Very few people can handle reaching the pinnacle of their life at age 10.- Chompy, on 01/16/2008, -0/+4No, the problem is that very few stage parents can handle not using their children like cash registers instead of allowing them to grow up normally and be kids.

How many Hollywood types will have to die before they realize that this life is not about having fun, seeking pleasure, and doing whatever you want to do without any moral compass whatsoever?- davewashere, on 01/16/2008, -1/+5Four?
- noahhoward, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2Nah we're well past that already.
- BoneheadFarker, on 01/16/2008, -4/+3Moral compass??? What the hell are you talking about? Morals have nothing to do with this. It's the whole idea of "slow down and enjoy life, and don't take so many ***** drugs that you ***** everything up and kill yourself" that's really involved here. There are plenty of people in Hollywood that like to have fun, but you don't here them in the news over some DUI and coke charge...unless they've been out of the spotlight for a little while and want to make a splash, but that's a totally different situation...
- LesterKing, on 01/16/2008, -5/+7You are such a douchebag, Jimmy
- rayraym0fucka, on 01/16/2008, -3/+3I think that is exactly what life is supposed to be like when you are young, rich and famous. I know I'd be going completely ape ***** and die early.

- promixr, on 01/16/2008, -1/+2Acting is like any other profession. Drugs and alcohol affect factory workers- why are people surprised when an actor succumbs to drugs and alcohol?
- roomforpanic, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2Perhaps because it is so widely publicized when an actor is caught up in drug and alcohol abuse. I doubt we'd ever see a 'Factory Worker Found Dead at 25' article on Digg. Not to mention, I don't think CNN, FOX, or MSNBC would spend two weeks covering the early death of Lulu from the diner like they did Anna Nicole.
People tend to connect with actors they see on screen and feel that, however superficially, they know the actor in some way. Thus, it's always of interest when someone you know dies or experiences something tragic.

- asdfrewq, on 01/16/2008, -2/+2What exactly then is life about, if not fun and pleasure? Obviously this guy lived too much too soon, but given your comments I'd wager he lived far more in his 25 years then you will in your entire lifetime.
Additionally you seem to make the assumption that all drug users are without moral compass. I see no reason to believe this person has done any wrong to anyone. This may blow your mind, but not all drug users are bad people. In fact, most drug users would fall into the category of those looking for just another means to escape the dullness of everyday life, much the same way as millions watch television/movies, listen to music, or read books.- logosx1, on 01/16/2008, -1/+2What is life about, if not fun and pleasure? Nothing I guess, if you're an animal. If you're a man, however, you have a purpose higher than yourself for existing.

- actorboy, on 01/16/2008, -3/+1Young people of all classes die from drug overdoses and/or alcohol poisoning. It has a lot to more do with lack of maturity and no strong family guidance than it does Hollywood.
- smackhero, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2what exactly is inherently immoral about using drugs aside from religious fundamentalists' abhorrence of any kind of fun/human pleasure? i'd say that 90% of human beings on earth use psychoactive drugs regularly--that includes alcohol and caffeine--and most are still able to function fine and lead rich & healthy lives.
when someone OD's on drugs or struggles with drug addiction, it should be viewed as a tragedy, not an excuse to start moralizing about their lifestyle or how degenerate they were to have fell victim to drug overdose.- roomforpanic, on 01/16/2008, -1/+1While I don't think this is the time to start preaching about morals, there does need to be a distinction between using caffeine or alcohol and the wholesale abuse of harmful drugs. An overdose is tragic, but the person wasn't a victim. You don't "fall victim" to drug overdose (in most cases), you choose to abuse drugs.
- mstoneburner, on 01/16/2008, -1/+1Well, heroin is a highly addictive drug that is also very dangerous and that can prompt one to commit criminal acts to fund one's habit. I don't know about you but I certain regard taking an illegal and dangerous drug that might kill me and might make me steal as being immoral.
- BoneheadFarker, on 01/16/2008, -0/+0Taking drugs is not immoral. Stealing, cheating, violence...these may be immoral. But simply taking drugs, even heroin, is not immoral. Even Jesus advocated drug and alcohol use, should it help someone with their suffering...
- AmusedToDeath, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1"Even Jesus advocated drug and alcohol use, should it help someone with their suffering..." WHAT? You must be reading a very different bible than I am.

