      He would teach the law, and then what you can get away with, and then what the in-car drivers expected. He always said:

      "If you EVER get a failing grade for anything I teach you in this classroom you call me. You show me what you did. Then I'll go and have the dumbass's job within the ***** hour. They are required to take a 1 week course to administer drivering tests, I've been doing this for 25 years and they all know me by name there. I've had dozens upon dozens of drivers ***** fired for failing my students. Here's my number".

He liked to play classic rock really loud and just point what direction to go and said that only bass damaged your ears so loud treble was ok. He also let my friend who was taking the class with me smoke in the car even though we had only just turned 15.

He also promised free donuts on the way back but then said is was to late. I hated that man and still do. And by recent that's how they taught me ~2 years ago. 10 and 2 with airbags means in any accident where the airbag deploys you've got thumbs where your eyes used to be.

      And they proved it was done "recently" with that new driving cell phone ban law.

        A Driver's Ed course I took six months ago suggested 8 and 4 ... or 9 and 3, citing it was a safer position for your hands and arms should the airbag deploy. Also, there was less overall fatigue holding your arms in this lower position.

        They also taught shuffle steering instead of hand-over-hand for the same reason: to prevent your arms from being in front of the wheel during airbag deployment.
