- digg it
- jhaydon, on 07/02/2008, -3/+274We saw a presentation on a school trip here in Australia, on the IMAX screen. They were using Windows XP and bluescreened it. Largest bluescreen in the southern hemisphere!

- loquax, on 07/03/2008, -1/+2Only on the vernal equinox.
- wontstoptalking, on 07/03/2008, -2/+66Has anyone else ever dreamed of flushing a toilet exactly on the equator? I'd be a little afraid it would be like dividing by zero.
- loudnobnoxious, on 07/03/2008, -4/+191 / 0 = ∞. The toilet will have a never-ending flush.
- redfred18t, on 07/03/2008, -1/+8No wonder why they dont have plumbing on the equator.

- BevansDesign, on 07/03/2008, -1/+29Pfft. It's an ad for Norton Anti-Virus of course! This is brilliant marketing.
- Mandegar0, on 07/03/2008, -6/+4Of course it is, its telling the costumers that norton will tell u if ur definitions ever get out of date with a slick and sexy interface
- BevansDesign, on 07/03/2008, -1/+29Pfft. It's an ad for Norton Anti-Virus of course! This is brilliant marketing.
- orbital318, on 07/03/2008, -15/+7I saw this last week its an old photo... Its port authority in NYC thought it was pretty funny.
- revjustin2, on 07/03/2008, -1/+121 week does not equal an old photo.

- BingoPower, on 07/03/2008, -0/+5Because whatever was providing the output was windows-based.
- icehazard, on 07/03/2008, -5/+17at least it was not the BSOD
- banmaster, on 07/03/2008, -2/+11Do people actually get those any more? I've not seen one on any of my own systems for years.
- digitalpencil, on 07/03/2008, -2/+10yes
- Zippo, on 07/03/2008, -13/+10Oh yeah, Vista is full of 'em.
- calantus, on 07/03/2008, -8/+12no, i haven't got a BSOD on vista yet, and i've had it for four months. Learn to use a computer.
- conorkirk, on 07/03/2008, -3/+6Oh, he knows how to use a computer.
The reason he got the BSoD is probably because he was tweaking with his computer causing it.
Therefore, he knows how to use it better :P - ChristianMagic, on 07/03/2008, -2/+1Dear god people still get them.
If you ever build your own computer, you'll be saving lots of money, but you will sure be in for a... treat until you work out the kinks. - PhonicUK, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3My most frequent BSOD...
"A clock interupt was not recieved on a secondary processor within the allocated time period"
A side effect of beta drivers and heavy overclocking xD - jasonsmith87, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0I've only had one BSOD since XP and none the times I've played with Vista...but I did crash Vista 5 times in the week before its release. Not a BSOD, pc just crashed and rebooted for no reason without any messages.
- HeavyWave, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Yeah, hardware errors.

- ligyron, on 07/03/2008, -5/+186How is this falling asleep on the job? Not like it's someone's job to sit on that computer 9 to 5 making sure it's always up to date. It's probably just stuck in a server room most of the time.
- jpwalsh1, on 07/03/2008, -19/+4Actually that is someones job. We are called Server Engineers. Oh, and it's a little more advanced than 'sit on that computer' :)

- bxblox, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Yea it is the port authority. This sign has some type of error on it at least 90% on the time.
- terrenceisdaman, on 07/04/2008, -3/+4this was at times square
- Defiant001, on 07/03/2008, -8/+1HAHA thats great !
- wontstoptalking, on 07/03/2008, -4/+7What an outstanding comment. The writer expresses himself in a very prompt manner, making it clear exactly what he is feeling. The combination of the automotopia "haha", along with it being in all capitals, shows just to what degree the commenter is "haha"-ing. Beaufitul.
He does, however, forget the fact that his comment is completely worthless and not insightful at all.- WELLDOITLIVE, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7I liked his better, didn't feel like a waste of time to read because it only took a quarter second.
- Defiant001, on 07/03/2008, -3/+2dear wontstoptalking,
please do the world a favor and shut up
I work with computers and I happened to find this picture quite funny, so stop being a trollfag.
thank you. - freebird09, on 07/03/2008, -1/+3While his comment may not come off as overly insightful, at least he doesn't come across as a big douche.
- Alreadyinuse99, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0Keep talking. Just stop typing.

