- JohnsonGotOwned, on 06/28/2008, -6/+3*packs bags*
- shondell, on 06/28/2008, -8/+129But its still New Jersey
- CTK14A, on 06/28/2008, -18/+11There seems to be a lot of NJ bias on Digg.
New Jersey-- where I live-- is the birthplace of Bruce Willis, Frank Sinatra, and Jack Nicholson. You live in Seattle. Bring me some fair-trade coffee and try not to kill yourself on the way here. - applemachome, on 06/28/2008, -5/+3@CTK14A
Digg comment system is just a bunch of bias. The bias against different things eventually hits everyone, so it evens out in the long run, don't worry about it. - tunafizzle, on 06/28/2008, -3/+21@CTK14A
But it's still New Jersey... - shearfear32, on 06/28/2008, -9/+6lol wtf is wrong with NJ?
- dogfood, on 06/28/2008, -2/+16@CTK14A
Which of those people still live there? - saisumimen, on 06/28/2008, -1/+12New Jersey: As soon as you make it big, you'll move somewhere else.
- redneckblues, on 06/28/2008, -1/+5'cept Bruce Willis was born in Germany.

- Yookji, on 06/28/2008, -4/+3@digg1520
Because it's NJ. - Netrilix, on 06/28/2008, -2/+6I met a 15 year old from Jersey once (college friend's younger cousin). She was walking around in a bra and panties, drunk. It summed up everything I expected from a 15 year old Jersey girl.

- Sp0rAdiC, on 06/28/2008, -3/+18and they don't even let you pump it yourself!

- Metalmoon, on 06/28/2008, -4/+3Thats *****. I live in SJ where some of the cheapest gas is and premium is at least 4 bucks. Regular is about 3.90 now
- SolitarySoviet, on 06/28/2008, -3/+14.39 for lowest octane regualar in southern oregon, diesel is over 4.50... so people should quit bitching seriously... people are going bankrupt...
- rationalbeats, on 06/28/2008, -0/+6ohh yay, well it's 4.69$ at the closest gas station to me here in Oakland, CA
- ubuwalker31, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2$5.52 CD here in Quebec City, QC
- Puppetfunk, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1$4.19 for Regular Unleaded in Northern Oregon.
- Walkboss, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2I just filled up for 3.88/g regular in GA. I'm sorry for you guys.
- dinostabOMG, on 06/28/2008, -0/+3That's your mistake - living in South Jersey. Up here in the North we don't have it as bad yet.
- redneckblues, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2Tennessee ***** yeah! 3.87
- evi1, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2Got you all beat in Austin, $3.80.
- darkwing81, on 06/28/2008, -0/+3fun fact for today: Oregon and New Jersey are the only states in the union that you can not pump your own gas. I live in Oregon. The point of the law, here at least, was to create jobs.
- winampman2, on 06/28/2008, -0/+14.69 in southen california, same as rationalbeats in norcal above
:(
- BonersMilloy, on 06/28/2008, -1/+9Have they started converting that limetless supply of trash into fuel?
- Yookji, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1No, they just don't have high gas taxes.
- kashk5, on 06/28/2008, -6/+1Where? It's all above $4 in central Jersey. Now regular gas, on the other hand, can easily be found for under $4
- tnoy, on 06/28/2008, -0/+5edit: n/m bury this.
- DjOverEZ, on 06/28/2008, -3/+4"Although in NJ you can still get premium for under four bucks."
I'll take the $5 a gallon.- owls27, on 06/28/2008, -1/+1Not economical.
- dogfood, on 06/28/2008, -1/+4How much do you pay in tolls to get to work?
- MrFettuccine, on 06/28/2008, -1/+1Yeah, gas is under 4 dollars here in New Hampshire too. It is 3.93 in my town but I don't see too many gas stations around here that are 4 or above.
- veganmegan23, on 06/28/2008, -0/+0South Jersey has no trash and neither does most of the rest of the state if everyone hates us so much stop coming to cape may and wildwood and whatnot on vacation or atleast get out of the left lane! and i love not pumping my own gas, we pay less and have someone do the work for us and then clean our windshields. oh new jersey, what a wonderful state i love you
- AutoTom, on 06/28/2008, -0/+5dude cheer up its already over $6 USD per gallon here in australia
- UnWorthy1, on 06/28/2008, -0/+2yeah....don't admit to being from new jersey...with the orange earthlings and whatnot...you don't want to be from the same state as douchebags on THAT lvl...
- OMnicient, on 06/28/2008, -0/+0China... $3
- kevinwiz, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1I just paid $4.69 for premium today. But what's amazing is that I paid $4.79 a week ago at the same station. This had to have been the only station in the country to drop 10 cents, or it would have been all over the news that "pain at the pump easing?" With that exact headline.
- Koookie, on 06/27/2008, -26/+16Prices in Europe are about two times as high as that (granted, partly due to the strong Euro). Your whining seems weird to us.

