Drunk Falls Off Bridge - Slams Firetruck - Faceplants Ground watch!
view.break.com — A drunk was talked out of jumping and just as they brought out a fire truck to lower him down he slipped and slammed into the firetruck and face-planted on the ground. Good thing the firetruck broke his fall!

"Wow Dick, it looks as if the Aussies have set a new world record at 3 ½ meters!"
'That's funny Tom because that's the size of my penis... Around.. In half. HaHAHa'
"No Dick, you're thinking in inches. Aayoo! "
'Well Tom, I banged your wife last night. And your daughter. But not the really hot one, the kinda hot one that's like 35 years old...Yea the really hot one was too busy being forced to braid my pubes and comb out the klingons and dingleberries in my ass hair, all while your only son videotaped. And if you really think about it, that's actually still pretty good.. I mean 3 ½ x 2 is 7 inches, and if we are taking the "Around" statement literally.. that's uh, pretty impressive.'
"Hm. I guess your right. Touché Dick. But you should know that my wife has herpes, my kinda hot mid-thirties daughter used to be my other son, the hotter one does not exist - unless you are referring to your own smoking hot daughter, in which case you would still be incorrect since I was giving her the naughty dolphin all last night - and my son posts everything on youtube. Now up for the United States, thatguy84 with an '89 Cutlass Calais."

- mooseofshadows, on 05/07/2008, -0/+15G'day, Bruce!
- estvir, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10Hah, I noticed it was Australian and than the whole concept of a drunk Australian named Bruce who laughably hurts himself was almost too funny to be real.
I love "Big fella" and the other terms we Aussies use.
- estvir, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10Hah, I noticed it was Australian and than the whole concept of a drunk Australian named Bruce who laughably hurts himself was almost too funny to be real.
- darnit, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4I'm fairly certain that he didn't feel a thing and will have no memory of the evening.... or the last few decades.
- yuanzhoulu, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1i fail to see how the firetruck saved his life. he was moving downward at some velocity, and accelerating, and the firetruck did nothing but add horizontal velocity. this should just make it worse.
also by the way, if i were committing suicide what i would fear most is the police, because if i didn't jump, they probably would arrest me for trying to jump, and not just let me go home (if i were to change my mind, i'd want to just be let go home). - juventus1, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1i cant believe this is the first comment on the video considering after i watched that all i said was ouch, about 10 times in a row.
Coincidence??? - garrettsdiggs, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1You could point out the obvious.. This video is clearly fake. The lighting is way off.

- danconia, on 05/07/2008, -14/+5I believe he is an Aboriginal. You can be assured that when he's released from the hospital he'll go straight to the closest liquor store.
- estvir, on 05/07/2008, -1/+8By liquor store I assume you mean petrol station or hardware store.. or he'll go to Centrelink to pick up some money from the government.
- danconia, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1LOL you get Dugg up and I get Dugg down... ?

- Tyrghast, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4Lesson Learned: don't walk across bridges while drunk. If it's not possible to avoid the bridge, than run across it to make your time in the danger zone shorter.
- monkzero, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9I did this in GTA IV. So nothing new to me.
- dagaz, on 05/07/2008, -2/+6That's a pretty insensitive comment. The guy falling from the bridge is a local Koori (Australian Aboriginal). Many Koori's have been so socially marginalised during the last 200 years of white settlement that alcohol and drug addiction are common problems.

- sfacets, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3What? Why?
- slicerace, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3Probably because we'd see comments such as, "Only in America... "
- sfacets, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3What? Why?
- sportsbooks, on 05/07/2008, -40/+8They should let him fall in his head. Less problems in the future. One drunk less on the streets.
- carpeclunes, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10Fewer problems. One drunk fewer.
- SasquatchBill, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Maybe he meant the second one, and he's saying that Bruce would avoid the streets if he had fallen on his head, but he'd still be a drunk. A drunk who spends less of his time on the streets.
- kahrn, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4Maybe we should let you fall on your head. Less assumptions being made in the future. One idiot less in the world.
- yayintertubes, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3Drunks that hurt themselves aren't the problem, it's drunks that fight in the street that need dropping on their head. This is just some harmless guy who needs help, and sportsbooks' comment is fooking ignorant.
- carpeclunes, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10Fewer problems. One drunk fewer.

- MrJagil, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2Oh snap! The first 5 times i read the title, i thought it said: Duck Falls Off Bridge - Slams Firetruck - Faceplants Ground.