- zyl0x, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7It's funny, out of the two - this picture, and your comment - I've only seen one before, and I've seen it many, many, many times. I'll let you figure out which one I'm talking about.
- lpxxfaintxx2, on 07/03/2008, -0/+6Wow, the internet is only 1 week old?!
- froston, on 07/03/2008, -12/+7I walk by this every day and it has been like that for a freaking week! How could a screen get a virus anyway....its function is to do 1 thing.
- arobar, on 07/03/2008, -1/+17What do you think generates output for the screen to show? You think the screen decides what it's going to show on it's own?
- bingostud722, on 07/03/2008, -2/+1I want that screen!
- n3tfury, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4you're as thick as mud.

- xamboozi, on 07/03/2008, -3/+149how much funnier would it have been if a virus was throwing porn ads up?
- MattB123, on 07/03/2008, -2/+29Quite a bit more, I'd say.
- tas08, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3That's what I was hoping for.

- wilfordsy, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1I'd say the perfect win!
- klipseracer, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1That would have been funny, but it would just get shut down and I think those kinds of screens are cool to have. Until they stop having any valuable content on them.
- wontstoptalking, on 07/03/2008, -2/+15AVG?
- Bots, on 07/03/2008, -1/+20Symantec AntiVirus
- banmaster, on 07/03/2008, -1/+27You're better off just geting infected than having ANY symantec/norton AV on your computer. It'll slow down less.
- wontstoptalking, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1@Banmaster (can't reply any further, it says "thread")
True dat. I still love Kaspersky. It doesn't get in my way, but when something fishy turns up, it's to my rescue. Very reliable and faithful. Like a computer. - digitalpencil, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4^^ here here, screw Norton/Symantec.. that ***** IS malware
- nicolasavru, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7Have any of you even tried Symantec AntiVirus? It's a corporate product, it has none of the bloat of Norton. None at all. It takes up 15 megs of ram while in the background.
- SoundScape, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2These guys clearly haven't used the corporate Symantec AV.
Hot tip guys, Norton != Symantec. - iChainsaw, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3NOD32 and Bitdefender for me.
- Kale27, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Symantec Corp is actually a great AV program. It is most certainly NOTHING like the Norton Security crap you buy off the shelf at the big box store.
- Slade605, on 07/04/2008, -3/+1@ SoundScape
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norton_AntiVirus
Norton AntiVirus (NAV) is a product of Symantec Corporation and is one of the most widely used antivirus programs. Its function is to detect and remove viruses, spyware, adware, and other potential security risks.
Close enough for me.

- bglav, on 07/03/2008, -1/+16What does this have to do with Windows? It's an App within Windows...
- BevansDesign, on 07/03/2008, -2/+11Same thing would've happened on a Mac.
- theshalit, on 07/03/2008, -0/+5*release the hounds*
- crowbar77, on 07/03/2008, -4/+2Who actually uses virus protection on a mac?
- BossKey, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Only if you were stupid enough to run the Mac version of Norton AntiVirus (it does bad things).
- CletusTSJY, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1Yeah I guess my gripe is really with crappy UI, but Windows has made it okay to make crappy UI by initiating all those retarded popup bubbles that come out of the system tray whenever my computer turns on and then again sporadically whenever there are two many icons on my desktop or I've disabled my firewall. I really just want my app, whatever it is, to be quiet. You wanna update my virus database? I can't think of a reason you have to ask me, go ahead and make that decision on your own.
- batmanz, on 07/03/2008, -4/+10You unemployed?
- xDynaBlade, on 07/03/2008, -3/+7Wouldn't it just shut off after a while if he didn't move the mouse or press any keys?
- laguano, on 07/03/2008, -0/+6Maybe they disabled that since it is intended to show an ad.
- decker12, on 07/03/2008, -1/+9I hate Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition. That's what that error is from. NAVCE is a PIG with system resources. Every time a new virus database is sent to a client, the process chews up something like 150MB of memory until it's done. Anyone have any alternatives to a corporate server-push (ie behidn the firewall and managed by myself) virus database solution?
- PsimanX1, on 07/03/2008, -0/+5Try ESET NOD32 Business Edition - much better in resource usage.
- Jenadae, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3NOD32 is amazing.
- iChainsaw, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4I love Nod32
- Chad3D, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Ditto. I couldn't agree more.
- michrech, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1We use McAfee ePO where I work. Our ePO server obtains the updates from McAfee and our clients are configured to talk to our ePO server (which currently sits on its own server but will soon be moved to a virtual machine). There are roughly 2000 student workstations and probably another thousand-ish faculty/staff workstations. Seems to work well for us. Since this is the Enterprise version, it doesn't seem to suck up *nearly* the amount of resources as the "home" version does...
Note -- I don't have any say in what AV software we deploy -- I just have to do it, or miss making my car/mortgage payments. :)- sysadminBJ, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1ePO works great. Backgound updates are seemless. I don't see any measurable impact on machines when it updates.
- PsimanX1, on 07/03/2008, -0/+5Try ESET NOD32 Business Edition - much better in resource usage.
- seanmx, on 07/03/2008, -14/+3Dont use windows. Problem solved.