I don't like the over-the-top, Anna Nicole Smith-style coverage of a celebrity death, but at least show a little humanity.- lostmongoose, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2So you're gonna tell me this person's death is more important than the other 100,000+ who will die today that are younger than he is for things they have no control over? Are you gonna write an article for each one of them and submit all of them to digg? stfu. He's another drugged up 'celebrity' who died from an overdose.
- metalhead87, on 01/17/2008, -1/+1Don't think anyone said anything about his death being any more important than any other, but either way there is no reason to act like an ass when someone dies. You can't control what gets reported as "news," but you can, at least, choose to respond with decency to what is reported. If you don't care in anyway about it, then simply don't post. There is no reason to post insensitive crap.

I know I've heard his name before, but I've never actually seen him in a movie. I've always thought he had a stupid name, so I just pushed the thought aside. Now I find out that he's just died. So, I manage to go for years without thinking of the guy, but a few days before he dies I think of him twice. Life is strange sometimes.

"Oh how the mighty have fallen. Almost child acting star Brad Renfro was arrested Wednesday on Skid Row for trying to score heroin from an undercover officer. Nice move, Brad. Glad to see you've set a new standard for the Hollywood downward spiral. Before it was enough just to be molested by Michael Jackson and turn into a pothead with the occasional role on The Surreal Life. But now the pinnacle is having a picture of your arrest snapped by the L.A. Times, looking vaguely like Buffalo Bill in 'Silence of the Lambs.' "

- Wartyboskfapped, on 01/16/2008, -4/+4Child stars always end up as SUPREMELY ***** up adults. Have you noticed? I can't think of a single example who didn't either go thru hellish drugs/alcohol/danger-seeking addictions, emotional trauma, suicided, or barely survived thru 12-step and therapy. Many of these kids don't even make it into adulthood. When I was 25, I thought I was an adult, but now I'm 35, I look back and see I was still very much a kid.

- bffoley, on 01/16/2008, -0/+6What about the girl from Wonder Years? She's some sort of math genius now.
- sjaskow, on 01/16/2008, -0/+7Um, what about Jodie Foster? She made the transition from child star to adult actor and hasn't collapsed into a pile of self-pity. And for that matter, Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba and Kirsten Dunst were all reasonably big as child stars and they seem to be ok.
- techobo, on 01/16/2008, -0/+6Natalie Portman, Jodie Foster, Anna Paquin, Jessica Alba, Thora Birch, Michael J. Fox.

- Dawnrazor, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2By his own admission Kurt Russell had some seriously ***** up years before he got his life back together. He easily coulda been another statistic.

- Wartyboskfapped, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1Jodie Foster - weirded out by the Reagan gunman dude and became a recluse. Michael J. Fox - alcoholism (read his autobiog). Dunno about the others. But, good points all.
- writeman, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1Foster didn't become a recluse, she went to college. Then came back to a bigger career than ever before.

He was a 'Cousin Oliver' on Diff'rent Strokes, played John Connor's friend in T2, and was in a few other shows. Not exactly A-list, but he's alive and kicking and seemingly normal.
Clearly all his '***** up child star' karma went to Gary Coleman, Todd Bridges, Dana Plato, and Eddie Furlong.- CTK14A, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1'Budnick' is awesome to this day and recently starred alongside Jason Zimbler (Ferguson from Clarissa Explains It All), Michael Maronna (Big Pete from The Adventures of Pete and Pete), and Marc Summers in a music video for the band The XYZ Affair.

Give me your $$$ and fame then.