Your post makes none. - fakekevinrose, on 06/28/2008, -10/+18OH YEA?
WELL DRIVING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD SEEMS WEIRD TO US- Tetec, on 06/28/2008, -2/+3Oh yeah !? Maybe nobody told you that only english people do that.
Go pound sand up your ass with your ***** imperial system.
- Tetec, on 06/28/2008, -2/+3Oh yeah !? Maybe nobody told you that only english people do that.
- Telephuse, on 06/28/2008, -6/+13Your misunderstanding is even more bizarre to us. We don't live in Europe. Try to imagine, for a moment, if the price you paid for some other commodity started skyrocketing. Wouldn't you be upset about it? It's hard to have such perspective when it's your own wallet bearing the impact.
The U.S. population is much less densely situated than that of Europe, meaning the cost of shipping via rail is much higher. In addition, the railway system here does not extend to as much of the populace as Europe's. Increasing gasoline prices therefore impact the cost of virtually every other good that must be shipped in this country. We're not really just bitching about the cost of gas; the implications are much farther reaching than that.- Koookie, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2Here's for those who do not get:
http://tinyurl.com/63vped
The main point seems to be population density:
Finland: 16.89 people per sqkm
United States: 29.77 people per sqkm
(Source: Nationmaster)
Another one said what -- no income tax in Europe!? We do have income tax. The US' total tax rate is not just lower, but about half of ours, 44% vs 22,7%
Source: Finnish govt and http://tinyurl.com/633yjs
Maybe it's just that US citizens are used to having a golden spoon up their ass, and are now complaining that it's removed. Fuzzy, hazy economical claims to the contrary don't cut it. - Ganja420, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2i think he was referring to REAL european countries
Germany 82,689,210 people / 357,022km² = 232 ppl/km²
France 60,495,540 people / 551,500km² = 110 ppl/km²
Italy 58,092,740 people / 301,318km² = 193 ppl/km²
England 60,776,238 people / 242,900km² = 246 ppl/km²
US 301,140,000 people / 9,629,091km² 31 ppl/km²
Outrageous GAS Taxes in Europe is what makes the price so high... in the states we pay around 60 cents in taxes per gallon - PeppermintPig, on 06/28/2008, -1/+1But that's one fragment of US taxes. Taken in total, considering federal/income and state taxes, as well as taxes we pay on everything else like goods and services, and particularly gasoline, you're more likely to find that the average US citizen is paying somewhere around 70% in taxes if not more.
When government sets a regulation which causes a business to raise the cost of their product, they are effectively sending that tax onto you, the consumer. - FURBjr, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Rail USED to penetrate a whole lot of the United States, until the gov't STOPPED subsidizing railroads, and STARTED subsidizing roads.
- Koookie, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2Here's for those who do not get:
- SAOSiN, on 06/28/2008, -0/+4Over here we have liters dont forget.
- kh99, on 06/28/2008, -0/+8Here in the US they used to talk about converting to the metric system, but for some reason they only converted bottles of soft drinks to liters and then stopped.
- fuzzybeard, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1I thought the military was mostly metric now because of interoperability requirements with NATO?
- nellyspageli, on 06/28/2008, -4/+3stronger euro makes gas cheaper for you guys
- Tetec, on 06/28/2008, -0/+0Oh really ?! Then check the prices.
- DavidGX, on 06/28/2008, -3/+7What? Our market != your market. This is high FOR US.
Goddamn, and people from other countries say WE'RE ignorant about the world. Get a clue. - libertao, on 06/28/2008, -2/+3Not only is it just because you pay taxes at the pump instead of through your income, but you also have a denser population geographically leading to less driving and easier/cheaper public transport.