- M00nshield, on 05/07/2008, -5/+48well considering the word Ironic means "the opposite of what is expected," it was ironic that the fire truck showed up to help him, and ended up hurting him
- commenter01, on 05/07/2008, -6/+5It's not the opposite of what's expected. In fact, after reading the title, it is exactly what I expected. :P
/jk before i get buried. - Sophistifunk, on 05/07/2008, -3/+2Except, it's not ironic. Hitting the firetruck's windshield on the way down saved him from serious injury from the fall: http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=454237
- sgtbutterscotch, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4It's ironic that it saved him by him jumping into its windshield rather than the firemen getting out and inflating some cushiony thing for the guy to land on.
- commenter01, on 05/07/2008, -6/+5It's not the opposite of what's expected. In fact, after reading the title, it is exactly what I expected. :P
- BarrettAnderson, on 05/07/2008, -0/+11I can't tell if you are mocking the people who claim that the word 'ironic' is misused in every possible scenario or if you are being serious. Here it was used correctly and I can't tell why the original post is being buried. It was hilarious.
- barkus, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5If you're going to be the word police the least you can do is understand what the word means.
- M00nshield, on 05/07/2008, -5/+48well considering the word Ironic means "the opposite of what is expected," it was ironic that the fire truck showed up to help him, and ended up hurting him

- iDe1337, on 05/07/2008, -6/+249At least he gained some forward momentum from the firetruck so he didn't hit the ground head on straight.
- SirSnafu, on 05/07/2008, -1/+24yeah I was thinking the same, that fire truck could have saved his ass by changing his impact into a slide instead of a crumple
- ligyron, on 05/07/2008, -12/+4He definitely would've died if that firetruck wasn't there
- innocentsinner, on 05/07/2008, -0/+30Give that truck a medal!
- Tyr7BE, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10Disagree. That looks to be about 6 meters high or so (about the height of 3 people). He was already hanging down, and his feet were pointed at the ground. I'm saying maybe some broken bones, but nothing terrible. That truck definitely helped though :)
- nshady, on 05/07/2008, -0/+54Yep, that's the crazy thing - he walked away with no broken bones:
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=454237- Coded1, on 05/07/2008, -0/+23Maybe we should make this protocol?
- nyx210, on 05/07/2008, -4/+5Oh, so it's ok to laugh now? Since he's not dead?
- Furkle, on 05/07/2008, -0/+9First off yes it's ok to laugh, in fact, I would've laughed had he died, just like I laugh at the people who die on darwinawards. Second, in the comment you were replying to who the ***** was laughing?
- mustache, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5yes
- estvir, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5I'm pretty sure we were all laughing well before we knew he wasn't dead.
- Furkle, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2I get the feeling the no broken bones thing was in part aided by the fact his body was relaxed by the alcohol, kinda like the same way drunk drivers walk away from some pretty serious accidents unharmed.

- purelithium, on 05/07/2008, -0/+39Honestly I was not expecting it like that. I thought he was going to land on the firetruck and fall off. This was WAY awesomer...
- JonTheGoose, on 05/07/2008, -1/+33I can't think of any other situation besides this one in which getting hit by a firetruck would be beneficial.
- MacGuy88, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3I never thought I'd ever hear that in my life.
That has to be the funniest comment I've ever seen on Digg.. haha
- MacGuy88, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3I never thought I'd ever hear that in my life.
- xadious, on 05/07/2008, -9/+6Actually the firetruck didn't help at all, most likely added more pain. If you look closely, towards the end he's actually hanging off the bottom of the bridge and then he DROPs -- so he would have landed without too many problems -- that truck just put some pain on him.
The fire truck driver must feel like ***** - probably went into shock when he hit him.
No sympathy for the jumper though - i laughed at the vid. Damn drunks!- SeraphIXI, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2http://wroooooaaaaaahhhhhhhoooooaaaahhh.ytmnd.com/
- over900000, on 05/07/2008, -2/+18well, motion in horizontal and vertical components under gravity are independent.
- diggrnumber1, on 05/07/2008, -3/+3yes, but the frictional force from the firetruck may have instantaneously slowed his rate of descent. Thus, it may have actually been beneficial.
- hauntedchippy, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6Othogonol directions are independant regardless of gravity.
- RiouG, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5I like cheese.
- Nevarius, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2I think its how he landed. If he landed on his feet he probably would have broke some bones etc. Looks like from the video he landed in a way that distributed his weight out more.
- MacGuy88, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5Call in the MythBusters..
- hauntedchippy, on 05/07/2008, -3/+4The firetruck would have had NO effect on his vertical speed at all. In fact, since the truck gave him a horizontal component as well, increasing his kinetic energy, he likely endured more pain and injury than he would have otherwise.
- hauntedchippy, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1LOL, dugg down for high school physics? Newton is spinning in his grave...
- charlieville, on 05/07/2008, -9/+16wow that was painfully awesome.