Such a waste. - Gravey9, on 01/16/2008, -4/+1junkie?
- moxley, on 01/16/2008, -0/+5He was a decent actor - that's really sad.. I really dug him in "Telling Lies in America" with Kevin Bacon - that was a great movie and a good role for the kid.
A lot of people are assholes on here "I get tired of people who can;t handle their on success" - Like you really know what the deal is, Maybe he liked to do drugs, not everyone who ends up with an addiction or overdoses does so because they have some troubled past or present - sometimes they just enjoy getting high and get addicted - then they really have a problem.
I grew up in Southern California and have partied with young actors before; some of them don't know when to quit or become addicted at such a young age that they never really become adults.
My guess is that he was on junk or doing speedballs and then drank (classic mistake, Heroin overdoses where heroin is the only drug involved are relatively rare comparitively; usually overdose deaths happen when someone brings alcohol or benzodiazipines into the mix - these substances, when mixed with opiates create a snowballing depressive effect on your respiratory system). It's an easy way to die. - krisscofield, on 01/16/2008, -1/+9Digg - where the recently deceased are belittled and made fun of. Anyway, back to Ron Paul and Ubuntu news, no doubt. God forbid we shoot those down.
- Pixelante, on 01/16/2008, -3/+0What are we expected to do? When we die, nobody will waste any energy even to belittle and make fun of us. We're nobodies. The keepalive signal on our DSL lines is more real than our heartbeat.
- Synn, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1So you're saying you're jealous that he was something and that you will never be anything?

- sq2shooter, on 01/16/2008, -11/+2Never heard of him. He being an actor makes me care even less.
- WilliamDecker, on 01/16/2008, -9/+1Another junkie dies. He means nothing. He's known for acting...
Let's see some decent front page news that people care about...- StrangeFamous, on 01/16/2008, -0/+4Yeah, like stories about topless women playing the Wii, or funny pictures of animals having sex! Now THAT'S news.
- chix0r, on 01/16/2008, -0/+4Enid: "Oh my God. He just ordered a giant glass of milk."
Josh: "...That's a vanilla milkshake." - valeriehoney, on 01/16/2008, -13/+0OMG! It's really to see him died at this young! PS: FemMate.com is a cool place to discuss lesbian life and sex. A cool place to meet some real lesbian friends.

- Hercules, on 01/16/2008, -6/+2I'm sorry, but I claim Darwinism every time some junkie overdoses or puts their life in jeopardy as a result of drug use.
- JonathanThomas, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1Haven't anything with him in it for some time, was a good actor. Why is it that all the good actors get hooked on drugs and booze and die so young. River Phoenix (already mentioned) and Jonathan Brandis its just crazy. RIP Brad.
- whodoes, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3Drugs are bad.
- martin993, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3M'kay.
- dkern, on 01/16/2008, -1/+5Easy folks, its not cool to bash a person who was suffering. I have been in the entertainment biz for a while and Brad was a very troubled guy. He was not a bad person. He was exploited and couldn't handle it. Its a very tough business and he had very little support. Sycophants are not family or friends. Its always very sad when a talented artist gets lost in the cruel insanity of yet another business throughly corrupted by corporate ***** con men- when this occurs the art suffers- and artists fall. Its not like he invaded a country and killed millions of people. He was just sick- please don't kick his memory down. Let the kid rest peacefully. Brad didn't drag people down with him like Brittany or Lindsay or GW Bush. Give it a rest.
- miketherazor, on 01/16/2008, -2/+1Yeah, everyone should throw a jab at Bush in every single ***** story. Eat me.
- distrbnce, on 01/16/2008, -0/+2imdb: Played the role of Leon Scott Kennedy in a Japanese-only Biohazard 2 (1998) (VG)) commercial
that's cool. - Patricia123, on 01/16/2008, -0/+5I don't know ultimately what killed Brad, but I do know he was hugely talented and I'd heard about the Skid Row incident stuff. Mostly I know this, there are family and friends whose lives will never be the same, due to his death. As a mother of a recovering addict, I ache for this young man's family. Addiction doesn't only affect the user, it affects every person who loves him.
Patricia - scorpionking, on 01/16/2008, -3/+0probably alcohol poisinig since he drank alot the night before he died.
- spookycheddar, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1or heroin overdoes since he was arrested buying it from an undercover offier recently