- solistus, on 06/28/2008, -0/+150 cents is too steep a gradation. Abolish the penny, add a "penny tax" rounding all purchases up to the nearest nickel, after all federal, state and local taxes have been applied. We already have fractions of cents rounded up to the nearest penny, so it's not like rounding prices up to the nearest unit of currency available is a new idea.
- libertao, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2Seriously, I haven't used pennies to pay for anything in a long time, they just keep piling up worthlessly in a bowl. When I was a kid at least there was candy to buy, now as an adult and several years of inflation later....?

- xMedic, on 06/28/2008, -0/+3be happy, because one day you'll be saying, "remember back in the day when gas was only 5 bucks a gallon.."
- Ramza32, on 06/28/2008, -11/+7welcome to the rest of the world.
- funkyjunk3, on 06/28/2008, -1/+1Isn't britain at something like $7-8 a gallon?
- MrLlama, on 06/28/2008, -0/+2Closer to $10/gallon actually
- Iztikeit, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1Smaller country, better public transportation.
America cannot function without cars, FACT. We drive WAY more than you so I better not be paying anywhere near as much as you. - shinyplastic, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Iztikeit, America cannot function without whining, FACT. But it's called a bus. You know, really big cars that carry more than 1 person.
I'm american, but I live in Japan. Gas is around $7 a gal, and the highways have tolls about $100 for 180 miles. This makes driving stupid. Where I still in the US, I'd probably be whining too, but now I realize how easy it is to adapt. If there is demand for buses, they will become readily available. Right now, I wish we had Greyhound here cause transportation is ridiculously expensive. People have just changed their driving habits, it's completely possible, don't give me surface area *****.
Point is, America's panic over gas prices is completely irrational. The rise in the price of gas promotes innovation, reduces pollution and our dependence on religious fanatics. Quit whining bitches.
- prahareturns, on 06/28/2008, -1/+2Apparently you are being dugg down for reminding everyone that we have some of the lowest gas prices in the industrialized world.
(http://pictopia.com/perl/gal?process=gallery&galle ...- deadnoob, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1Many European countries HEAVILY tax their gas prices and smaller countries (less driving) is why he is getting dugg down.
- funkyjunk3, on 06/28/2008, -1/+1Isn't britain at something like $7-8 a gallon?
- OC73, on 06/28/2008, -4/+1UGH!
- funkyjunk3, on 06/28/2008, -3/+3At that point I'd rather take the bus to wherever I'm going than pay $150 a tank. We're already halfway there, so i guess I should start finding local routes...
- Jenadae, on 06/28/2008, -1/+1What the hell are you driving with a 30gallon tank?
- funkyjunk3, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1the darn page reloaded when I tried to reply to Khast's "$300 a barrel" comment above. It posted it as new and as a reply.

- Coolmatt49, on 06/28/2008, -1/+3**May not be combined with any other offer. Subject to availability. One bill per person.
- funkyjunk3, on 06/28/2008, -3/+23I should buy a 500 gallon tank, fill it up with Premium gasoline and just wait 6 months.
PROFIT!- Revolution101, on 06/28/2008, -0/+25can't profit without ???

- crzdmn, on 06/28/2008, -0/+2a whole lot of dry gas will solve that problem, but why waste the money on premium, it's only .20 a gallon more than regular, and well regular is crap anyway.
- Archer007, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1Yeah with instant gas you just add water.
- lamiaconfitor, on 06/28/2008, -0/+1ummm... what? You are talking about a fuel additive, not a form of fuel.

Its pretty dark down here, huh?
Now if you would be so kind as to dig(g) me out of here, I want to get back up top and see if gas has gotten past $3.25/gallon.

To design a new $5 bill! here and I thought it was going to finally pave my dirt road, help homeless kids, or maybe bring down our gas prices. AWESOME!!! EDIT: my stupidity didn't read the image and realize it was a joke and not really a new design for the bill. But still....it's true.