How many people do YOU know that have been hit by an effing FIRETRUCK. If nothing else, it's a badass story to tell your friends.

Dubbo, NSW, Australia.
Good to see Aboriginal australians are still living up to their much deserved stereotypes :p- sovereign3, on 05/07/2008, -13/+10I hope you're not representative of all Australians' attitudes towards your country's indigenous population.
- littlemarcho, on 05/07/2008, -9/+10No. Just the result of growing up in Dubbo and being constantly tormented by a certain specific group in the population of Dubbo
- sovereign3, on 05/07/2008, -9/+2Tormented in what way? I'm sorry to get political, but you should be reminded that white Australians were not the first inhabitants of the continent. You make it seem as though the indigenous population is tormenting you, when in fact they might see it the other way.
So, can you elaborate about how that "certain group" is tormenting you?- littlemarcho, on 05/07/2008, -2/+5No need. It should be obvious.
- danconia, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5Sorry but I'm with littlemarcho on this one. My friend and I spent time in Australia and my buddy almost got jumped by like 5 Abo's for no reason. Luckily my buddy can handle his own and was able to get away but the Aboriginal people can be incredibly belligerent. And we're not talking late-night but like 10 AM stuff here...
- yojiffyskippy, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4How does that make you feel?
- Majhem, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6To Sovereign3:
It is quite obvious you know little of the subject. The first and often ONLY argument people can make about this issue is "But they were here before you!" ... well duh, but what does that mean in the modern world? By your logic you would insinuate that we owe the people of Africa everything we have because they were here before anyone else... So I ask, are you feeding starving Ethiopian children, or submitting a potion of you wage to help buy medicines for sick African Villagers? Every Australian pays to help these people. My tax dollars are about the best thing that I can do to improve a bad situation, short of ignoring my own life and physically being with them.
Whilst I cannot speak for the Colonial Europeans that founded the Country of Australia, nor the churches that have spread their malign influence for generations, Australia's previous AND present treatment of its indigenous population makes countries with histories like the UK, and the US look barbaric in comparison. NO living Australian cant be blamed for the predicament that many of our Aboriginals find themselves in. In fact, proportionately as many or more non-Aboriginal Australians are working to help raise these living conditions as they are themselves! It is at this moment I would like to remind you that we did not colonise this land nor force their hand, we are merely 'Australians' living on this ground too. I call this land home just like any living aboriginal would, it is all I know, and all I am, and where my family have been born and lived for as long as we can remember.
Whilst a culture of racism does exist here, it is no more developed than anywhere else is the world, and from personal experience I would say it is far less detrimental, derisive, aggressive or violent compared to the underlying views and feelings of many other nations and cultures.
Apologies for the rant, but people who yell "All are racists" are just racists themselves. Think about it. - Majhem, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Edits:
"NO living Australian can be blamed..."
"Apologies for the rant, but people who yell "All *random nationality* are racists" are just being racist themselves. Think about it.
- sovereign3, on 05/07/2008, -9/+2Tormented in what way? I'm sorry to get political, but you should be reminded that white Australians were not the first inhabitants of the continent. You make it seem as though the indigenous population is tormenting you, when in fact they might see it the other way.
- bokep, on 05/07/2008, -10/+6Australians are some of the most racist people on earth.
- littlemarcho, on 05/07/2008, -3/+3Very True
- MiserJ, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4Why is that? Not trying to be a wise-ass just curious why you would say that.
- pygmy, on 05/07/2008, -5/+1I'm not racist but.. I fuggin hate Aussies
- Myztry, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Sorry mate, but who seem to mistaken yourself for someone who's opinion matters...
- danconia, on 05/07/2008, -1/+6My own experience in Australia would lead me to quite the opposite conclusion. The many Australians I met and befriended were both tolerant and friendly. The friction between white Australians and native Aborigines is not really like any other inter-racial relation.
- Myztry, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3Australian are the most racially diverse people on Earth. We've got a higher percentage of non-settling / non-native people of any country as far as I'm aware.
It's really hard to be racist when such a high proportion of our countrymen are indeed ethnic...
Australian Ethnics are just as likely to have a jab at their own ethnic group as any other.
Some groups of Aboriginals make a real mess of themselves. To note that is not racism.
Some Aboriginals are great examples of humanity. Others aren't. Applies to any race.
The video shows one example of a bad example of race, and indeed humanity...
- xosfear, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4haha agreed.
also unfortunately from dubbo- littlemarcho, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5So people from Dubbo know what I am talking about!
- danconia, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Spent time in Cairns so I certainly know what you're talking about.
- estvir, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3I'm from Brisbane and I have a fair idea of what you're talking about but luckily I hardly ever see abos in my area.
- estate, on 05/07/2008, -3/+3He's not. Well, he doesn't represent me and the other 18 or 19 million people who applauded K Rudd's apology, anyway.
- estvir, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3The apology was stupid, useless, unnecessary, etc. What the hell did the apology get you? A little warm feeling for a few moments? If there was 1 thing Howard did right, it was not giving out some petty apology.
Go out, get a job, help your community, etc.