- Greedfeed, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0Me either, haribol!
- wilfordsy, on 07/04/2008, -2/+1But you've gotta admit! It's pretty damn funny!

- DreamWeb, on 07/03/2008, -12/+2It's been up for over a week.
Intentional or not... ...this is an Ad for Apple. - lowbot, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4Haha, I was also in New York last weekend and took a photo of this with my phone. Whats funny is that this message was up for two whole days. Maybe longer.
- bxblox, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1There is an error there more often than not.
- SlapAyoda, on 07/03/2008, -0/+58Thanks for using an unnecessarily high resolution version of a very low quality image.
- banmaster, on 07/03/2008, -0/+8Not just that, but a quick glance shows that the stupid twit actually zoomed the image up to make it as big as it currently is.
- laguano, on 07/03/2008, -0/+38Yeah, this has been up for quite some time.. even i took a picture of it :D
It was close to the hotel i was staying at.

- NathanCH, on 07/03/2008, -9/+2Why use windows? CMON.
- banmaster, on 07/03/2008, -4/+9Because some people actually like to be able to run easily available cheap software. Say what you want about mac/linux, their native software range is freaking pathetic.
- NathanCH, on 07/03/2008, -3/+1Really? Name 10 pieces of good software that isn't available on mac. There always is a BETTER alternative. And native software for windows? So are we talking about notepad and Microsoft paint? I'll stick with iLife, thanks.
- cheaptricks, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Pretty much every program is programmed primarily for Windows, lol
- someone173406, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1YOU name 10 native software, and isn't available to Windows. Graphic related programs don't count.
- banmaster, on 07/03/2008, -4/+9Because some people actually like to be able to run easily available cheap software. Say what you want about mac/linux, their native software range is freaking pathetic.
- Destinatus, on 07/03/2008, -5/+6because only Windows asks if you want to update your virus definition file? This has nothing to do with windows, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!!

- axiomflash, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3guinea-pig-info.com? lol, that's pretty random. and a funny personal coincidence.
- swizzcheez, on 07/03/2008, -0/+21That was a surprising number of blown pixels... oh yeah, and the virus warning's disturbing too.
- michrech, on 07/03/2008, -2/+0It looks to me like they have the screen saver configured and set to "starfield" rather than a bunch of blown pixels. There does seem to be one panel (the one in the lower left that is all white) that is broken, though...
- wrestlingnrj, on 07/03/2008, -0/+6Hahaha, Symantec Enterprise.
- ltzanders, on 07/03/2008, -1/+142nd and 8th I was there and posted it up on the 1st originally. Argh.
- Stonekeeper, on 07/03/2008, -1/+7Not flamebaiting here but why do people use XP for such systems?
- michrech, on 07/03/2008, -1/+3Probably because it came with whatever computer was purchased/provided with the sign equipment.
In my lil' town, a local bank has purchased several LED signs. Though they were all red LED's, they still provided a standard desktop PC pre-loaded with the control hardware and a software program that (surprise!) was Windows based.
It is a very widely used and understood platform for companies to use to create software. It's quite easy to imagine that they'd configure it how they did (though I don't understand why they were using the "starfield" screensaver on it instead of displaying information/advertisements...

- Calibur, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Almost as good as a blue screen on the MGM
- end3rthe3rd, on 07/03/2008, -8/+1I saw it the other day at Port Authority also. Funny *****, I took a pic of it on my phone. Its cool that I got to see it in person. Still doesn't make up for the death of George Carlin.

- disc0x, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2What does his death have to do with anything that relates to this?
- ellem, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0This was ALSO yesterday... I actually have the picture on my BB. They may want to get that looked at :)
- disc0x, on 07/03/2008, -2/+1Where you in new york or washington? confusing
- biffbobfred, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1A good question would be why the definition files were not touched for 90 days. A better question would be: why is the computer controlling the display even hooked up to the Internet. You're just asking for trouble.
- timmyd803, on 07/03/2008, -1/+2I was also in NYC this weekend and laughed at actually seeing this
- sdresser, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3That's a lot of bad pixels. What's the warranty like on that thing?
- MrDo, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Expired.

- br0wn0ut, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4Here's a picture of it, with people on the street underneath for scale. Also shows a subway card machine crashed with Windows NT screen: http://tinyurl.com/65va59
