bookmark and *different* from the other authority/pillar content that would normally be subscribed to (RSS/Email) or otherwise.
I ask this because I don't see the blaring difference between a well-written article (with links and thirst-quenching info) and a bookmarkable article. What is the difference between bookmarking and subscribing to the feed? Aren't the same elements at work? - mannya, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2Once again, Chris Garrett has delivered very usable advice. This one is definitely worth "bookmarking" for future reference. If I may take a minute to share with Standup101 MY understanding of the difference between "authority vs bookmarkable" content. Authority content informs, educates and/or entertains your reader. It gives them valuable information to enhance their store of knowledge and establishes you as an 'expert', the go-to person for info in your niche. One reading will accomplish all of the above. Bookmarkable content either informs or entertains so well, that the reader want to "save the article" for later reference, or "save the site" to check back to see what you have to say NEXT. At least, that's my understanding.