- danconia, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5@ Sovereign: Apparently you've never been to Australia. The stereotype that Aboriginal people are alcoholics is more than just a stereotype. Anyone who has been specifically to Queensland would know this. Their genes never had to deal with alcohol until Europeans came over and thus the gene for alcoholism had never been phased out like it had in Europe. The same sorta thing happened to the Native Americans but not nearly as bad as the Aboriginal people.
- littlemarcho, on 05/07/2008, -9/+10No. Just the result of growing up in Dubbo and being constantly tormented by a certain specific group in the population of Dubbo
- littlemarcho, on 05/07/2008, -3/+5http://dubbo.yourguide.com.au/news/local/news/gene ...
- sovereign3, on 05/07/2008, -13/+10I hope you're not representative of all Australians' attitudes towards your country's indigenous population.
- warezjunky, on 05/07/2008, -11/+2Horizontal and vertical acceleration are independent of each other, he would've hit the ground just as hard if he fell straight down.
- mphree, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2Yes... but when he hits a firetruck hauling ass, I imagine that gave quite a bit more speed to his fall... notice how he ended up about fifteen feet in front of the firetruck?
- panteradactyl, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2he also hit the bottom of the windshield which at the speed of the truck, had to have changed his trajectory slightly
- xadhominemx, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Actually, some simple vector addition is all it takes to show that you're wrong. If we allow that he's moving in only two dimensions (a fair simplification), the velocity at which that hits the ground is (x^2+y^2)^(1/2), where x is the horizontal velocity that he picked up from hitting the truck, and y is the velocity at which he would have hit the ground at if he didn't collide with the truck at all.
- crazyjake, on 05/07/2008, -3/+1well... it is good you guys aren't trying to read too much into this thing...
- Kaervek, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5Unread it and stay stupid.
- crazyjake, on 05/07/2008, -3/+1well... it is good you guys aren't trying to read too much into this thing...
- yojiffyskippy, on 05/07/2008, -0/+9You obviously didn't consider the loss of vertical energy resulting from the friction of his face sliding down the windshield.
- cobainirvana, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1oh how right you are
- danconia, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Nailed it. Kinetic friction in the vertical plane opposing the direction of the velocity.
- nyx210, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2You forgot to factor in the change in momentum that was added in by the fire truck.
- chkdg8, on 05/07/2008, -8/+3After he gets all healed up, he'll have some time to think about his stupidity in jail.
- inverted7001, on 05/07/2008, -7/+2I clicked on this thinking the picture had fire in the background... then I was disappointed... then I watched it and decided it was Digg-worthy... but then I was sad there was no fire again =(
- saltinekracka20, on 05/07/2008, -3/+149I feel bad for laughing, but the timing was just too sweet.
- Myztry, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1If he was 2 seconds earlier, he may have lifted the front wheel of the truck...
- gttim, on 05/07/2008, -0/+0I bet they couldn't do that again if they tried 100 times. Bruce is up for it!
- YodaJones, on 05/07/2008, -2/+8Do they have plastic windshields down under? Looks like it went concave after impact.
- stubear, on 05/07/2008, -3/+10Safety glass does that instead of shattering and sending tiny shards of glass everywhere.
- S1ngular1ty1, on 05/07/2008, -9/+3Um, no.
- Alex2, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3I dont' see why you're voted down. Safety glass is the glass that shatters into a zillion pieces. It's specifically tempered to do this.
Non safety glass will break like a house window pane with long sharp edges and cause huge lacerations.
Safety film is NOT safety glass. Safety film keeps all that safety glass in one piece.- stubear, on 05/07/2008, -0/+0This is why he's getting dugg down, http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question508.htm.

- S1ngular1ty1, on 05/07/2008, -9/+3Um, no.
- nshady, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Nope, it's perspex on fire engines: http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=454237

- snowbones, on 05/07/2008, -27/+1I'm not even gonna watch it: FAKE!!!
- dazparkour, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Your comment is fake. It has no shadows.
- MutatedNantuko, on 05/07/2008, -2/+5I bet if he was intoxicated enough to fall, then he would be limp enough not to sustain serious damage. I kind of wonder what the effect of the firetruck was on his fall since it knocked him to the side.
- Dan11023, on 05/07/2008, -1/+71This reminds me of the Mission in GTA San Andreas where you had a save mad dogg from falling by catching him in the pick-up truck.
- johnsmith3210, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Also reminds me of how many times that mission went horribly wrong.
- Miamisun, on 05/07/2008, -2/+65poor firetruck ... it must have been scared
- pegothejerk, on 05/07/2008, -2/+11ta da.
- Leviathan1006, on 05/07/2008, -2/+5that's one big scab.
- geoffcybor, on 05/07/2008, -3/+4i only climb things when i'm high, and i want to be higher.
- quinnmct, on 05/07/2008, -1/+9oh, that wasn't planned?
- jjb123, on 05/07/2008, -1/+18That thumbnail made me think of gta for some reason.
- mvanhorn, on 05/07/2008, -0/+9Yes!! I totally thought it was GTA looking at the thumb.. sad only a few people saw that.. I think we've been playing too much GTA.
- sovereign3, on 05/07/2008, -3/+6What did the officers say about this guy's condition afterwards? I could not understand a lick of his Aussie English.
- xosfear, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4no broken bones and he's ok. just a few scratchs and bruises.
- saggygrandma, on 05/07/2008, -2/+3"he is being taken to a dubbo (town) based hospital and currently being accessed."
you couldn't get the 'lick' of that?!? its pretty straight forward.- tk0680, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Oh it was "assessed", I thought they were saying he was being assisted or something, which didn't imply much at all.
- Progression, on 05/07/2008, -2/+41I was expecting to see a GTA IV clip.
- Remmiz, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3Damn you took my comment! The little logos on the corners even made it look like it!
- DeFex, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4Wow that timing was even better then that BS in CSI miami where the guy threw a paving stone from about that high and it hit a guy passing on a watercraft right in the head.
- magicaltrevor, on 05/07/2008, -2/+21Is it a sign of addiction that I was expecting a GTA IV clip?
- helikopter, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3i'm with you on this one
- jbp826, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3Im glad im not the only one who thought it was gonna be gta from the thumbnail.
- diggSJaustin, on 05/07/2008, -9/+3I was going to click that until I saw it was from Break.com.
- saggygrandma, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1yeah I know what you mean, turns out you can use the keyboard to control the piece of ***** player and its almost watchable.
- RSS14, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2This is another win for natural selection!
- killkev, on 05/07/2008, -0/+210The firetruck usually stalks his prey but this guy just fell into his lap, either way the ambulances will have to wait their turn.
- kutateli, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3Any one else read that in Steve Irwin's voice?

*bonk*
- ferrariboy430, on 05/07/2008, -1/+6that was the best thing iv seen all day. you coulden't have timed that any better. im still cracking up.

- howzitgoin88, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4Ah, from Dubbo. That explains it...
- Crath, on 05/07/2008, -0/+9such an awesome title.
- wildmXranat, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3Thats why , when you get 'stupid' drunk, wear a football helmet :)
- mgill3, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Good idea, i'll remember that, LOL!
- d0zy, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10the driver of the fire truck was obviously trying to break his fall, but was about a half second too late.
- Tyr7BE, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Actually, his timing couldn't have been better :)
- coldeve, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3I think the timing was just borderline right. If it comes earlier he would've dropped on top of the truck. However, another half second late and he might've hit the ground just in front of the fire truck and the driver would not be able to brake in time then runs him over as a result.
- tk0680, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3Although there's no way the driver could do this again in a hundred attempts, it was probably the best result. Falling on top of the truck (with its rather uneven surface) probably would have resulted in broken ribs at best. Falling just in front of the truck would have resulted in being run over. Hitting the front of the moving truck caused the guy to fly forward and roll on the ground, giving him nothing more than a few bruises as mentioned earlier. Score.
